Little side note that Merritt Robertson is related to the Robertsons that starred in Duck Dynasty on A&E. She is Phil and Si Robertson’s mother. She also passed in 2009 at the age of 95
Thanks for posting this: This was the first episode I got to see in person; I was in the audience, 2nd row, just to the right of Contestants’ Row (I could touch the chair that read “Right”). I remember noticing “Little Larry” while we were waiting to get into the studio; I commented to someone “I bet they’ll pick him” and sure enough...!
For those who may not know, Merritt Robertson is Phil Robertson’s, of “Duck Dynasty” fame, mother! Phil & Jase actually talk about her appearance on their program “Unashamed”.
That's the SAME computer, monitor, and printer I've bought at Best Buy back in 1999. I think I've paid $1299.99 for the package. It was my first computer and it lasted a little over five years.
17:05-21:01 probably THE most energetic contestant The Price is Right has EVER seen. Everyone (Bob, Rod, Barker’s Beauties, TPIR staff and crew, and the audience [even the late Mark Goodson and Bill Todman looking down]) in Studio 33 was speechless at Larry’s energy. On this episode, Larry was the heart of The Price is Right and the definitive definition of “loyal friend and true” of the show Larry reappeared again 13 years later on the 40th Anniversary Special episode on September 4 2012. Larry’s 1999 appearance was shown, his energy was the same, he made Drew (like Bob before him) LOL, and he won his showcase

Fast forward to when Drew Carey was the star of the Price Is Right, instead of Bob Barker. One of Drew's episodes has featured Larry, from this 1999 episode vs Paul, the first showcase winner in Price Is Right history, spinning the big wheel. It all came down to this: would Larry have the luck of the big wheel that he did not have in '99 or would Paul try to win another showcase? Remember that Drew Carey episode?
I wouldn’t have any excitement about meeting Drew Carey. I think he’s lacking in charisma and personality. He’s pretending. You can tell his hearts not really in the shell that he’s doing. He’s there for the paycheck. And that’s the difference. Bob Barker was there for a paycheck sure. But, you could also tell that Bob truly enjoyed what he was doing. He enjoyed the interaction with the contestants, and just the whole experience. You don’t get the sense of any of that from Drew Carey. In fact, since Drew has taken over, I will not watch the Price is right. Because to me it’s no longer the real price is right. Don’t even get me started on the announcer that Drew has. He’s as uncharismatic and doll as Drew. Maybe they get the announcer to fit the host. I mean Bob had some really good announcers.
I agree. I've been watching The Price is Right episodes from 1972-73, and the contestants were much better behaved. They got excited when they won their prizes, but they never obnoxious about it.
@@Rasslinwithracism I think in rewatching these episodes this was the most hyper group of contestants ever. I don't know how Merritt even got chosen. Maybe they were afraid if every1 was so hopped up the roof'd be blown off.

Who believes Larry was this excited over the chance to win the glassware?
I think Larry was high on more than just excitement and meeting Bob Barker. I think he was on the chemically induced trip through the mind.
I went to elementary school with Larry.
And Larry Lawrence came back for the 40th anniversary special and won his Showcase.
I remember seeing that like it was yesterday.
U for real
@@talwar1990 Yes.
He played Double Cross and won a TV and hot tub. It was still a very new game at the time, I think it was only the 2nd playing, but the 1st win!
He won a Mustang in his showcase.

Now that is quite the excitement that you see in today's contestants, on this show.
