- We had the Bose S1 with us on the island, but now Bose improved on an already great system and left VERY little to be desired.

I purchased one n the mic transmitter. I never had a Bose before n this thing is amazing. It’s LOUD N CLEAR!!! I like to sing n I’ve been using this system n I perform in public n this is just beautiful. It’s easy to Carry n transmitter is perfect. I love this system so much!! I just ordered a backpack case on eBay. This is such a great video n you are amazing!!!!
That was a fantastic performance...wonderful voice and guitar work..!!... 🎸😄 🎸
Yeah, I bought one about 6 months ago. I also got the wireless transmitters. It’s been a phenomenal device. At some point I’ll get another and a Sub2.
Later and for the band I’ll get a Pro 32 and use the S1 Pro+’s as floor monitors.
Where have you used it? Busking? On a stage or in a club? How large could the venue be? Thanks.
Man, i used to be a repair tech for Bose and I wished they would do more for pro musicians like me. That thing is really cool. Thanks for the video!
Totally agree with you about the system. Only Thing, and there is always one thing, a master volume would be the cherry on the cake. I use it with two vocal mics in channel one and two. And a acoustic guitar through a venue di with a reverb pedal(both could be batterypowered too) in channel 3. Great and it works. 😅
I’ve worked with Bose as an artist and they’re serious about their engineering. Was told they have speakers they’ve been studying the effects of degradation for many, many years - wild. I liked the original S1 Pro, but the Pro+ is such an upgrade and at the same price of the original. With so many companies still trying to gouge us with increased prices, that was another plus (pun intended). I used the new Pro+ w/ the wireless modules recently and had so much positive feedback from the audience. Considering picking up a second one as an alternative to my L1 Pro8 when I don’t need that much power.
I have the first version and it is pretty much perfect. I use them for Bass mostly. It is awesome!
You play bass guitar through the bose? Electric bass?
Was curious about the battery so looked it up: its a self contained pack under the two screws on the bottom. Extra battery packs are sold for $150.
Okay, could we talk about the person who played the song for the Bose demo for a second? He did excellent job!
Rafael Cano, his channel is "Let's talk song"
I just ordered one of these to replace my Fishman Loudbox mini charge. The Fishman just isn't reliable, I keep having to send it back to them in the summer, when I should be busking in the subway.
May be showing my age, I remember people using the 901 for PA system and it rocked.
901's were bad ass. Had them in the military. BLOWPROOF
I still to this date bring out the pair of 901s and use them with the Marantz 2275 amp and use this for outdoor pool parties. They just Rock
they were bad ass
Product of the year! Hope you’re well man.
this is a phenomenal review - thanks so much. I was deciding which PA speaker to get and you have completely sold me ! Sounds perfect for my needs, can't believe it can double up as an audio interface which is so ideal for me , I can livestream my busking performances! so excited to get this now !
wow excellent explanation i love Bose !!
I bought two of these and link them up with an XLR cable for a wedding. The phase I was getting from the sound was horrible. No matter what I tried I couldn’t get rid of the phase.
Figure out the fix?
Great review. Thanks. So would you prefer 2 of these for using with a Line 6 Helix Rack/ HX Stomp and audio interface or Studio Monitors? I have Yamaha HS5 and KRK Rokit G4 in my main recording setup so should I stick with those?
I bought one two days ago and used it for a gig. Wow. This thing is so loud and the sound is amazing. I was able to plug in a guitar and a mic and do the sound from my phone. It made my gig so much easier. Unfortunately today there was a software malfunction and it was frozen on and non-responsive. I tried to hard reset it and nothing. I then went through this thread and saw someone say the battery is self contained on the bottom. Removed the two screws and the plate, popped the battery out then back in and it's working again! No need to do a replacement as i'm now in the middle of a firmware update!
WOW, GREAT PLAYER AND VOCALS ARE EPIC. NICE
I bought 2 of these to play a gig at a off the grid location. Brought them home and just couldn't get a good sound out of them. for streaming music they're ok but for guitar they were way to tinny sounding, I tried everything but no luck. I have two Bose L1's and these didn't come close so I returned them and bought a power station to run all my equipment, (off the grid I take one amp, one Bose L1, a voice live extreme and an small multi effects pedal for my electric amp). The power staion worked great and was much cheaper than the 2 S1's. Plus I didn't want to buy the wireless transmitter to chain the S1's together as mentioned in this video and that's the only way to get guitar and vocals to play in stereo. Yes, you can pair them with bluetooth but then only the bluetooth source will play in stereo, not your mic or guiter. IMHO, wireless should be included as stated in thei video.
That man can perform HP.
