- Just an update and some fun running footage of Christmas day. I got both of the Son-in-laws SCX24 Deadbolts but we took out My new toy, The Kyosho Mad Van and also the Gorgon to have some fun. The Mad Van is a ton of fun, and I am not disappointed in that one at all. The guys loved their little crawlers, we did not get any footage of that. I got some work done in the garage for my laser cutter and some other update stuff in there as well!
You guys are all awesome and I appreciate all the great comments and questions from everyone. Really enjoying talking to you all in the comments section.

The Mad Van is a bit nutty in the perfect way! I had a blast with it and it was slinging stuff all over the place! The little Brum car is very cool looking and it is in great shape except for the corroded terminals. I will trying and get it running soon and make a video on it. I am hoping a good cleaning is all that is needed, otherwise I am gonna have to start swapping electronics out. I do need to find a couple episodes of the show and watch them!

The little Brum RC was to cool to pass up. It is in really great shape, it was just covered in dust from sitting around for quite a while. I am hoping with a good cleaning of the battery terminals it will work again! Take care my friend!

Great things comming up. I'm cirious about the oldtimet and the truck.
LOL!! Sadly I used to be able to knock something like that together in an hours or two back when I was working in the cabinet shops. With Harry-Homeowner tools and old knees and back it all takes a good bit longer but still was able to get it together in about 6 hours or so. It is not a Steinway but it will definitely serve it's purpose for many years to come. I was able to tinker around with the old RadioShack kits some today, I got Brum working, mostly, it has a one thing not working but it is good enough. The Semi truck, well.... that has some issues! I will do a video on them fairly soon!
G'day Addam😃, we're glad you had a nice Christmas👍. We love the mad van, such a cool and detailed body, I've always wanted to try and fit a tt02 chassis under it to make a scale looking van from back in the day. Brum look so quirky, Ingrid reckons it needs a Wild Willy or something in it 👌😂.

Thanks Guys, we had a great time together and I hope you guys had a good one as well. I am hoping Ingrid is feeling better too! The Mad Van is crazy in all the right ways! I had a blast driving it and the guy enjoyed running the Gorgon out there with it. The Little Brum car is too cute and I had thought the same thing for it, putting it on the Wild Willy chassis but it is kind of too perfect as is to tear up! I will get this one running and who knows, I may stumble across another super cheap and use it as a donor. The little semi truck was too cool to pass up as well. Lots and lots more to do this week but it is on a more relaxed schedule, or lack of schedule so that makes it not work and just fun! The Mad Van is great!! I loved running it around! it is the perfect balance of crazy and control and it is a smile maker for sure! The Mad Van is a bit nutty in the best way! I had a blast with it and the guys enjoyed learning on the Gorgon. Neither of them have much experience with good RCs. They did both enjoy their new SCX24s though and we laughed for a good while out there flipping and crashing them all over the place! You are going to enjoy the Gorgon! It is a lot of fun! It is a lot of fun! I was very pleased with the speed and handling of it. It would tend to spin out instead of flip over most of the time. It would still flip but not as much as it looks like it would! It has been raining since Christmas day so I hope to be able to get back out with it this weekend for some more fun!

My 2 sons loved brum,watched it for many years as they were growing up. There now 15-17
Once I am done responding to comments this morning I am going to find some episodes of it to watch. Seems like it was a very popular show for many! I don't recall every seeing any shows of it here in the US before but it may have been something on between me being a kid and me having kids. It is a cool little RC and I will get it running one way or another!

The Mad Van is a fun one, wish I had gotten it sooner! It is a nice balance of nutty power and stability to make it very fun to drive. The old RadioShack ones are cool, I got Brum mostly working and the poor semi is gonna end up be a display piece. I will get any update on them soon.

Thanks John! I used to be able to slap something like that together in an hour back in my cabinet shop days! Now with Harry-Homeowner tools and old knees, eyes and energy it takes much longer but I got it all done in a day so I have the rest of my days off for fun stuff! The Mad Van was a blast and the perfect amount of mad and controlled to be a lot of fun! That reed color is so much better in person, the camera does not capture the cool candy look it has. I am hoping to keep the Brum all original but if the corrosion damaged stuff internally then I will replace the electronics and leave it looking stock. If I find another super cheap I may get it for a donor car but I kind of fell in love with the looks of it when I got it!
That laser cutter is going to be very handy I bet, and sweet job on the station it’s going to live on!👍🏻

