Can I just mention something that I didn't hear in the video about the importance of twin spell on a Divine Soul Sorcerer that makes reviving characters EVEN MORE important? When you twin revivify and raise dead etc etc, just like all other spells, you only consume the spell components once when you twin it. That 500gp diamond you found also gets double the value when you twin raise dead.

    • @maid_of_heart3261

@@maid_of_heart3261 I believe that would be up to the DM, but as written, I would interpret "sole effect" as if it meant if the spell is only restoring you to life and not someone else, so the material component would still apply.

I'm surprised you didn't mention two amazing high level spells for Divine Soul Sorcerers. Bestow Curse and Contagion are absolutely hilariously good on a Divine Soul Sorcerer. You can either use Distant metamagic to make the touch spells have a range of 30 feet, or you can use Heighten to make Bestow Curse a disadvantage save or suck spell (At higher levels non concentration spell too!). Not to mention if you get two really nasty enemies lined up next to one another you can even twin these spells to absolutely ruin those enemies day.

    • @greenhawk3796
      @greenhawk3796 2 года назад +1

@@nathans.3618 i've only had the chance to play it in a handful of oneshots, but the key is to make sure you and your DM really know how your MC works, and what kind of nonsense you can do (like creating additional spell slots craziness).
Make sure you also go sorc first for the constitution prof, make sure you take spells that dont have too much concentration and either immobilize enemies or enhance your weapon attacks/damage, and lastly make sure you know when to disengage. Make sure you take the pact weapon invocations, and if you dont get war caster, take the invocation that lets you have advantage on concentration. Dont fall for trap spells like hex (switch it out when you can, which is on level up i believe) and remember to focus on single target damage. Dont be afraid to eldritch smite on your first attack even if it doesnt crit.
Personally i like taking spells for out of combat, and then burning the slots for smite or converting. You can become a sorta omnipotent being with spells such as detect thoughts, and zone of truth, while also being this mysterious wrath/mercy of god entity.
I got a lil rambly, but hope this answered your question. Just remember what your intent is. You are a melee warrior enhanced by gods to do their bidding, use eldritch blast from a distance and let enemies come to you... and dont forget that with the right invocation/pact you can have pretty much any weapon, not just melee.

@@alexinfinite7142 you can. The problem is that the limited number of spells known, combined with the fact you can only concentrate on one thing at a time, means there's great spells you end up passing up. Often you can't afford to have redundant concentration option. At level one, the following are great twin options:
      Shield of Faith
      Guiding Bolt
      Healing Word
      Command
      Protection from Evil and Good
Plus Bless is a killer concentration option. You'll want to have at least one, and possibly two, of Mage Armor/Shield/Absorb Elements. And sorcs in general will often have to give up their level one spells in order to get crucial options at higher levels. Before you get twin, Bless is probably the best thing to be concentrating on. From level five, most people will want to twin Haste, or cast Spirit Guardians.

Also having a blast playing him, I'm playing him as a kind of gentle giant character. He's very imposing in both figure and charisma, yet he's the most chill man most will ever meet to the point of having to throw a wis save whenever fighting against anything humanoid or hold back his magic even against evil. This lead to a fun situation of him scaring the life out of an entire clan of bandits, and then shooing them away from attacking a caravan.

The Extended spell on Aid etc is a great way to make use of any leftover slots at the end of an adventuring day.
Spirit Guardians note: if the enemies have a choice between stabbing you ad being torn to shreds by spirits, or stabbing your friend and not being torn to shreds by them, they probs won't go for you. So it's effective even if you're not in the very thick of combat.

    • @nathansmith9597

Late as hell but I was going to mention this! There's also Death Ward, Mage Armor (cast it on familiars and pets too!), etc. - between the two spell lists, you can effectively get extra spell slots. If the DM allows Gift of Alacrity spell, pick that up with Fey Touched, and give everyone a boost to initiative. This is also one easy way to translate the Elves' Trance feature (only 4 hours for a long rest) into a direct mechanical advantage, as you'll start adventuring with 12 hours of buffs. Take Inspiring Leader and you can deliver a ton of passive support to the whole party. There's a large opportunity cost due to limited spells known for Divine Soul, and you won't be able to apply all the buffs if you had a rough day of combat and had to use most of your slots, so I wouldn't say it is broken. But it is very strong.

