This song - Wow! Amazing lyrics - hit it immediately & my ears perked up! Then when seeing how beautiful she is & that Voice to match perfectly the storyline that I could personally relate to - everything comes together so perfectly! Tamia is amazing & she does have a presence about her that draws you in! I’ve known about her about 10 yrs ago - & came across this song once again today! She’s from Canada & married to a wonderful man, Grant Hill, NBA All-Star! Great athlete w/solid family background & morals! Wonderful couple w/kids - still going strong & they are faithfilled Believers! Oh Yeah / this is a God connection - beautiful couple- so stranger in the house does not apply to her real life husband! Lol! It was singer Anita Baker that set them up for initial date - and they’ve been together ever since! Yeah- I never understood how her name was as much a household name as some other great female voices! She’s got a serious gift! And definitely belongs in that top tier of best & prettiest female singers! Now she certainly has her share of strong fan support & is known by many - maybe she didn’t chase nor lay down ti compromise with the devil 😈! And I 💕 love & appreciate her more for that too! She’s a solid lady, very classy! Stands above those that appear w/less clothes & sell their souls $$$ !
Tamia is very underrated. A little bit of context with the stage. It’s the legendary Apollo theatre. It’s located in Harlem Nyc. It’s been around since the early 1900s. Was a very important staple for African Americans who wanted their talents recognized. They are famous or was famous for Apollo amateur night which would showcase new talent. It was televised a lot in the 80s-90s. They were known for booing you off the stage if you couldn’t sing. Lauryn hill was famously boo’d off the stage at Apollo and several artists start came from that stage. Tamia is severely underrated. She has a nice ballad with Eric Benet called “Spend my life with you.” I think you will like it.
But I’m sure Lauren wasn’t booed once she was famous? I am familar with the Apollo. Kiki Sheppard and all! Buy one thing that might help people to know is the talent contest amateur portion was when people got booed and snatched off stage with a hook. But they also had guest stars and sometimes ameteurs came back when they were stars although I can’t verify who
@@taintedlife2618 yes you’re right. She was booed before she became famous. Yes, they would take them off with a hook, also you would rub the tree trunk for good luck. It was a entertaining show they should bring it back.
Yes! I forgot to mention that duet with Eric Benet. Perfect wedding song, two amazing voices worth exploring. I think I may have also forgotten to mention Slow Jams.
Check out her debut song, produced by Quincy Jones:You put a move on my heart.Tamia is one of the most underrated R&B singers. She has a great vocal range.
Yup this is that’s the one I’m familiar with. It’s Nobody’s Sposed to Be Here all over again. This song I didn’t even here out dancing so much as seeing a particular drag queen perform this in Los Angeles repeatedly and ferociously. The remix is so much more threatening and compelling no shade to Tamia as she killed it either way. Never saw this live version.
Shes my favorite singer of all time her music is so good she sing like no other to me. Listen to her sing this at the Alma awards. Trust me shes NO one hit wonder
Tamia is a beautiful soul straight out of the 90s. She's married to basketball legend Grant Hill. She has great many hits "You Put A Move on my Heart" is one of my favorites ❤❤ I think it's awesome your experiencing more R&B ❤❤
I love Tamia. She kinda debuted late in the 90s, so she was overlooked by established R&B acts. Very underrated. Nonetheless, her discography is amazing.
Tamia songs - I'm so into you - Officially Missing You - You Put A Move on my Heart - Spend My Life With You (w/ Eric Benet) - Missing You (also featuring Brandy, Chaka Khan, and Gladys Knight) - Can't Get Enough (has a super famous line dance that goes with it lol)

Another fun fact : Shep crawford again …..BUT he wrote this for Toni Braxton ….he didn’t know why it didn’t get picked up by TB……but like previously when fate takes hold he has said on the climax of the song the note she hits he remembers throwing stuff at the studio window going “ you better sing girl “ ….in pure excitement of her take on the climax he asked her to do it several time more …even. though he knew he was using the first take ……He had just watched “six sense “ at the cinema and there is some inspiration of a different angle of only one person seeing what was wrong in a relationship like the little boy was the only who could see dead people
Talk about professional, studio quality vocal performance here. The way she slides up to the note at 5:18-5:20 instead of hitting it "straight on" was such a smart choice for this song. Really adds to the emotional element of the song. What a pro.
