As I headed out for what I thought would be a half day trip to catch the weather window I noted that the wind was above forecast, and very cold, that wasn't good.
Since I travel over an hour to get to the ramp, I decided that I was going to continue with the plan and hope that the wind eased off a bit. Wonder of wonders, it did just that. Not only did it ease off, but the stronger wind forecast to start around lunch time didn't show up until much later.
Of course, I had more of the technical difficulties that have plagued me for the last couple of trips. It turned out that I couldn’t use the new squid jig I bought which was a disappointment. Then I discovered that I had forgot to charge my camera batteries, so I had to ration the video camera usage. My video recorder I use to record the Furuno is still playing up and the software I use to record the TimeZero screen decided to exit for some reason.
Still, I had a great trip, the weather was perfect, and I hooked two fish that gave me a good fight.

You are correct about the fresh bait Paul it makes all the difference. I generally find catching the bait a pleasant activity anyway.

Yes, I enjoy it when it isn't too hard to get. It can be a bit frustrating when the bait schools are really small.

Nice one Paul. I was in the Quintrex spot-locked closest to you when you hooked up to that Mac Tuna. Sure gave you a fight!

stripy or mack tuna is the BEST dead bait I've ever used for anything. As for crab bait - crabs eat fish and not chicken so I don't subscribe to the myths of stinky chicken. I always keep bonito or mack tuna for bait

It does make great strip bait. I hooked a Marlin on one last year. Crabs also love them and my wife love blue swimmers so some has to be reserved for that. :-)
