Just finished a Squash Van. I put the silver dog bones in the rear with o-rings in all 4 cups and black dog bones in front with o- rings in the gearbox drive cups. Shock spacers I used the large ones in the rear and the smaller ones in the front and it sits level.
I can't even remember now how mine ended up. I know I fought with the dog bones in it. I need to get it back out and run it around some more. It was just one I was not super thrilled with in the end and I felt like it under performed so I have not been very interested in taking it back out and working on it. I will put it on the the to-do list though! I am glad you got yours all sorted and hope you have fun with it! Take care Peter!
I agree with you there! I like the look of it, the name is too corny for me but I know where they were going. They just should have tried a little harder to get there! LOL! I would do the box art paint job but I have an idea in my head I need to make a reality! I am hoping it turns out like it is in my head!
Yeah, just some head scratching moment in doing it. Other than the axles it was a really nice build and I gonna get the body done next week when I am off of work for a bit. Merry Christmas to you and your family as well!!!
The last couple of Tamiya kits I've put together, I 've had spacing issues with the dog bones myself. Didn't seem to be like that years ago. The van is really cool. I've built one of those chassies before. I do like them. Can't wait to see what you come up with on the body.
Yeah it seems like they have 3 or 4 lengths of dog bones and they all seem to not be quite the right size for the application! LOL! It seems to be good and working fine now, I will triple check it again as it has been a week since I looked at it last. I may find I messed up something but if not then I think it is good to go like it is. I am going to work on the paint next week and I hope I can get the idea in my head onto it well! If it can it should look really cool!
One of the oddest things I have ever seen catch on. Some of those guys have spent a ton of money to ruin a truck! LOL! I can be having none of that here!
Man what a nightmare that's frustrating they probably tried to push this one out the door for Christmas but frustrating things like this deter more people from buying the kit long term not the best business move from tamiya just hurts there loyal kit builders hope you get all that sorted ... on the bright side can't waite to see what you do with the body have a great Christmas with the family Addam hope it's amazing all round 👊
It happens sometimes, I got a good tip from someone else yesterday that I have to investigate. I may have used the wrong suspension arm set entirely in the rear. I am fairly sure I messed something up, I just have not seen what that thing is yet. It is not the first time I have had to hunt down where I missed something or messed something up in a build. I am looking forward to getting to work on the body and if I can get what is in my head on the truck then it will look pretty cool! Wishing you and your your family a very Merry Christmas as well Mark!
If you add all the kits you've built v mistakes you've made your success rate is pretty high mate my grandfather used to say a man that's never made a mistake has never made anything .... I'd your still way in front 💪
I think dog bone fit is the last thing Tamiya thinks about. I remember my brother hating his Frog back in the day....just could not keep the axles in the car! My Grasshopper never had that issue! LOL!
Yeah it is like they only have a couple thy have on hand and just use those instead of getting the perfect fit like everyone else does. Not like they don't make them in every length possible these days! I do have to triple check to make sure I did not miss anything but it is still frustrating. It should not be that hard!
Yeah all the additional bits and hardware had me second guessing things. Those rear axles still puzzle me, I triple checked the arms and they are the correct ones but the black axles are too long and the silver ones are too short but I made them work. I need to get the painting down so i can get it out for drive!
Yeah I sent the body to RC Car Stars to get it painted. First time I ever sent a body out but I really hate painting. Also the weather in NY is really all over the place right now so I don't really have a place to paint it outside. The rear dogbones I went with were the silver ones. Hopefully it all works out. Going to do a bodyless run this week.
@@brendanmcg4358 Our weather has been all over the place here in VA as well. Sadly the good stretch of weather we had was when I was entirely too busy getting things done before Christmas to be able to spend any time with RC at all! I am trying to this week but it rained today and the same tomorrow so who knows!
I am crossing my fingers the paint job turns out well! It is going to have a few colors and layers to it! next week when I actually have some time I will get it knocked out!
Looks good all those gears!! Yeah the silver ones are probably for the wild willy type chassis along with all the extra plastic spare parts too, Merry Christmas!
