SHUT THE HELL UP YOUR DAMN ANNOYING!
I laughed when that person said you cant graft trees. Grafting is the only way to reproduce specific types of apples. If you planted the seeds of an apple and they actually came to grow, the apples wouldnt be the same. The seeds carry a hybrid of the trees apples and whatever other tree pollinated it.
To be fair, I was today days old when I learned about tree grafting.
@@awkwardcultism yea I had apple trees growing up. That being said its classic the dunning kruger effect. I wouldn't say something as definitive as what they said assuming I know more than I do. At least I would try and do some research to make sure.
Seriously I'm just a hobby gardener at best and even I already have crafted trees. Only like three times in my whole life but still, it's not uncommon at all and depending on what trees you are crafting something even a beginner can do once they learned the basics.

Doesn’t this also happen with avocados? I’m pretty sure they also don’t grow true to seed
You know, the explanation with Karera’s photo is actually more in character with her than any other alternative.
Not at all. She even has full knowledge about the fruit, that would be impossible if she just randomly went up to them to take a picture. I'm generaly completely against the notion of Araki forgot, much like Hamon beat, but with Jojolion Araki clarly had other intentions at the beginning of the part (unkown man, bite marks, equivalent exchange, norisuke villain, yagiyama saying he killed josuke with his own hands before, etc) but then changed his mind later.
The way Kira doesn't notice but Josefumi does and looks at the camera and Karera trying to play it cool is totally in character lol
@@chicoti3 Norisuke villain? The only reasono for Norisuke acting villanous is because he was suspicious of Josuke's origins.
@@red1bk190 I mean let's be real
If your had to keep your youngest daughter alone with a man you had just met for the first time, and nobody even knew he existed until now, you'd be highly protective of her too
@@hilotakenaka that's the whole point of it being a contradiction to his later appearances. He wasn't protective of her, he was willing to let josuke have his way with her if it meant making josuke his slave, something that Norisuke himself later contractics saying he wants what is best for josuke and that he is like his own son.
And before you say this is because he grew fond of Josuke, this was before he and josuke had any sort of interaction.
My thoughts on Flashback Man. Araki wanted Damo to be a menacing, sexy villain as is his usual, but then he watched American Hustle and rewrote him to be Christian Bales character
”It happened that way because Araki saw it in a movie” feels like a very on-brand answer.

Hot Summer Martha felt like Araki just venting out on what he did on JoJolion like that story was about Rohan not feeling that 6 months have passed and he wasn't content with it which was indirectly responsible by Covid so I can understand why the last parts of Jojolion felt like he rushed it or he forgot a lot of stuff

Part 8 will probably forever be my favorite part despite how some might feel about it. I love seeing how the product of Johnnys sacrifices have affected the world.
SAME HEEE!
2nd favourite for me but YESS
Also regarding Johnny's death.
I've always accepted the explanation that he got killed by a boulder because he tried shoot (or rather pursue) the curse/calamity which reacts by killing him, You even eventually explained that Wonder of U itself is a power that always existed and it is very much linked with Calamity so why wouldn't the boulder be a part of that same Calamity? I know the Autumn leaves somehow contributed to it but Autumn leaves doesn't appear a stand that attacks back, I was under the impression that Autumn leaves was affected by calamity as well to kill Johnny or perhaps is there a misunderstanding?
There is this vid about the "single shot theory" that explains the calamity that killed Johnny and how gravity and all that, it's a good vid.
@@benjamincharlton1388 yeah, seen that. that's where I got the idea, loved it
@@benjamincharlton1388 was about to comment with it but yeah you beat me to it. Good video
It’s the leaves that made the rock move onto his head and kill him. The whole idea of the stand is that it can move things touching the leaves a great distance forward. Since the rock was touching the leaves as it gained the stand, the rock moved forward and crushed him
@@aspiretobe7320 I think many of the people saying it was caused by calamity are aware of that, as the one-shot theory goes more in depth on. Autumn Leaves transports the boulder, but the creation of Autumn Leaves either up to where the boulder was, or the boulder rolling onto the affected area, is, in the theory, attributed to the flow of calamity attacking Johnny in retaliation. His spin, existing beyond reality and time, allegedly is what finally enables Go Beyond, and the eventual defeat of Calamity via Wonder of U.
