The best comment I have ever seen was "a guitar would want Dave Gilmour for Christmas"
Dave Gilmour, Quality not quantity.
Drugs listen to Pink Floyd to get high.
Jim Morrison pfft you don’t need drugs for Pink Floyd, Pink Floyd IS a drug!
You don't need drugs to enjoy Pink Floyd.
You need Pink Floyd to enjoy drugs.
best one i heard was "David Gilmour wires his guitar into your soul"
Pink Floyd is the best Band ever.. You don't "listen" to them, you EXPERIENCE them...
For a small island, we Brits haven't half produced some good music!!
Well, sure, you are the only nation that has taken over the entire world before. :)
@@mrme123ee Musically - correct.
It rains too much that's why, nothing else better to do. Hey I'm from Ireland an it rains twice as much. All we have is green no rock.
Here! Here!
Punched well above our weight, that's for sure.
Even Nick Mason threw of his headphones so he could listen to Dave Gilmours solo on comfortably numb
cuz that is the best solo ever
He just needed the headphone for the first note.
I'd say it was a monitoring issue. I've played in bands with in - ear monitors and the sound guy turned up one of the instruments too loud and nearly blew out my eardrums, so I threw them straight out.... Love Nick Mason, he's brilliant, such a humble guy.
It's crazy that after 25 years apart, and with only 3 hrs rehearsal, their long dormant inimitable sound reappeared just like that. Amazing what chemistry of 4 individuals can do.
Well, they did write and record those songs themselves, and played them countless times on all their massive world tours from the 70s through the 90s so I’m sure they got in sync pretty quickly on the first rehearsal.
@@joe6096 muscle memory at a certain point
Get any Beatles together and you'll hear the same thing.
As someone put it, “Nothing flashy about it- just 4 old guys in jeans making great music.”
@@joe6096 True, but things can move apart during such a period , Most do not spend much time listening to old recordings due to the hundred times they heard them while recording then touring , .. I suppose the amount of touring burnt the songs in all detail into the brain circuitry-- Also for professional musicians and others a piece has to be repeated until it is in the automatic dept, like walking , ....it sort of plays itself,,
I shed tears watching this, the original band back together, watching it on television it was beautiful.
I blamed the onions. Thanks for letting me off the hook!
@@320Scott I went to Earl's Court for PULSE gig which was one of the last experiences I had with my dad. Plus the fact I was in pub incredibly drunk and the memories came flooding back. True fact the gig was supposed to finish at 11PM and our then PM Tony Blair granted an extension at the last minute so he could see it!
@@robertdalton3622 That's pretty epic! Never would have pegged Blair a Floyd fan. Cool that you could experience that with your Dad. Stay safe in the UK, my friend.
@@robertdalton3622 Don't know if you've seen this one. Just Wright and Gilmour, but still pretty good IMO. ruclips.net/video/_cPxKq-gMDo/видео.html
@@320Scott and you
I still can't get over the live PULSE performance of Comfortably Numb... every single time I cry and get goose bumps.
It is like a door is opened, and all the pain I stuffed inside for 68 years, finally can come out.
Everyone just knows the pulse version. For me, the DELICATE SOUND OF THUNDER one is way better of all. Absolutely. And the entire live.
Pulse live was something from heaven.
Now please...listen and react to Comfortably Numb at the Pulse concert. The second guitar solo is like 14 hours and 55 minutes long. It will tear you apart emotionally and visually.
The black strat one or the red strat one? found 2...
dave deb He uses the red strat on the Pulse tour
@@masonlillard3398 , the version that they filmed was from Earl's Court in London
@@adamknight7041 Yeah, my dad saw them on the Division Bell/Pulse Tour in Atlanta.
The greatest solo of all time.
Everybody always talks about Gilmour’s undeniable prowess on the guitar, and rightfully so. He’s probably the most incredibly tasteful lead guitarist to ever grace a stage in that he always plays exactly the right thing for a given song.
However, because of that, his amazing voice is often overlooked, and he’s one of the few vocalists who really sounds a BETTER with some age on his voice.
You need to listen to Andrew Latimer (Camel) or Steve Hackett as well.
Agree!
Rich, you spotted the moment in Comfortably Numb where drummer Nick Mason pulls his headphones off. He must have wanted to hear the guitar solo 'live' rather than via the electronics as this was the final time they were on stage together - sadly, Rick Wright passed away a few years later. My God, this is such an emotional performance from the boys here. As Roger later said, it's a satisfying way to end the band formally. And great for us fans too, they got back together at last for one last blast...I'm envious of all here who were there, I would have emptied my bank account to go:).