I am kind of digging all the gears, definitely seems bomb-proof! It almost seems like you get all the parts for the 6x6 build in this kit, it is a ton of extra bits. I have to double check the instructions and the build to make sure I did not put something in the wrong place but it is working fine as is. Merry Christmas to you and you family Steve!
Lots of Tamiya weirdness with this one!🧐 A lot of extras with the King Yellow as well, and a couple steps I had to go back to in order to fix an oversight on my side. Good to hear your thoughts on this one Addam; I’m on the fence whether or not to snag one. 👍😊
Yes, some stuff I just didn't get. It seems like thy give you everything you need for the 6X6 other than the 3rd diff and the chassis in this one. The rear axles really messed me up and I am still not sure what to do with it. I will be working on the body next week so I still have time to look it over again and see if I did miss something or should change something. I hope the body turns out as good as it looks in my head!
Hey Addam!😁. It's a great video mate!, even if it's unplanned and winging it was still really interesting👌. I like what you were saying about the grease causing unnecessary drag, that really makes sense. Man that bodies got us thinking, we're looking forward to seeing what you come up with and we know it's going to be a beauty. Thanks for sharing your interesting Squash Van video, funny intro too Addam👌😂. We feel your pain with the washing and just before Christmas of all times😡. We hope you managed to get it fixed mate. Thanks again for your really interesting video mate, We enjoyed it🙋♀️🤠🦘🇦🇺.
Pretty much everything I do is somewhat unplanned and I am just winging it! So I am glad it works out! LOL! I was surprised to feel the drag put on the gears once the grease went on. Most of the excess will fling off once running but if you overdid it then you could really hurt the performance of the truck a lot! Uggg the washing machine turned into a real hassle... It tore the front gasket (front load washer) and I decided to do the repairs myself. Spent $160 on the parts and shipping and did the repairs, that part was fine. Turns out there is something else wrong with it and it quickly tore the new gasket. no we were a week before Christmas and needed to do laundry and was not going to pay for a repair company to figure out what was wrong, order the parts and then not be able to repair it until after the holidays so off to buy new one and replace it and cut my loses... way more money than I wanted to spend and time spent repairing, running around and installing things gone. I am glad it is done and the prep work for the holidays are all done and I can relax! It happens but this is the 3rd appliances in 6 months that has failed, thankfully there are only a couple left so it can't get but so bad! LOL! Anyways, take care guys an have a very Merry Christmas!!!!
For me with a Tamiya unless it's a shelf queen which I don't have any then they need bearings. Also a few mods is a must but not too much we still need breaking points on any car, buggy or truck.
Yeah, even for a shelf queen I have a really hard time using bushing for anything! When I build the retro Lunch Box intending it to be a re-re version of the old school one I even put bearings in that knowing it was only going to drive it the one time! I have seen too much wear and damage caused by them over the years so I avoid it as much as possible.
@@kanenstuff Yeah I buy mine in bulk and get a decent discount on them and that is for a 100 or so, I am sure they could buy them for pennies on the dollar ordering in the quantities they would!
Damn washing machines. lol Not only that but after this great build I would ALSO be annoyed with the fact that the dog bones was giving me grief. Looks like a nice rig though I do like the Box art. I know what ever you decide with it, it will look good. Have a great day bud. Good luck with the Washer. :)
Yeah the masher was a whole series of disappointments but it has been replaced with a new one! one all the holiday stuff is done I will have some time to devote to the body and getting it done. I was a huge fan of the box art, the colors are fine I was just not thrilled about the decals. The name does not help it for me at all either. I get the concept but just surprised that was the best they could come up with. I am going with something very different and hope I can pull it off! I will be working on it next week while I am off.
LOL it was all over the place!! Glad you got a giggle out of it! I will be working on the body next week while I am off work for a little bit and I hope I can pull it off well. If I can it should look awesome! Take care and Merry Christmas!
Thank you! If it turns out as good in person as it does in my head it should be pretty cool! I will be working on it next week as I have some time off work so I can enjoy some fun time!
