I wish Tamiya would just offer bearing in all kits or even a discount coupon for them. I do like that they are starting to cut the wheel arches my Porsche GT3 has the same so makes it easier and look better than my terrible cutting.
Yeah they've gotta start giving us something! To think you can get an Arrma Gorgon, RTR for $200 or so, with a painted body, bearings, motor/esc/servo/radio, battery and charger... And for the same price you can get a Tamiya Lunchbox with NOTHING else seems insane, doesn't it?
@poorboysrc I seen the Gorgon in Ontario and others at Big Boy Toys Though for me a TT02 is my 2nd electric car is way cheaper than nitro especially in Canada. I do prefer to paint the body myself and love the noise of nitro but electric is simple.
@poorboysrc yeah it does and that's why I don't have a fleet of Tamiya cars. For a fully built Tamiya I can but a full race spec buggy or on road race car. I love what Tamiya does but I can't go for more than a couple in the collection.

I've seen a lot of speculation online, James. Possibly pre painted, some think the tires were a variant of the Blackfoot, and of course.... "Included esc..." 🤦
A pumpkin is a squash.. the name is a play on the midnight pumpkin. It’s a 53-56 ford just like the pumpkin, and being a monster truck, it squashes cars.
Great unboxing Fil..... You totally 'squashed' it dude!! Loving the 'curvy' body (who doesn't?!😂)..... and a great bonus having four gashes.... I'm talking about the pre cut arches by the way! Never too early for a tire sniff.... I didn't realise it came with blackfoot tires, love those, it's been a few years since I saw that tread pattern. Great forward thinking on the bearings and dampers, such a shame they don't come as standard.... but no ESC either, shame on you Tamiya! But hey, we still keep coming back for more eh?..... I'm guessing the Tamiya accounts are fully aware of this fact. Hope we get to see a full build video, and judging by your last few running videos..... I'm definitely staying tuned matey! Great unboxing Fil. Maybe you'll need the white colour, too for backing the pearl white🤔. Bushings are almost someting we expect from Tamiya, but friction dampers're annoying. So many (beginner) kits have oilies. ESC... in their last released kits Tamiya went with the 1060s, which is great, until it comes to mount the power switch. Maybe that's not the way they want to go into the future. Or... they're testing out how much the customers accept to pay for this new model.😢 Okay I like the precutted body and the 4WS option. Looking forward for your next videos about it.
@@poorboysrc depending on some beginner sets I had done, I can guess that you have to buy the chassis and the body seperate. We'll see, and I hope Cina gets them back in line😉
Very cool van! The kit I got for the Ford GT said the same 'not included' ..but it came with the 04S ESC for brushless conversion. It's a 50A and the one I'm running is 60A so I might just resell it. Still cool they put one in the kit like they already know you're gonna go brushless.

I bought an aluminium gearbox for my CW01 Lunchbox to go with my aluminium chassis, looks great and runs brilliantly with it’s 2700kv Orion all in one brushless motor/esc. Yes I know I’m a bit late for the speed run, maybe next time. Anyway Phil, excellent unboxing. 🤓
I picked up this kit and mine came with an ESC. Though I think it's the distributer, T2M Racing, here in France that added it. They add a sticker to the box stating an ESC is included.
It's a really great looking truck, pal. I think it's gonna perform well, too. You'll need some ball bearings and oil shocks to make it work, but other than that, it's a good platform. I'll have a build video for you guys in a day or two! 👊🏼
Hey great unboxing Fil and that kit looks right up my street. Didn't know it had the rear steer capability. I did put that option on my Konghead and Volvo Hauler but I'd be inclined to leave it off this one as it's only got 4 wheels and probably turns well anyway. I look forward to seeing this one done. Now this is a kit that I have been excited about since I first saw it was coming out, but a shame about the ESC. Are the uprights and arms the same as your G6-01? The only reason I ask is because I am wounding if Tamiya track units would fit on this chassis.
Hello Fil, I have found that it depends on where you buy your kit if you get an ESC or not. Whenever I buy a Tamiya kit from Japan, I do not get an ESC. If I buy it here in the USA I usually do get an ESC. Not sure why that is? Thoughts?
I see that a lot these days. I find more kits come better equipped in the UK than they do here in North America. Oil shocks, esc's, bearings, and we get friction shocks and shattered hopes and dreams. Lol! I'm sure there's a bean-counter at the Tamiya plant that determined that the North Americans will tolerate inferior kit contents when compared to UK.

I love 'em! They're 60mm Yeah Racing Big Bores that I bought several years ago for another project. I don't know if they make them anymore, but if you can find them, grab them, they're perfect!

