Yeah it is a big one and takes a bit of room to drive it in. I think it was roughly 15 feet by 15 of clear space out there to work with. It is more fun out in a parking lot of larger area like that but in a small space you just have to use a little more imagination!

It is a big guy for sure. I think it is right over 4 1/2 feet long if I remember right. The lights and sounds make it more fun and help out the imagination a little more when playing with it!
Thank you! I really enjoyed building it and took my time on the paint and decals to get them the best I could. I am glad you enjoyed it. I love watching it run around!

Awesome rig and trailer, always wanted one like that, years ago i got my CDL and drove big trucks for the parish.Sence then i always wanted a big rig RC, will have one one day, I hope.....lol
They are super cool and fun to build and drive. They are silly expensive to build up a full truck setup though. It is cool you drove big trucks in real life, closest thing I came to that is driving a commercial Penske box truck! LOL!! Not quite the same! I hope you are able to get one some day, they are really cool.

@@AddamsPlayground Haha I love your reply to our comment mate😁👌, I couldn't clearly remember some of the CB jargon from Smoky and the Bandit so we quickly looked it up😂 I was pretty close lol. Ohhhh imagine a loading dock!!, you're definitely going to need an rc forklift!. I'm sure you'll find room, maybe hanging from the ceiling 🤔😁. Thanks Addam and we wish you and your family all the very for the new year.
It is a big one! Very long when the trailer is attached but it is a fun one to play with. I enjoy trying to back it up into spots even though I am not good at it! You would love building one but they are both expensive and not easy to store!
I would like to do another build with the Globe Liner cab over truck as a old and weathered log truck! I just need to commit to and start buying the stuff to do it. I am glad you are enjoying the channel!
Hi Addam, that is a beauty, and the realistic look and function is amazing. I' with A.C.G I didn't realize how large it is, man does it scoot. I have seen other video's of the Grand Hauler but never seen it move like that. I hope you get the auto legs working again so we can see how it connects and dis-connect. Take care and best wishes to you and the family💯💯💯
Yeah it is a big boy! I think it is close to 5 feet long in total. I should have put in a 80t motor in it, this has a 55t or 65t motor in it and it is still a little fast in 1st gear. It is fast in 2nd gear and too fast in 3rd! Those legs have fought me the last few times out and I cannot figure out what is wrong with them. I think the standard retracts will be much better and way more reliable than the motorized ones. They are cool when they work but a nightmare when they don't! I have to get the steering fixed on the truck first and then the legs! I think the poor little servo was not up to the task of those slow speed turning all the time under that heavy truck!
Thank you! It looks and sounds better in person too, the video just can't do it justice. I'm glad you enjoyed it. Happy new year to you as well! Wishing you all the best!
It does take up some storage space for sure! I have the trailer sitting beside the truck when on the shelf but it still takes up the space of at least 3 cars! You would love building one, it is a lot of fun!
They are wonderful kits to build and a treat to drive. I enjoy trying to back it up into places even though I am quite awful at it! LOL! I am much better in full scale backing a trailer up! I would love to have 4 or 5 more of them but they just cost so much! I do hope to get a globe liner this year though. Take care and happy new year to you guys as well!
Thanks for sharing! This truck is amazing! Really thinking about getting into RC trucks but they are huge and my space is limited 😒But who knows, maybe someday ...
The big trucks are in a league of their own! They are heavy, large and full of details, but also heavy large and cost a good bit of money. The trucks themselves are not too bad but by the time you add up the truck, the radio, the trailer, the lights and sound units it really is painful to look at in a shopping cart! LOL! You can do it a little at a time too, not everything has to be all at once. I am glad you enjoyed it and I hope you do get one!
This thing is the coolest. And I do know how much work goes into these. What a Hauler! That stinks the servo said enough at the end. But Atleast now you have a good reason to tear into her. Happy New Year Addam!!
