An important note for the Bristly Crake: If you are sprinting around without the Ghillie Mantle, you may scare it off the Mosswine's back. You may still find him trying to run for his life and hitting a wall (literally), right by the mushroom at the end of that little path but he's tricky to see there bc it's dark, plus he doesn't stick around for ages!
Grandfather mantagrell arent actually rare there are a bunch of them flying above cpral highlands, and there are more rare pets like the swordfish, phantom butterfly, the hercudome beetle, gold beetle, glowing gecko just below the second capsite of rotten vale, the other kind of pterix "dont know the name cos i havent got it yet" apparently they appear when its raining in the ancient forest, the emerald hermicrab and that blue dragonfly thing in the wildspire waste that only appear at night. I bet there are more just havent found them yet.
The petricanths can also be found in the elder recess eastern campsite (8), when spawning there all you have to do is flip a 180 and go to the water. On the far left side of the water there are some rocks he likes to hide behind. Found this spot to work much better for me in terms of spawn rate then the one from this video
Obviously it's much harder to come across since you can't possibly see them, but the Downy Crakes can also be found rarely on the backs of the Grandfather Mantagrells in the Coral Highlands. Again, it's a much less effective way to find them since you can't tell which one they're on top of, but I just got lucky when I shot one down and Downy Crakes went running everywhere.
I was doing the “Gettin’ Yolked In The Waste” quest because t’was the only quest left i needed to do to finish up all my 3 star quests and as i was approaching the herbivore nests i heard the familiar Downy Crake chirp and by some strike of luck i managed to catch the entire lot of em’. Just the day before i caught 3 after hours of refreshing and now i just hit motherlode on here. It was a good evening. So yeah, try checking the herbivore nests where all the Apceros are when doing that particular quest cuz they might spawn there.
There’s also the wiggler queen in the coral highlands that can only b found at night n will have an orange head instead of a blue one like the rest (the wigglers r those snake guys)
Dipi4pinoy zone one just load in throw on your ghille mantle jump down and crouch around that zone the one I found was litterally to the left after landing
Thank you! The downy crake is something I've been trying to find over and over. I'm always running through the Ancient Forest over by the beach and I thought that they spawned from a bush and kept running through them again and never finding them. I could hear them sometimes running by as well.
It's worth noting that the Prism Hercudrome can also be found in the Wildspire Waste. I happened upon mine on the way to the zone where Jyuratodus sleeps on one of the upraised platforms.
Try capturing the Pink Hare in the Ancient Forest and Wild Spire Zone 1. When you see those little brown weasel rabbit randomly pink one will appear. You won’t get an achievement or trophy but it is one of those rare animals that you might have over looked. Pink Hare

Also to note that I've also found the petricanth spawning in the Elder's Recess Notherwest Camp pool. If it spawn you can see it at the far left corner of the pool.
For the rare fish you actually don't have to leave the area. I was farming the golden fish and just running back and forth between the 2 ponds when 1 showed up with the respawns.
Downy Crake can be found in coral highlands riding the large flying bugs. You usually never see the tops of them except in a few areas and they are out of reach so you have to shoot it down to make them drop for quick capture.
You can catch the fish in Elders Recess too. Just go to the area 8, in fact just start there. I just caught it on the right hand side of the pond. It is my third one now, made me feel cool to catch it somewhere other than where we were told we could catch it.
You don't have cc to back out of an expedition to get new fish in a pond, just fish in up for the gold scales go room around farm some stuff the check the pond again, way better use of time when it's not there than backing out then going back in fish will re pop about a min after you leave the area but only if are looking at it they won't re pop silly isn't it
I actually found my downy bird in one of the tunnels linked to the Rathian cave sitting on a thick-skinned fruit. Then again, it looked like it was having some kind if seizure on top of it, so perhaps it wasn't really meant to be there.

The left-most that has the Platinumfish also has a chance of spawning the Petricanth. Also, I think the Bristly Crake might have a chance to spawn on any Mosswine as I have found one in the Coral Highlands.
For some reason I found the Downy Crake randomly on the floor in Wildspire Waste and then again in Coral Highlands. Never actually seen one on top of anything, I'm a little confused now.
You can also find the purism hercudrome in the desert map just before the catfish (forgot their names) just need to look for the anchor beetles and its up on a ledge on the side of a tree.
Ok, for the downy things I saw the once and, thought I was hallucinating from playing too much Monster Hunter Thanks for this, I would have thought I was crazy for ages.
Me too I was wandering through the wastes and saw them run over the edge of the map before I could get my net out . Couldn't decide if I had really seen anything or not.
i thought i was seeing things too. had no idea they rode on the backs of large herbivores... but in retrospect that makes more sense since i barely ever attack them.

Actually, I don't know if it's a fluke but I was able to just run too and from camp to respawn them. The Crake in particular. I ran up to the moss swine and he wasn't there so I went fishing where you get the ancient fossil. I turn around five or ten minutes later and he spawned in as I was exiting out.
There is a gold hercudrome in the wildspire waste that only shows up at night. It is found at the very top of the map. Don’t remember which area though
Just adding a little tidbit, you can also catch the Ancient Fossil fish in the Elder's Recess, in the fishing area in the Northeast camp. For me, he was kind of hiding in the far back to the left.
Durring a hunt for the anjurath I saw a passive monster running away from something and on its back we’re these weird things jumping around, I immediately tried to catch them but I guess I missed lol so damn
Mr Skiffy, I haven't used any special baits for any of the rare fish, the trick is to cast out as far out as you can. The rare fish are usually right at the furthest spot. Another thing is to try and cast right on top of them (in front of their mouths), and they'll latch on right away. So far I've found the gastronome tuna and giant whetfish (got him in the corral highlands). Haven't been back to the ocean to try for the swordfish (which is the same as a marlin, other guy whom's name I didn't care to look at)
Probably not trophy related but I came across some differently colored pets a couple times. Found a red wiggler in the coral highlands, and a white with red markings rabbit creature (I forgot the name obviously) in the wildspire wastes.
I got lucky and found the Prism Hercudrome in my first couple hours of playing! Purely by accident. What do you mean by load spree? Still pretty new to monster hunter ^^’

Not trophy related noteworthy rare pets- Wiggler queen, giant vigorwasp, pilot hare, grandfather mantagrell, and dapper coralbird.

I like how at the beginning of the video you casually run by a Pilot Hare.

Downy Crakes can be found on the back of a Grandfather Mantagrell in the event quest Skyward Snipers. It’s very easy to get like 7 or 8 of them.
Also to note that I've also found the petricanth spawning in the Elder's Recess Notherwest Camp pool. If it spawn you can see it at the far left corner of the pool.

another rare pet is the emerald helmcrab, spawns only during rainy weather, and the giant vespifly

Prism Hercudrome isn’t limited to the ancient forrest.. I’ve found them in the Wildspire Wasteland, Coral Highlands and the Rotten Gale thus far.

I found those back riding chickens on Coral Highlands on the backs of those giant flying insects you can shoot down where you fight legania.
I found the prism hercudrome in the wild spire wastes in between the barroth "nest" and the big pack of gaiju.

Petricanth can be found in Elder's Recess as well. That is where I found mine. In the crystal caves near the northeast camp.
