Edition 3.5 was amazing for my Wizard/Rogue hybrid: Pure INT build. My wizard was pactical: he was a craftsman who made a fortune making small magical trinkets for various banal yet extremely useful effects. The rogue aspect was almost purely for the skill points every level, the highest of any class, and for combat purposes, he had custom-made crossbow bolts and his hiding skills. He would detect magic and traps, disarm them, pick locks, mine the field for ambushes, and basically MacGuyver his way through an adventure. He would also make the more mundane aspects of adventuring easier, such as inventing a powder that makes your firecamp "rainproof", so you be more comfortable camping in the rain. Every low-level adventurer needs a gadget with the Feather Fall ability, a Decanter of Endless Water is a must for drinking, hygiene (try to enter an inn after a sewer-hunting adventure) and wounds-tending.
I loved this video, I like how chill you are and how this is a build idea instead of a build guide, gives more space for concepts. Keep up with the good work, you got yourself a new fan! Also this is a really cool idea, definitely trying it out some day. I was thinking also about a psy rogue with aberrant sorcerer, could be pretty cool too
Phantom rogue+ shadow sorcerer. Sneak attack with shadow blade +50% on a second enemy with wails of the grave + quickened green flame blade on the same 2 enemies. And the ability to turn ghostly for 10 minutes while still commanding your hound? And that's just off the top of my head!
nice thematic combo but lots of bonus action clog. phantom + sorc though is definitely a good combo as sorc have so many ways to generate off-turn sneaks for rogues such as quickened bb/gfb, mirror image + sentinel, quickened haste + ready action. I'd use wild magic instead for advantage generation and to minimize the bonus action clog ideally with a good magic weapon (like the sun blade) so there's no need to cast shadow blade.
@@davidj6328 the usual suspects. War Caster for added cantrip +sneak attack on opportunity attacks and concentration protection for sure. I would take this first! Although hiding inside the floor protects your concentration too LOL
i actually got inspired by the vid to theorycraft a rogue/sorc multi that isn't a caster type for future play. "wild trickster" wild sorc 5, arcane trickster 5 custom lineage: weapon master-whip asi: sentinel, mobile metamagic: quicken spell, subtle spell key spells: booming blade (whip), mirror image, find familiar (owl) tactics: 1st turn: move within 5ft of enemy action: booming blade sneak attack with tides of chaos advantage bonus action: quicken mirror image (recharge tides of chaos) step back 5 ft familiar: help if enemy decides to move away, they will take booming blade rider dmg and you can stop them from moving with sentinel opportunity sneak attack. if enemy decides to cast spells, use shield/absorb elements/uncanny dodge if enemy decides to stay in place and attack you with reach/ranged attack, they will attack your images and thus allow you to do a sentinel reaction sneak attack. if the enemy decides to move towards you and attack you, they will take booming blade rider dmg and they will attack your images and thus allow you to do a sentinel reaction sneak attack. 2nd turn onwards: move within 5 ft of enemy if needed action: booming blade sneak attack with tides of chaos advantage bonus action: quicken mirror image/another spell to recharge tides of chaos step back 5ft familiar: help having gone through this theorycraft and sharing a similar build with a phantom fighter, i've gained a new appreciation for the phantom and i'd say AT isn't the undisputed #1 rogue. i'd say the phantom is a strong contender for #1 if the campaign is going past level 9.
Hey! I would highly advice you to invest in a new microphone! I think your content is great and should be "heard" by more people! But many people click off the video if the audio quality is bad or the audio is even just very quiet! A mic worth 25$ will already massively improve the quality of your videos! This is not an asmr channel after all 😁 Greetings and Blessings!
I dont think thief has anything to contribute here as it's a bad rogue subclass. one of the spells you failed to mention that is useful for a rogue is haste. you can do this action sequence: turn 1: bonus action: quicken haste haste action: sneak attack action: ready booming blade sneak attack reaction reaction: execute readied booming blade sneak attack turn 2 onwards: bonus action: quicken another spell of your choice haste action: sneak attack action: ready booming blade sneak attack reaction reaction: execute readied booming blade sneak attack for level splits, when playing rogue, just like artificers, they're best as a dip (3 levels) or as the main class (15-17). investing a decent amount of levels is a waste. it's either you dip and go with spells as your bread and butter (assassin is excellent here for a scorcher though not the shadow sorc as that build is focused on spell attacks. divine, wild, draconic or clock are better picks). or you main as a rogue and use sneak attacks as your bread and butter, basically playing gish.
@@TheRobversion1 no. You had action as readying an action and then listed reaction as if it were seperate. You wouldn't be able to get both but you wrote it as if you could
@@tomraineofmagigor3499 i think you misunderstood it. to be clear i am getting 1 reaction attack in a round. So in total i have 2 attacks in that round, 1 on my turn, one on anothers turn. Not 2 in my turn nor 2 off-turn. The act of readying costs an action. Hence i indicated. The reaction doesnt take place immediately. Then i listed the reaction as the readied action taking place.

Glad you enjoyed! Also, psy rogue/aberrant sorc sounds pretty awesome.
You are the only one I found with this build I was looking for
Glad I could help!

What feats tho
@@TheRobversion1 well shadow blade is only one bonus action and lasts for a minute. Not too cloggy for me but yeah I really love this build a lot

Thanks, haha. And yes, I definite need to get a mic.

one of the spells you failed to mention that is useful for a rogue is haste. you can do this action sequence:
turn 1:
bonus action: quicken haste
haste action: sneak attack
action: ready booming blade sneak attack reaction
reaction: execute readied booming blade sneak attack
turn 2 onwards:
bonus action: quicken another spell of your choice
haste action: sneak attack
action: ready booming blade sneak attack reaction
reaction: execute readied booming blade sneak attack

You do realize readying an action takes your reaction right?