Is the music quality and loudness and the microphone loudness better on the Pro+ then the prior model?
Those Hedgehogs are sooo adorable.
Doze the reverb work has no delay no mids so u still need to plug a mixer in
Great job!
I remember seeing a system they made in the 80’s that were almost a quarter of the size of the one you have. The sound blew me away.
Absolutely fantastic review, we just bought 2x from this, thank you
That thing is badassery to the next level!!!!
I bought one, then realized I needed another to produce stereo sound and wider audience coverage. Then it made me think there are cheaper, better systems out there.
You mention line level on the xlr dongle. Can u explain that concept, and for what i may use it for? I play guitar, sing, using dongles, and use backing tracks via ipad (bluetooth). Im trying to figure out how to record individual tracks, so i have better control of my sound, but looks like i have to mix, on the s1pro+, then use the live stream feature, to record audio tracks to my video. Most times have to record audio, and sync video afterward. I really want to use for youtube videos, with music synched. But quality sound, not the room ambience. Any suggestions?
Love Rafa’s voice 🤘🏽
How it works with a Kemper, Fractal or Quad Cortex, excellent video
these things kick ass
It sounds really good, I admit, but I think the JBL Party Box sounds even better.
It works particularly well with modeling.
I can't see myself switching to anything other than the JBL Party Box for now.
I even tried the Audio Case S10, which is supposed to be amazing, but I found it to be inferior in terms of bass compared to the JBL
@@alexdenton6586 I too have a Partybox, the 310, and it’s enough for smaller gigs. What I miss though is an AUX to connect my in ears. Its also not really a lightweight like the S1 pro plus. The Bose really seems to be a good alternative.
Thanks for the great Video. There is a lot of processing, AD, DA conversion - do you know, how many ms latency the box has?
04:26 can you angle the wireless transmitter while it's on the instrument? Seems a little weird and unpractical sticking out like that.
Yes, you can. (answering my own question) :)
Thanks
great review!
If I was to use 2 of these linked using output (say for a larger venue) wow would I use may analogue Vocalist Live 3 with it? I play guitar and sing?
No delay reverb sounds cheep and no mids.
Thank you so much sir! For info
The best S1 Pro+ review ever.
Is this better than the Everse 8?
I asked myself the same question. Anyway, the Everse doesn’t have those wireless mic adapters.
No Everse is louder and has a FAR superior App!
@@WWeiss-nv5vz I ended up purchasing and returning the everse 8. Dispersion was not the best. Will try the Bose now.
Bose Spec at 120 degrees is better.
@@WWeiss-nv5vz I have played around with the Bose for a few hours now. The EQ is much better tailored for a singer and acoustic guitarist. As expected, the sweet spot is much wider on the Bose too. With that said, the build quality feels like a consumer product, whereas the Everse 8 felt like actual professional equipment. Soundwise, the Bose sounds more natural on my voice, but the speakers definitely sound less robust/thinner. One thing I really like with the Bose is the built in reverb. Works great! The Everse 8’s effects are terrible IMO. With the Bose, I don’t need additional effects which is a huge thing for the fast setup.
I own two EV Evolve 30Ms I use in stereo, and obviously I can’t expect the sound quality to be on the same planet. For $700 (without a bag or transmitters), the Bose is a hard product to justify since it is clearly a cheaply made product. Although more usable for me than the Everse 8, I am still struggling with the purchase.
Curious how it would sound with a Dream 65 and an electric guitar? Or any Helix or whatever
I would really like to see somebody using it to entertain a crowd! What size audience would this unit cover?
Bose rates it at 50 people.
Gibts ne Möglichkeit da einen Kopfhörer anzuschließen und die Box damit zu muten ?
Who is the singer? Is that an original? I am curious to compare this to the cube street EX. The first Bose s1 didn't perform well against it but I'm curious about this new one.
Rafael Cano, yes it is an original. Check out his channel „Let‘s talk song“
Thank you but I wish you'd have shouted him out in the video and description. The video is done but you can still add his links in the description and pinned comment. @@EytschPi42
I can't find his channel. When I search him, only your page comes up. Please add his channel in the description and as a pinned comment! Hell, a card would be ideal. I was so shocked to see ZERO attribution anywhere. @@EytschPi42
Would be interesting stuff for me if I didn’t have a pair of mackie srm212 vclass that I’ve always used with camping battery outside.
Would one of these be good for an outdoors party? I know it’s great for musicians but I wonder about the effectiveness of its power
Yes, it's actually a PA system tuned for music
no headphones however, sounds great thru my bose radio.
