The votes came in and it was a landslide decision, so it's a full shelf melt. A hell of a lot of melts going on today with some awesome bars and they're all quite clean considering no flux was used, and they were just slag and dust And don't forget that Indiana Jones and goonies coin 👍🏻. Now sit back relax and Enjoy the video as I always say have an awesome day and I'll see all you amazing people hopefully next Friday 👋🏻😁 Well I'll be here either way👊🏻😃
Awesome as always but cannot wait to see whats under the tarp, I wonder what you would end up with if you mixed it altogether.? Watching you or Games on PC.
That was awesome!!! 🤙🤙🤙💜💜💜💙💙💙 About time you took the dogs for a walk. So beautiful. 😍😍😍 I'll shoot you an email w/ some pics of what I do to relax and unwind. It's gorgeous. And those bars holy..... 😍😍😍 And the coins were PERFECT. Good job. As for the dust, possibly magnesium and potassium and or added w/ zinc. That's way too bright and reactive to not be mag. Rained here too. 🤨 Have an awesome weekend. 🤙🤙🤙💜💜💜💙💙💙
If you’re worried about overheating zinc yet again in the future, I’ve heard that you can melt glass in the same crucible and it’ll float on top without mixing, protecting the metal from oxygen. Apparently it’s a common practice since most if not all metals produce at least a little oxide when melted and exposed to oxygen.
Glass, sand, flux, borax, all work and are common. If you're worried about impurities or use particularly reactive metals, a constant trickle of argon gas also works.
Glass melts 1400-1600C. Zinc melts 429.5C. Zinc boils at 907C. Glass will be solid and float on top of boiling zinc until zinc is all gone. I can’t see where there would be protection from oxygen.
I must say I was surprised how big the bars ended up being, I didn't think there'd be that much good metal in dusts and slags. Very nice and enjoyable to watch!
Hey there my friend cheers for the super thanks much appreciated. Yes, I need to really do some more of my stuff in the storage area behind my shed. A lot of it won’t take much to get through just a bit of time. Time is very limited over here, but I’ll get there buddy👊🏻. I’m really hoping to smash out my 680 kg motor I’ve had sitting there for awhile (under the tarp) that’s gonna take a lot of work but definitely be worth it in the end. Have a great rest of the weekend 😁
Aluminium likes to react with oxygen. On its surface you always have a layer made of aluminium oxide. So my guess is that all your aluminium dust was aluminium oxide dust and you won’t get any aluminium metal from it. Aluminium is usually purified using electrolysis and not melting, because you have to force the aluminium to let go of the oxygen.
I was about to comment something similar. The metal in the dust particles are probably too small for the Al to get through the oxide coating. No problem for the larger pieces though. Now back to the vid for the puppers.
I learned something new thanks to you. I always thought that aluminum oxide was purified using a reducing agent when smelting but electrolysis sounds like a better idea and it can be done outdoors using solar panels and batteries while mr. stacks does some melting. or even better, mr. stacks could try to make some thermite with that dust if he hasn't already for content.
Aluminium is a crazy metal... its extremely soft relative to steels but mixed with oxygen to form Aluminium oxide... it's what sandpaper is made out of and has a hardness that equivalent to tungsten carbine or one of the hardest materials on earth
No problems, buddy. Thanks again mate. Have yourself some safe travels and I hope you’re hungry because there’s a hell of a lot of food and drink over here to get through. See you soon, mate.👊🏻😁.
Yay, slag and dust. I have been waiting for this for a long time. Whenever you hide away the dust and the slag I always think that you will never get around to it, but here we are. And loved the Pink Floyd sounds.
I like to ride my motorcycle to relax and unwind. Wind in my face, my favorite music playing in my helmet. Ride out until I need fuel and then ride back home after fueling up. It's really does help me wind down.
Oh man! For some reason I haven’t had notifications for the last two videos! Glad to see this one BSD! I’ll have to catch up over the next few days. Have an amazing week everyone!
If you hadn’t melted the Mrs’ sewing machines a few years ago, she could sew up your koozie. Im on my yearly vacation to the beach . Thanks for the video and the nod to Money. That was funny
hi.. mate how are you ? What a nice video, with bars and coins of all metals, that was excellent, a good addition of metal to your pile. He missed seeing his shoes thrown against the wall. although it cost him dearly for breaking his shoes Don't you use the ice block more to support the hot ingots? I hope to disassemble that big engine in the next video. Excellent video. have a very good week cheers
Glad you enjoyed it buddy and cheers again for the super thanks you’re a champion. The big 680 kg motor Im hoping to put out in two weeks but if not it’ll more than definitely be this month. It’s just gonna take a lot of time that’s all but it’s coming very soon👍🏻😁. Have a great weekend.
I relax and unwind by watching your vids D. If I'm having trouble sleeping, I can guarantee that the sound of that forge will have me asleep in no time at all.
So glad I break these videos up in several sittings to get me throughout the week. After the weekend and Monday I had this is therapy to me. I need to get in on the melting game someday. Need to own my own house oppose to renting to be able to do stuff like this.
I have been waiting since, maybe 700 kg for a full slag and dust melt! Oh my goodness, it's finally happening?! Watching with baited breath and anticipation! :) That 1000x zoom is insane how wild everything looks under that level of scrutiny.
26:41 Relax and unwind includes watching your videos, as you say "Now sit back relax...", and while sometimes I get sleepy, I always look forward to watching your monkeys at the end of the video. 28:48 Coke Oreos, and last week you introduced Oreo Coke, hope these products come to Canada soon, and perhaps the Philippines when I visit next week (for a month.) John
Well thanks for dropping back in mate. I put the boys at the end of the videos now so I can add a little bit more of them plus the fact they do bloody nothing so it’s not that exciting. Whenever I show them in the middle of the videos People, skip straight through or click away🤷🏻♂️.
I watch your videos and walk through the meadows and fields with my metal detector to relax. I then find a lot of different metals that I keep at home so that I can melt them into bars at some point, like you do. Just try to invent a special metal alloy that has your name or name it after your dogs, such as Buling or Ingbul.
55:02 I have had that white-hot aluminium oxide in my melts before. I'm not sure on exactly what causes it, but when I remelt my aluminium slag it is a lot more common, especially if I overheat it and its somewhat buried in the crucible. After you expose it to air, it seems to get very bright as if it is burning a bit like zinc, and if you put it into water when its very hot and white it explodes sometimes, or skids across the water like burning sodium. It seems like it reacts with the water, separating the oxygen or hydrogen
That's an awesome backyard and view from the backyard. No wonder spy planes fly over so frequently. 😅 Having a kangaroo crossing sign in my driveway would be awesome. Time to learn to print signs. Lol