Its cool to look at all the gears i dont know how many times ive watched it being done so far everyone i know has one but they are to cool i hope to join the club after Xmas nice work Addam and merry Christmas
It is a cool and looks to be bullet proof gear train! There is a lot of drag created by all them though but I am sure once the grease gets worked around it will free up some! I will be working on the body next week! I hope you get one, I am sure you will love it! Merry Christmas Brent!
This is an interesting kit. It seems to be overly complicated compared to other 4WD trucks. It was educational to hear the issues you had. Don't let your spirit get squashed by the problems. Sorry, for the terrible sense of humor.
LOL! I got a giggle out of it, I am a purveyor of corny jokes from time to time as well! I am surprised my wife's eyes have not been sprained yet!! I seems complicated looking at all the gears but it is actually kind of simple. It should be pretty tough as well. Time will tell but I have some folks beating on the 6X6 ones pretty hard with no issues so i hoping for the same here. Take care Michael!
Hi Addam and congrats on another great build! I think the extra parts are from the G601 that this is based on, for the extra wheels missing in the middle and the 4WS option. I did have tons left over in my Konghead kit though too! Strange though, I don't remember any issues with the 6 dogbones, I think they are all the same size and colour, why they don't fit properly in this kit is another Tamiya mystery!!! 😅 They are just trying to confuse us! Looking forward to that custom paint job! Happy holidays, dude!
Yeah there is a pile of parts left over and it does seem like it is basically the same kit minus the extra diff and wheels and tires. It is working now so all good. I am going to triple check it once more before running it to 100% make sure I did not goof anything! I am hopeful the body works out, if it looks like it does in my head it should be awesome! Take care Mark and Merry Christmas my friend!
Great video mate 👌 those drive shafts are bit of a worry 🤯 Tamiya really should look at these things harder 🤷 still an easy fix with the o rings but it should be right out of the box Tamiya 🤦 looking forward to the body video!! Hope you and the family have a great Christmas 😊 I'll be building my thunder shot 😁
Thank Mark! I do have to triple check that I did not goof up anything but it is working now so if I didn't it should be good now. I am hopeful the body works out, if it looks like it does in my head it should be awesome! Take care and Merry Christmas to you as well! Enjoy the Thundershot, I love that buggy!
Glad you enjoyed it and the goofy intro! I am hoping to get the body done next week while I am off of work for a while. If it turns out as good as it looks in my head it will be pretty neat! Merry Christmas to you and your family!
Nice build, strange they give you all the extra parts 🤔 only thing i could thing of with the dogbones is to fit in the rear if you go four wherl steering ? Nice to see a few of the xmas collection 🎅 and looking forward to seeing what you do with it 👍
It seems they giver you the exact same parts and hardware as the 6x6 kits and just have the modified chassis in there. The only thing missing is the 3rd diff from what I can tell. Yes, the additional black axles are for the 4ws setup for this one. I was debating on doing it but from I have seen the regular steering is plenty and on less thing to worry about adjusting to get right! I will be working on the paint next week while I am off, I hope I pull off what is in my head!
Hi Addam………shhhhh! 😂😂😂😂get on with the build man ! 😂😂😂 nah! I miss you 😉🤗😉 seems like Tamiya may have provided multiple additional components, after raiding the G6-01 chassis, they typically raid what they already have and make do with something that they already have in production. Looks like the dog bones needed to be more bespoke from Tamiya, perhaps they should have used CVD’s. As for the friction shocks, it’s never been something that I’ve understood from Tamiya, why oh why they don’t just provide oils shocks, surely can’t be much cost difference between friction shock bodies and oil shock bodies. Looking forward to seeing the bespoke body 😊😊a lovely Tamiya kit still. Hope you’ve had a good Christmas, a very happy New Year to you and the family 😊🎁🥳
Hey there John! I am sure you are not the first to tell me to hush and get on with it! LOL!!! The truck itself is pretty cool, all the extra bits and parts and stuff are confusing and some are needed for the 4WS conversion but they still have a ton of extra stuff in there. I triple checked the rear end the other day and verified I had everything in right places. I did pull the black axles and added a O-ring into the stub axles now the silver axles are not popping out and there is no binding so it is good to go. I guess they are hoping everyone goes out and buy their overpriced hop-ups for the shocks. I think most folks are going to hop on eBay and get some cheap ones for it! I am sure there will be plenty that buy the upgrades though. We had a great Christmas and I hope you did as well! Wishing you all the best in the new year!