They are really awesome trucks. The is some time wrapped up into but it is all worth it when it rumbles to life! Yeah, the poor servo has a lot of work to do under that have truck so I will be sticking a much stronger one in there. I am also going to swap out motors to a slower one as it is still a little too fast in low gear, I rarely ever put it in 2nd gear and only have had it in 3rd once and it is way too fast! I have some tinkering to do to get it back in tip top shape but parts are on their way! Happy New Year!!
Never realized how huge and awesome he Grand Hauler is. It would be cool if there was a smoke unit for the large vertical exhaust pipes. Hope you’re able to swap out the steering servo without too much hassle. Thanks for sharing the driving footage! Happy New Year!
I have seen a few with smoke generators in them but they also seem to always have issues with them. There is not a lot of room in the back of the truck with all the other stuff in there so it would be a tight fit! I will get the steering fixed up and get the trailer legs fixed or swapped over soon. It should not be too difficult. I am glad you enjoyed the tootle around garage.
Hi Addam, the Grand Hauler looks awesome! The MFU module really does bring the model to life. I ran my Scania R620 with the trailer in the summer, absolutely love it 😊. So nice to have a little bit of space inside, during the Winter months, give yourself a bit of practice doing those delicate manoeuvres, like the reversing with a trailer, especially into a tight packing space or something. Hope you get the trailer legs resolved, I don’t have the electric operate legs on my R620 and I opted out of the vibration unit, for the space in the cab for the MFU unit. Anyway, nicely enjoyed 😊😊best wishes to you and the family, and a really happy New Year 🎉🥳🎉
The lights and sound do make it a lot cooler. I relocated the speaker to the front end of the truck under the hood so it freed up space in the sleeper for the vibration unit. I only run it when I am showing it off, otherwise I shut it off to keep it from shaking thins apart! I do enjoy driving and attempting to back it up into spots. I am not that great with it but it is a fun challenge. The lift legs are annoying and this is the 3rd or 4th time I have had to mess with them. I am thinking the stock spring loaded legs are the easiest thing to do and get rid of the complexity. There are cool when they work but rarely work right! Take care John, I am glad you enjoyed the bit of running around. I am wishing you all the best for the new year as well!
It is a big boy for sure! Even tucked away on the shelf with the trailer beside the truck it still takes up the space of 3 cars! It is a good looking one so it makes up for it! LOL! Take care Brent and happy new year to you as well!
Love it Addam!!! I really love the American trucks. Who knows if i will have one in the future. Cheers for the running video. Cant wait to be able to run mine............ eventually lol. Happy New Year 😊😊
Thanks Glenn, glad you enjoyed the tootle around the garage! I would love to have a couple more of them but the price is a bit prohibitive to have a bunch of them! I do want to get one of the globe liner trucks. Looking forward to seeing yours once you get some more done on it! Happy New Year to you as well!
Thanks, it is a great looking truck and I enjoy watching it run around. I should make some sort of loading dock for it but I know myself and it would end up being overbuilt and over sized and hard to store so I have not ventured down that road! LOL!
For real! Honestly I am thinking of sticking a slower motor in there. It is still a little too fast in first gear and it take a lot of control to get it moving super slow. I rarely put it in 2nd gear and 3rd gear it way to fast for normal driving. I have seen guys speed run them before but that is not the life for this one! LOL!
@@daig1984 It would work but would be a pain finding room for the ESC. With the MFC in the back and the rumble motor and receiver there is very little room. I could make it work but one of the Fusion all in ones would be better if it would fit.
It is a fun one to just sit back and enjoy looking at it when driving. I still suck at backing into places with it but it is a fun challenge and the time flies when driving it! You get so lost in watching it that 30-45 minutes goes by in a flash!
The truck looks great. I can't even imagine myself tackling a project like that. You did an excellent job! In the UK they have events where builders bring out their grand haulers and run them. I don't know if there are events like that in the U.S.