It is a perfect little cart and will help keep it protected and out of the way when not being used. That thing rips pretty good. I like how much abuse it can take without spending half the time on its roof. They dialed in the the wheelie bar and tires pretty good. Thanks for sharing and nice flippers.
It was a fun one to sling around out there! It did end up on its roof from time to time but over all it just whips around and tears away! They did seem to balance it out well and make it as easy to drive as possible. It is a smile maker for sure!!!
That Radio Shack tractor trailer would be great to fit into a 1/14 trailer! Have it pop out! But, I really like that Brum car! It's unique and cool looking! Great haul this video!
It would be like a semi truck giving birth to another one! LOL! The little Brum car is too cute! I had initially plan on ripping the body off of it and sticking onto another kit for fun but it is too cool looking as is and is just enough of an odd size It is not a great fit for the others. I will leave it sotck unless the corrosion damaged other bit in there and if so I will swap in other electronics to get it running!

Thanks Pete! The stand will help me both keep it clean and safe and also make it mobile so I am not fighting to find a spot for it when I need my workbench out there. Granted the workbench is often buried in tool and stuff from the last handful of projects worked on but still, I am trying to be organized LOL!!! The Mad Van is a ton of fun, so much fun slinging it around and trying t ride wheelies! I will get it out on the track at some point. It is pouring down rain at the moment so it will be a little bit. The little Brum car is really cool looking and I am hoping I clean up the battery terminals and it still work. I am thinking I am going to try and keep it all stock if possible. I need to look for some episode of the show to say I have seen one!

LOL took me right out of my shoes! I had to double foot jump it and shoes went flying!! It was a blast and I had a great time, the cold wet socks was not great but worth it! LOL!!!
The Mad Van looks great. As you said that's a great color.When you can hear you laughing that tells me the designers reached their goal of designing a truck that is a lot of fun. That is a great gift. It's the type of r/c that you can have ready, charge a battery and have some laughs. It is probably made to be anything but a shelf queen. I think it would be fun in the snow. I hope you and your family have a happy and healthy new year.
The Mad Van is a really cool one and a ton of fun! It is nice occasionally to get one and be able to slap in a battery and go! They nailed it with the performance and stability of the truck. It is definitely not going to be a shelf queen although it is a quite a looker! In couple inches of snow it would probably be a blast, I am also thinking some paddle tires and a trip to the beach would be a good look for it as well! The Mad Van was a lot of fun and my Mom did good with that one! The Brum was a cool car I got for a great price on eBay as well as the semi truck. I was able to tinker with them some today, I got Brum running, mostly, there is still some issues but it is good enough. The semi, well... not so much. I am not sure it will be mobile but it is still an interesting one for the collection. I will get a video of them done soon I hope. Happy new year to you as well, wishing you all the best!

Yes! My mom nailed it with the Mad Van! That thing is fun and it looks good too! The eBay scores are really neat and I was able to get Brum working mostly today. There is still an issue with it but it is good enough. The semi truck sadly is not going to be a driver, it is still a neat looking one and I may be able to fix it if I find the rights bit for it somewhere down the line! I will try and get any update done on them soon.

Those mad vans are a blast to drive, and the Fazer mk2 platform that they are built on is a very tough chassis that really takes some abuse!
Pretty decent transmitters as standard to.

Thanks James! It pretty much is a Lunch Box on performance enhancing medication!! LOL! I do like the chassis and the radio is nice too, all the features you could want! The rolling cart came out nice and it works just like I had hoped, keeps it clean and protected when not in use and keep all the smoke and fumes out of the garage when in use. I used it some the other day and zero smoky smell in the garage! I am staying out of trouble, just recuperating from the extremely busy weeks leading up to Christmas! I have also been searching for the motivation to take down the decorations.... have not found it yet, I may keep looking for it or I may not! LOL!

It is working goo enough as I do not want to mess with it but so much and end up breaking something. There is a lot going on under that body! Looks like the old game of RC Pinball...if something is out there you're going to hit it at some point...RCs are attracted to posts, trees, feet and legs, curbs, and each other. At least with my driving style 😂 The MadVan is great, seems durable too. I would put it in the same category as the brushless Granite. Maybe not as durable, but so much fun to bash!
Yeah pretty much! The only thing we did not hit was a curb but a another set of batteries and we may have even found one of those out here! LOL! I did not keep it in the video but I did nail myself in the leg once really well but it was either the softer hit of my leg or possibly one of the 6x6 posts under the deck to so decided to take the blow! The funniest one is him hitting the one post and then immediately driving over and hitting the other one exactly the same way. No way in a hundred years could you do it that well on purpose! The Mad Van was a ton a of fun and I am looking forward to driving it again! I doubt if it as tough as the BLX Granite but it took some good tumbles and flops with no complaints so I am very pleased with it!