Nice, Addam! If that's a metal gear servo, I suggest simply putting on a metal solid servo horn on it. The stock servo saver is weak. It'll begin staying spread, and you'll wonder why your steering is straight only sometimes. It happened to me on my King Yellow. I have metal servo horns on both ends, and it's just fine.
It is and I do have a few of the metal horns in my stash. I will run it stock and then decide on what to do for upgrades but thanks for the head up on it.
I need one of these. Nice build. Looks like it has the same parts trees and hardware as the G6-01. It’s 6 wheel drive and uses all of those spares. They seem to give you a G6-01 kit with a 4 wheel chassis instead of 6 wheel chassis.
That is what I am thinking as well, it seems to only be missing the 3rd diff, axles and wheels and tires. Overall it was a real nice truck to build and I kind love all the gears!
Hey Addam, now I can't wait to see what paint scheme you have planed for the Tamiya Squish Van 😂😂 There's a lot of extra's in that kit, I would have been a little confused to which dog bone goes where since I have only built one. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this one. Take care and Merry Christmas to you and the family💯💯💯💯
If I can get the paint on there like it is in my head it should turn out pretty cool! There are a ton of extra bits and I thought I may have put the wrong sized arms on the rear but I checked them this morning and they were right. I was able to put an o-ring in both sides and now the silver ones are working properly. No binding and no popping out. They needed a dog bone exactly in between the two they give you! Take care and I hope you and your family has a very merry Christmas and I hope to get your body painted next week, I want to get it to you this year LOL! Have a great time with the grandkids!
I am very hopeful I pull off the paint job, if it comes out like it looks in my head it will be very cool! I am hopeful there is a couple more cool trucks on this chassis too!
Glad you got the Squash Van Addam. And wait to see what you do with the body 😊 yeah be much better with oil shocks and they should include bearings for it 👍👍 awesome though dude looks a great truck.. happy Christmas to you and your family dude hope you have a wonderful time 😊😊😃 Pete
Yeah it did not make sense to me they included all the parts for the GF06 truck in the kit but can't help you out with bearings! I am convinced someone in Tamiya once made the mistake of ordering way too many bushings and they have been sitting on some ginormous stockpile of plastic bushing for the last 30 years and this is the only way they can get rid of them! I am sure it will drive much better with the oil filled socks as it feels very bouncy on the bench. I am looking forward to me break and hope to get a good bit of stuff done I want to next week! Wishing you and your family a very Christmas and a happy new year as well!
Cool build! It’s similar to my GF-01 (comical) that I just built with all those gears and bearings. GF-02 much longer wheelbase though. Look forward to a run video and thoughts
I think it is really the same kit with a few extra gears and the extended chassis. I will be getting the body done next week and then I can see how well it runs. I think it will be a bit bouncy but overall I think it will be a fun one!!
Merry Christmas to you and your family as well! Overall it was a fun build and I love all the gears! You'll have fun with it if you get one. I will let you guys know if I find out what I am y have done wrong with the axles if I did, I need to triple check it all before I run it. I have to get the body done too, that will be next week!
Merry Christmas to you as well! I think they just tossed a ton of stuff in the box as it shares so many parts from the other kits. I am pretty sure, with some help from others, that I may have put the wrong set of arms on the rear and that is why the issue wit the dog bones happened. I am going to have to check it out and see but I am fairly sure I goofed up and got the wrong ones on there. So many extra parts it was hard to tell and I was kind of frazzled that day since the washer I had just repaired broke again and we needed to replace it so this was not getting my full attention at the end! I am gonna work on the body next and fingers crossed it comes out like what I have in my head! If it does it will look pretty cool!