I was sitting on my couch in tears. Never thought I would see them together again. I had see them many times between '73 and '83, then without Roger later.
I remember watching this on MTV. MTV in their infinite wisdom decided to cut to a commercial in the middle of the guitar solo for comfortably numb. they got so many complaints during the commercial break that they came back and showed the whole thing from the beginning. SOOOO incredible. They sounded so good. But did anyone really expect anything less?
I remember that. I remember screaming at my TV.
I remember that too, fortunately, I was watching the live video stream on the internet, but also had my TV on mute.
Yes I remember being astonished that they cut away, as if they had absolutely no clue about the significance of Pink Floyd all performing together again.
The highest of this, for me, was how HAPPY Roger looked while playing.
I'd seen him live solo several times and he always seemed miserable.
Something changed, fundamentally, with him in the last few years leading up to that reunion. He put aside his anger, his resentment, and found his connection with his audience again after years being behind his wall.
This was his ultimate tearing down of the wall, by reuniting with the rest of Floyd, one last time.
Tommy Mac it must have been hard for Roger to hear his lyrics being played to stadiums for so many years .. For me he is the essence of Floyd . To see him there with the other 3 and Dick Parry on sax was mind blowing
@@Stephenconder Roger was the lyricist with a lot to say. I have a lot of respect for him. However, he disregarded the emotional impact of the music, a lot of which came from Wright, to bring life to his lyrics.
@@Stephenconder pity his voice isnt up to it!
Roger clearly loved it, DG not so much, it's clear on his face at the end
I can imagine the faces on all the other acts who thought they might top the bill when Bob Geldof told them Pink Floyd were reuniting for one night. And yes, I was there.
The outro solo in Comfortably Numb for me is just a transcending experience every time I listen to it. As if I am floating in time and space or travelling in a space ship between stars for all eternity. Mind blowing guitar perfection from Gilmour that plugs right into the soul.
The greatest band ever imo
Hi Skeptic, I agree, but I’m Dutch an have question and maybe you have an answer. What happens in the American music industrieI got the idea that the.creativity is died And rewarding for these great band with it. We have here a
lot symphonic metal bands and they have a lot of American fans because of the great music. Btw America have lot of great bands in any direction of the music in that time. Simple list Doors, Eagles, CSN&Y, Doobies, Earht Wlnd&Fire, platters and so on. Besides I mm 66 years old and formal dj in the 70&80s and love a lot of styles.
They are gods.
I agree....100%
No doubt.
In your opinion?
Actually your opinion just happens to be the truth of the universe.
The Floyd formed me more than any other influence in my life. Whether it be Money and Pigs and Have a Cigar, Dogs and Sheep, so I'm Comfortably Numb. Grantchester Meadows helped me Breath. Time sure has passed but they always helped me watch out for Pigs on the Wing. Nothing quite like Several Species of Small Furry Animals Gathered Together in a Cave and Grooving With a Pict, Just Be Careful With that Axe Eugene :)
Nice to see someone mentioning some tracks from ummagumma. I was hooked as soon as I heard "careful with that axe, eugene".
First time I ever got high, the song that started playing as I got off was Astronomy Domini. A life changing event.
"And then you find ten years have got behind you."
Can't believe it's almost been 15 years.
crazdasian thanks, now I feel old
I think "Money" was chosen for this performance because this was a concert whose theme was fighting poverty.
I was there, so many had left because it was overrunning and they would miss their trains, we ended up against the barrier for this and The Who, missed our train! So worth it.
NICE! Something I would do.
Who the hell would leave before this just to catch a train? I'd have risked crashing out on the lawn of that park if I had to if it meant witnessing such a seminal moment in music history.
Fun Fact: On the studio version of Wish you were here, near the beginning you can hear David Gilmour cough. When he heard it, he decided to quit smoking! 😎✌️❤️
No one has convinced me yet that there is any guitar solo in the history of rock that's better than David Gilmour's in "Comfortably Numb."
They shouldn't try. It regularly heads the lists of great solos.
David gilmour is the greatest guitar player ever 👌
The master of the slow notes!
Prince was pretty good also. RIP
He also is a great vocalist.
I love it. I remember waiting for them to start and thinking, this could go so wrong. After they had finished I thought, brilliant!
Wrong? With those guys? Never!
I have been a Floyd fan for the best part of 35 years i listen to them at least minimum twice a week still, the music never gets old,i have always said they never truly had the recognition they deserve, maybe due to them not been a "Commercial" band, when i watched this concert i think it was the first time my Wife of now 25 years had seen me cry. Thanks for making this video guys, appreciate it so much.