It's a pretty interesting concept, honestly.
18:59 I can't believe this was the funniest shit I've heard in a while
"Such as the rock animal Dododo De Dadada 🗿"
I got into jojo at the perfect time, finished jojolion very recently
(Edit:)
Okay, I just found out that in later editions, the birthmark is removed. Maybe when it first appeared, it was an oversight but I also get the feeling that Araki had a different direction for Josefumi. I guess my interpretation is mooted. I am admittedly disappointed because I feel like it Jojolion would've been thematically stronger if Josefumi is an illegitimate Joestar but hey, I care more if Araki fufills his vision.
(original:)
I thought it's rather implied with how Josefumi is a Joestar since the last few chapters. It has been revealed that Fumi is in fact Joseph Joestar and it was shown that before he left to America and being stuck there, he had a Japanese girlfriend who he deeply cared for and he told her to wait before he returns only to never come back. I don't have any evidence the girl is a Kujo or that they ever slept together but considering how in the original universe Joseph had an affair with a Japanese woman to later have Josuke wouldn't be too far off. It would explain how Josefumi is a Joestar
I might be wrong but why else would Araki even bother bringing up that he has a girlfriend and then have it that they never got together again and Joseph starts a family with a different person?
especially with the similarities in the name it’s basically pronounced jospeh umi
Thiking about it again, its still a possibility. Sure Josefumi's granddad might have found the sandals and named him after it but it's likely that probably Joseph's ex had a son (Joseph's side) and made sweet love to Josefumi's mom thus leading to Josefumi's birth.
Just as Araki emphasized so much on the sandal, so did he emphasize on the girlfriend and being an aspiring writer myself, it must be something important, otherwise it's a waste of time to even mention or show that Joseph has a girlfriend.
Well we now know it was just a mistake
11:28 I always took this as Josuke using Soft and Wet to push back, and his stand is just around his body like how Jotaro uses SP to jump during the fight with Dio. You can see S&W right next to Josuke at 11:50.
As for the stands interacting with people and objects, I always saw it as a one way sort of thing. Stands can interact with people if the user wants them to, but not the other way around, since stands are purely spiritual in nature. That's just my take imo.
Then again, there's a scene where Jolyne (albeit via Stone Free, IIRC) flings a pen at Under World (Donatello Versus' Stand) and it pierces his neck.
@@najadamu2724 The pen was from Under World though.
I know its a year ago but stands only being hurt or interacted by stands is something that's basically only just stated, stands have been stabbed with objects and other stuff before. It isn't really an Araki Forgot moment but it's so incredibly inconsistent that this explanation of stands having a form that can or can't be touched makee a lot more sense, mista's stand has also shot bullets at stands before which would be useless since the gun isn't the stand itself. It's very inconsistent so trying to make sense of it is almost impossible
21:45 after the newest reprints, it is confirmed to be an "Araki Forgot"
You can't say that because he never forget!!
Eh I'd say less an Araki forgot and more an Araki fucked up cuz it could've been an error to begin with, that is unless he ends up explaining his plans changed buuuut who knows
@@nuketeehee640that's basically forgetting isn't it?
@@thefruitman3200 forgetting and making a mistake is different, Araki has had Lisa Lisa accidentally depicted with a Joestar birthmark as well, mistakes are bound to happen at some points.

Flashback Man literally couldn't be anyone we've seen though. The entire point of Gappy is that he doesn't have any memories. From what I recall he doesn't have any other experiences like this, meaning this is (most likely) a dropped plot point.
Absolutely 100% agree with you. Almost every manga and the respectful Mangaka have some kind of dropped plotline or changed concepts mid story.
Araki is not immune to the common human phenomenon of changing his mind and it kinda peeves me that Hamon Beat pretty much constantly acts under the assumption that for some reason every last detail of a part is planned out from the very beginning.
Well I don't believe that Flashback Man is another character, since Josuke would have obviously said "I know that man! I saw him in a vision!"

23:08 Lol so it implies this image is just Karera creeping up on the two minding their own business and her just taking a selfie with them with Kira just trying to ignore her XD.