It is a beautiful truck and it is no different than any other Tamiya build, just a lot more steps!! The only tricky part is the wiring of all the lights but that is just time consuming to keep the wiring tidy, it is fairly easy to follow. I do love seeing the big truck shows. They seem more popular in the UK and other areas of Europe but I know we do have some hear, just none local to me. I am content with driving it around in the shop and trying, poorly, to back it into places.
Thanks Dirk. It took a while to get the lights set up right. I wish the turn signals could be disabled with a switch so they only worked when enabled but at least they are not on all the time. It is still fairly quick even with the 55-65t motor I put into it. I can't remember which I put in but it is slower than it would have been with the stock silver can motor! If I have to take it apart to replace the servo then I am going to replace it with a 80t or 85t motor to slow it down more. This is in 1st gear, I never use 2nd or 3rd gear! it is way to fast in those for running around the garage. @nd is fine for driving in a big parking lot but 3rd is just too fast and silly looking!
That's a Very Nice Grand Hauler Addam 🎉 RCF4L a Purdy Work of Modeling Art 💯 Hopefully someone can Share some information about the lift jacks so you can remedy that issue ✌🤠👍 HFLPRCing 👍😎👍 AOAH 🙏 Stay Safe and Play Healthy Brother 🎉🎊🎉 and Have a Great Week
Thanks Larry, it is a real looker for sure! I think I am just going to ditch the electric legs. I honestly don't connect and disconnect hardly ever when playing with it. It is more fun just trying to back it into places, usually badly! The manual retracts will work fine, I can still back into it and go without touching it, I will just have to put them down myself. Take care and have a great week!
They are fun ones to run around and try and back up into places, or at least try too, I do better in real life than in small scale! I am looking forward to seeing what yours will look like in the end!
Super nice rig. I'm sure you sort the gremlins out one day. A bit of patience and time...then probably more money. Just like a real vehicle just scaled down.
Yeah the powered legs are simple but overly complex at the same time! LOL! I just cannot figure out why they won't work, all the switches seem to be working and actuating at the right times. I think the simple mechanical retract legs will be a better option and reduce the number of electrical and moving parts on it! The servo was just a cheapy and with how much it weighs I think it just gave up! Either that or an extension came loose. I will have to dig into it and find out. It is a very detailed kit and other than the trailer being a bit short it is very scale accurate. It makes it a very rewarding build to see it all done and driving around!
They are really cool trucks. It does add up quickly was the truck, the light and sound unit and the trailer all add up. You can do it cheaper and not have the sounds and use a generic light kit. Everything working together and the sounds do make it a lot cooler though!
I would like to have others but they are expensive. I would love a globe liner to do an optimus prime truck or a king hauler to do the Happy Toys truck from Maximum Overdrive. Snowman's western truck would be awesome and the knight rider one would be too! I would also love to have a globe liner to really go to town on the paint to do an old battered logging truck out of it. but with that all totaled up would be the price of a used car! LOL!
They are not cheap but you do get a lot in the kit vs something like an Avante, there is a lot of metal and hardware in there! It does add up with the MFC light and sounds controller and the trailer kit so a full running truck is not cheap.
This actually very popular here in Malaysia. I seen one guy have sime tree branches and make it look like a logging truck was pretty convincing if you didnt know it was an RC truck.
That is exactly what I want my next one to be, an old beat up logging truck! I have the pretty and fancy big one so I want an older looking one with some age on it to balance it out!
I am glad you enjoyed it! Wish I had a bigger spot to run it in but it is still fun to try and back it into places, poorly usually but still a fun challenge!
LOL! Yes, lots of penalties out there! I would not fair well in those games just for the backing up parts alone! I want to change the motor to an 80t motor to slow it down more and be a bit more controlled. It will still be too fast in 2nd and 3rd gear so no worries about speed if needed. I think the poor servo was not up for it! Finally got tired of turning that heavy truck at low speeds! The lift legs I am done with, I will be replacing them with the much simpler manual ones.
It is ginormous when it is sitting in front of you like that. It is a bit smaller looking on the floor running around! I have it on the shelf with the trailer behind the truck but it still takes up the space of 3 or 4 cars! I do love looking at it though!
