    Hey there Gus and Woody, I’m a recreational diver from Istanbul hoping to become a tec diver one day 🎉 Still really far from the correct pronunciation, but I have to say that Gus you sounded way better! 😂 This is a cave in Hatay, southern of Turkey, the entrance is in around 25 meters. It’s in mediterranean sea that’s why it’s warm. Also, it was explored in 2017 with lots of other underwater caves nearby. I have never been there for diving so I don’t want to say something wrong about it but I mostly heard that it is a really popular spot for all of the recreational diving centers around the area and they are doing even discovery dives in the caves with totally inexperienced people! Total madness. Sadly, although having great cave diving professionals in Turkey that could teach people cave diving, in recreational diving centers these kind of acts are really common. I hope you guys go there someday and make videos about those caves as well 🥳

      (Not a diver at all) After watching every single of one their videos, I wouldn’t even get in the water on a single tank. What’s the point? Look around for 10 minutes and instantly have to go. Or accidentally run out of air. No thanks!

    • @Layston
      @Layston Месяц назад

      @@cadenkeider3484 If you become an Open Water Diver, you are allowed to dive up to 18 meters or 60 feet. A normal dive at those depths lasts for around 45 minutes to one hour and in the course they teach you how to plan your dives so you have plenty of air to go back to the surface. Plus, you are told to dive with buddies so in the rare case that you run out of air they can share some of their air with you.

    Hey Gus and Woody,
    I was at Fathom Five National Marine Park today, and it is absolutely STUNNING! Unfortunately, I'm not a diver, and since it's a National Marine Park, most of the most stunning bits are underwater, however I had a few glimpse of it through the partial glass hull of our cruise ship. There are multiple shipwrecks from 1800s that can be dived(21 ships in the park total). I think it would be awesome to see you guys dive it. It's a freshwater lake with the deepest point at over 500ft deep.
    (P.S. There is this section near the Flowerpot Islands, which is the only part of the park you can walk on foot, there is this section know as the "reverse Niagara falls" because the deep currents are all pushed upwards due to the shape of the slope.)

    Dive talk! I have been extremely interested in diving and want to get certified, although I do suffer from mild asthma. It is a very unpredictable condition as you can do all the right things and still be blindsided by symptoms. Obviously this is not something you’d want to happen on a dive. Maybe in the future if you guys could ever touch on the risks of medical conditions and diving it could help a lot of people with overcoming their fears! And also you guys are the best and have really done so much to introduce diving to the general public.

    • @freddupont9605
      @freddupont9605 19 дней назад +1

      You're "lucky" if you can dive while having asthma so you should stay far away from any kind of technical diving unless you can directly ascent and surface, no deco, no cave. Words from an IANTD instructor who's both MD and PhD. In most countries asthma is an absolute contraindication to diving and no MD would provide you with a medical certificate allowing you to dive...Take care.

    I have been to Turkey but didn’t get a chance to to dive there. If it is where I think, it is an island near Istanbul and if this is the summer air temp gets up to mid 35c at 8am so the water is lovely and warm. The other place I was thinking is down south where the resorts are, kind of like the Mayan Riviera in the Yucatan, beautiful blue water and warm temps. 🤔. Glad I found you guys you are so funny! I live in Vancouver and don’t dive locally anymore, too old for the cold water and the best time to dive is Dec-Mar so air temp 8-10c…no thank you 😂. I am going in two weeks down to Puerto Morelos in Mexico to go do a week of diving in the Warmth! I used this company twice last year and had a boat captain and dive master to myself and they spoiled me, the gear was amazing too so I’m just going back to them again. It’s funny cause I was thinking I should look for another company and maybe try different dive spots than the ones I’ve done but I watch a video a few days ago and Woody made a comment about what’s the hurry, he could stare a one small spot for ages as there is so much life and if you go back you always see something different and i so agree I could just hover and look at a small spot for ages and watch the fish so I decided why change what was an amazing two trips, so thanks for those words Woody, I valued what you said.

    Can you guys explain why diving with a single tank is so dangerous? If you were to dive with a let's say 15l or 18l tank with two first stage and two second stage regulators there wouldn't be much difference to a double tank setup, except that in a double tank you can additionally seal off both tanks in case the tank itself had a failiure. Of couse that could happen, but I think it's very unlikely. With regularly serviced tanks I don't really see the problem. Here in Austria we learn to dive in cold lake waters (we have no access to the ocean so we learn to dive in lakes in the mountains where the water is ~8-12°C) with a wetsuit and with a single tank. It's mandatory to use two first stage and two second stage regulators (cold water approved). I get it that the double tank setup provides more air capacity (e.g. 2x12l 200bar => 4800bar*l vs mono 15l 200bar => 3000bar*l or mono 18l 200bar => 3600bar*l) but are there any other advantages?

    Gus & Woody. I can't believe the talk in your videos. I sit here, watching them all, and I'm stunned at the conversation back and forth and noting the discussion of what's said. You guys watch videos and discuss, in no uncertain terms, the display of which is before us. Please take time to stop and consider the verisimilitude of the video, notwithstanding, the heretofore mentioned video and the person taking it. Every time you speak, the words come across the audio of the video and, I want to be candid here, I'm shocked when I hear these words spoken over my speakers. Please take the time to consider all of the factors, and SOME of the factors, or NONE of the factors before spreading these pixelated versions of speaking with moving color video. I just want you to know, I consider your videos (amongst the many many that I watch), without question, indubitably and undisputedly. Please take these ideas and weave them into your thought process. I'd like to see black and white change as you make more videos and as I continue to watch all of your videos. Seriously. Consider this.

    If it's Turkey, if the cave is on their North/Eastern side of the country, it could be Black Sea fed. Water from the Black Sea is freshwater on the surface, but ultra-saline in the depths, hence the name.

      This cave is at the most southern part of Turkey. Samandag/Antakya. Almost at the Syrian border.