Be careful, the multiply very quickly!!! LOL! It starts with one or two innocent buggies and trucks and next thing you know you are hanging shelves and have totes of parts and pieces! It is a wonderful hobby though and don't hesitate to ask questions if you have any!
@@AddamsPlayground thanks for the reply! Very excited, the community seems super helpful and interactive. Do you have any suggestions for a good transmitter? I currently just have two Deerc 300e rtrs which came with a cheap plastic feeling controller. Looking at starting a lunchbox build with my son and don't know which transmitter to look at. There's so many options for anything it seems, kind of intimidating jumping in.
@@BigDumbMeRC I have not used one but I know a lot of people have used the Radiolink RC4GS V3 radio and are very happy with it. It is not expensive and can hold up to 30 models in memory so all you need is extra R6FG receivers for the other cars. I use the Spektrum DX5C radio and I get the knock-off SR3100 receivers from eBay and have had good luck with them. You can find the RadioLink radio and receivers on Amazon and the Spektrum one there and other retailers online and in store.
I have gone back and checked everything and it is all correct but the axles are still wonky. I solved it by running the shorter axles with o-rings on each and and that is keeping them from popping out and from binding so it is all good now but still wonky. The "Carolina Squat" Is where you take a truck and install a lift kit in the front and leave the back stock so it rides around with the front end up and the rear end dragging around like it is paralyzed or something. It is a ridiculous looking fad and gives me little hope in our future as a species... LOL!
Thanks Keith. I am hoping I can pull off what I have in my head, if I can it will be really cool! I will be working on that next week while I have some time off! Take care and wishing you and the family a very Merry Christmas!!
@@AddamsPlayground Welcome to my world... I see things I wanna do, but it never ends that way..... RC wise that is (we won't get into the other stuff in my head, LOL).
I think the extra parts were used on the 6X6 Konghead. Including the dog bones and the extra hubs/bearing carriers. Typical Tamiya using the same parts trees from other kits. Are they the same friction shocks that you get on the lower end TT-02 kits? They should have oil shocks for the price of this kit. Are you doing box art paint?
I am thinking the same thing, it is basically the parts trees and hardware from the 6x6 kit minus the 3rd diff. I got it working good and that is all that matters. The shacks are different from the TT02 ones, I feel the TT02 ones are bit better honestly! I am sure I will be sticking some oil shocks on here fairly quickly! I am not doing anything near the box art! I am hoping I can pull it off!
I agree Addam😂, that name should be canned! Yeah, that’s a bit weird having bits and pieces left over that are really meant for this. I think there are some fans in the monster truck sport that like that “Carolina” squat as you say. Maybe Tamiya was trying to simulate that characteristic? Kinda odd that the rear dog bones want to jump out when at full extension. The o- ring solve seems like an afterthought on their end. Why not produce longer dog bones and not use the prongs at all? Other than these questions, this thing looks like it’s sure to be a fun ride! M excited to see what you come up with for a paint job and to finally see this run! A Merry Christmas 🎄🎁 to you brother! Hope you all are well! 🤗🙌 God Bless!
Yeah the name makes me laugh as it was their best idea! I cannot have a truck running around looking like a dog dragging its but on the grass, so it will have to ride level for me! I still have to go back down and look at it all again to verify I did not screw anything up to make the dog bones that loose. It seems they pretty much give you all the parts for the 6X^ kit except for the chassis and the 3rd diff for some reason. I am hoping the paint job comes out as good as it looks in my head! I can focus on the body for it next week while I am oof. If I can pull off the paint job then it will look awesome!! Merry Christmas to you and your family as well!
Thank Duke! I am hoping to get the body done on it very soon, I am excited to see it done! I just hope I can get what is in my head on the body! If I can it should look pretty cool!