So late to this reaction, and I’m not sure if someone else mentioned it, but she skips some lyrics in the bridge before the final chorus. After “Pop quiz, tell me where we first kissed,” she continues with “Tell me where my spot is” and then “Tell me if I liked it, loved it…” Not sure if she cut it for dramatic effect or because she was performing on TV, but it’s such a great line!
Tamia was discovered by Quincy Jones. She has an amazing body of work the pinnacle of which was her intro ballad (mentioned below), "You Put a Move on My Heart" which is a tour de force!
@@bridgethegapreactions Looking forward to that! Johnny, don't know if you receive a stream of all comments on your previous videos, but just want to make sure that my recommendation that you react to Whitney's live performance of "Why Does it Hurt So Bad" from the 1996 MTV Movie Awards wasn't missed. In my comment to your reaction to the "Dancin' on the Smooth Edge" video, I intimated that this may be my favorite of Whitney's live performances. Since that time I've rewatched it probably ten times and I can now confirm that, yes, it is my favorite and worth a look! Definitely enjoy seeing your genuine amazement as you discover this fantastic music!
I have reacted to that, but it's on patreon.com/bridgethegapreactions If you join the $3 Whitney tier you'll find it, along with many other full shows, albums and performances by Whitney. You can cancel on there any time, it's just like any other subscription service. I would offer to post it here but I don't think I've got the original file for that reaction any more!
POP 💥QUIZ💥 Tell me where we first kissed!💥 Tell me where my spine is💥 She either flubbed that lyric or wanted the audience to do it 😮 That part hits different in the remix. You need to hear it. It’s one of those songs where the remix was bigger than the actual song.
Wow, I can’t believe you’ve never heard of Tami? My daughters LOVE music from the late 90’s and mid 2000, we had actual lyrics and artists that could sing.
As for the crowd, she’s performing at the Apollo, where the crowds are notorious for being harsh, even for established artists like Tamia. Thats why their reaction is what it is.
If you do "so into you" make sure it's the fabolous version! Also "officially missing you" is a classic. I'm also dyyyying to see your reaction to whitney houston and Deborah Cox "same script different cast" ❤

Beautiful song!😊 Hi Johnny, First I want to say that I am very happy with your RUclips channel! Since I read in your description that you are looking for songs that you missed the first time, and since I saw that you respond to any genre or artist and you tell that the main focuses are also Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey in your list of focal points I have two artists that definitely deserve your attention. First: Wendy Moten She got her first Break at a benefit concert with Michael Bolton. In 1992 she released her self-titled debut album from which two songs entered the British Single Charts "Coming out of the Rain" and so "Close to Love." Because during this period Whitney and Mariah were at the top, Wendy Moten was actually underrated I think. So my question to you if you could pay attention and give your own musical opinion on this fantastic singer! In 2021 she participated in The Voice and made an incredible impression on everyone! The second singer who is also incredible: Rachelle Ferrell In contemporary jazz, she is known for her empathy, control, range, improvised vocal percussion, scatting and access to the flute register. Her live performances are impressive . " With open arms live @ the Apollo" is a must see! I hope you will give these artists a listen and give your opinion on them Keep up the good work and maybe we will see it again on your channel! Kind regards Arjan from the Netherlands
Definitely not a one hit wonder. This song is from her second album. She has at least 5 or 6 albums. Another song that could be a companion to this is Tell Me Who. If I Were You I wouldn’t Be Here is a beautiful song on this album. She was introduced to us by Quincy Jones with You Put A Move on My Heart (maybe my favorite song of all time). This album includes So Into You, which was sampled by rapper Fabolous which was a hit. She does a wonderful cover of Love Me in a Special Way by DeBarge and of Careless Whisper by George Michael. She is married to former NBA star Grant Hill. She was diagnosed with MS some years ago, which may have slowed her down a bit as far as putting out music, but I love one of her recent albums.
Have you reacted to a group called, Heart? There are 2 sisters in the band that do the vocals. Talk about a powerhouse, wow! You should really do a reaction to this group. And I would start with their song called, Alone. The vocals and the harmonies are … just amazing.
Sue also did a great remake of Love me in A Special way off that album that’s really good. She’s def not a one hit wonder. She was discovered by Quincy Jones mid 90’s and she’s Canadian
