Just fitted the passenger side bracket on my 2018 XLT Ranger. If your not use to pulling the panels off with a bit of force on your pride and joy its a little nerve racking. I found using two trim tools made it a little easier. If you don’t have trim tools good idea to get some. Make sure they’re the plastic type usually in a set. Take a look at the video and you can see where the dash clips are. I took my time so about 1 hour , because I’m slow. Anyhow used the Dremel type tool with the carbide attachment. A sharp box cutter to trim the plastic swarf off. A bit of pushing and shoving but fits like a glove. Good bit of gear and great how to video.
Ha. I literally just ordered today the left and right side of the out there and back mount. Before Xmas I asked if they had a LHS, they said wait for late January. Then today your video pops up on my RUclips
Ok....finally watched the full vid, to find you used the quad lock mount too😂😂😂 Ok, next up, I'm finalky getting round to fitting the scrub king bonnet mount UHF bracket. (Fire extinguisher bracket done) I expect your vid to be up on RUclips. 😂😂😂
@@paulg101 I’ve actually got the GMF UHF bracket already installed which is pretty much the same bracket. I always get asked about that bracket! Awesome design
Hi, Just fitted the drivers side microphone bracket using the quad lock system to turn into a phone mount. Vehicle Ford Ranger 2018 PX11 XLT. Removing the air vent was simple using a trim tool. Suggest you use a wide blade as the lugs on the Air vent are on each side. The video gives you a good understanding. Fitting the bracket It’s a “very” precise fit. I had to trim, about 3mm off the right side of the dash mounting lip which fits into the slot cut into the bracket. This “just” allowed me to pick up the 7mm bold/screw which picks up the thread in the dash bracket which was taken out to fire the plate. Not sure if there is a difference between the PX1 and PX11 or just variation in any build which is to be expected? Anyhow it’s a tight fit. My suggestion (manufacturing)would be to extend the slot to the right by a couple of mm to allow for t his variation. You would also need to trim the width on the left side, again a few mm to allow the bracket fitting tolerance. Quod Lock base plate. Fits well and the large iPhone clears the wiper leaver, doesn’t interfere with the screen and minimal/if any obstruction to air flow. However I was unable to get the bottom plate bolt and nut on. It fouled the dash but three is sufficient. Anyhow really a good bracket and like anything just take your time if it needs a bit of adjustment. Also take the option to run a charging cord through the dash out the top of the vent. One less wire to rattle around in the console well. Now for the other side
Hey Scott. Thanks for ordering mate. Really appreciate it. I've fitted around 200 of these and there is no need to cut anything on the drivers side version. Only the passenger UHF only version. On the drivers version, when you put it into place the lip should fit into the rectangular hole in the bracket. Sometimes a screw driver is needed just to prize it into the hole as not all cars are identical as the plastic might not have formed during the moulding process at manufacture of the dash.. The Bracket bolt hole might not line up perfectly depending on who put the car together at factory. Put the bolt into the bolt hole and push on it with ratchet up to the left and start turning. Once the bolt bites, it will pull the bracket into alignment. Tighten up and your good to go.
Used stainless dome nuts for a smoother finish against the dash, and cleaner look, unfortunately, the bottom left bolt, has a standard nut as domed wouldn't fit, but you don't see it anyhow, as this one is directly in front of the dash edge trim.
Noticed you took the back off the GME mount, I was going to just get longer bolts. Stainless M3 x16 with stainless domed nuts and remove the OEM screws and replace. I notice, or it looks like, you removed this backing piece??
Hey great product. Just ordered one to mount the new scanguage 3. Where did you get your dash mat from, is that a ford mat or aftermarket brand. Cheers, keep up the good work.

Exactly what I was looking for. I’ve wanted to have the handset out of the way. Enjoying your videos. Just a question, where did you get your dash mat from. Looks like a good one👍
Thanks Paul. Glad your enjoying the vids and it has helped you out. I got my dash mat from the ford dealer, but they are just the Sunland brand. Fits really well and happy with it. Cheers
Hey mate. Since the vid I’ve actually just changed it over. It was the basic head on the windscreen mount before I changed it over to the wireless head but I found I couldn’t get it tight enough and it didn’t hold the phone firmly. I have now swapped over to the Quad Lock 360 Head - Lever And the Quad Lock 360 Base - Flat Rectangle Base - 4 Hole. It’s so much better. I’m actually gonna do a follow up vid to let everyone know.
@@paulg101 yeh you can. Quadlock + OUT THERE AND BACK = The BEST Phone Mount ruclips.net/video/daurpPGkQQ4/видео.html I chose not to do the wireless head as the phone still needs to be plugged in for CarPlay
The quad lock wireless charge head doesn't fit the mount. The weatherproof wireless charge head does, but that's huge. Android Auto plugged in anyway, as PX3 Ranger doesn't have wireless charger or wireless Android Auto/Apple car play.
I have found a better solution! I’ll be dropping a vid in the next few days about what you can use and it’s perfect 👍🏻 still uses the Quad lock system 👌🏻
I’ve just fitted the Strike Universal phone cradle with FME External Antenna connector to the drivers side mount. Fitted easily and perfectly. I chose the iPhone version which comes with Lightening cable and connects via CarPlay.
Another awesome, quick and easy mod. Love it. Keep it coming.

Yes thats correct - so the GME mount sat flush against the dash mount. I think it looks better as well :)

G'day mate, have you come across bracket that mounts to the righthand side vent next to drivers door?
No I haven’t sorry.
Follow out there n back on facebook or insta as there is one in the works. Hopefully have an announcement in 3-4 weeks.
Do you have a photo of this all mounted up? Showing where the handpiece cable is routed . Is the base CB unit under dash?
Hand piece plugs into a rj45 socket in the dash and the UHF base is mounted under the glove box. Hope that helps
What quad lock fitting is that. Can you show a close up? I have the car mount and bike mount quad lock

Could you get the quad lock wireless charger also with the 360 base and lever mount?