Whats the range on the xlr wireless transmitter. will it cover 100ft or more? or less? Thank you in advance.
you should check out the LD Maui 28 g 3, i've been giging with this thing and holy shit
I have seen this couple month ago. Seems like really useful gear but all these wireless units are very expensive.
Is this good for Irx crunch?
Great review - nice speaker...but way too much electronic stuff to fail. When I get to a gig I want to set up and play without wading through endless menus. I've gone back to a pair of bi-amped 10's and a small mixer and could not be happier.😊
Man how he sang!!
its missing a record function with sd card and a looper
Howdy! I have a question for you sir. Could I use this as a replacement for headrush monitor for my electric guitar on stage at gigs? Would it be loud enough to cut through all the stage volume?
It’s a bit muddy for that, I tried.
A different preset might help, but so would try it first and send back if it doesn’t work.
Yes sir thank ya!
@@EytschPi42I’m debating what I should get. I want the best portability possible but I want plenty of quality sound. What would you pick? Bose s1 pro plus, gen 2 headrush 8 inch, or gen 2 headrush 12 inch. I have a pedalboard with mostly analog pedals and a boss ir200 pedal. I play in a country band.
Does this have stereo separation or is it mono like most portable speakers?
Mono
@@EytschPi42 what does having 2 channels mean then?
Would you recomend the small one (S1 Pro) as a wedge for Electric Guitar?
Sure… should work great
Because I am a little bit conflicted between the bose and the dB Technologies FMX12.
The bose is extremly versatile and Compact but doesnt have that much power.
And the dB is a classic wedge which i think you can also use as a normal pa speaker for Playback or something Like That.
Is there any difference between s1pro and +
Can I plug a 3.5mm received into this so I can use a lapel mic to use it as a loudspeaker?
*receiver*
Hello! How much is the sound pressure SPL?
Yes
106dB
Is there enough range, especially low end, for a stage keyboard (Yamaha YC 73) playing as a solo gig and as part of a band? thanks
I think so
Just bought mine yesterday, battery problem, it doesn't work if its not plugged in, total waste of money 😭😭😭
If the battery really doesn’t work you can get it replaced… you JUST bought it
Good song man!
Thanks for the video, this is really useful!!! The features, the wireless, the battery, everything: sounds great. One thing: The acoustic guitar sounds really fizzy at the same time the singer sounds great. Is there a way to fix that? I understand it's piezo, but would be nice to have a rig that somehow fixes that? Based on the recording the whole charm of playing an acoustic guitar (the sound) is gone.
What I mean is that this is what I hear this type of sound a lot on the streets, from buskers, and when I hear this sound quality, I walk away. It sounds ugly. Would be nice if some company could come up with a solution for that.
look into the Fishman Aura, that fixes it
@@EytschPi42 thanks for the tip!
Depends what Tonematch presets have used
I'm getting a killer acoustic guitar sound from Plus - with an Baggs Element
Small Question. Whilst your ear simulator is amazing tech & for anybody with normal stereo hearing I can understand the use of headphones
But I have been deaf since birth in one ear & have limited range in the other.
How would headphones help me?
Perhaps I should ask this via Patreon?
They would give you a realistic room at least for the one ear, but obviously it wouldn’t give you the stereo experience.
i play an axe fx through adam ax7 monitors
would these bose give me more an amp in the room sound than my monitors or much the same ?
thank you
They would sound a bit too muddy… stick with your studio monitors. Modelers through powered speakers will never sound like an amp in a room.
@@EytschPi42 thank you very much from new zealand
My 2nd one JUST GOT HERE!😮😢😮❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Wow, computer audio can’t be directed through the speaker? Sounds like a miss.
Does the wireless transmitter work with the original S1 🤔🤔🤔
No
Lol...great video...✌️❤️🎨🙏
This is my 4th performance with this Bose system. And I've gotten everything dialed in just right. I got the control app on my phone working, I can play my backing tracks with the same phone I use to control the amp. Once I got the levels just right I saved them as a scene labeled "C Circle". By the way that's a Harley Benton dobro I'm playing. ruclips.net/video/j5l4h-LNb_Y/видео.html
Bose… TAKE MY MONEY!
yeah but is it good for band practice in a hall with live band ?
Is that song on Spotify?
No
42GI LIVESAFER...even more necessary than life vests...except for jake
Great but too expensive. I will stay with my Alto busker 😁
Make a short clip of the dude jamming out with the bose s1 plus
No body demo the vocals with reverb no one on RUclips why is that
There was reverb
Just because Bose gets a Chinese CM to make some of their drivers (the rest are literally made in house in the USA Ive been in the room recently) doesn't mean its the bottom of the barrel stuff they make. You can spec out any kind of speaker youd like and they'll make it. Speakers dont care which hemisphere theyre assembled in. Guess where US and EU made drivers get their materials from???