Neil Hanson great story, I get it, great music can do that to men and women
My ex-husband and I lived in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada in an apartment next to Ivor Wynn Stadium in the 1970's. Pink Floyd was doing a performance there and we were able to sit on our balcony and see and listen to them in the comfort of our home. What an incredible experience. Love your reactions. They are the best. You two are great together and give off such a comfortable, yet exciting, vibe. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and feelings with the world. Some of us are not able to get out as much as we used to and it is nice to watch/listen to others appreciating the music we grew up to. I consider both of you to be exceptional at what you are doing. Keep up the good work and thanks for the inspiration you bring to everyday live. Cheers from Canada
Greetings from another Hamiltonian. I remember it well but unfortunately didn't attend. I did hear about the pig though.
I agree you two give off a very friendly somewhat "intimate"vibe to the few reviews I've seen. And not trying to come off too fresh but it's quite lovely to see her pretty dresses with ample cleavage cutaways.Stay healthy &be blessed😉👍
There are many categories in rock music. Pink Floyd was their own category.
Along with Queen and Kansas!
The thing I remember most about Live8 after the Floyd performance was all of us thinking how difficult it was going to be to get a decent seat for the reunion tour. It just felt like it was finally going to happen.
Alas...
So, we have this stunning performance instead. It's glorious, but also profoundly sad.
I think I saw an interview where they both stated they had moved past it personally but professionally it would never work. This was an interesting statement and seemed almost backwards...
"They didn't play 'Time', they played 'Money' instead."
Even they had to choose between time and money!
Funny!
Well TIME IS MONEY
David Gilmore once said there was only one thing he regrets about the album Dark Side of the Moon. He was not able to listen to it for the first time, beginning to end, with headphones on. Having done that, I understand
I remember listening to dark side of the moon when it was first released, on our new stereo system on headphones and it was life changing. Probably the best album ever!
You’re exactly right this is what I’ve been saying for years Richard Wright so fantastic on keyboards always got screwed by the camera people even though his keyboards were absolutely essential to Pink Floyd’s catalog and people forget how much of the music he actually wrote on the Darkside of the moon what a shame
I heard them for the first time in 1973 when my friend handed me the headphones and said listen to this! It was Dark Side Of The Moon. I had never heard anything like it before, or after, It's still my favorite album!
Oh man I haven't seen this in years, totally had forgotten about this show... Wow, So good to be honest I was holding back emotions and wet eyes by the end of the performance, What a magical moment in music history.
Thanks for posting this :)
This is my first time seeing this, thank you so much. Roger Waters looks like he is truely enjoying this.It breaks my heart that these geniouses power trips tore down the wall between them. I only wonder what more great music they could bring to us if they did not have their differences. God bless the Rolling Stones.
It was mainly Roger Waters and while it's sad to think what could have been, look what they've left us with. There's more and more people listening to them for the first time and while I envy them for that I'm happy for them.
Roger is apparently extremely difficult to deal with.
I live 10 minutes walk from Hyde Park , where this concert took place. I was there, with my wife, between the crowd watching,,,, I never thought that one day I will see all members of Pink Floyd united in a concert ever again but, it did happen and it was SUPER just to see them together let alone the performance which was OOOOOF. Thank you both and stay safe.
She's ready for Great Gig in the Sky
David guitar always expresses the emotion of every song. It is another vocal element.
"That dude" is Tim Renwick. At the time he was one of the very few musicians who had played with both Roger and David on their separate ventures. He grew up in Cambridge too.
Also played in Eric Claptons band in the mid 80s.....
@@SotonCueMan And with Clapton and Waters on the Pros and Cons tour.
This performance was the triumphant return of David's fabled "Black Strat" to active duty.
If I remember right, after this show the band was offered 150 million to tour the US and they obviously turned it down.
When you want to see and hear perfection and shear brilliance, keep calm and listen/watch Pink Floyd !
The masters of music !
Thank You for watching this, my eyes get a little wet watching this but worth it !
Metal lerv from down under \m/ \m/
as a british man... i speak for pink floyd when i say, "you're welcome"
PF is amazing in so many ways. One of them is that they didn't lose their ability to sing or play. So many of the greats just sounded terrible when they got old (no fault of their own, you can't fight time...). David's voice is still really smooth here.
The last time I saw Roger, a couple years ago, he actually sounded much better than this.
Gentlemen till the end, they continued to keep Syd on the payroll throughout his life.
@Hicky Hicky No!
That was amazing...! I had not seen it and I had tears during Wish You Were Here.. Thanks for sharing your reaction!