Not really my cup of tea Addam, but it does look really cool 😎 I reckon there is a new lap record round the track in that truck... could be the first 5 minute lap if you can get it over that hill 😅
I understand, these are not for everyone. Mostly due to their crazy price tag. If it could make it over the hill it might not be last, this was only in 1st gear, in 3rd gear it moves out a lot faster! I think the hill would certainly be its downfall! LOL!
It already has a scratch on it so it is fine! I scraped the trailer across the fender moving it once and put a small scratch on the top of the rear fender. It is not terrible but it took away the perfect from it so I don't mind driving it! For the Von Dutch do you mean the logo on the grill or the lettering on the back of the sleeper? The logo is the GH with flames on both sides and the back is just the Addam's Playground words I cut on my vinyl cutter. Kind of like the old school custom rigs and dump trucks had on them all the time! I am glad you enjoyed it!
@@AddamsPlayground Bummer but have you ever seen a super clean rig out side of car shows??? Von Dutch is the pin striping.... Well looks like pin striping.... Happy New Year to the Wright's!!!!!!
@@UncleBobsRC Gotcha! Yeah on the front of the trailer it does have some of the cool pin striping. It is one of the kit decals for the back of the sleeper cab. Since I put my name back there I had it left over so I used it on the trailer. Happy New Year to you guys as well! Take care bud.
Something in there is not doing electrical things, the linkage is fine. I am fairly sure it burned out the servo with all the slow speed turning back and forth under that heavy truck. It is possible a servo extension popped loose too, I have not torn it down yet. It is always fun to drive it, glad you enjoyed it!
Hello Addam, I have a Tamiya Ford F350. I did install the MFU in it. This is something like what you have in your Tamiya big Rig. It does everything, it has sound and lights and even has a vibration function. I can even connect an iPod to it and get music. The problem is that it was a real pain to get it set-up and working. I then decided I wanted a big rig truck. I decided to the Tamiya Mercedes 1850l box truck. I did also get the MFU too. I painted my box truck like a LEGO truck. I saw this online, so it was not my idea. I decided just to get a light kit and sold the MFU on eBay. I am glad that I did. Thoughts?
Yeah the light and sounds really make them come alive and give them that extra cool factor. They can be a pain in rear to get set up properly and work as you want it to. In my next one I will be using the Beier light and sound controller and it does seem a little intimidating Bob at Hobby Concepts has great tutorials on setting them up and programming them to do everything you could want with them. The Tamiya units are nice but you are limited to what they can do and are very over priced, very!
Thanks Jeremy! It is a good looking truck and I love watching it run around. I still suck at backing it up but it is still a fun challenge! I am pretty sure the servo either gave up or one of the extension came unplugged. I have not looked yet. I meant to yesterday but I had a really unmotivated and lazy day yesterday. It was a movies and puzzles kind of day so nothing got done! I needed it! I will tear into it and get it going again. I am pretty confident the cheap servo just went out, it is a very heavy truck and all that turning back and forth at slow speed was probably too much for it!
Hey mate what radio gear do you use? Im running the flysky Fs is havent done my trailer lights yet gotta get the receiver and lights im going to keep the legs manual ahhh the horn makes me smile every time! Had an idea i reakon you could find small vape units that would fit in the metal stacks for smoke or one that looks like a gas cylinder behind the cab you have a great new year 🎉
I have the Radiolink FS-i6 radio an two receivers bound to it. It was a little finicky to get both bound, it took a couple tries but Bob over at Hobby Concepts has a full video on it that got me trough it. Then I just have a cheap light controller hooked to the trailer to do the light on it. I have seen some with smoke generators in them. Maybe look at the ones for the Henglong tanks as those should be fairly cheap and seem to work well on my tanks. I was not trying to cram anything else into the back of it! I am not a huge fan of wiring so once i got everything else hooked up I was done! LOL!
