I’m bustling my daughter’s wedding gown down in Australia! Thank you so much for all of the tips you have given me! The invisible bustle is the one for us!!
Thank you for instructions to bustling. I do alterations as well but I need a suggestion on how to a bustle a dress. It has: 1. A tulle lined lace top. 2. 3 layers of tulle. 3. A lining. 4. A semi full crinoline petticoat with a lace edging that is attached to the rest of the dress at the side and back seam about 12” from the bottom hem. 5. A gathered 2 layer crinoline petticoat. 6. Another lining. I have bustled the top three items but I’m stumped on how to bustle item #4. I tried bustling along with the items above but item seems and feels like too much fabric because of the fullness of the crinoline. What would you suggest? Can a petticoat be bustled on its own even if its attached at the back seam? For items 5 and 6 I may cut to floor length. They don’t even show underneath the dress. Thanks, Becky
Hi Becky, A petticoat is usually hemmed to floor length so the other layers can be bustled separately! Don't be affraid to bustle 1 - 3 separately if they don't lay well together all in one. Layer 4 + 5 can be hemmed. 6 will be bustled separately or hemmed. Thanks for watching! Sue Scheele

What is the best bustle for a solid satin train with no skirt embellishments and no lining. A-line skirt. Minimal tulle underskirt. Nothing to “hide” an American bustle and French bustle “pulls” at the tie points.
Hi Shari, For the American bustle: I use a soft bustle thread which gives a flawless finish on the American bustle! I sew a button under the loop so the loops are invisible & works really well for your concern. For the French bustle, there are a few ways you can go about the stitch issue but I would need to see the dress and show you what I do in a video. If you would like to work with me, I offer remote visits. For $59, I will ask detailed questions, look at photos of the dress & make a video for you to use as a communication tool with your seamstress. I will save you sooooo much time trying to figure this out, what materials I use and teach you step by step in the video. May I send you the link to get started? Looking forward to working with you! Xoxo, Sue Scheele
@@AvasBridalCouture Yes please. I ended up creating a French bustle and the bride was okay with the tiny stitches on the outside. Unembellished tulle is another challenge, but again, most brides, I have found, don’t mind the tiny eye on the skirt to attached to the hook at the waist. If people do see the eyes, they’ll usually know what it’s for. I typically do an American bustle on tulle skirts.
Definitely pro button and loops! (with another button under the loop for convenience and strength 💪) Not a fan of hook and eyes for several reasons in this reel Krysia: instagram.com/reel/CZgFqkIBBMy/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y= When is your wedding? Xoxo, Sue
I do alterations and have a bridal gown with satin under skirt and tulle and top layer sheer fabric with lace around edges with horse hair?? Having a problem bussels hangers show as unbusseled
I am working on a friend's wedding dress. It has three layers of tulle over the top of the silk fabric. I have done other dress bustles. But not with tulle over the top. We want to put a bustle on it but no clue how . 😬
Hi Marion, Try seperating the layers based on their circumference, fabric width or how they lay! You can sew a clear snap where the tacks were sewn by the manufacturer if it's difficult to fluff the train once you removed the tacks. If you would like to work with me remotely, I will take a look on Zoom and help with your project. Send me a DM @Avasbridalcouture on IG ot FB to get more information, no pressure. Hi! I was wondering if you could suggest what type of bustle would look best on a Martina Liana mermaid gown style 1182? Thank you.
I’m getting married 8.27.21 and I’m getting the American bustle done to my dress. I do have a Stella York dress as well!
You are a beautiful bride!
Hope all the planning + alterations go smooth!

What is an average cost of a bustle
I'ld love to see a bustle on a dress where the sweep on the lace is not the same as the sweep on the lining.
I am looking for a dress
The (a-line bustle) is what I need. For dress I am working on. For a friend. But we are in Michigan
Are you on Instagram, Marion?

@@AvasBridalCouture thank you so much for your advice.
I did just that. I cut the crinoline layers to the floor and bustled layers 1-4.
Wonderful!
Which do you recommend for tulle

Does the button go on the skirt or on the him for an in visible bustle and is it sewn only to the lining or does it go through the skirt?
Kim, the invisible bustle is all hidden under the train lining side (nothing sewn on top layers of the skirt!)

Bustle the satin lining French with the tulle top layer as American.
That should resolve the issue!

I also do alterations on wedding gowns and learning to master the bustles. Always looking for a better way but some are really difficult
