We were there. My husband is the one in the audience that he has the motorcycle interaction with. It was super funny! I guess I can say I've met Richard Gere!

My dopey husband yelled out something like "You crashed like a man! You're the man" ! I thought we were gonna get thrown out! But Richard Gere went with it and everyone thought it was hilarious. It was a very good time.

He rode a Triumph Bonneville in a movie, so he has to be a bike fan when you ride the most fun on 2 wheels. I rode one for a week in the 80s and was sold.

Ya, but Richard does not enjoy these kind of things and it really shows. Interacting with the audience was a way to kill some time and avoid being asked questions he does not want to answer.

Late 60's in Vermont, the Triumph 650 Bonneville was THE cool bike to own.
"The Dinner" is based on a Dutch book "Het Diner" by Herman Koch. The book is fantastic and I'm excited to see how they turned it into a movie!
I think he obviously means Coventry triumph factory! Great story though. And of course a t140 in officer & a gentleman.

A 'bike is a bike is a bike'...'big & loud' don't mean shit if you need a 'pit-crew' behind you to make sure your'Bonny' will start...and don't forget the 'oiler-boys' either!
I need this explained to me. I've driven a 125cc and then 250cc scooter, but I have a deep love for motorcycles in general.
250cc is an especially good size in my opinion. With a top speed exceeding 80 mph, they have have enough power for touring while still getting about 60 to 70 miles to the gallon. I've fit two weeks of camping supplies and equipment on mine. And it's comfortable enough to ride all day. That to me means freedom.
It was just Gere pretending to be a 'bad-ass'...whatever the hell that's supposed to be. He's ridden a 'Bonneville' frequently in movies...and yes, it's an Iconic machine...a two-wheeled 'work ofEnglish Art' in form and function.That said...it doesn't take away from everything else! (I love the BMW R-65 myself...those horizontal cylinders are just 'too cool for school' in my book and the bike itself is almost indestructible!) The same thing is true of Honda...properly cared-for, a Honda bike will last a lifetime. Nothing wrong w/Yamaha or Suzuki either...they build some damn fine machines! I agree...a 250 to 350cc is a perfect blend of performance and 'use-ability' without weighing like a baby hippo!