@@AddamsPlayground o yeah I've got the smoke kit going on mine I bought a more expensive unit that I still had trouble with it had its own esc to work with acceleration that blew after two minutes 🫣I wish I didn't start but had to finish after that! I just thought if you could get ones that fit into the stacks as stand alone units would be cool I'll be doing the same as you for my trailer with my flysky couldn't do it without bobs videos! RC truck legend! I backlit the dashboard which looks great put a dog in the cab with the driver as all truckies in Australia 🦘 have one 😂. Have you seen the crossrc t-rex 🦖? Freaking amazing! Really happy for your channel doing great 👍 you deserve it buddy.
@@blitzrc4713 I do like the looks of the big Cross trucks, they are great looking kits but just too big and expensive to get into them. I am already struggling with space issues! Those are not going to help at all! I would really love to have the Cross Mammoth but it is the ultimate in price and size! LOL!
If anything I would like to put in a slower motor. An 80t motor would be better in this for the slow movements of backup and and driving away from things. I have a 55t in there now and it is still a little jumpy in first gear at times. In second and third it really goes pretty quick! I have only used 3rd gear once in a parking lot and it was way too fast for it, scale speed it was probably doing 120mph! LOL! Maybe if I have to replace the servo I will pop in a much slower motor, those are cheap enough!
Looks wise... A+ It's as good as a model can get. But when driving it, it looks the most realistic at the slowest speeds. I guess they scale best at low speeds. And this truck is an A+... it's a minor complaint... but since it's so close to being perfect.... one little thing I wish people could fix... and I'm sure people could with a little tweak.... Is alter the driving so there's more creep in the gas, so to speak. That is, so it's not so jerky from a standstill to motion. All models tend to go from stationary... and there's this out-of-scale jerky movement.... as they begin moving. If that can be geared differently, so the whole truck is tuned down to run more slowly... and not have instant movement.... but rather slowly glide into speed..... it would look truly 100% perfect. It's 99% now tho.
It is a terrific looking truck. I am putting an 80t motor into it soon to slow it down some more. It has a 55 or 65t in there now and it is still too fast in first gear. I can't imagine what it would have been like on the stock 27t one they give you. They are wonderful kits to assemble and such a fun one to drive!
@@AddamsPlayground Sounds great. And btw.... you may as well also address.... These scale models all look so perfect.... so one last thing to really nail down the realism.... The wheels need to turn more slowly when performing sharp turns at slow speeds. For instance... have the car stationary. Then turn the wheels on the remote. That right there. No real truck can flick left or right like that so quickly. Because one thing that's hard to scale is the weight in real life pressing down on the wheels of any car or truck. But on scale models. At a standstill... you can just flick the wheels hard left or right with ease. And it kills the realism. Nobody would do this routinely, of course. But it still looks 'off' when driving these things and making certain turns. Sometimes the wheels look like there's no weight of a 10,000 or 20,000 lb truck pressing down on them... because obviously... there isn't 10,000 or 20,000 lbs... there's like 10 lbs. Maybe. These are all super minor issues. The main take-away is the truck is kick ass!
That's incredible,,awesome RC to have

Ohhhh imagine a loading dock!!, you're definitely going to need an rc forklift!. I'm sure you'll find room, maybe hanging from the ceiling 🤔😁.
Thanks Addam and we wish you and your family all the very for the new year.
It's really big! Great truck I have no trucks...... Ciao!
It is a big one! Very long when the trailer is attached but it is a fun one to play with. I enjoy trying to back it up into spots even though I am not good at it! You would love building one but they are both expensive and not easy to store!
Man I would like to see this in log truck form, well then I would have to buy it. Awesome channel thanks for all the videos.
I would like to do another build with the Globe Liner cab over truck as a old and weathered log truck! I just need to commit to and start buying the stuff to do it. I am glad you are enjoying the channel!
Excellent Addam 😎, They are fun the drive, good to see you using it 😀👍👍👍
Thanks! I am glad you enjoyed it. Not the top notch pain quality as one of yours but I am proud of this one! That blue looks fantastic!
