I've added a Brandy playlist to the Playlists tab on the BTG channel page on RUclips. 7 reactions on there so far! The Boy Is Mine, I Wanna Be Down, Angel In Disguise, Rather Be, Beggin And Pleadin (live), Right Here (Departed), Sittin' Up In My Room
She was very young in this song. This song was massive, but Brandy was and is massively successful, particularly the first 10 years of her career. She had numerous #1 albums, TV shows, movies, a barbie doll, she was on the covers of every pop/rb/teen magazine.. Brandy was the equivalent of an R&B Britney Spears or Nsync back then. Never Say Never is several years later and strays from the standard R&B sounds a bit more.
She was also the first black Disney Princess ever portrayed - in Cinderella. Whitney Houston played the Fairy Godmother. Whoopi Goldberg, Bernedette Peters, and several other big celebrities were in that adaptation. She was also in the sequel to I Know What You Did Last Summer - a massively successful horror franchise. She played the main characters best friend and (SPOLIER ALERT) survived till the end! She was the lead role in Moesha which was massively successful and has recently been purchased by Netflix and is successful there even after all these years. Moesha also spawned a spin off show The Parkers that was very successful too. She had done guest appearances and stuff on shows before this also. A few years ago, Brandy got one of the lead roles in a since canceled show on network TV called Queens. I didn't watch it, but it had a huge fan base. Brandy covered a few songs and sang a few original songs of the show... Giving some of her best performances of her career. She also played Roxy Hart in Chicago on Broadway and her performances got rave reviews.
Although the lyrics are typical teen angsty stuff and fitting as she was so young but the contrast is the maturity and wisdom of her voice and breathy background vocals. Technical brilliance.
Now your getting into Brandys beginning she dropped her 1st album1994 one year prior to this hit it landed at #2 on Billboard in 1995. The musical master himself Babyface wrote for and produced the entire Waiting to Exhale album of all female artists. It's no doubt a top 5 of all albums for me. Great reaction ❤❤
I randomly heard, "I Wanna be Down", one day while switching through stations. I can't remember the last time I heard it...probably a few decades ago...but recognized that husky voice. I wish we could back to that time. Everything was much more fun :(
I’d definitely recommend When You Touch Me if you’re after a ballad and a great vocal performance. Artistically, Sweet Nothings is one of the best songs I’ve ever heard! It really shows that Brandy is not just an R&B singer, her voice transcends genres
Yes a classic song yes this song was featured in the movie waiting to exhale and guess what babyface produce that whole album like the boomerang soundtrack this song made it to the billboard 100 in 1996 and yes it made it to to billboard charts i was 9 years old when this song was out and just moved back from fort lauderdale at the time
@@bridgethegapreactions Each of the songs he wrote on the Waiting to Exhale soundtrack was written and tailor made for each artist that performed on it.
Great reaction. Please react to her "Human" album. Her absolute best album behind "Never Say Never" and MAYBE her debut album "Brandy" (Could be a tie). "True love", "The Definition", "Human" my top 3. Or please react to "Tomorrow", "Everything I Do, I Do it for you" (yes...a Brian Adams cover). OH WAIT!!! You'll really love *"One Song, One Voice"* please react to that one!!!! Those are off her "Never Say Never" album. "Truthfully" "Almost Doesn't Count" - you'll really love that one too "Put that on everything" React to basically the whole "Never Say Never" album lol
You should react to waiting to exhale performance at the Grammys, Brandy performs this song, Mary J does Not Gonna Cry, Whitney does Shoop and then Cece Winamp’s comes out and does Count on me with Whitney. It’s amazing
Love your reactions! You’ve got great taste! This song brings me back to the mid 90s, this was a massive hit in the US. Brandy and Babyface were at the top of their game here!
Love your reactions! You’re one of the best! Hands down! Love to hear and see your excitement when you truly enjoy something. The way you break it down! You’re insightful! Just a pleasure to watch! Just had to show my support. ❤
Love your reactions to Brandy and everyone else. You're authentic and not putting up a front. This song to me is one of the best to show off some of the higher parts of her voice. I think the song Bye Bipolar is one that really shows the richness of her lower register. I also think you would like the song Never Let You Go by Faith Evans. Keep up the great "work" and I hope to continue watching your reactions for a long time.
Hey! It's been a while but, I see you've reacted to Lisa Fischer, more Sade and Brandy, Chanté Moore, Anita Baker, etc! I am catching back up with your content and loving the R&B journey you're exploring on your channel. I grew up with real R&B/Soul music and it's my core. It's nice seeing you truly appreciate and enjoy the genre. Big Brandy, Sade and Whitney fan here, as well as others. Rachelle Ferrell is such a unique other worldly vocalist/songwriter/pianist that was "tamed" by her record label because of her eccentricities. She was later troubled, had some mental health/drug issues and is also now in her 60s. Her best work, in my opinion was her Anita Baker inspired Debut Album with extra production from George Duke, David Foster and others. It is definitely polished but contained chaos and really good. (With Open Arms, Waiting, Welcome To My World). More jazz/R&B and Fusion artist. The album version of her performances are better than her live performances, sometimes (Waiting). Also, you have to listen to Chanté Moore's (Love's Taken Over- long album version). Very reminiscent of Sade and the album version of (As If We Never Met). * Also, please check out Brandy - "Acapella"(Something Is Missing) album version. Her layering and unique vocal stacking and arrangements are showcased beautifully. *(Long Distance) video by Brandy. I'm sure you'll love reacting to these, my friend! ❤😁
Great stuff, thank you! Yep, still continuing the RnB journey though I know I'm only scratching the surface. Really appreciate the comment and recommendations, thanks!
I loved this jam when it came out. She had a string of a few hits that were totally massive. On a side note, I think her brother slept with half the music industry lol.
It wasn't as big as the Bodyguard but the Waiting to exhale soundtrack( the movie Whitney was in) was pretty dope. I would be very surprised if this wasn't a Babyface production. Brandy was popular for a number of years.
The video was directed very well too The cinematography it had a lot of cut shots it looked very professional Sometimes these early '90s videos can look a little cheesy but this one looked good.
I think you're right. I thought it might have been a slightly slowed down sample, but i think it might be someone playing the riff in a very similar way