Hey Addam hope you have had a great Christmas 🎄 and my guess on the dogbones is possibly for the 4ws set up I'm literally in middle of the g6 01 rear set up now finally decided on motor 😆
We did have a great one, I hope you did as well! Per the instructions the black axles are for the steering ends and the silver is for the fixed position. Sadly neither work well for the fixed ends. I triple checked the arms and they are the correct ones for the rears and it states the silver ones are for the rear. Mine were popping out testing it on the bench so I put the longer ones in and they were just binding under full compression so I decided to put the silver ones back in but had to put O-ring in the lower drive cups to keep them from popping out at the top. There is a little bit of pressure at full compression but not the forceable binding it had from the black dog bones. It is just odd to me why I have not seen anyone else with this issue. Maybe I got a wonky set of silver axles in mine, I doubt it though. It is working now and I have verified I did not use the wrong arms so it is what it is and I have to start working on the body!
I did not see any, I was hoping they had recommendations of what shocks to use but did not see any in there. I will probably use the 50520 shocks as I should be able to build them to the proper length easily.
I like how it's gear driven instead of belt driven even though that's a lot of gears lol I'm going to guess you have a Samsung washer that's self-destructed
Not as efficient as a belt drive but should hold up to just about anything forever! I am kind of digging all the gears in there! Yes it was a Samsung washer! It had broken previously, I thought something got caught in the front and chewed up the door seal, I replaced the door seal and then it happened again on the second load. So instead of throwing more money at it and short time before the holiday it got replaced with a GE. I am convinced all appliances are garbage at this point.
Yes, just a single AA battery! If it runs clean and smooth on a AA it should run great when finished. It is also a great way to hear if there may be issues and the AA battery is not strong enough to break anything if something is goofed up! safety check all the way around!
Annoying. But it isn't the first time they missed up the length of the bones. My Blackfoot got an 200 EUR Ampro upgrade just for this issue. And this is Tamiya's upcoming new star😡. With the dampers I'm fine the front ones should be harder than the rears. But I don't like that they implement this fact in the look of the chassis. Great video Addam and Merry Christmas.
Yeah the axle issue is very odd to me and I have to go down and look at it all again to make sure I did not miss something. I understand the front being a little stiffer but the squat look is not cool looking and I am going to have to stiffen the rear up a little. I can worry about that later with the upgrades. I am just hoping the paint job turns out well and I will be working on that next week while I mam off. Take care Dirk and merry Christmas!
Yeah the name and the box art did nothing for me. I am going to go far from it and try some ideas on it. I will be working on it next week when I get a bit of a break!
I pre-ordered as soon as it was announced! I am not a fan of the name and the box art is ok but I am gonna do my own thing for the body and paint! I hope it turns out as cool as it does in my head!
Well, yes you are crazy...but that does not have anything to do with this build. 😁 I wonder if the extra parts are for the GF-06 chassis? I have not built mine yet so I have no insight. That was one last year's winter projects still in the box. 😬
Well you are right about that! Crazy and confused is how I spend my life now! LOL! It does seem like it is the 6x6 kit with out the 3rd diff and the chassis. It is funny they give you all this extra parts and hardware but cannot come off a few bearings! LOL! I swear someone at Tamiya ordered like a trillion bushings by accident decades ago and they are still trying to get rid of the excess stock of them all these years later!
@AddamsPlayground I will have to check my kit for two sets of black dog bones and one set of metal. I am curious now! Good call on the bushings surplus! I cannot imagine how inefficient these gear-train chassises would be with bushings. It is a really cool idea having the monocoque chassis full of gears but so inherently inefficient. I keep wondering if I could convert one to an internal belt drive...
@@AddamsPlayground yeah! Finding a tensioner and the correct belt would be a challenge but perhaps replacing the differential with a pully-on-shaft is the way to go?
@@canuckchuck8836 the space inside is enough to make 3D printed hybrid gear/ pullies to make it work. I am not good enough to design them though. Brice could in a couple hours!!
You just have to learn how to sell it! "It will help out the channel and give me a few different videos worth of content." "I have not bought a big RCs in quite a while" Addam told me I should get one" The Internet made me do it"... Ok those last two may not help at all but it may make her laugh and distract her enough to say yes! LOL!!!
Yeah I am fine with the box art colors, I just have my own spin I want to do for it. The name I still laugh at, in a board room somewhere in Japan this was picked as the best they could come up with!?!?! LOL!