This is such an emotional watch, I have tears streaming down my face. I feel so privileged to have live my life during theirs.
The best comment I have ever seen was "a guitar would want Dave Gilmour for Christmas"
This sound like studio!
I was working on the Saturday this concert went out. I found out roughly what time Pink Floyd were due to start and I remember finishing work with 30 minutes until their spot started and I ran home to catch it. I was 17 and seeing this for the first time has stuck with me ever since.
With Roger Waters as it should be.
If you think that check out the rehearsals where David was clearly angry with Roger and nearly slammed his guitar down. Roger started bossing them around, especially Nick (Nick replied "that's how I play it, referring to Roger who said he wanted it played his way). We were lucky they made it to the show
The Gilmour's guitar solo in Comfortably Numb always gives me goosebumps 🤘🏼🤘🏼😭
Watching Roger rejoin the Floyd brought me to tears.
Your wife looks at you so full with love, and you even react one time! Man are so unpassiontly. Even me.
Pink Floyd is my favorite prog band of all time. It's amazing how well their music still stands up after all these years. Showing this was an excellent choice, Rich.
Every time I hear PF it makes my spirit soar, if that makes any sense.
Is it me, if ya met Gilmore on the street, you would think he is just someone's grandpa..... ? So kewl with a T-shirt n jeans.... Cheers from Ottawa!!
O-Town pride!
That's because us grandpas' rock! I've been listening to Floyd since the late 60's. They have been a fixture in my life soothing my troubled soul, healing me with their poignant songs of life.
Dave Gilmour is 'just a normal guy', who despite being world famous, still stays down to earth and doesn't let his fame get in the way. He donated all the profits from the album sales generated by this performance, to charity. Suddenly, a lot of the other artists decided to follow suit.
After this concert, David Gilmour and Roger Waters were interviewed separately on TV and both asked if this reunion meant that Waters could rejoin the band. Waters said "I hope so" and Gilmour said "No way!"
It was more Waters band than Gilmour's. Waters was in the original Pink Floyd. Gilmour came in later to replace Syd Barrett.
@@heliotropezzz333 Oh Yes but it's prehistory...
Roger Waters is the soul to Pink Floyd as John Lennon was to the Beatles. Gilmour may be a good guitar player but Waters made all the difference.

Thank you both. I've been weary and cynical for weeks, and I'm drifting away from all that. This helped immensely. Wish you well, good people.
I haven’t watched it yet and I’m so excited I can’t stand it.❤️😃🥂Much love
The annoying thing about the Live8 event was that McArtney refused to play the show unless he headlined it and played last. So, the perfect moment to end it was robbed by Paul McCartney's insistence that he had to play Hey Jude.
The credits should've rolled and the lights gone down on Comfortably Numb, after Floyd destroyed the crowd in their last ever performance. Hey, maybe we could've got an extra song out of them without Hey Jude.
Next try COMING BACK TO LIFE - HIGH HOPES - ONE OF THESE DAYS and SORROW in that order from the PULSE Concert. Visually and musically stunning. Please do Kel right by this she will love it PLEASE. PLEASE !!!!!
Watched this live...I think on MTV, but I can't remember for sure. They put an ad in right in the middle of a song though, so they replayed this later in full with no interruption. Live 8 had several different stages set up around the world where top musicians played. Anyways, I always cry when I see this as it's the last concert they did together, and that makes me sad.
The only time Breathe & Breathe Reprise have been played together.
I like when the guitar solo begins on Money we get a close up of the Battersea Power Station.
I was there. I was one of the lucky people who saw Pink Floyd live in Rome. And I will never forget it. I got completely lost after the concert with head-full of LSD. I wouldn't trade it for a million dollars.
A real Pink Floyd fan knows that, No Roger Waters, no Pink Floyd. it was GREAT to see the band together
No Waters, peace and harmony reign and still produce good music.
I can't believe this was 15 years ago! I was lucky enough to be there,
there was no way I was going to miss seeing these four guys back together, it was the only time I ever saw them live, but I'll never for get those 23 minutes!
I had Dark side of the Moon on 8-track! One of the last 8-tracks I bought was The Wall. 😎✌️❤️
Best band ever, lucky to have seen them live. Thanks for all the memories you guys bring back, amazing!
Comfortably Numb Pulse. 😁 Best guitar solo ever recorded.
Somehow, I enjoy it more when shared with such an appreciative audience as you two. Thanks for the experience.😷👍
You guys need to react to 'High Hopes' from the 'Remember That Night' dvd David Gilmour put out in 2005. Incredible performance!