Another possibility for the flashback man was that he was just meant to represent Josuke thinking he could get his memories back since that's usually what happens with amnesia plotlines. If he does end up being an actual character I doubt it would've been one we saw in part 8 since Josuke never mentions that any of the characters he meets are familiar to him. He might be connected to the blessings of the earth or be some other important character to part 9's plot, but I don't think it's very likely since the flashback shows Josuke himself being the one meeting the flashback man which would've been impossible unless he managed to climb out of the ground, find a shirt, see the flashback man, then get undressed and climb under the rubble again which is possible but unlikely.
Or it was a vision into a future event that Araki dropped or something like that. Just like how Johnny saw Jesus in part 7, and so did blackmore, and kaato saw the shrine in a vision with the strong wind blowing.
It reminded me most of Flashback Person in Part 4 that was written off as a total coincidence, but *really* seemed like it was the result of some sort of time-travelling Josuke saving himself from being stranded in the snow.
@@felix_forrester ehhh part 4 flashback man was just a way to explain why Josuke is so defensive about his out of date haircut, Araki even talked about that in an interview around that time. Hopefully we might get an interview about part 8 sometime in the future but who knows.
hmm maybe, tbh if it's a character we know it could be a vision of Johnny as a saint but if that were the case I feel like he would either come back more often or have more design similarities with him
The wiki says that Josefumi's star was removed from recent reprints of the manga. That makes it a certified "Araki forgot" moment.
That's not even Araki's fault though
@@Duothimirif it was removed it's because Araki asked for it to be removed. Obviously because it was either a mistake or a dropped plot point and so when the chapters were going to be reprinted Araki would have told his editor "hey could you remove this? I didn't end up going anywhere with it so no point leaving it there as a point of confusion"
Because contrary to what Hamon Beat would have you believe, Araki is a normal human who can change his mind and drop plot points like literally every other Mangaka and writer in existence
at the time this was uploaded there wasnt an actual explanation until this year (2023) for that birthmark it was just a mistake lol
Araki changing his mind and dropping plot points is not forgetting.
Ehh the flashback man being Yotsuyu doesn't sit well with me. Early jojolion puts so much emphasis on Josuke being obsessed over reclaiming his identity and memories. Considering flashback man was his one and only memory from the past, he would have obviously recognized yotsuyu if he was supposed to be the flashback man.
I think Araki just decided to not pursue this plot point and retconned it with the several instances where Josuke says he has no memories of his previous lives.
This sorta works with Tooru's thinking that at the end of one's life, all that's left are dreams (in this case, possibly flashback man) and memories
I think the flashback man might be someone important like Kira Yoshiteru, but it's impossible to say
He was only there for that one chapter
Perhaps part 9 will clarify this further
@@mrfact03s no need to be so toxic
i saw one theory that maybe the "bite marks" from the wall eyes are actually just more miniature "wall eyes" opening up on the skin of people with stand potential if they get close
I like that
I think someone made a theory about a possible link between Go Beyond and Johnny's last attack. Much like how Tusk ACT 4's infinite spin pursue the target forever, it tracked the Calamity responsible for the curse, indirectly causing the miracle of Josuke and all the necessary coincidences to lead for an opening at Wonder of U. This is a huge interpretation, and I don't know if Araki would actually think this far, but if anything, it's kind of a poetic victory for Johnny, sacrificing himself in order to get one shot at the curse.
There is one. It's called the single shot theory.
I mean the spin has its own gravity which leads it to being not of their world but its own, which is how it broke down D4C's dimensional barriers
Also considering part 7 also used the word "worlds" when refering to dimensions, yeah, tbh this was more of a translation issue because who tf uses "worlds", Dimension is more used, which is also why Go Beyond felt weirder than it should tbh since it really just functions the same as act 4's spin just not controlled
The spin has its own gravity which follows its own dimensional rules, which is why it could move in Diegl's time stop, and compete against Love Train's dimensional walls, the latter being like 2 magnets, following this idea, Go Beyond adhering to its own logic instead of the logic of WOU makes sense, its not of their dimension
Honestly if part 7 and 8 used the word "dimension" instead of "worlds" it wouldnt get so much slack, since it was always there from chapter 1, and it fit's josuke as he is one that shouldnt exist, his existence is a miracle of coincidence

thank you for clearing up the purpose of that baby washing up on shore. Its been the mystery i wanted an answer to most (i thought it was going to be how Poor Tom or Tooru arrived to Morioh) but the Saint miracles and the flow makes sense. Still hope that dripped out baby comes back somehow.