I think the 4ws is going to be too much and make it twitchy and want to flip over all the time. We will try it on normal steering first and see how it goes. It may get converted over later.
Oh, yes, I sense that those stencils will be taken into use on this one! Possibly even the pin-up girls? This must be the body in all of RC that will benefit most from having a pin-up girl painted on it! I'll be looking forward to that, or whatever you decide with the body, it'll be cool! For once, I actually do like the boxart on this one, it looks retrocool! Oh, the weirdness of this chassis... Yeah, I built the GF-01 and the G6-01, yeah, they are strange... Seems they continued on that theme... Biggest disappointment for me, they failed on a perfect opportunity to lower the CG significantly, they could have made a battery tray on the side, moved the servo to same side as the motor. But tradition often wins over innovation, ha ha!
No pin-up girls on this one, it is going down a whole other road! I think you will still like it once finished though! The Dirt Master will get them on there though! I found it odd that they give you the parts for a 6X6 in the kit but not a single bearing. So obviously parts cost is nothing to them but for whatever reason bearing cost an absolute fortune on whatever magical island they are one... Very odd and confusing and i am sure it always will be! It is still silly I can buy a RC kit on Amazon for $80 that contains 20+ bearings in it and every time Tamiya places a few in a kit the price jumps up $25!! LOL! I thin it will be fun one to drive but yeah, the CG is not the greatest in there at all! I think you nailed it with the "tradition often wins over innovation" part! Take care Mads!
Nobody does box art better than Tamiya
I agree with you there! I like the look of it, the name is too corny for me but I know where they were going. They just should have tried a little harder to get there! LOL! I would do the box art paint job but I have an idea in my head I need to make a reality! I am hoping it turns out like it is in my head!
All in good fun, my friend! Merry Christmas
Yeah, just some head scratching moment in doing it. Other than the axles it was a really nice build and I gonna get the body done next week when I am off of work for a bit. Merry Christmas to you and your family as well!!!
Merry Christmas to you and your family
Thank you! Wishing you just the same, I hope Santa has some good new parts and kits in his bag for you!
I LOL when you said Carolina Squat. 😂
One of the oddest things I have ever seen catch on. Some of those guys have spent a ton of money to ruin a truck! LOL! I can be having none of that here!
Love the demonstration on how the dog bone was going.🤪
LOL! It was flapping around in there like crazy! LOL! Glad you got a giggle out of it!
@@rcuintheshed6981 yeah, overall I did pretty well. I agree with your grandfather, either has never made anything or is flat out lying! 😂
Hi Addam beside the laser this is the real Christmas toy!! Ciao
Yes, much more fun than the laser! Although the laser went together easier and faster LOL!
I really enjoyed building this. It was fun. Easier than I thought but it had me scratching my head in a few places.
I want 1. I just have not pulled the trigger. Plus, I want the overseas painted version. I suck at painting. Can not wait to see yours
Lots of Tamiya weirdness with this one!🧐
A lot of extras with the King Yellow as well, and a couple steps I had to go back to in order to fix an oversight on my side.
@AddamsPlayground for sure it's Tamiya's bigg3st let down for me just buy 1 million bearings up the price by a bit and include them in every kit.
How did the Dogbone go again? (14:57)(😂😂😂) Nice overview. Look forward to some running. Cheers!
LOL it was all over the place!! Glad you got a giggle out of it! I will be working on the body next week while I am off work for a little bit and I hope I can pull it off well. If I can it should look awesome! Take care and Merry Christmas!
Nice video Addam 😎, Look forward to seeing what you do with the body 😀,
Thank you! If it turns out as good in person as it does in my head it should be pretty cool! I will be working on it next week as I have some time off work so I can enjoy some fun time!
Enjoy it and TAKE YOUR TIME with the paint 😀,
@@herbieRCpaints53 LOL! Yes, I will not rush through this one! LOL!
Enjoy the Thundershot, I love that buggy!
cool
It is a neat one and the first I have done with all the gears it works really well! I am looking forward to getting the body done next week!