I had the original which was okay but just okay. Sold it.
schickes teil!!!
Rafa's performance shoes are 80% of the sound. Prove me wrong!
TRUE
Clogs und Rafael was wolle mer mehr?
The wirless gos flat in 4 hours be lucky to finnsh a gig .they make the pa for 11 hours .why would they do that. U can buy separate wirless sytem for 400 that last also 11 hours
I buy 2 s1pro plus with the sub. & not loud enough to cover 100 people. Made in china and the cheapest speakers u can buy in china
Played with S1 pro today with a tenor saxophone and tracks at an event. It sucked..it cant handle saxophone ...period...the colours are off.
There are many presets through the app, you might need a different preset for sax
Three weeks ago, Bernd tested another great system developed by KOMBO AUDIO in Denmark. I guess you know. :)
I know… review is coming
@@EytschPi42 I‘m looking forward for it. 👍
Too pricey. But that's BOSE for ya. :)
Your brother's "opinion " was contradictory. BOSE Engineers their own drivers... and the chassis are never built cheaply.... Bose make indestructible chassis or i wouldn't sitting here with 901s from 1968 that still blows anything out of the water. Handmade speaker still bang in 2023.. Your brother's issue is that Bose is quite Avant-garde and clandestine win it comes to what they do. They don't follow trends. Bose sets the trend. The drivers are using cloth surrounds (just like my 901s... they last a lifetime. The harpsichord surrounding also allows for twice the excursion in the sub....That's not cheap! That's Science and Development... They made this speaker to use like everything else they make. I still have functioning wave radios from the 90s. All 6 still sound superb. Same asy Acoustic Waves... I have obscure Bose Tech....like the Virtual Imaging Array or VIA... I call them my Dragon's Eggs..
Expert review! I just purchased 2 s1 pro pluses and I and my fiance are Blown AWAY by these .... I can't turn them off. We keep listening and find ourselves making direct eye contact in AWE of them. Putting them on stands activates a sensor in the bottom that boosts them. You can hear them a full block away without being at full. I think Bose sold these for less than they're worth. These are easily $1,000.⁰⁰ performance systems. There's isn't a reason on Earth not to have one and or two.(I can't wait to buy 2 more for 4 , as well.... I was going to sell when it's time to upgrade... Oh HELL NO! I will only contribute to their presence...
All highs, no lows, must be Bose
We said that sooo much when i used to build electrostatic panels 😂
there are tons of lows, but hey are hard to capture with the binaural mic
It’s not for Doof Doof music but there is more than enough bottom end. And if you really want to use it for DJ’ing add a sub2 or get a system that is geared to Doof Doof and DJ. But if you want a good live music system the all the Bose systems are great.
They have more bottom end than other similar systems in my experience. That’s why I bought two 😊😂
Been doing wireless to the legacy S1pro for years with Xvives and even better, we can use them for ANY speaker/mic and not just tethered to only being compatible to the Bose. Waaay more expansion for less. Also although I have both, if you already have the legacy, there’s no reason to “upgrade” because it’s the exact same amps etc but if you don’t feel free to get this one. I bought a slew of pairs of the original ones for the price of one Pro+ from guys that jumped on the bandwagon and are hating on me now lol. We have clients that don’t want to learn anything when we deliver them systems…and I guess have no time to scroll through menus etc and prefer the speed of physical knobs and basically to “turn it on and get to work” lol. Can’t go wrong with either but sound wise there is zero difference 🤷🏽♂️
Bose have great sound quality but for me are so overpriced
Bose is well known for being the fakiest speakers on earth, LOL. Especially on audio speakers ;)
For almost a thousand bucks.. No thanks. Nice review though
You get a lot for that price and in all reality to get the same functionality into a cheaper system, you’d end up paying close to the same amount of money
1000 is way over priced. I bought the L1 Pro 8 for 1200 and have nothing but regrets.
@@jimtalltheislandbrothers6639I’d never buy a Pro8. If your going small and modular then the S1 Pro+ and then if you want to go bigger either a Pro16 and if a band a Pro32 and use the S1 as a monitor
Sorry if I missed it but how big of a bar gig can you play with this, if at all? Solo. Acoustic.
@@mkrj2576 I’ve seen them used singularly it some large pubs. But again that’s not the point of them. But they form a modular system that done right can scale to work in very large venues full of people.
S1 pro👍. S1Pro + 👎
The use of binaural recording is awesome, but the drone noise absolutely ruined it.
I don't understand either. No one uses a drone while you do audio recording. You can fly to a playback of the recording and match it after in the post.
Animals at the End.
