The video is so much better than folded paper instructions. Thank you for the excellent video presentation !
You're welcome Tommy. Glad it helped.
Dude got two watches you know he ballin
had to go back in the video......worth it
Thank you for describing how to use the remote control!!!
Thank you Rodrigo.
Best review ever thanks man!
you’re welcome Brandon appreciate it
Thanks for this video. Do you know if its possible to turn this into dusk-to-dawn setting? I have two similar string lights that I bought from Costco (same brand without remote) and those operate without a remote. So, I would like to change these into dusk-to-dawn so that they turn on without remote.
these are powered by the solar panel that has an on off switch. we leave it on and control the lights with the remote. there is no other setting.
@@Appmyhome so if you lose the remote they will no longer turn on?
They look so bright in your video. But dim in others?
I suspect it depends on the camera used to take the pictures. these are fairly bright but not so much as to spoil the mood in the area.
Is the only way to add another is by buying another with the solar panel?
I bought mine at my local Costco
And want to add more but don't know if you can extend them by just buying more lights or buying a whole new set
I hear ya. from what we have installed it looks like a closed system and you can’t add on. you would just have to buy another box and install separately.
@@Appmyhome Thank You!
Great video. I tried the remote and it doesn't work. Do you have to do something with it first to get it to work?
check and make sure the remote batteries are seated and no paper blocking the terminals. also make sure the solar panel is on.
Hi! Do you know how to resync the remote for this string lights? My remote no longer able to turn off/on the lights. I contacted sunforce and the instructions they provided are not working. Thanks!
we haven’t tried to resync. and I’m not sure I recall instructions on how to do so.
I also have the same syncing problem. After the winter, the remote no longer turned on the lights.
I just checked our remote and it still works. I wonder what the battery life is on the remote?
I purchased these lights for my patio and my neighbor has the same lights. He turns them on at 3am and my lights turn on as well. Is there a way I can change my remote frequency so I do not have to return them?
I have multiple string lights with remote and one remote operates them all. Unfortunately, I am having trouble syncing them, because one of the strings (which also is on remote), comes on at dusk. I am unsure why. This causes a toggle between my various light strings, some on and some off.
seems to be just one remote button. so doubt you can change the frequency.
Just get a wifi outlet and control them that way..
@@thedbcooperforum note this message is in caps (THEY ARE SOLAR POWERED) it's not possible to plug them in to be controlled by a wifi switch.
Both my sets were working great but when I switched the panel off one set then on again, the remote no longer worked for that set. Batteries are fine of course. Have you seen this problem?
We only have one set and we have not seen any issues.
I have the remote kind and my remote stopped working also. It's a terrible design. I've done lots of research and this is a known problem. Sunforce support sent me these steps to get the remote working. Did not work for me but might for you!
Place the solar panel in the OFF position
Remove batteries from the solar panel.
Wait 30 seconds
Put batteries back in solar panel
Put the panel in the ON position, the bulbs should turn on.
Hold down the remote button for 5 seconds as close as possible to the solar panel.
You should be able to turn the string lights OFF/ON with the remote.
@@erindunne6165 Their resynching instructions are suspect. I just tried it on my light sets and it did not work. Seems like a lot of people are having this problem with remote not working.
Same problem here. The only solution is to never turn them off.
Instructions mentions you must charge for three days with no lights connected or with the solar panel in the OFF positions. After the third day, your included batteries will be fully charged. Now I found this quite confusing re the ON/OFF switch the way it was worded. Maybe in the ON position? Would love to know what others think.
I don't recall doing the full charge before installing. Though if you do, I would leave it off. We basically have had this installed with the solar pane and it seems to be fine.
I also had to read that sentence multiple times. Basically they are saying when you first charge it, don't have it turned on with the lights connected. But ignored that and they still work great.
I was also confused, I was they would be ready by tomorrow, but I guess I can wait until Saturday…
Sorry, does anyone know where to buy replacement bulbs?
How much line is there between the solar panel and the first bulb? (including the connection between solar panel line and light string line)
The solar panel comes with a lot of wire. So much so I wrapped it around the arbor to keep it neat. Measuring at this point would be difficult.
That's exactly what i wanted to know as well!
I got these but my remote won’t turn off my lights but the lights do work if I go up to the solar panel and turn them off or on but for some reason the remote isn’t connecting with the panel? Know how to fix this
Hi Jordan, ours just worked. Unfortunately I don't know how to pair the remote, if that's even possible. You might try replacing the batteries.