45 minutes of hamon beat unloading his superior intellect on us. this is what i subscribed for
To me it doesn't look like intelect. To me it looks like probably exhaustive research to insane levels and a lot of help from other people, which I think is more commendable. Tho not being dumb probably helped with that too.
@@PotatoKun01 i believe i was attempting to make a joke
@@caddydonstans116 Well I wouldn't know that would I
@@caddydonstans116 no you werent, you just like silly now
@Mattriones Well, you "like" silly too!
Bro I FORGOT. Reading jojolion month to month as it came out made me forget so many different things lmao
Hamon Beat is like the modern-day Greek chorus
One of the best things about Araki forgot is that Hamon Beat inadvertently provides a neat and clear full summary of that part in particular
Or maybe Josefumi's birthmark is a tattoo in honor of Holly and Kira the two people who saved his life
I can't believe no one ever thought of this, this is definitely a possibility!
That’s a cool theory, but sadly it’s confirmed to be an Araki forgot
The topic you brought up that really taught me something new was the Tsurugi timer one
I thought flashback man was gonna be Jobin minus his hairpin & it was gonna be some hint of a meeting between him and Kira prior to his death. Both are on a mission to protect their family, after all
phenomenal video, as always. this all really makes me believe that Wonder of U is a regional manifestation of calamity tied to Morioh because of Johnny's indirect creation of the wall eyes. Just like residents were able to harness the saints corpse power to awake stands, their counterparts, the rock humans, finally had a user who managed to harness calamity from the land
Hamon, i just wanted to say i really admire what you do in this channel thanks for everything. Stopping big misinfos in a community widely and going deeper on topics of Jojo isnt something little. Great video as always :)
This was very helpful especially the flash forward part. I took a brief break in reading and had completely forgotten it was a flash forward, so I was still confused about it when I finished it.
It’s wonderful to finally have a debunking video for every part
Holy moly a 40 minute vid from hamon beat?!
I gonna grab my popcorn for this
FINALLY HERE WE GO
44 MINUTE FEAST
7:52 I believe the marking is a reference to Jethro Tull( Under Wraps)
Bro i just finished Jojolion. What perfect timing
33:30 I like how Araki drew Sadako in there as part of "humans" as well
Now THIS is what I’ve been waiting for.
damn, my binge ends here. I haven't finished JoJolion so I cannot watch this without being spoiled.
Oh I have been looking forward to this! There has been so much misinformation about this part spread around and it is gonna be great to have some clear explanation!
Can't wait for Debunking Araki forgot Part 9 The Jojolands
just finished the video and goddamn that was a lot of misconception. keep up the great work
This video motivated me to finally finish JoJolion, so I smashed it out from start to finish. Watching this was a great way to put the cherry on the sundae.
Thanks very much for an awesome video and helping clear up a few questions that I had rattling around.
I was honestly pretty mixed about jojolions ending but this helped change my opinion a bit. It’s easier to see the themes that araki was going for now when taking a big look back at it like thisz
the shoe store bit is fucking hilarious
For Josefumi's birthmark, it was confirmed that it was a mistake, so thanks for the theory but its actually a forgot
new Hamon Beat video pog!
these explanations make me enjoy part 8 even more
Just finished part 8 been waiting to watch this for a while
know you worked extra hard for this one boss man
6:57 I wonder how that discussion went down.
"Um, Araki-San. We uh, couldn't help but notice how.... different JOJOLION is from the other parts. We enjoyed it, but we do need your help when it comes to adapting it. Specifically, WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON?!?!?!?!?"
Just finished Jojolion and wow what a part! I think I prefer the new universe to the old one, though I love both. Can't wait for Part 9
Thank you for clearing up the flashforward. With that said, the countdown seems to be tied to the present day as opposed to the body bag scene, cause it wouldn't make sense since the harvest started at that time.
having to say tree grafting is a real thing is so funny to me
There hasn't been a Jojo part yet (aside from part 1 for obvious reasons) that hasn't brought back and elaborated on plot details or characters from the previous part. There's almost a zero percent chance Araki hasn't left some stuff unsaid in Jojolion so he can bring it back in Jojolands. Most notably, Josuke obviously still wants to cure his mother (Holy) and he mentioned something about islands in the south sea (maybe a reference to the Hawaii of Jojolands?)