Great unboxing Phil. Information about new Tamiya releases can be very confusing. I didn't know if my CC-02 Bronco was going to have a TBLE-04 or a THW-1060 because of conflicting pre release articles in the press etc, so I bought a Surpass 1060 Crawler ESC & motor combo before it arrived to be on the safe side. But it did in fact come with the THW-1060 which is now waiting for a ride. I used that exact paint on the rear cab of my CrossRC PG4 , and you're right, it's definitely more suitable for the retro style and looks much better than bright white.

once again it appears that tamiya is resting on their laurels instead of innovating. What the hell is up with all those gears instead of a simple shaft drive? friction dampers? you get oil filled aluminum shocks and ball bearings on the $79 wltoys 144001.
It's a cool truck Fil, but I am not buying Tamiya kits anymore due to the huge cost and the lack of what you get for the money. Now no ESC's! C'mon Tamiya, what a slap in the face that is! It's bad enough that they cheap out on the bearings and shocks, but now they have put me over the edge. NO MORE TAMIYA'S FOR ME.
I hear ya pal, it's pretty surprising that all the online marketing says the kit comes with an esc, but the box clearly states otherwise. Maybe if we make enough of a stink about it, Tamiya will straighten up their game. 🍻👊🏼

Bushings are almost someting we expect from Tamiya, but friction dampers're annoying. So many (beginner) kits have oilies.
ESC... in their last released kits Tamiya went with the 1060s, which is great, until it comes to mount the power switch. Maybe that's not the way they want to go into the future.
Or... they're testing out how much the customers accept to pay for this new model.😢

@@poorboysrc depending on some beginner sets I had done, I can guess that you have to buy the chassis and the body seperate. We'll see, and I hope Cina gets them back in line😉

Very cool van! The kit I got for the Ford GT said the same 'not included' ..but it came with the 04S ESC for brushless conversion. It's a 50A and the one I'm running is 60A so I might just resell it. Still cool they put one in the kit like they already know you're gonna go brushless.
I'm happy with the HW1060, but if a brushless capable esc is included, even better! 👌😉

I bought an aluminium gearbox for my CW01 Lunchbox to go with my aluminium chassis, looks great and runs brilliantly with it’s 2700kv Orion all in one brushless motor/esc. Yes I know I’m a bit late for the speed run, maybe next time. Anyway Phil, excellent unboxing. 🤓

I picked up this kit and mine came with an ESC. Though I think it's the distributer, T2M Racing, here in France that added it. They add a sticker to the box stating an ESC is included.

It's a really great looking truck, pal. I think it's gonna perform well, too. You'll need some ball bearings and oil shocks to make it work, but other than that, it's a good platform. I'll have a build video for you guys in a day or two! 👊🏼

Hey great unboxing Fil and that kit looks right up my street. Didn't know it had the rear steer capability. I did put that option on my Konghead and Volvo Hauler but I'd be inclined to leave it off this one as it's only got 4 wheels and probably turns well anyway. I look forward to seeing this one done. I think the reason it's got all those uprights is the 4 wheel steer option. Remember G6-01 also had a lot of extra bits...

Now this is a kit that I have been excited about since I first saw it was coming out, but a shame about the ESC.
Are the uprights and arms the same as your G6-01? The only reason I ask is because I am wounding if Tamiya track units would fit on this chassis.
I just checked and they're slightly different. Basically the same shape, and still 2 piece arms, but the are different, unfortunately. 😭

Hello Fil, I have found that it depends on where you buy your kit if you get an ESC or not. Whenever I buy a Tamiya kit from Japan, I do not get an ESC. If I buy it here in the USA I usually do get an ESC. Not sure why that is? Thoughts?
I see that a lot these days. I find more kits come better equipped in the UK than they do here in North America. Oil shocks, esc's, bearings, and we get friction shocks and shattered hopes and dreams. Lol! I'm sure there's a bean-counter at the Tamiya plant that determined that the North Americans will tolerate inferior kit contents when compared to UK.

I love 'em! They're 60mm Yeah Racing Big Bores that I bought several years ago for another project. I don't know if they make them anymore, but if you can find them, grab them, they're perfect!
They are all squash Fil. In fact, they could have put a pickle on the door and it would have been correct. I wonder if the Midnight Pumpkin name originally came from wanting to name it with reference to squash, as that's what monster trucks do. They squash things...these are deep thoughts Fil. Great unboxing Phil. Information about new Tamiya releases can be very confusing. I didn't know if my CC-02 Bronco was going to have a TBLE-04 or a THW-1060 because of conflicting pre release articles in the press etc, so I bought a Surpass 1060 Crawler ESC & motor combo before it arrived to be on the safe side. But it did in fact come with the THW-1060 which is now waiting for a ride. At least I knew that the version I ordered had a pre painted body! ruclips.net/video/vdqsuDVefC8/видео.html 😁Good choice with the Pearl White too. I used that exact paint on the rear cab of my CrossRC PG4 , and you're right, it's definitely more suitable for the retro style and looks much better than bright white.

once again it appears that tamiya is resting on their laurels instead of innovating. What the hell is up with all those gears instead of a simple shaft drive? friction dampers? you get oil filled aluminum shocks and ball bearings on the $79 wltoys 144001.
The friction shocks thing drives me bananas! All good in the 80's, but it's time to step it up!

It's a cool truck Fil, but I am not buying Tamiya kits anymore due to the huge cost and the lack of what you get for the money. Now no ESC's! C'mon Tamiya, what a slap in the face that is! It's bad enough that they cheap out on the bearings and shocks, but now they have put me over the edge. NO MORE TAMIYA'S FOR ME.
I hear ya pal, it's pretty surprising that all the online marketing says the kit comes with an esc, but the box clearly states otherwise. Maybe if we make enough of a stink about it, Tamiya will straighten up their game. 🍻👊🏼

But they just don't seem to care. It's too bad, because the value and desirability of these new kits is greatly affected by this cheap-skate approach.

It's only smart to give the customers what they really want but it seems that since the company was passed down after the original owner died, things seem to me that they are cheapening out to fill their pockets with more profits. Either way I think I will always love Tamiya for the memories they gave me back in the 80's & 90's.