Can it be the 90s again?!
Really
They need to invent a time machine already
This song never gets Old!!!! The Sound/the Voice makes me feel good always 💯💯💯💯
Written and produced by the great Babyface for the Waiting to Exhale soundtrack ❤
This was a huge hit. It peaked at #2. I think it was blocked by One Sweet Day
My favorite song by Brandy is "Have You Ever?". It was a huge hit for her, and I still love that song after many years.
I'll check that one out- the title is familiar but I probably haven't heard it
That whole album, you can't go wrong with. It's one of the greatest albums... It's a masterpiece.
Never Say Never is the album!

I love Brandy yall, don't judge me!! Lol 😂 I have loved Brandy since the 90s and sought out any project she had going on.
Tamia ‘So Into You’ video. Pop RnB perfection and a mind blowing voice
Oh I've been meaning to get back to her!
Brandy is one of the great R&B pioneers of the 90s - so glad you're getting into her, her voice has influenced a generation
Yes Brandy has one of the best voices of our generation. She's your favorite singers favorite singer.
Love me some Brandy! Underrated, such a gorgeous voice and seems like a genuinely lovely person too.
Yep, her stuff always makes me smile!

To me this is Brandy's best song.
My favorite Cinderella version is the Brandy version. She had a recent video with Todrick seeing Cinderella songs with recent vocals. It’s sooo good!
Yea she was a teen with this song……teen love ….this was one of my favorites
It's irresistible!
Recommending have you ever
Brandy aka The Vocal Bible aka B. Rocka when she raps! ❤
Her rap persona is Bran'Nu
Yayyy more Brandy 🥰🥰🥰
Babyface scored the filim as well. They originally asked Quincy Jones but he declined and referred Babyface instead.
Love Brandy❤ the 90s were peak for R&B..
I miss this era so bad
Had my 12s speakers thumping when this song came out in my 1992 jeep Cherokee
What About Us is also a good song.

I was a teen when this came out. Her voice was so sweet and I remember wishing I had that bedroom. This is still my favorite Brandy song.
This song brings back Good times..I still mad at what they did to Whitney
Brandy was fabulous. Glad you're giving her some props.

u HAVE TO WATCH WAITING TO EXHALE ITS AMAZING. THE WHOLE SOUNDTRACK IS LEGENDARY
The best era in RnB
I'm still listening to this song all the time.
One of my favorites by Brandy is Full Moon. It was the title track from one of her 1st albums as an adult. Not a commercial success, but very catchy.
Great reaction. Please react to her "Human" album. Her absolute best album behind "Never Say Never" and MAYBE her debut album "Brandy" (Could be a tie).

Oh! Who's her brother? OK, just looked him up - Ray J. Not heard of him, sorry!
Your reaction videos are authentic. Love them. Keep em coming pls. Can I request 'In The Air' by L.A.B from New Zealand pls 😂😊
You should listen to How I Feel & I Tried from her Afrodisiac album 🔥🔥🔥

This song is so beautiful and soothing and sexy.
Great description! Still listening to this one every day after filming the reaction
Norhing unmatch her voice
Can you do Brandy's album cuts? Like "When You Touch Me" from her album "Full Moon"?
I recommend "Best friend"
I think that the bass guitar in this song is similar but not exactly the same as the Sly And The Family Stone song if I'm not mistaken.
I think you're right. I thought it might have been a slightly slowed down sample, but i think it might be someone playing the riff in a very similar way
1995
This song sampled an old 70s song from Sly-and-the-family-stone
thank-you-falettinme-be-mice-elf again
Can you react to her song Deliver Me with Sir the Baptist and Borderline if you haven't already
TLC creep please