The moment we’ve all been waiting for…
This is a great video that’s helped me understand my favorite part a little bit more
Why didn't jotaro use star finger to kill the wonder of u?
Random commentor not knowing tree grafting exists will never not be funny to me
It's really wild being an older Jojo fan and seeing all these new fans speed read the story so they can brag about it because it's the new hotness. How else do you miss SO many details from a story that tends to explain it's details?
LMAO LITERALLY, ARAKI EXPLAINED SO MUCH ABOUT IT
I don't speed read on purpose, I read part 8 in 2 days because I couldn't put that shit down. I think I get most of what's being conveyed. Some of the things in this video made me crack up like Jobin being on the camera, and the girl in the bin. Like how do you miss that stuff?
How about you not be a dick who blames "new fans" as though you have any knowledge of when these people started reading.
Hamon Beat fans are eating good this week. Three videos?? Let’s gooo
Even if a viewer isn't claiming that Araki forgot something, it helps clarify the events that happened in this long and somewhat confusing part.
Been a long time coming
Somebody give this man his masters degree in jojology already
36:50 It's you jouske, you're the jojolion all along
I went into JoJolion expecting nothing, but it turned out to be one of my favorite manga of all time.
finally so many years before i could watch this
I have never really bought into the idea that The Flashback Man is an early design for a different character. Putting aside that he's never connected to a future character, I don't think it's like Araki to completely redesign a character later on and not keep some similar elements. The best example I can think of is Mitsuba, who reappeared way after we see her initially with a new design, but their hair is at least similar enough to signal that they are the same. Meanwhile, no one else in the story looks like FBM. Having Damo, Yotsuyu, or anyone be FBM doesn't sit right. Personally, I think he was a part of a plotline that Araki was planning for JJL, and for whatever reason he had to scrap both. Maybe if Part 9 is a continuation of 8, he'll come up again. If he doesn't, then I hope the anime just gets rid of him to spare the audience from waiting for a reveal that will never happen.
It's prolly Damo with a reverse valentine
@@azadrahulp FBM looks nothing like Damo. And if they were the same, why wouldn't Josuke even think to himself that he's seen Damo before? Why would Araki lay out a tease for a character, and when that character is introduced, he doesn't connect them to the initial tease? And when would Josuke have seen Damo? It is his memory after all, not Kira's or Josefumi's, and Damo clearly has no idea who Josuke is when he met him initially. I just don't think FBM=Damo makes much sense or has much to stand on.
"How did he get new shoes? You can't explain that!!"
"Here we have proof he did the most boring and obvious thing possible - he literally _went to the shoe store_ and _bought_ new ones."
5:40 that looks like the part 9 jojo that got shown recently
This is the one I've been waiting for years
In theory you had a good idea for Josefumi's birthmark, but with later reprintings of Part 8 removing it, I think we need to assume it was a genuine mistake.
We never saw Gappy's four balls on-screen so Araki must've forgotten
You know its banger when it's 44 minutes long
If Mr. Flashback was supposed to be an early design, Josuke would've had a specific reaction to the character. So no, that doesn't work.
Not necessarily. If Araki redisigned the character he may have decided to just ignore the flashback instead of confusing the reader by refering to a flashback with what appears to be a different character.
@@boianko Araki just didn't follow up on Mr. Flashback. Josuke would recognize someone from his memories if they were supposed to be Mr. Flashback.
Yeah plus Araki decided later that Josuke *could never* access his memories ever again, that they were gone and he was essentially a new person, and that's a really important fact for his character arc and the themes of the story.
So really he should't have been able to flashback at all, and we should consider the flashback retconned out and hope they skip it in the anime.
Honestly Araki just retconned Flashback man
Part 8 isnt perfect, for me the main issues are the middle with Guerilla and Hawaii, Flashback man being retconned (unless Araki does some crazy shit and puts him in part 9) and Kei being wasted so much
@@eoincampbell1584 if Araki decides to make it a flashforward and we see Josuke meeting flash"forward" man in part 9, im eating a book
