I grew corn one year mostly for shade. I didn’t plan to eat it, but feed to the deer. I tasted one and it was the best corn I’ve ever had in my life. I ended up leaving them in the husk and freezing loads. I’d grab a couple and thaw it, then throw it on the grill. It was wonderful! ❤❤
We have sweet corn growing hope to get to maturity so we can preserve. Thank you for sharing this! Lord please bring you healing powers to Greg's Mother. Lord we lift her up to you for healing Amen!!
Hey Jill 😊 Yummy delicious corn Great job Our neighbor has a lot of corn this year and for some reason this is the best corn we have eaten in a while Sweet delicious huge corn on the cob We put some up on the cob My hubby slice some of the corn on the cob for soups during the winter. Have a bless Sunday Take care Blessing 👩🌾
lol ~ one thing Ohio (where I live) is RICH in---is Corn. Fresh from the field and farmer's market corn is an annual treat. Of course, we're no where near harvest of fresh corn yet. Currently praying that the weather doesn't go psycho either, with too much heat, too much rain, whatever. I enjoy your videos, North Texas!
Awesome job you guys🎉🎉🎉....don't forget to soak and clean everything water touches with vinegar when you get a chance....your drip irrigation, hoses, canners, seedling containers, tomato stakes ect❤❤❤ use a bin and a few gallons of vinegar...start with canners then soak the drip irrigation and dirtier items....it is a project but everything will last longer and work better....prayers for your sweet Mother Greg ❤
Girl, when I discovered how well sweet corn freeze dries 😁😁I have some in the pantry, now from Oct 2023. I just add a little cold water and some butter; pop it on the stove for about 20 minutes. Tastes like we just picked it out of the field! And, it doesn't take up so much room in our not so big freezer. GOOD to see you again. Lifting all of you up in prayer. God knows!
We are located just southwest of you and our squash and zucchini didn’t make very well this year either. Hoping for a better fall harvest. Our corn green beans and purple hull peas are jamming!!
@@ntxg I have four trays of kernels in the freeze dryer, put up 3 bags on the cob vacuum sealed in the freezer and looking for ideas for the remainder.
Not a single squash here. The plants looked so nice and healthy and had tons of male flowers but not a single female. But my cucumbers and tomatoes are doing fantastic! They only get about 3-4 hours of sun a day which I think has kept them from burning up. Your corn looks delicious!
This is almost exactly the way we do it. It's the best way we have found to do corn. If you start with good corn you will have good corn. We have lost a bag in the freezer before and it was a couple years old and cooked it and tasted as fresh as you had picked it. Thanks for sharing praying 🙏
Hey Jill! Missed you…prayers for Greg’s Mom…try and stay cool. We have air quality alerts and heat advisory’s for the next 10 days, been a week so far of the dreaded heat here in Ohio. It was 102 degrees on my patio yesterday. Too hot! Just keeping things watered then back inside.❤❤❤
Haven't been able to have a garden for about 2 years now. Don't know what we're doing wrong? Going to try container gardening. Our friends did great with there gardens. 😢
What kind of vacuum sealer is it that you have. I've never seen one that works that way. I have bought 2 vacuum sealers and both had to be sent back to Amazon for not working past a few days. I don't have that kind of money to waste. Thanks!

Nice Jill, we do the same. Some times we flavor the corn and then vac-pack.

Yay on purple hulls!
We love Furhmanns sweet corn. Just picked up 8 bags this morning myself.

I’m so sorry! It is getting more and more more difficult for sure
Is that Furman corn? From their store just outside Lindsay? We live about 7 miles west of their.
Yes!
I love planting Nirvana sweet corn. Why don’t y’all grow sweet corn? Just curious
We’ve tried many times. Maybe when we get the back acre soil better work we might try again.
Do you put salt in the blanching water?
No ma’am
@@ntxg ok was confused on that. Thank you!.
Did you freeze dry some of this? I assume with that you would cut it off the cob.
No we blanched and freeze
