Not a banjo, a mandolin. BTW, Allison is an amazing fiddler.
Someone called the mandolin "the biggest little instrument"
The Mandolin, 4 pairs of strings, tuned like a fiddle adds the color to the music!
That is a young Serra Hull on the mandolin. She is in her mid 20's now and is busy showing all the Bluegrass "old boys" how it's done.
Reminds me of raindrops
This woman has 27 Grammies! Perfect pitch, angelic voice... she's one of a kind! This was first done by Keith Whitley, who passed away too soon. You should check him out too. His voice.. so good 😊
I always preferred Kieth Whitley's, the original version, but her version is good too.
@@billwalker7556 I don't disagree. I wish people would react to her other stuff. She's one of my all time favorites and she has so many beautiful songs.
@@vickilloyd7472 Yes she does have many hits and beautiful voice.
Dylan Scott does a good job covering this song in his live shows.
@@vickilloyd7472 "The Lucky One" is one of my favs.
Alison did backup vocals for all of Dolly's albums for 10 years straight. Voice of an angel...
Didn't know that about Alison. She had a great teacher.
Thanks for this information. Didn t know about her backing vocals for Dolly Parton.
She is currently touring with Led Zeppelin frontman Robert Plant. The Queen of Blue Grass and the King of Rock. Her talent is amazing. The number of Grammy awards speaks for itself.
"Raising Sand" is an incredible recording.
The guy playing guitar, on the right side of the screen, is Dan Tyminski, who did the singing for George Clooney in the movie "O Brother Where Art Thou"
Not a big fan of modern country, but I will drop everything to hear Alison Krauss sing a song. She has such an amazing voice.
When someone asks me if I like country music, my response is 95% is not worth listening to, and sometimes worse than that. But 5% is about as good as it gets. "Crazy" is one of the best songs ever composed (Willie Nelson) and performed (Patsy Cline). And that's just one example of how Great country music can be.
And, she is a champion fiddle player.
Usually country and bluegrass are not my first musical choices (though this song is arguably something else), but Alison Krauss (and Emmylou Harris as well) tips the scale for me. She has such a pure voice, with great power. She has won the third most Grammys of any musician of all time, yet somehow she seems so underrated. Thanks for reacting to her.
Alison Kraus has such an angelic voice. Of all the singers I've heard in my lifetime, her voice literally 'melts' me. I could listen to her sing all day, every day. Simply one of a kind. Beautiful.
It's the Appalachian mountain in their voice oh beautiful.
The Whiskey Lullaby video with Allison & Brad Paisley is a must see.
Britt, that instrument is a mandolin. Alison is such a talent. Voice of an angel and a master on the fiddle.
I recommend Alison Krauss and Union Station “The Lucky One.”
I love that !
Allison Krauss has a voice of an angel.
That gorgeous little fill you noticed that helps bring the song to life is from a mandolin. But Alison can sing like an angel with any band behind her, and she harmonizes amazingly, too.
Alison Krauss has one of the best singing voices ever! What an awesome human!
I played Alison Krauss so much I nearly wore out several CDs -- back in the day. I adore her voice!
Allison krauss is the best. Voice of a freaking angel. ❤️ also that's a mandolin not the banjo. Allison also plays the mandolin
Alison Krauss is the leading lady of Bluegrass music. I was blessed to see her perform four or five times, with Union Station, in our small town. Absolutely phenomenal.
I just saw Alison live with Robert Plant a few weeks ago. I cannot describe how ethereal and arresting her voice is live. Their music together is amazing. I also highly recommend anything Alison Krauss has done with Vince Gill. They did a show where they played each other’s songs and it’s one of my favorite performances ever.
Me too !! Amazing!
so jealous
Please react to the Original singer of this song, Keith Whitley...❤❤❤ Whitley was just recently inducted into the Country Music Hall Of Fame... He has many great songs... Miami My Amy, Ten Feet Away, Don't Close Your Eyes, I'm No Stranger To the Rain, I'm Over You, Tell Lorrie I Love Her, Till A Tear Becomes A Rose, I Don't Go Around Mirrors, Homecoming '63, Charlotte's In North Carolina, Nobody In His Right Mind Would Have Left Her, I'm Gonna Hurt Her On the Radio, and I Wonder Do You Think Of Me are AMAZING SONGS, by Keith Whitley...RIP❤❤❤
My beautiful wife walked down the aisle 21 years ago to the original version (Keith Whitley) of this song. It will always hold a special place in my heart.
I would not be able to hold back the tears if I watched the woman I love walking down the aisle to this song. An internal emotional explosion!
Have you heard the version where AK and KW are dubbed together for a duet version. Two of the most iconic voices blended together is simply surreal.
For those who haven't heard this Incredible mashup, here it is: ruclips.net/video/6fRlqQdJWyU/видео.html The lyrics just eat at my heart! STUNNING!!! @@Furball-8994
Voice of an angel. She's got an amazing tenderness in her voice, even when she's at 100% power. That instrument is a mandolin, and it's a lively thing. Ricky Skaggs, who can play about anything, is a good mandolin player. Hear it a lot in bluegrass!
