Quick easy way to cut the kernels off a corn cob. We added a bucket to a simple tool and zipped right through about 18 dozen ears of corn in no time at all. And the bucket??? Just a simple free bakery bucket we picked up at the grocery store.
See www.simplycanni... for information on how to preserve corn by canning, dehydrating, making a corn relish... and be sure and save some cobs for corn cob jelly!
One of the simplest fastest solutions I have seen. How about a metal oyster shucking glove to protect your hand?
Walmart currently has these....Mosunx Household Stainless Steel Kitchen Cutter Remover Corn Peeler Stripper Thresher.... they are on clearance for $8.77...regularly $20. Love the video instruction...thanks for taking the time to show us a better way!!
I'm a girly girl, afraid of a drill - yet I was able to make this! :) It works SO great!! I happened to inherit this corn cutter (but didn't know what it was until now. Thanks for such a detailed video!! I love mine now.
Great idea !! You could even place some sort of bag in the bucket to catch the corn.
I would add a short dowel to your wooden pusher. It has the teeth to hold the cob and long enough to push the cob out of the cutter
I read some comments and see that these are sold at Wal-Mart. I love this idea...it's great! Much quicker than cutting it off the cob. Now, instead of just helping Mom freeze corn, I may start doing it for myself, as well. Love the video!
What an awesome idea! This gets my brain working, especially since I grew my first corn ever and picked a bunch of ears yesterday. It's a pencil dent corn probably better for grinding.
I have some Double Red Sweet Corn seedlings growing now and I hope to harvest another round of corn. We have a long growing season in Zone 9.
Thank you for making this video.
Glad it was helpful!
Wow! Love it. I canned some of the sweetest locally grown corn last year. Really are enjoying it and looking forward to next year. Thanks so much.
Thanks, You are the first to say you've actually made one and it works too!
We love this idea & plan on doing it. What size is the bucket & where did he get it?
I love your bucket idea that is so awesome
This is genius!!!! Where can I get the tool?
Ours is unlabeled with a brand. This one at amazon looks very much the same. amzn.to/3XzGpYt
Say I was hoping I’d get a Feedback answer from you I was also thinking of all the pressure pushing down do they bend after a while how many do you have to buy replacements?
this is the best video i have seen on cutting off corn. i need this.Thank you so very much
Wow this is great. U could leave the end of the cob on so ur hand doesn't come in touch with the blade instead of attaching the block of wood
▶Video we did last fall. Super easy way to cut the corn off the cob for canning and dehydrating. - RUclips buff.ly/1ihRPf4
Uncooked or cooked?
I am so doing this! Thanks for posting. You should totally patent the bucket.
Cool idea for sure! Thanks for posting this video.
That is great I will have to try that this year. It is always so messy on my table to just try to cut them into a bowl or on a cookie sheet. Thank you for the great video
1) Is that a 5/gal bucket? It looks smaller.
2) How'd you cut holes in the bucket?
3) What's that tool called, so I can find it on Amazon?
awesome video. is this getting the milk off the cob for cream corn?
The cutter is one that my husband had as a kid. It is not marked so I can't tell you what the brand is. I wish I knew too so I could recommend one.
Is this fresh raw corn, or did you cook it first? I saw a video that said to cook the corn before removing & dehydrating.
Excellent! I am definitely using this method from now own! Thanks!
U make that look easy, great idea❤️
these are sold in amazon, walmart, target...look for the sturdy ones, great idea
what about putting a rubber band on the moving end to keep it tight all the time
Hey I would like to get your email I built one similar to what you got what you did from your idea I love it I would probably try to find just a little bit smaller bucket because these are not very long the corn cutter that is unless I could get something welded to it but I would use a 5 gallon bucket and maybe cut two holes along the side further down to the corner and go flying every direction
What a great idea thanks! You just need to sit on a lower stool to avoid back back pain!!
Hey, put a long screw into a drill and push the cob thru your cutter. The drill will expedite cutting the corn off the cob. Good idea with the bucket.
I tried using this style cutter one year. We went back to the electric knife. This cutter is ok if you're making cream corn I guess, it really rips & mashes the kernels...we like it when the corn is canned as whole kernel corn..I think it just looks nicer when served. This is a quick way to decob corn I'll give ya that..but it's just to angry of a cutter for my style. Good video tho.
The corn cutter I would make it longer on one side with little handles on them grips so it’s more comfortable
Disculpen 🤔pero donde se puede conseguir ese aparatito x favor
Que alguien me informe....x fis ...soy de Monterrey
Juany Martínez los venden en Amazon como por $10
Como los busco disculpe
Wonder how it would work if you added a spring to it?
Hey...I had a few issues...but not enough to "can" the idea;) I bought a bucket and lid...too big for my cut thing. So I made a wooden circle to fit the bucket and secured the cutting thing...but my cutting thing wasn't really small enough...and it was missing kernals...like a whole row. My question is what size bucket is this? And where did you get that cutter...? I got mine from home hardware. I even bent the blades inward and it just didn't get it close enough. Help
jayne capane The corn stripper is an older one that my husband used as a kid so I can't really tell you a brand or anything. The bucket is not a full 5 gallon bucket. I believe it is about 2.5 gallon. I got it at a local City Market in thier bakery department. I believe it first held cake icing. I don't know if that helps at all. :)