Look at the switch on the backside of the solar panel. I believe the remote only works if the switch is set to "ON." If it is set to "AUTO," the lights come on at dusk and turn off about 6 hours later.
So there is no option for auto on/off ( dusk / dawn ) ?
I don’t see that. just the remote.
Does the solar panel needs to be on off or auto?
if I recall it was on or off. we leave ours on. then control via the remote.
Hi. Do we have to link the remote control ?
Thanks,
we didn’t it just worked.
I purchased a set of these from Costco they don't seem to be coming on by themselves at dusk
We always use the remote to turn them on. I can't recall if they come on automatically at dusk. Will have to check on that.
Will they work if remote control busts.
you know that is a good question. I don't recall an ability to turn them on without it.
I installed two string lights, only one remote is working, turns ON only one string light at a time. Any solution to turn both string lights ON together and OFF?
We only have one set so can’t test this. I think the control is on the solar panel, are they close together so they “see” the command from the remote at the same time?
Oh interesting.. I got 2 sets too but both remote can turn all ON or OFF😅
I have the same issue! Does anyone else have the solution to this problem?
As long as they're close to each other one remote will activate them. Keep pressing the button it will turn on.
Turn one of them OFF with the switch in the back of the panel and press the remote to change the status of the 2nd. Then turn the first back on.
What happened if the remote get broken o loose?
you know it’s a good question. we haven’t tried that.
Do you have to remove a tab to make the remote work?
do you mean pull out the plastic tab they covers the battery terminal? yes.
What happens if you lose the remote?
I believe per their instructions that turning on the solar panel (from off) should turn on the lights. then you turn them off with the remote. therefore you should be able to control the lights from the solar panel. they say in the directions that once you turn on the solar panel the lights illuminate and that the remote is used to turn them off. the instructions also tell you where to contact them for missing parts.
how long can the lights stay on with solar charging
we didn't test how long, but in use they lasted several hours, ie from sunset to late night. Can't say if they'd last till dawn.
Can anyone tell me how to get the remote open to change the battery? I know it has to be easy, duh
if you look on the back there is a diagram on how to do this. Basically you have to push the 3 plastic ridges while also pulling open the device where there is a fingernail spot to pull from. And yes its a real pain to coordinate doing this.
thank you, I have tried that and not successful, I will keep trying.
its not you, it is just really hard to do it. be sure to push from the end of those 3 fins and then at the same time try to pull out the battery, it should come out easy if the fins are pushed enough. it might help to use a flat head screwdriver to push on those 3 fins, though be careful it doesn't slip. it is just releasing the battery compartment from the main case.
I bought also in Costco bu it’s not working 😔
our Costco has plenty in stock. have you gone and exchanged them>?
My remote stopped working after one month. I see the red light on the remote when I click it but it won't turn on/off my lights. I now need to flip the switch behind the solar panel. Disappointed.
are you saying if you flip the switch on and off it then works?
@@Appmyhome The lights work but the remote is dead. I need to manually turn on the light each evening using the on/off located behind the solar panel. I've been reading that others are having the same issue with the remote not working. Their support gave me a procedure to reset the solar panel but the remote still does not work.
Man i just bought these and set them up and they are not bright as i thought they would be. Maybe they need to charge more. They don’t look half as bright compared to your video.
It's hard to judge the actual brightness of the lights on a video. They won't be like using 60 watt bulbs, but for a night setting they show good enough for our use. I can't imagine charging them more will make a difference in brightness.
Instructions mention to charge for three days before turning on.
I installed mine and charged for a week, won't turn on, anyone else experience this?
Hi Kenny, I think there is an on/off switch on the solar panel. It's hard to find.
@@Appmyhome are you referring to the on/off/auto switch in the back? I charged in with the switch on OFF for about a week
Hi Kenny, yes, that switch. BTW, if you are having issues, why not just return them and get a replacement. We really like ours and they work great still.
@@Appmyhome I did, this is my second one from Costco…, same issues, I’m also reaching out to their customer service
bummer
Remotes do not last more that 5 months. SUNFORCE will not answer their Email messages. DO NOT BUY. Go see comments on the COSTCO site people are not happy.
hi Claude, so far our remote is working fine. plus if they bought on Costco they have a generous return policy.
Mine stopped working too. Going to try to return to Costco as less than a year.
SUNFORCE did respond to my Email message ad are sending new units to me.
awesome. let us know how the new ones work.
