Been using the Bose L1 Compact for many years, recently got an S1 Pro (and now an S1 Pro+). One thing I've always appreciated with their systems is how effortlessly fantastic they sound. Their line array gives such a consistent and wide sound, they've ruined other loudspeakers for me. With the S1 line, it's ridiculous what they can do with battery power!
Same here! I just can't part with my compact and s1 pros. They just sound so damn good with live sound. I'm trying to get rid of my EV 30m. It doesn't even sound as good as the compact.
Dude, your my new goto guy. You have all the same solutions I am looking for. I absolutely love this speaker/interface/monitor/live stream, device, and use it exclusively when playing out. I have 2 and I added a small subwoofer. The sub makes a great difference, but is electric. Great sound! Totally agree on the 2.4 freq. I think I saw a video once where you showed other wireless dongles and said to bring 2.4 and buy another freq. just in case you have conflicts. I do have conflicts occasionally, but stuck with 2.4 ob S1 for now maybe they will create an alternate freq. The app is quirky to me. It will disconnect, randomly. Im a sitting soloist, so I keep the main speaker close, incase I need to make adjustments. I know you are good at setting these things up. I am using a Tc Helicon Play Acoustic, wired. Works awesome and great acoustic tone with vocal harmonies. Problem is I cant even imagine how to use this through the effects loop of the S1 Pro+ or if it can even be done. Have you ever used one? Or heard of it?
Thanks! And I haven’t used the fx loop actually so I’m not sure. I usually go just direct either as an extra speaker or just for acoustic guitar personally
This is great Scott. (Great Scott!) I've been thinking about one of these but music stores aren't stocking them so you order blindly. Then if you don't want it there's the restocking fee so you've helped me quite a bit with this review. Thanks!
I connect just one of my S1 p+ into SUB1 from bose ! Set it in center of stage (for playing recorded music in venue) it rocks!!! Sounds great! 120 degree Dispersion! (Could be set up in stereo but mono sounds pretty damned good!) Venue is a bar around 70ftx50ft way more volume than necessary! Later, i do karaoke 🎤 with wireless mics . I haven't purchased the bose transmitters yet but will shortly. I'll update comment when I get them.
I’ve got the S1 pro (not wireless). It sounds much better than my huge 300 watt yorkville keyboard amp. I can use it as a floor wedge but it really shines when mounted on a stand. Stage sound with my band is so much better. It also sounds great for small solo keyboard and vocals gigs. The new tone match and wireless are tempting but I’ll stick with what I’ve got for now.
What they have not thought of from the first version onward is the need to mute the effects between songs for talking to the audience. To me its a must have. (I have the first version from Bose)
This is cool, I've been doing beach performances with a pair of JBL-PB-310, built in power means I can take more gigs more places. Camp grounds, beaches, parks, all without the need for a loud noisy generator. This looks like it would have been a nice way to go instead.
I have 2 s1 pros, and they are absolutely perfect for live sound. But I'm itching for a pair of JBL partybox speakers. I did a reception with my Bose, and another guy brought a PB 310. After hearing "Push it" come out if that thing, I'm dying for this speaker for streaming music to add to my gigs.
And bose quality , very nice , with alot of great options every since I started using my yamaha THR 30 practice amp ive learned how awwsome battery power can be and handy , hope alls well Scott great product video
Thanks! And yeah I’m a big fan of what Bose does. I just played a fill in show with another band this weekend and they had these killer Bose speakers and subs. Sounded so good!
So you did a real view on the Eavers battery operated PA. At this point would you consider switching to Bose or do you see some advantages with the universe?
Whenever someone asks me "is this better than ____" I always just suggest to watch both videos and see which one has features that makes you go "oh I want that!" over the other one. That's the best way to do it. Both are really great systems, and both have slightly different features.
Yeah - my question was a Time Machine type question. If you could go back in time would you pick the Bose knowing what you know now… Another question - if you were using a looper like the Boss RC 600 would you take the outputs from the looper into either or both of the combo-jacks or into the aux with a reverse Y cable? Thanks.
Great review! This kind of equipment has advanced so much in recent years, the designs are really well thought out, it's almost like they consulted working musicians ;-) and your reviews really help guys like me decide which new equipment to invest in.
@@ScottUhlMusic I have it and it absolutely blasts for a solo musician with guitar and vocals. If you can get a hand on it, try it, I really like your in-depth reviews and test in the field.

Thanks! Are you talking about the wireless vs the cable? That could have some gain changes that happen, so you’ll just have to set the gain properly depending on which input you use 🤘
Hey Scott, kudos on a great channel! Really nice review .. Can you tell me if this unit works well for a solo musician with backing tracks? i.e. guitar, vocal and backing tracks? Thanks!
Great review. Question: can I use the XLR output from the PRO+ to go to a cable with an 3.5 mm input to go in my older S1 Pro? So that I have a speaker for both sides of the room. I hope that the app can connect both so that it works wireless
@@ScottUhlMusic The Bose is indeed brilliant - and I say that as a still-owner of the original model (sans wireless). If you‘re into wireless, though (and of course I know from your channel how invested you are in wireless), you might really want to check out the novel approach taken by Kombo Audio out of Denmark. The speaker costs a bit more, but has many more features…and especially a modular approach to inputting whatever kind of channel you want, complete with well-curated effects (e.g. for electric guitar, vocals, base). It‘s something the industry has never seen before, and it looks very promising. But please feel free to delete my remarks if you want to keep the comment section devoted only to the Bose actually featured. I‘m still on the fence about which wireless speaker to get, and that will probably hinge on a sound check with the Kombo Audio, who offer free returns (even to Denmark).
Low end sounds great, but if you want like subwoofer level low end, you have to get a sub. This is a 8” speaker… the bass is great for the size of speaker, just know what sound you want and buy accordingly

I’m not sure what “round trip” you are talking about since the wireless goes directly into the speaker. But the latency is not noticeable at all. And I don’t use windows so that I don’t know.