Nice build 😊 Liked the intro too 😂 Can't wait to see the non-boxart body. Merry Christmas 🎄🎅
Hi Addam, Merry Christmas to you and your family, best wishes, Paul. 🎄
Thank Paul! Merry Christmas to you and your family as well! Hope Santa has a few great things for you under the tree!
@@AddamsPlayground hopefully the Hotshot 2 next month.
Can’t wait to see what you come up with and I was wondering what other cars Tamiya will come out with with this chassis
I am very hopeful I pull off the paint job, if it comes out like it looks in my head it will be very cool! I am hopeful there is a couple more cool trucks on this chassis too!
1 it’s a spin off of the pumpkin, 2 monster trucks squash cars😁
Oh I understand the concept of the name, just not the fact that was the best thing they could come up!!! LOL!
@@AddamsPlayground hahahaha..
Merry Christmas Addam!
Merry Christmas to you and your family and wishing you a very happy new year!
Merry Christmas Addam!! This is another rig I plan to get. Thank you for all the tips and tricks!!
Merry Christmas brother. They have the looks nailed on this one. Seems like a bit of Tamiya over Engineering as well...lol.
Such a beautiful looking kit. Pretty new to RCs and hoping to get my first Tamiya in February
Great to hear your thoughts on this build
8:00 Did you say Carolina squat ?? I have not heard that before 😂😂
I have gone back and checked everything and it is all correct but the axles are still wonky. LOL!
Great job Addam. Looking forward to seeing what you do with the body. Merry Christmas.
Thanks Keith. I am hoping I can pull off what I have in my head, if I can it will be really cool! I will be working on that next week while I have some time off! Take care and wishing you and the family a very Merry Christmas!!

Thanks Bob! I am hoping I can get what is in my head on the body and if I can pull it off it should look awesome! Merry Christmas my friend!
Cool build and tips
Hi Adam. Hope you are doing well. Do the instructions show any information on replacing the spring shocks with oil dampers? Thanks!
I did not see any, I was hoping they had recommendations of what shocks to use but did not see any in there. I will probably use the 50520 shocks as I should be able to build them to the proper length easily.
I like how it's gear driven instead of belt driven even though that's a lot of gears lol
I'm going to guess you have a Samsung washer that's self-destructed
Not as efficient as a belt drive but should hold up to just about anything forever! I am kind of digging all the gears in there! Yes it was a Samsung washer! It had broken previously, I thought something got caught in the front and chewed up the door seal, I replaced the door seal and then it happened again on the second load. So instead of throwing more money at it and short time before the holiday it got replaced with a GE. I am convinced all appliances are garbage at this point.
@@AddamsPlayground how old was the Samsung you should have bought a whirlpool (made in the US by a US company)
@@nomusicrc it was 7ish years old. We got.what was in stock at the time that was not $1200 😂
@@AddamsPlayground 7 years is average 5 or less for GE sorry
Wait .... Did you test it with a AA battery?? I never thought of running a motor off a AA!
I'm glad you're not going box art. I'm intrigued to see what it's going to be like! The box art doesn't really do anything for me!
Yeah the name and the box art did nothing for me. I am going to go far from it and try some ideas on it. I will be working on it next week when I get a bit of a break!
heh i remember lookin at this a month or two ago, ya got one eh?
I pre-ordered as soon as it was announced! I am not a fan of the name and the box art is ok but I am gonna do my own thing for the body and paint! I hope it turns out as cool as it does in my head!
@@AddamsPlayground Heh, really? I kinda dig the art, the name yah a bit odd.
Well, yes you are crazy...but that does not have anything to do with this build. 😁
I wonder if the extra parts are for the GF-06 chassis?
@@canuckchuck8836 that would be an interesting conversion!
@@AddamsPlayground yeah! Finding a tensioner and the correct belt would be a challenge but perhaps replacing the differential with a pully-on-shaft is the way to go?

I think the 4ws is going to be too much and make it twitchy and want to flip over all the time. We will try it on normal steering first and see how it goes. It may get converted over later.
@@AddamsPlayground there's some videos out there that show up with four-wheel steering and it isn't that bad with it.