While watching this, I thought to myself I MUST HAVE THIS! After searching for a bit, I managed to find one you can buy online for about $10, which includes shipping within the United States. I'm unsure of the quality because I haven't purchased it myself yet, but I'm definitely going to give it a try.

Hi all, I've been asked several times where you can get a cutter like this. The tool itself is not marked. It was my husbands from when he was a kid. I know they are sold in various places. Amazon has them. I'm pretty sure I saw them at our local Ace hardware. Check out farm supply stores. Often they'll have items like this. The bucket is just a plain bakery bucket we got at our local grocery store bakery. Just ask often they'll give them away.
Great idea! Thanks for sharing! I'm going to try this for sure.
is the corn cooked or raw?
Great idea😊 Thank you for sharing.
For your bucket mounted corn stripper, it would likely be more comfortable and less stressful on your hand if you made one with an ergonomic handle and larger circumference to provide better protection in case the ear wobbles to one side.
Great video, will be using the ideas. Thanks!!!
I sent for one and it's not long enough to install on the bucket. What brand is long enough to install on the bucket?
Kack O'Donnell It looks like a 2 or 2 1/2 gallon bucket.
what is the little tool called I need one like yesterday.
Where did you get that instrument from?
where did you purchase the instrument that cuts the corn?
I think that's a Kernal Kutter
Hey I just went to amazon to see what term they are using so I could tell you what to search for. Ours looks just like the one from Good Cooks. Yellow handle corn stripper.
Do you blanch the corn first?
@@seabee_eo1893 Yes we do blanch our corn first. Here are some full directions for canning which includes how we blanch them. www.simplycanning.com/canning-corn.html
That is really a very good idea. Thanks.
Do you blanch before or after
Blanching before makes it easier to remove the kernels.
Where do I get that tool?
Great idea! Thanks for sharing.
You could install a spring between the two arms on the open end of the tool . The spring would keep the blade diameter tight for the smaller end of the cob then allow the blade diameter to expand as you pushed the corn through. Of course you'd have to find a spring with just the right tension. That way you wouldn't have to use your hands to adjust the diameter.
What is it called and where do you get it???
In observation of the way you are doing that and with the fact that you don't fill the pail too much maybe it would be a much lesser time and not so many hand movements if you were to cut an opening in the pail where you have to reach under to grab the Cobb therefore you just reach straight through versus having to angle your hand and arm .Just a though.
Hi Lynda, This is fresh picked corn that we blanched for about 4 minutes. I freeze, can, and dehydrate the corn after it is taken off the cob. You do need to blanch it before you preserve it for any method because it stops enzymes in the corn and it will preserve better. Here is a link to how we dehydrate our corn. I'll add a link to how we dehydrate corn in the videos description. (you tube won't let me post it in this comment) Hope that helps! Sharon
i hv this tool. bt i dnt use a bucket. still so hard fo me
Walmart also has Norpro 5404 Corn Cutter, Stainless Steel at $7.00 but with shipping cost....
Awesome way to get'r done! Brilliant!
Excellent idea! Thanks for sharing :)
This guy sounds exactly like Milton from Office Space.
Karynya99 I don't know what the brand is on the one we have. It is not marked and it was my husbands from when he was a kid. I know they are sold in various places. Amazon has them. I'm pretty sure I saw them at our local Ace hardware. Check out farm supply stores. Often they'll have items like this.
Sorry but this is for dry corn or sweet corn?
This is for fresh picked corn. It would not work with dry corn.
thanks
YOU, sir.... are a GENIUS!!! :-D
This is amazing!!
It works pretty slick.
LOVE it! Thank you.

Too bad you couldn't patent that pal that is a great great idea
Diametro cuchilla y espezor
Gracias
It seems to leave quite a bit of the juice on the cob. I would still have to scrape them by hand lol
Brilliant idea!!!!
Really nice
Excellent!
Slick!
🤩😲wow!
Cutting Sweet Corn Off the Cob "MacGyver" Style
You never mentioned that it doesn't work to well on raw corn.
Push the blanched corn through the hole on a bundi cake pan...D U A
Nice, thanks.
palm bleeds = 500 corn wasted
Megosta. La. Ydea
Or you could just buy a can or bag of corn like everyone else.
If you're into spending tons of money on something that can be grown in your backyard for basically pennies, sure. Don't be such a fucking lazy ass millennial.