I waited for this greatly. So a great thanks for you dungeon dudes for another great video.
I thought a ton about this great subclass which I had not yet a chance to play.
I personally think the best metamagic for cleric spells is distant spell.
Cause, the contenders are extend and twin right?
So, extending aid? That's exciting? No it's not. Yeah so you can give a 3 players the ability to take another hit, without using resources, in the right circumstance. Not a big deal at all.
    Twin-
Healing word- a spell for raising Ko'd people. The amount of times you have two party members down in the same mkment is small. It's a good use, no doubt, but niche.
Death ward? A fine spell, but really- two of your party members got knocked out and now are on 1 hp. Casting something like hypnotic pattern or slow is much cheaper and will increase survivability by far. I do not really think there are good cleric spells to twin until heal and harm. Maybe sanctuary is interesting.
That said, twin is a must because of polymorph/haste. Not because of divine spells.
Distant spell take 3 spells to a whole new level(and costs 1 sorc point only)-
Cure wounds- combined with beacon of hope, you can easily apply this hard applying spell and heal tons of hp- you are not always in touch range to a needing party member. Even without beacon of hope, this is good. But admittedly the worst use for distant.
Inflict wounds- terrific. You can now apply from afar and to flying foes, a spell that scales greatly, and offers no saving throw but depends on hitting. Well divine souls are wonderful at sticking such spells- favored of the gods and seeking spell metamagic are great for it, not to mention empower spell that can increase damage. Also- no magic resistance, no legendary resistance. It's an underrated damage spell made fantastic with distant.
Bestow curse- when added with range, it's an improved hold monster. Wis each turn like hold monster, but it does not go away after succeeding. And only 3rd level. Downside if 30ft range against 90ft range. I'll take it. It can be upped to 5th level(as hold monster) , to be non concentration!
I think while these are not the most powerful options among the entire sorc-clr list, these are the most benefiting options fron applying metamagic to divine spells.
So I would pick distant and twin for a divine soul, and then really have a hard time at 10th between seeking, empowered and subtle.

as for meta magic, I"d agree with your recomendation, but I'd say swap subtle spell for distant spell, since you can extend range of stuff like curewounds, and you don't need to then take healing word to do party recovery from a distance. and you can pick the "good" alignment andget cure wounds for free. (I think its good...)

I'm playing a Shadow Sorcerer and there's also a Divine Soul Sorcerer in the party. I love how Sorcerers being so focused instead of being the swiss army knives like Clerics or Wizards makes it easy to have two Sorcerers in our party that aren't stepping on each other's toes at all. He does some healing with Healing Word, some buffs (Bless, twinned Haste or twinned Polymorph), and tosses around some Fireballs. I cast debuffs like Bane (from Fey touched), Hold Person, Blindness/Deafness, or Slow, and I summon a Hound of Ill Omen fairly often as well. I also use Tasha's Mind Whip, Mind Sliver, or Chill Touch to completely master the debuffs category.
We are two Sorcerers in a party of four, but we're completely not stepping on each others' toes at all because Sorcerers are so much more specialized than Clerics or Wizards are.

Fey/Shadow touched also are nice. you can, for instance, use one of them to pick up mage armor I think with fey touched? hand Misty step is always a nice get out of trouble thing tohave until you can fly. Other good spells in fey touched are bane? silvery bards (I think). Metamagic adept is nice to take early on, I agree. (as for not useful on other classes,I found bards can benefit from this feat picking up subtle spells). Ritual caster is a very nice thign to have!
I agree with taking twinned spell!. Spells I'd take is Guiding bolt indeed! I like sacred flame a lot, and Guidiance are cool stuff to have. I also like shield of faith and Mage armor. Hightened spell is a metamagic to take! Bless & Bane are so usefull as well. Normally I'd say take subtle spell on most classes. I don't always do it on this class, though. The problem I've been facing is that I'm the party's only full caster, so I end up filling a LOT of roles: healer, blaster, and defensive magic. Also Distance Spell metamagic, how do you not have that. We have far distances with my games, as well as trying to stay away from most enemies = distance spell metamagic.

Friendly reminder that if your DM has enemies heal themselves or their allies and they’re close enough, you can use Empowered Healing to try and get a lower result

There are two cleric spells that benefit greatly from Distant Spell: divine word, word of radiance. These are probably the only two area of effect spells whose area can be increased by distant spell.

Multiclassing with 1 level dip in Order cleric makes this the best support in the game. Combining voice of authority with your meta magic is so fun and feels incredibly powerful. Start sorcerer for constitution save prof then take one level in order cleric. If you have a 14 dex you can have an 18 ac with scale mail and shield. Take shield spell and shocking grasp for a melee attack and you can survive anywhere on the battlefield

Clockwork Soul should get a revamp and allow 2 spells from level 1-5 from Cleric list as known spells like aberrant/clockwork soul.
