    Awesome, entry is exactly like Paipo (wooden belly board) I love Mat surfing, it flies on the water like Paipo boarding, skimming over reef fast, without the wood gouching into your gut on a wipe out.Mat safer lol. Gonna do it !!! So pure

    Great tutorial. Purchased some Yucca fins and they are awesome. Id love to see a video on the different techniques of taking off. I see some guys paddleboard style but some are already way up on the mat…

    The mats I rented at Huntington Beach in the 1960s were as hard as a rock. The were great fun.

    These really intrigue me because in a few years I'll be able to retire back home in Hawaii but I'll be on a really low budget so, no car. But I can roll up a surf mat and carry it and a pair of fins on the bus and no one's gonna say boo. (Surfboards are not allowed on buses in Hawaii and even boogie boards are iffy.) Plus there are a lot of places I can use it to just go to like Chinaman's Hat, the sand bar near there, and maybe I'll get out to Goat Island finally.

      That must be new. I used to always take my body board and take the 55 to North Shore from town.

      Get a fourth gear flyer or a G Mat. Gradually went completely over to mats. Haven't ridden a board in ten years. They are brilliant for traveling aswell

    thanks for this-- can you say more about how to kick efficiently/well with fins? I feel like mine are too high in the water & I'm not kicking as effectively as I could. thanks!

    Looks a fun craft , can you duck dive them

    • @yuccafins
      @yuccafins  Год назад +2

      As you can imagine they are hard to duck dive, all the air. For me it'its all about timing and waiting out the sets and trying to sneak out during a lull and use the rips to get me out.

    Which mat is the fastest?

  • @joelg7670
    @joelg7670 2 месяца назад

    Objection! (respectfully....) Start with a full mat, especially if you're new at riding a surf mat. It will be easier to get out, and, catch waves from the jump filled with air, full. The volume will naturally decrease once you're in the water and air cools down in the mat. You'll notice a natural flex in the mat that happens waiting for sets to roll in, viola! If you're not at a 45 degree angle, it's easy to uncap the mat and find the low inflation that works for you. Just don't get water in mat if you can avoid it! F*@ck around and find out, mats are great for tinkering and seeing what works best in different conditions. 4GF, G-Mat and Warp Mat owner, they all ride fast ~

    What model of 4th Gear Flyer is that in the video? Is that your preferred mat vs the Krypt and G mat in the background?

    • @geoffreylevens9045
      @geoffreylevens9045 4 года назад +1

      Krypt design was stolen from Dale Solomonson, the original creator of the modern surfeit. 4th Gear Flyer & G Mats are hand made in US and Great Britain respectively while the Krypt is made in a factory in China or similar.

      @@geoffreylevens9045 technically Dale made that design for mark according to Marks descriptions it worked extremely well but Dale would not sell or make it as it was Marks . Mark simply started using his own design and got an Asian maker to mass produce it . people hated on mark simply because he was competition for Dale .now they have transfered it into mark is a bad guy for the dunking incident and some even have gone on to say the krypt is poorly made which is not true

      @@XxmattitudexX "The dunking incident" is not an endorsement of character! I have heard that the Krypt is quite well made and does work well.
