    After living in England for nearly 20 years i have now returned to my hometown Penang. When i was there i remember an English chap who asked me where did i come from. When i replied it was Penang, he looked astonished and puzzled. 'Are you mad to come to live in England?' He asked me. I found out later that he was a frequent traveler to Penang. I am grateful to have studied and worked in England. Watching your video made me appreciate my hometown even more.

    I definitely feel Malaysia has some great strong points that wins it for us over the UK. We loved our lives in the UK and definitely miss all our friends and family, but Malaysia is such a beautiful place with beautiful people who made it feel like home to us almost straight away! We are so glad we have moved as well. We love the apartment, it looks amazing! ♥

As for the bum gun, that alone is proof that the west is not perfect. Compared to Canada, life in Malaysia is less hectic and full of amazing foods. That hose in the toilet is called the "bum gun" a.k.a. bidet hose for washing after using the toilets. Asians esp Muslims and Indians, among others, tend not to use toilet paper but water instead. Some use both paper and water for a more hygienic result. Think about it; if you find some dirty droppings on the floor, which is better : just wiping it or, washing/hosing it down with water? I read that this bidet hose and a somewhat high-tech variation using toilet seat/bidet combo (like in Japan) is becoming increasingly popular in the West.

    Why not use Malaysia (Penang or Kuala Lumpur) as a HUB. Malaysia is literally center of Asia. With affordable accomodation, cheap flight in/out of Malaysia (at least among Asia or South East Asia), and Malaysia itself is a Family Friendly Country, I think it is a good option. As a UK Citizen, i believe you guys have 90 days Visa free entering Malaysia. Once it almost expired, you can go travel to other country for a month and coming back home to Malaysia.
    One question though, why pick Malaysia as your first destination? Have you come to Malaysia before?

    • @byteme9718
      @byteme9718 Год назад

      Stupid suggestion! You'll get away with it for a few times and then try getting back in and will be refused. Many have tried this and found themselves unable to pick up items they've accumulated and left there expecting to get back. You used to be able to slip money into the passport to get stamped in but not since everything became digital.

    • @wan7696
      @wan7696 Год назад

      @@byteme9718 have you ever heard DeRantau Visa??? Many have done it. Food Ranger, Passport Visionz and many other base in Malaysia while traveling around Asia. They dont have any problem coming in and out of Malaysia as long as they have genuine purpose and legal.

    • @byteme9718
      @byteme9718 Год назад

      @@wan7696 I have and know exactly what it is. They're not easy to get, require you to have a significant provable overseas income of around RM 110,000 and the application would be another RM 3000 on top for their family. Only the husband or wife is eligible for a digital nomad visa meaning to avoid breaking its terms one person would be responsible for shooting, editing and posting content. The partner must do nothing in the process, cannot do any work in Malaysia and must be dependents.
      Digital nomad visas are time restricted, sometimes for as little as 90 days, the same length of time as a tourist visa but allow limited work. Then you have to reapply, prove you still have that same annual income and pay another RM 3000. At best you'll get 12 months plus 12 months and after that the financial requirements start to get very expensive.
      Passport Vizions are a pair of clowns and there's no way they have digital nomad visas. This is why they keep making overseas trips to abuse their tourist visa and they will get caught out. They even have a video where they show their naivety where they assume they're just going to apply and become citizens. They're a very stupid couple and when their money runs out they'l be going back to the US, the country they slag off at every opportunity.
      What Food Ranger does is allowed and what the visa is intended for and if he were to stay for more than two years and settle other visas would be available and better. He has over 5,000,000 subscribers and a production team to make the videos look as good as they are, that's his income. A family taking holiday videos with less than 15,000, will never generate income because few people are interested and there are so many others doing it. They're a really nice family and I wish them well but the digital nomad visa won't fulfill what they say they want to do. The clue is is the name "nomad".
      If they're sensible, have savings and a house to rent in the UK they, and the kids in particular, will benefit enormously for a year or so but I doubt the rental would satisfy the income requirement for the visa unless it was a big house in a nice area. Then of course they'd be paying maintenance, management fees, insurances, UK taxes and would be foolish not to pay National Insurance.
      Malaysian immigration can be very unpleasant and often cause problems because that's what Malays with a little bit of power do. Even if you're doing everything right they can still give you a hard time and as I've indicated, the digital nomad visa is very restrictive and probably the last you'd want if you have a family. That said, I very much doubt they have one so will rely on how many times they can work the tourist visa which in itself is expensive as the whole family will have to fly return, pay for accommodation for some time while hoping they'll be let back in. That's assuming they have some permanent base here with the bulk of their belongings. Living out of a suitcase is no fun and border hops into Singapore on the bus coming back the same day soon get picked up.

    In Malaysia, the hose initially was meant for Muslim tenants to wash their private parts (after taking a piss or dump) with water before their prayers. Wiping with toilet paper is not considered clean enough. Go to any toilet in any shopping complex, not many provided toilet paper but almost all have hoses. Of course hotels even have bidets for this purpose.

    Please, drink much plain water and keep hydrate esp the kids. Its very hot nowadays, since El Nino phenomenon still around the corner until August or perhaps until end this year. Even locals like us felt very hard to bear with it. 😂 Anyway, its good to watch your vlogs, and although wasnt much video yet, the video shooting and video editing quality is at very good level. Keep it up!

      it's different if you do actually live in london and work in london. Malaysian who has lived and worked in London for 10 years now and wishing to return. London has deteriorated so much in recent years and becoming more and more difficult to live. Crime is increasing and cost of living as well. Yes you get more options with theatre and shopping here but that;s about it really

    The infrastructure we currently have has lowered barriers between people. We can observe that a large number of Asians currently reside in the UK, whereas a sizable number of Europeans also reside in Asia, particularly Southeast Asia. We hope you and your family will feel more at home in Malaysia as you grow acquainted to the country's climate, cuisine, and culture once you've adjusted to this place. However, once you start connecting with locals and expats who can share their experiences with you, things get less challenging because you can obtain anything you need here. Imagine the difficulties the British faced when they came in Malaya a century ago in order to serve their country. These days, we don't need to compare the amenities to those at home and in other countries because they are all already available, making it relatively simple for us to adjust wherever we go. I hope your extended stay in Malaysia is enjoyable.

    The hose you have there in your toilets are called Bidet. These are to clean 'yourself' after you've done your business. This is common in asia countries (particularly islamic countries), we are more conscious of hygiene..the toilet rolls are used to dry yourself..that's doubled the self-cleanse. Hope europeans can learn something from this side of the world. Welcome to Malaysia !