The Mad van was a lot of fun and the right amount of nutty and stability makes it a blast to drive! The rolling cart worked out well and it will keep the cutter clean and protected, make it safer while using it and I can roll it out of the way when not in use. I also have all the ventilation stuff right there on it so no need to hunt that all down when it is needed!
Brilliant fun Addam out there with the Mad Van! That Brum Radio Shack was tidy! I wonder why they produced a RC based a British kids show? Can’t have been much market for it in the US!
Thanks Craig! The Mad Van was a blast to drive and it was slinging stuff all over the yard! The Little Brum car I assume was mainly made for the Tandy side which was sold in the UK and just made some under the RadioShack name and sold them here as it is cute. I never recall hearing or seeing anything about the show here so I am assuming they had the licensing and just released them here for the looks. It is a great looking little car for sure so I don't blame them at all!

Thanks! I wanted to protect the cutter and keep it easy to move around and everything in one place. It took a little head scratching and planning but I think it will work nicely. I did only get one for Christmas, the others were my poor buying habits! LOL!!! The Little Brum car is really neat and I did just get it working, well mostly, there is one thing not working but I don't want to mess with it too much and risk breaking an important part trying to get a not so important part working. I will get a video done of it fairly soon to explain. The Mad Van was a real blast to drive and yep, took me right out of my shoes! The cold, wet socks kind of sucked but it was worth it!!

Hey Addam Merry Christmas if I didn't say it before. That's cool that you got a Mad Van. I had one for a good while and it is a great fun truck but not quite as durable as the Granite so I did sell it in the end. Also cool to have a Brum RC, even if you've never seen the show! I will try and get the Brum working, the battery terminals are pretty corroded but if I can't get it working I will swap in some new electronics into it. I am hopeful the semi truck just works and I don't have to tinker with it, fingers crossed! I will get them going and record something on them. Take care Martin!

It is a really fun truck and they had them on sale this year at really good prices! I got a lot of good stuff and we had a wonderful time together. I hope yours was good too!

I have been on the fence for a long time about getting one but they had them on sale this year for $220 so I gave it as a suggestion for a gift. I am glad they wet and got it for me, it is a blast! it was so much fun power sliding it all over the place. Could not get a backflip out of it though, just some epic flops!!

Now I know why they call it the mad van 😅 that's a cool present 🎁 I got a tiny ftx outback crawler which is perfect for messing around in the house with my 8 month old boy who's also a crawler 😂
It is a bit mad but in the best way! I am looking forward to getting it out again, I got a lot of run time out of it so that was an added bonus! The little crawlers are great indoor trucks and would be perfect for entertaining the little guy as well as I am sure entertaining yourself! As long as you can out run him it is safe. Once he can catch it you are in trouble LOL!

Yeah, I could not pass on the little semi truck. I did lose out on a few things I bid on but it is probably for the best! LOL! I need another project right now as much as I need to gain more weight! LOL!!! The Brum car does look like it would be something from the Roger Rabbit movie, I had not thought of it until now!! We did have a good Christmas, I hope you did too!

You can cut some display sign for your collection. If it cuts plastic you can then back light them.
I have ideas for the laser cutter. It is supposed to cut colored plastics fairly well and will etch on clear with some practice and prep work. The diode lasers need something opaque to work on and certain colors will also mess it up. Each type has their strengths and weaknesses. This one out due to the price point! I did not want to spend but some much on one right away. Lots of ideas to try and now I have the enclosure I can tinker with other materials and can get rid of the smells and fumes from them.
Ouyeah, lots of coolstuff, Addam! The Madvan is so cool! Other thing I want to comment on is it's good you put a proper ESC into that TT-02B, I think you will be so much more happy with it now. I have to admit, I am beginning to be really biased to that brand, they are just so convenient, they all work pretty much the same way...
And if anyone could sort that leaderboard of yours, of course it'd be Craig! He's quite organised and like keeping times registered, but still a really nice gesture to fix yours!
The Mad Van was a ton of fun and I could have stayed out there all day! The cold wet socks made me want to go in though LOL! If I had known I was going to have to be athletic and jump around out there I would have put real shoes on! LOL I do like the Hobbywing stuff, it just works and it is not as expensive as other brands. They also pretty much have something for every kind of application at this point! Craig is a great guy and It was very nice of him to offer and to do all the leg work, I just have to get down there and get it updated. I will have to try and keep up with it going forward. Top notch work on the cabinet (stand), I can't cut wood straight even if I measure 12 times and cut 3 time.... Don't wear flip flops or sandals while running RC.... Was a time I had to dress as a Hockey Goalie with steel toe boots to stay safe, joking of course but had young, new drivers with with stadium trucks on a small back yard track with jumps.. Trucks used the brand new Trinity Midnight stock motors... LOL. I'm out there with a VHS camcorder (remember those?)....
Thanks Bob! The Mad Van was a blast to drive and I am regretting not getting one earlier now! It is a smile maker for sure! I am just glad the van just took my slides off and did not crack me right in the ankle! It was funny except for the sold wet socks!! LOL! I can imagine a few trucks running around and you standing in the middle with a camera is a recipe for sore ankles, shins and calves! LOL!! I do remember the old VHS, and mini VHS camcorders, Those old over the shoulder ones were so big!
I did get the little Brum car working, mostly is not 100% but it is working good enough. The semi truck was not so lucky, it is gonna be a cool lookin but non running one for the foreseeable future.
The cart for the laser cutter works great and it is not my first time, we built odd stuff like this all the time as favors in the cabinet shops. Someone was always looking for something like that for various items.