Alison has one of best voices in any janra. She has colaberatd with so many amazing singer/song writers. Her voice and the passion in it in every song she sings without words. Just love her so much 💜
She is my favorite female country artist. She sings country, bluegrass, gospel and plays an awesome fiddle.
This is from the tribute to Keith Whitley. You should listen to Don't Close Your Eyes. Keith could write some lyrics!
Alison did a great cover but Keith Whitley was the original and took it to #1 on the charts. He died of alcohol poisoning while attempting to mend a broken heart according to the rumor mill. The man had a voice that could touch your soul!
No he died of alcohol poisoning while being a drunk. His brother had literally just been with him an hour before he died and he said he was fine and acting normal.
true, he did a good job, but Allison has a better version
She did it better
Sings like an angel
Pure beautiful bluegrass music.
If Angel's sing, they sound like Allison Krause. Not a banjo, it's a mandolin.
She has such a beautiful voice. I saw her with Robert Plant several years ago. What you thought was a banjo is actually a mandolin.
My favorite Alison Krauss song is "Paper Airplanes". She has a fantasitic live performance of this song on Letterman. Also, the mandolin player, Sierra Hull, is an absolutely incredible musician and singer. (That is a mandolin when you said "isn't that a banjo"). Also, the guitar playing is the great Dan Tyminski who was the singing voice of George Clooney in the movie Oh Brother Where Aren't Thou.
I got to see her and the band 5 times! 3 times front row center in a small club.
🎼🎼🎼🤍🎼🎼🎼 .. good morning. Your fantastic journey has brought through many of the great Country Music singers , and now you know the real gem of them all ,, Alison Krauss. I think every person could remain happy if they listened to Alison .. Vince Gill .. Merle Haggard .. Dolly Parton .. Patsy Cline .. Alan Jackson and Don Williams sing a little every day. Thank you Britt .. I loved this selection .. ❤️🖤❤️🖤❤️zz
Robert Plant & Alison play great music together.
Alison Krause is one of my most favorite American singers. Her voice is exquisite, so delicate and pure.
That voice is why so many artists want to work with her, from just about every type of music. It's also why she's the queen of the Grammys (27), no female artist has equaled her. That instrument is a mandolin.
Live, recorded Alison's voice is pure etherealness in it's beauty. she is The Queen of Bluegrass, 27 Grammy's and a total of 46!!!! Grammy nominations.
If you ever see the music video it will break your heart then break it again. Love Brad. Love love Alison!
Performed live. No auto tune here. Just the perfect pitch of Alison Krauss and some of the best musicians in the country.
This performance is from the Country Music episode of PBS' "In Performance at the White House" from November of 2011. Alison was preceded by The Band Perry, and followed by James Taylor. She was accompanied by her Union Station band mate Dan Tyminski on guitar and her protege, and child prodigy, Sierra Hull on the mandolin. Dan Tyminski is probably best known for voicing over George Clooney's singing voice on "Man of Constant Sorrow" in the Coen Bros. movie "Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?", and singing lead on the Avicii song, "Hey Brother".
Krauss is one of those singers where I know how amazing her voice is, and yet every single time when I begin to listen to a song of hers, I am still *surprised* by just how amazing her voice is.
Utterly angelic!
One of the most beautiful love songs ever. I love it.
Alison is a special lady in the music world, she sings like an angel.
I saw them live and they spent a good 45 minutes getting the microphones and sound system just right because they are so precise in singing and playing. That was an amazing concert.
My favorite female vocalist of all time!
Just saw her and Robert Plant (Led Zeppelin) together earlier this month!! It was an amazing show!
Alison Krauss and Dolly Parton share what I call is the yellow highlighter effect. They just bring that extra something indiscernible the IT factor. It’s a Voice that you have to lean into just lovely.
She has such a sweet amazing voice❤🎉
Also he did a beautiful melancholy song called I'm no stranger to the rain, and I wonder do you ever think of me.
The most pure voice ever!!!
You should definitely do a deep dive on Alison Krauss and Union Station… Incredibly beautiful music!
I saw her in concert, she opened for Dwight Yoakam. She is truly awesome.
Her voice is so soft and so powerful at the same time. This song is the epitome of I dont need you to tell me, because you show me.
Alison has the voice of an angel
President Obama loves country music and he loves Alison Krauss with her band Union Station. Always pitch perfection.
Alison has some great duets with Robert Plant (of Zeppelin fame) as well as country/bluegrass songs with Vince Gill and others that I’m sure you would enjoy.
Alison Krauss holded a Grammy record for a long time with her 27 Grammy Awards. She is a living country and bluegrass legend!!!
one of the greatest, most underrated voices in all of music, by everyone who doesn't know who she is and what she's capable of. people been sleeping on Allison Krause for far too long. lovely voice lovely person.
Her rendition of this song is the best there is.
Oh, and by the way, the gentleman playing guitar next to her is Dan Tyminski, the actual singer of "Man of Constant Sorrow" that was lip-synced by George Clooney on the movie "O' Brother, Where Art Thou?".