Your Asterix t-shirt is so rad! And I loved the perfect sample of “Money” when sorting the slag. Great work this week I’ve been waiting for the dust/slag melt for so long.
I am not an expert but I'm Geman and Germans know how to keep things in order 😀It's not easy to keep track of different kinds of metal if you don't organize. I suggest to get some containers properly labelled to collect all slag and failed pours. Right after you melted something put slag and failed pours into the appropriate container and you won't ever have to wonder what this stuff is in your jars. You won't need many containers. One for copper, one for aluminium, one of zinc, one for nordic gold... you get the pricture. It doesn't matter where the slag and all came from as long as they are in the right container. Once a container has a decent amount you can simply melt it, being sure it's all the same kind of metal. Or you can keep going the same way you always did which is also fun to watch. Anyways, keep it up, I like your videos!
Hi there buddy cheers for the super thanks. It’s much appreciated That’s for sure and will definitely come in handy to help me rehydrate as next week. I’m gonna tear apart that 680 kg Motor I have hidden under the tarp. It’s gonna be a hell of a big job that’s for sure, and if I can’t get 35-40kg of copper out of it I’m gonna be very disappointed. Stay tuned buddy that video should be out hopefully this month.👊🏻😁
Brasses melting point is extremely close to it’s boiling point and if you boil brass it will react with oxygen and produce zinc oxide which it’s that yellow/white cobweb stringy stuff you sometimes see on other brass melts . It’s not the biggest problem to deal with but it can certainly make a hell or a mess 👍🏻
I like to relax and unwind with my best You tube melt guy and drink a beer. Yes the AL was gone so that's why you got nothing but real dust that's not worth saving. Nice haul on the melt either way 😁
I go to work to relax and unwind. I was asking myself, why am I still watching this Muppet? And the answer was I like watching the destruction, tearing apart and the Devil's Forge.
👍👌👏 That's quite a good result for emptying the slag and dust shelf. Congratulations 🎉 2) Nice stroll with the dogs. Thanks a lot for making teaching explaining recording editing uploading and sharing. Best regards luck and especially health to all involved life forms (humans, animals and plants)

"This slag will have a lot of slag."
Funny how that works. 😜
Double Trouble, one of my favorite Elvis movies..... it actually has a plot. Though my favorite is still Follow That Dream.
Why not throw on some flux, like a low sodium salt? In theory youd get a much better yield from your slag that way; or is your experience otherwise?
That was awesome!!! 🤙🤙🤙💜💜💜💙💙💙

Add one more to the Aluminum Oxide theory. It has a much higher melting point as well.

Aluminium likes oxygen so much it pulls it off rust. Maybe we'll see thermite here, hopefully not accidentally.