Thanks! I am always checking on eBay for cool things like these. many sell for more than I would pay for them but occasionally I do find a bargain or two! The little Brum car is cool and I will get it running soon I hope. The semi truck I could not pass up and it would have been one I would have wanted as a kid for sure. I had fun running the Mad Van around and also driving the SCX24s with the guys on Christmas day. I hope yours was a great day and wishing you all the best for the new year!

Thanks! I wanted something to keep it clean and safe when not in use and to be as easy to work with it as possible while in use! I think it worked out to be a good balance and the only other thing I may do is add in some led strips inside to light it up some more but with lid fully open it is pretty good as is.

The mad van is appropriately named. It runs out of road real quick. I’ve not seen one run before but I think that it delivers the goods just fine
It is a fun one and it more than enough for me! Any faster and I would struggle to have room for it! It was too much fun power sliding it all over! It is definitely a smile maker!!

Hey there Lionel! OH my wheels and wipers! I did watch one or two of the Brum episodes yesterday! It is a cute little show. I have been tinkering with it and got it mostly working, it seems to be missing a function but I think something is missing. It is working though. The semi truck, not as much luck with that, it has a fatal flaw. More on those soon. I did love the Mad Van and kind of wish I had gotten one much sooner! Take care and glad you enjoyed the update. Yeah the Mad Van was a terrific time running it around! Yes! The double post whammy was too funny! He could not have done it any more perfect than that! I have my cars and trucks others can drive and then I have ones that are off limits. The bashers and the common place Tamiya kits are fine but the better kits and the rare ones are mine. There would only be a select few I would hand the controls over to on those! I gave my younger cousin the Arrma Granite to drive and boy did she torture test that one right away!! It looked like a monster jam freestyle final out there on my track!! I was both amused and in terror of the reckless abandon she unleashed on it! LOL!!!
Is the mad van closer in size with the lunch box or Blackfoot after seeing this video definitely putting the mad van higher on the list of what to buy next was wondering if you could show the lunch box next to the mad van just to compare if you have either in a video
The Mad van body is a bit bigger than the lunchbox, mostly in width but some in length. The Mad Van sits way lower to the ground and has a wider stance and longer wheelbase. I can try to squeeze a side by in an upcoming update video. It was a really fun one to romp around with and I am looking forward to getting it back out again. It has been raining pretty much since Christmas day so I have been inside. I hope this weekend I can get back out with it!

It is a cool looking little car! I just went down and measured and it is 208mm for the wheelbase and the body is roughly 150mm wide. It is right at 150 in the front and the rear is a little more like 140ish wide .
Great video! Did you run the mad van on 2s? Is that brushless? I am surprised at the power and being on the same fazed old platform it seems a good skate park brasher too.
I can’t find a good price for it though….maybe It’s the wife blocking my next purchase 😂
I am glad you enjoyed it. It is brushless and it was on 2s. It is a great mix of nutty power and low CG stability. It will roll over but is overall really stable and a lot of fun. I've got a brushed mad van It flies through the air so well at my local hobby shop It shouldn't be that aerodynamic
You really need to do just one video on the semi with the trailer just to show us how it works that could be a video all buy itself also the Chitty Chitty bang bang car that could be a video all by itself regardless if it works or not I would look more detail on it
The mad Van is great and I had a blast with it. They did a good job wit the performance and balance of it, plus it looks really good too! I will try and get a run video of the grand hauler done for you soon. I will have to go out and clean up the garage so I have a decent spot to run it. I made a pretty big mess of it yesterday building the Laser cutter stand! I will most likely have something on the Brum car and the semi truck in a little while as well. Fingers crossed they both will work!

Brum is a UK kids show character. I thought it looked cool as was going to go onto another chassis but it is a odd size and will just stay that way.
