I keep trying to watch other model related channels and yours is the only one I can watch, something about your videos just blows the rest away, please keep up the good work 👏 🙌 👍 👌
Stig Svanberg,Sollefteå,Sweden: Very interesting watching you weathering. It's like piece of art. For time being I'm building the "Shell Welder",an original Frog model from 1964,that I'm painting rust on.
I am so glad that Round 2 brought this kit back, but I would love it if it was released as a full kit with a 500 ci Cadillac engine. Maybe as a low rider. Now, wouldn’t be really cool.
Because of work and family obligations I have fallen behind on your videos. I woke up very early this morning and have been having an hpiguy marathon! Talk about getting my model building juices flowing!
With your paint scheme... I first think... "Charlie don't surf." From Apocalypse Now. Huey pilot came home from Vietnam bought a used ambulance and found his Zen on the waves. Great build as always!
Ah, I knew it couldn't be a coincidence that this model just so happened to be a 59 ;) You might have sold me on this one. It's on shelves at Walmart right now and it caught my eye, but the box photography and paint job did not give a good impression. Now your rust, that's what the box should have looked like!
In the July, 1994 edition of Car Modeler Magazine, there was an article by Larry Gabor called, "Pickup With A Purpose" which showed how to construct a phantom Cadillac shop pickup truck using the Ecto 1A kit. It was VERY easy to modify this Cadillac kit, because the article contains the necessary templates. Now that the former Ecto 1-A has been re-released, I plan to build another one !
Hey, I’m number 666 as far as Likes. Love these funky builds. Back in the early 1990s my old punk band had a mid-60s Oldsmobile hearse that we bought for $550. It was19 feet long and a really comfortable ride and we'd take turns sleeping in the back. We never had problems with storing gear and it always wreaked of pot, dirty laundry and formaldehyde.
I haven't done a model in over 30 years. I searched level 2 models and the 59' surf Caddy came up and I knew it was meant to be. I then stumbled upon your channel (subscribed) and can only hope mine turns out half as good as yours good sir. I also ordered the Rust colored Oilbrusher after watching this. You gained a new subscriber and fan today!
What a great video for those less experienced modelers to what. To see its doesn't have to be difficult to weather up a vehicle....Good way to start off the new year.
a GOTTA HAVE, i built the ecto into a cool cruiser a few years ago, saw this was coming out, roof holes easy to fix on this one and no holes on side of the body for the ecto plasma machine, great looking patina on that, i gotta do a couple more
That's a beautiful buildup of a very nice kit! It's interesting to see a Car Modeler using weathering techniques more associated with Armor Modelers. Not every model car needs to shine like it was just washed and waxed for a car show to look good! As always, thanks for posting your review!
I got one last week and I'm planning on making a hearse even though I was told this wasnt a hearse it was strictly a ambulance cause a hearse didn't have the last two windows it had metal there with the s handle thing
I'm planning on filling in the back side glass and the corner glass at the rear to turn this into a hearse. I was working on one years ago that my kid knocked off the table and shattered. Great build as always.
Chris, I cannot say it strongly enough that you do a great job with your videos. You have many fans who love what you do, including me. Please give us some T-shirts to wear with pride, and some stickers for our model stuff. I know I’ve got a space on my model toolbox waiting for an “hpiguys” sticker.
Weird, someone should tell these vets they were wrong then... www.aircorpsart.com/blog/the-good-the-bad-the-ugly-aircraft-mouth-nose-art/ Thanks for the nice words!
2022 and another great kit. This is going to be a fun year in model making. Thinking of making a full Ambulance of my kit. We'll see. Happy New 22.👍👍👍👍👍
hello hello! LOVE this build. I had to buy the kit after watching the video. For the rusting that you did with Oilbrusher, I'm guessing it is the "Rust" Oilbrusher? Also what brush/sponge tool were you using to swipe it down? Thank you!
Happy new year Chris!! I used to be an anti-curbside kit snob. Your channel changed my views of them. One of my favorite builds I’ve done is the AMT snap General Lee. With a little work, it builds into a better kit then the past glue kits. I’m seriously considering this kit as well. I like that it has straight up Ambulance options.
Hi Chris, firstly I wish you a Happy New Year, hope all goes well for you, that was a fantastic build of the ambulanc, nice to see it put to a good use, will you ever build the same kit as a actual ambulance? It reminds me of the very old TV series Dr Kildaire, take care and keep safe.
Ok. So now Im going to have to get some oil brusher oils. What an easy outstanding effect. PS: Thanks for putting in so much work just filming and editing . I have tried and it is a superhuman amount of extra work for which we are all so very greatfull.
Was on the fence with this version but now might be a future pick up. interesting how they went with Ecto1-A's rear bumper with the custom diamond plating. I'd leave off the roof lights they look too much like hood scoops haven't seen lights that quite look like them before. Other than that good work as always.
Great model to start out the new year! Utilizing all your talents and producing a great fun to build model. As always looking forward to your next build. Keep up the great work. Happy New Year 🎊 and THANKS.
Happy New Year Chris. What a way to start off the new year by building a Surfer Wagon ! I love how you rusted and crudded it up. I've been wanting to try some rusting effects on some of my models myself. Never done them before. Looking to get my hands on this kit very soon ! Once again, Happy New Year !
Happy new year Chris,I think you need to edit the hpiguy's workshop at the end of each video you do;so it says hpiguy's workshop 2022,instead of hpiguy's workshop 2021.
@@hpiguy That's right;you film several days to atleast a week, prior to posting each video;because of the amount of editing,it takes a few days to edit each video. Thanks, very nice of you!
There's lots of channels and everyone can find their niche, it's great!
I have the same reaction to the other channels. They keep repeating the same senseless things over and over.

100% kudos on this Caddy build Chris! Outstanding choices of paint and weathering. Love it!

Even better... The hearse. Instead of the ambulance. With doors that open... And the coffin.
Once again I’m interested in a kit search for it on RUclips and boom there’s your channel with a build of the kit.
👍🏻🔥🤘🏻
enjoy watching your builds. I like seeing what other ways builders put their kits together.
Thanks, much appreciated!

Welcome back!
This is something I would build different variations of. The possibilities are endless! Great job Chris
Thanks!

Could be! Always fun to add a story to it!
@@hpiguy you gave me the idea to add a story while I build. Adds to the fun.

LOL, I remember the scalp spray paint, yes.
THIS IS OUTSTANDING!!!
Nice job as always Chris. It reminds me of the old Johan Cadillac Hearse surf wagon model from many years ago.
Thank you very much!
That's basically the ecto-1 from Ghostbusters, same type of car
Happy New year to you my friend...
Happy new year!
Excited for this kit! I think I will build it to look like it did in Ghost Busters when Ray first bought it.
Only $4800!
If you don’t mind me asking, where do you get most of your paint at? Like those Valspar short cans. I’m just wanting more variety.
Love the Miller Meteor ☠

Other than the Testors silver, what .if any Testors colors do you use regularly ?
Brass, copper, steel, titanium, browns, reds, etc. Anything I need to, I have quite a few.

What is good way to straighten a model car body with a little bit of a twist
Soak in hot tap water, keep bending it back into place, dip in very cold water and hold.
Repeat over and over and it may come out.
merry new year !!!!! to all
You too!
Still 2021 in the final watermark 😉 happy new year 😊
Yes, because the video and others yet to air were produced in 2021.