It looks Awesome Addam Wonderful color😎👍👍👍
Those trucks are awesome!
They really are cool. The lights and sounds with them kind of take your little kid imagination and bring it to life!
Looks really cool Addam!👍😃
Thanks! It is kind of a small place to run it but I do enjoy watching it work and trying to back into places. I still suck at it but it is fun trying!
Great looking truck, Addam. Have a Happy New Year.
Thank you! It looks and sounds better in person too, the video just can't do it justice. I'm glad you enjoyed it. Happy new year to you as well! Wishing you all the best!
Thats mega cool 😎 as much as i would love one, that would fill up one shelf 😂 but who knows. One day 🤔
It does take up some storage space for sure! I have the trailer sitting beside the truck when on the shelf but it still takes up the space of at least 3 cars! You would love building one, it is a lot of fun!
@@AddamsPlayground yeah, its the building part i love the most, driving is more a bonus. But painting and stickers, that i hate 😂
Love it! Looks great and lots of fun around the garage. I’ll have to add this to a 2025 or 2026 list. Happy New Year.
That is a massive machine really cool Addam happy new year
It is a big boy for sure!
Super cool . You did a great job on it
Thanks, it is a great looking truck and I enjoy watching it run around. I should make some sort of loading dock for it but I know myself and it would end up being overbuilt and over sized and hard to store so I have not ventured down that road! LOL!
You going Brushless with it just kidding 😂😂 trailer probably fly off
LOL!
Hobbywing axe would work really well, excellent low speed control and loads of torque
@@daig1984 It would work but would be a pain finding room for the ESC. With the MFC in the back and the rumble motor and receiver there is very little room. I could make it work but one of the Fusion all in ones would be better if it would fit.
Looks awesome 👍
Thanks! I love watching it drive around!
how cool is that mate 👍awesomeness
Great truck and trailer. But for me the most impressive thing's your indicator setup. And I have to say the truck can speed up a lot
@@AddamsPlayground the work never stops😁. Happy new year my friend🎆🎆🎆.
That's a Very Nice Grand Hauler Addam 🎉 RCF4L a Purdy Work of Modeling Art 💯 Hopefully someone can Share some information about the lift jacks so you can remedy that issue
✌🤠👍 HFLPRCing 👍😎👍 AOAH 🙏 Stay Safe and Play Healthy Brother 🎉🎊🎉 and Have a Great Week
Cool 😎 video I can't wait until I get my done from the rc elf doing another one off buld
It makes it a very rewarding build to see it all done and driving around!
very unique rc, not AS expensive as i thought either. I googled it expecting it to be 1000$ +.
They are really cool trucks. It does add up quickly was the truck, the light and sound unit and the trailer all add up. You can do it cheaper and not have the sounds and use a generic light kit. Everything working together and the sounds do make it a lot cooler though!
Someday I’ll be cool and have a grand hauler, and it’d either be the snowman’s rig or tge knight rider semi
LOL!
I would love to have one of those. But the price is Crazy.
Sick 👍👍
I am glad you enjoyed it! Wish I had a bigger spot to run it in but it is still fun to try and back it into places, poorly usually but still a fun challenge!
PENALTY! 😂😂 Looks terrific, too bad about the servo / legs
First...and I LOVE IT !
Congrats! I am glad you liked it! It is a small space for a big truck but I have fun with it down there!
That thing is beautiful especially with the trailer what’s the length of the entire truck with the trailer it looks huge on the table
LOL!
Dude, I would be afraid to drive that thing.... Do I see a little Von Dutch on the rig?? Awesome run Addam!!!
Good run, up until the steering issue. Hopefully it's just a linkage problem.
@@AddamsPlayground They are nice, but as you said they are way over priced. Thoughts?
Nice run Addam, the truck looks beautiful!👍😊
Was it indeed the servo that crapped out?
LOL!
It doesn't matter how fast it goes if you're not having fun you're doing it wrong
It's as good as a model can get.