There is a version of this song where a DJ cut together a mix of Krauss and Keith Whitley so it sounds like a duet. IMO its the best version.
I will have to look for that. Thanks for the information.
I love allison krauss voice
Her voice has not changed in 40 years
She plays the violin or fiddle in most of her songs with union station
I have this woman’s music for years. A voice I love 😊 she’s also a fantastic violin player. Seen her and a her band Union Station a number of times.
I’ve seen Alison many times at Music Festivals starting when she was 14 years old! She sings like an Angel but fiddles like the devil. She is very warm, funny, and approachable.
One if the purest voices ever.
Lol, I love when "non- country" fans, hear some of the "top" country singers and are utterly amazed by their skills! Alison Krauss is one of the top 3 female country singers, lmao.
My cousin had this played for one of her wedding songs.
Alison does backing vocals on dolly’s incredible Little sparrow album and I’m here for it. She came up a fiddle prodigy but turns out she also has the voice of an angel. It’s like drawn butter in a crystal tureen.
A favorite singer performing a favorite song being reacted to by a favorite reactor. Life is good. Thanks.
The girl on the mandolin is Sierra Hull.. a 5 time mandolin player of the year winner. She’s a great bluegrass artist too! She started playing with Allison occasionally since she was 11 years old
I have said it before and will say it again, thus woman could sing my death notice and I'd love to hear it
My wife and myself when to last Astros game in Astrodome. Willie put on a concert after the game, this was his last song as was singing “Turn out he lights” the lights in the dome started going out one by one. It was chillin and emotional for us Astro and Astrodome fans.
Funny you should mention Dolly Parton. Dolly once said when she hears Alison Krauss sing, it's what angels sound like.
she has an angelic voice.
me thinks
I would say she probably has the voice of an angel. I think if I were to ever hear an angel sing it would probably make me go deaf but I think it was something like that❤❤❤❤❤❤😢😢😢
This particular show is more than worth the time. I believe this is their performance produced by Soundstage. (for tv)
There was a broadcast of a concert of hers with the Union Station on BBC 4. I recorded it on my vcr and it was later put on a dvd by a mate of mine. When I got the disc, I popped it in the machine and went to brew a cuppa and while it steeped, I sat and watched it. An hour later it was over and the tea was on the counter, stone cold and undrinkable.
Alison is one of a kind. And Sierra Hull on the mandolin. Wow, this is great.
Anything AKUS or Allison by herself is top notch.
You should check out Alison Krauss singing “These Dreams” with Heart. I didn’t know I needed that in my life until I heard it. She also did James Taylor’s “Carolina in my Mind”. Oh my! I think you’d like both. Great reactions! Love your channel.
Krauss has long been the great mistress of bluegrass style music. She is the best.
Voice of a angel. Always enjoyed her music.
One of the all time best country songs, made famous by Keith Whitley many years ago. And while I love Keith's version, Alison's version is Absolutely Fabulous!
if you want to hear one of the most amazing cooperations in music, you should listen to her together with the still incredible Robert Plant, there is a tiny desk concert of the both of them, that is sooo good.
I love Alison's voice. I also think she's a hilarious person. During a live performance she was talking about the song "Ghost in this House" ... she heard another band perform the song and she was like "that's the worst thing I've ever heard in my entire life ... we have to do it too." And "Ghost in this House" is amazing, lol. I would also recommend "My Ain True Love" ...
Voice of an ANGEL
This was sang at my daughter’s wedding! Such a beautiful song!
Keith Whitley did this this song to. A great artist that died far to soon. I'm no stranger to the rain is a good song to check out by him.
No. It was written by Paul Overstreet and Don Schlitz.
just sounds dumb for a man singing these words to a woman. why anyone would recommend his version is beyond me.
@@scrambler69-xk3kv you sound dumb for making such a ignorant statement. Dudes got the voice of a lifetime 🤣 just because you're fragile ego doesn't think a "man" shouldn't say those words doesn't make it true. It's not 1850 anymore buddy. 👍
Listen to Alison when she goes blue grass with her Violin in the song sawing on a string
"If i Didn't Know Any Better" is my favorite song from her. She has perfect pitch!
This is one of my favorite songs by her.....her voice is so clear, and pure.
So sweet it makes my teeth hurt
Listen to all her duets❤❤
Angelic voice. Beautiful love song. What more can you wish for?
That's Dan Tyminski on guitar and Sierra Hull on mandolin. Two of the best. Dan was in Allison's band Union Station for years and it's his voice (not George Clooney) you hear on A Man Of Constant Sorrow in the movie Oh Brother Where Art Thou. Much like Allison was with the fiddle, Sierra was a child prodigy on the mandolin winning major competitions vs much older players even though she was barely a teen. Allison kind of mentored Sierra while she was learning the ropes of Big Business music. Look at the members of the backing band behind them just sitting and enjoying the music. Love watching your reaction videos.
I grew up listening to this song. It's very sweet, love it.