How significant it is that Breathe is one of the songs........ Everyone just needs to take a step back... and Breathe!! Cheers from Ottawa!!
Hey I am in Ottawa too! Stay safe all!
OMG this sent every musical Rush down my spine, imagine listening to this in the late 70s, tripping your balls off
I saw them at the Dagenham Roundhouse England along with every other 60's 70's rock/prog rock group. Look up "Dagenham Roundhouse England. List of bands that played there" and feel total rock envy, every weekend for years I saw the best. And strangely I remember every gig( and believe me I shouldn't be able to).
I experienced them together 4 times live and then Roger Waters three times after that. They were all stunning in their grip on the audience, but I must say the concert in Chicago for the Animals tour was Brilliant.
Send Roger Waters three times. Last time in Liverpool, it was fucking unbelievable! The laser effects especially doing the Animals stuff!
This event was really emotional for me. I watched it from my house and recorded it on VHS. I still have the tape. It really was a monumental event. Pink Floyd reunion? It was just too good to be true. Boy did they ever deliver with those 4 songs! Everyone wanted more of course, but economics (MONEY) made the rules. Truly they are giants in musical art.
I know you have done a bunch of The Who. The super cute way Kel says “mobile”...should invite a reaction to “Goin’ Mobile” .
Stay safe!
I'm not even sure how to classify this band. There is no way to label such a group of musicians.
You can't classify this band to ANY GANRE..... Because they transcend all Ganre
Masters at work!
Check out David Gilmour Live at Pompei....He's so effortless at being perfect, even now after all this time. Have seen them 4 times the 1st in 1971.
Oh my god you two ,first time seeing you and you stirred something in me . I am very young 70 and my husband and myself loved Pink Floyd , my husband has passed now and , you both reminded me of us both together ,that was how we always reacted to them when they played.God bless you both that review has ment so much to me 😊
This is just so beautiful that it hurts.
Dear Sir and Madam, may i respectfully ask you to listen to Fleetwood Mac Green Manalishi the original live recording from Boston 1970 on the Blues rock channel. Listen to it all, i think it was Peter Green who influenced David Gilmore to some extent.
Thanks for these moments sharing.

Brilliant stuff. One of the best reaction videos anywhere. And how great is David Gilmour? Master at work.
Thank you Kel n Rich. Great choice. I really enjoyed your company, alone, in lockdown isolation on a farm, just outside Cape Town .
Quite simply one of your best one reaction videos ever!! I loved PF when I was a teenager and I'm now in my 60's and still love them to bits ... "pure dead brilliant, so they are!" as we say in Bonnie Scotland :) xx
This is what I grew up to, Among other thing And the shit that passes most music these days?
Proof that even at the age of 120 (LOL) Pink Floyd still musically and lyrically tower over anything that could be seen live on today's stages, IMO.
Saw Pink Floyd in 1987 in Versailles, Paris, France and again in 1994 at the Werchter festival site in Belgium. Two totally different but marvellous experiences. Pink Floyd are absolutely in a category of their own, their music grabs you and carries you away to worlds you couldn't have imagined. They are an intoxicating drug that expands your mind, a trip you luckily never recover from.
This sound like studio!
Tom Bigelow it’s not, I was at a concert in 96 and it was like listening to a cd... that clear... wauw... my jaw was hanging on the floor for 2,5 hrs.. still hurts now 😂😉
They were keyed in for that brief moment in time.you have to do David Gilmour at Pompei 2016.phenomenal again.
Before this concert, I'd never heard Breathe performed as one whole song :P Usually they play Breathe, then On the Run, then Time and then Breathe Reprise. It was a very nice change to hear Breathe and Breathe Reprise played together :)
The best recording and versions are from the Pompei concert. David Gilmour in Pompei, please look at that one.
They seemed to avoid showing Rick entirely for some reason.
Kenny H first heard Pink Floyd on the radio in 1967 singing See Emily Play , their music certainly evolved in later years just like other super groups.
I remember weeping tears of joy when I watched this live. I've seen Floyd and Waters separately on as many occasions as possible. This was how every show should have been.
Fun fact-- this concert put Dark Side of the Moon album back on the billboard's top 200 best selling album's for the following the next couple year's, all proceeds from the sales of all Pink Floyd albums after this song went to charities to help the homeless, they were the only band that played that guitar that went outside of the concert to help people around the world, even donating their gift bags which contained Rolex watches to charity, Pink Floyd didn't benefit from this concert at all, they reunited because they knew they could help and that was their goal, was to help.
so name any other group that could get together
