    Bluegrass is where Scots-Irish jigs and reels intersect with African American Blues- and what a combination! Pure magic!

    Bluegrass Music is so revealing in that, there's nowhere for a musician to hide. You have to be precise, quick jumping in and out on lead. All these Folks are so skilled at their craft. Been a fan many years. Jerry Douglas now has his own band. Dan performs as a solo artist and collaborates with many others. Alison is Alison! What can you not say about Her? Love them

    To hear this band with this song is the equivalent of a well oiled, well run, steam locomotive going down the tracks running perfectly.
    If you think this genre sucks, or is lame, then try playing it!

    I love Celtic music; I love bluegrass because you have the Celtic influence; then I love Mozart(baroque), and I love Home Free. The common denominator is that there is soooo much going on in each of these that my brain just loves it! I hear not only the totality of the performance, but I hear each individual component. And I truly enjoy your channel, sir.

      I'm not a musician by any means, but it seems to me the best seem to gravitate to each other. That is just how it works, there is no other way. Generation and genre can be irrelevant, but respect for and dedication to the craft is never compromised.

    • @robineliason7850
      @robineliason7850 Год назад +2

      @@bendyrland7213 I think you are right. And genre and generation seem to me to be arbitrary categories made up by record company execs to better market material to what they think is their target audience. Most musicians, both those whose careers I follow and albums I buy, and those i have known personally, seem to view it as just music, and that is cool-how do i get that sound out of my instrument, write lyrics like that, etc.

      @@DjPjrocReacts911 Yeah, basically there are two categories: stuff I like and stuff I don't like. Just because I don't like something does not make it inherently bad, it usually just means that I haven't listened to it enough to develop a taste for it.

    just fantastic aren't they? and she didn't even sing in this one! when she sings it goes another level. their sound is absolutely grounded - grass roots wonderful :) so thanks for more alison krauss and union station. you are getting a lot of exposure to a whole other world of music and i am enjoying going along for the ride! i thot she would sing too but is fine just the same she didn't this time. i saw the title choctaw hayride and thot it would be paying some kind of homage lyrically. wonder if their are words to it (?) as i'd love to hear something about my own choctaw heritage!

    Alison has a song out with a singer Robert Plant. It's about Sister Rosetta Tharp (if spelled right) the gospel singer who I think inspired rock and roll.. alubumn is called Rising Sand, Sister Rosetta Goes Before Us. You should check it out. It's different from Alison's usual country singing. They sing Up Above My Head which Sister Rosetta came out with.. Also Sister Rosetta Tharp is one whoes music and voice sends shivers up my spine. Her guitar is awesome. ❤

    Love AK and AKUS. She absolutely has the voice of an angel. It's not suited for every song out there because she doesn't have the vocal projection for some stuff; her voice is like a beautiful velvet fog that drifts thru and atop the music. And yes, the musicianship of US is unsurpassed.
    Her 2017 album "Windy City" was a solo effort, AK without US, and her version of Roger Miller's "River in the Rain" from that set is transcendent.
