The fox that you said was took the longest to catch (@ 1:15) I've walked by almost every single time I've spawned into the wild waste I've stood and checked him out five or six times I didn't know I could capture him lol
You can also find the Downy bird right outside camp 1 in the Wildspire Wastes. It similarly will be on the back of the (forget the name) "spiky tailed" renopolas. So just hop from Ancient Forest to Wildspire Wastes camp 1 and it will help streamline the process.
I was able to catch the living Fossil fish (black with glowing neon blue patches) in Elders Reach. There's a pool of water in the crystal cave with your camp and the tribal palicos. That's another spawn location if the rotten vale one isn't triggering. I was in High rank Elders Reach.
No real need to switch baits. I've caught all my greats and petricanth with standard bait. If they ignore your cast just real it back and cast it in front of them. If they get frantic just look at their swimming route and cast it ahead of the path.
True fact,Monster Hunter is one of the best games you can ever play,no other game challengers you like this game.Just got this game for the Xbox one after not playing this game in about 9 years on the PSP,I'm so happy I can hook online with other players,I only ever played up to 2 players on PSP as not much of my friends had PSPs when I was growing up,ahhh so many sweet memories of this game as a kid and a many screaming rage when at myself,my brother or at the monster when I lost.hahaha,shout out to all the other people out there who played this growing up. :) !!!
I disagree, I feel that as Monster Hunter is challenging, it's no where near challenging enough to be ranked among the most challenging. In my personal belief I do feel like Monster Hunter has the perfect mixture of challenge and reward, but this game is not as hard as the Souls/Borne games and it is definitely not more challenging than games of the past. I love Monster Hunter, I like world, but lets not exaggerate the difficulty. Honestly I'd say the main difficulty is learning curve to those who are new to the series.
You can catch petricanths in high rank. Don't stop pressing O when you press the direction and you'll catch faster. I'm hoping there are more pets that no one had found yet. I keep looking around elder recess expecting to see a hard to see crystal critter moving around.
The Moonlight Gecko is a rarity 4 pet and it spawns just outside of central camp 11 in rotten vale at night. you jump down to the middle platform and on the right where a lot of gloom gecko always are is where it spawns.
Btw you can actually catch a prism hurcudrome in the rotten vale, it's on the second level, near the second camp, try the one way exit at dawn or dusk.
You missed the queen wriggler, the gold hercudrome, the emerald helmcrab, the king marlin, the phantom flutterfly, the forest pteryx, the giant vigorwasp, and the augurfly,

You forgot about the moonlight gecko, I don't think there's a achievement for it I forgot but that gecko can be found in the rotten vale at night in the same spot you found those gloom geckos or in the volcano same spot where you find the gloom geckos
there are tons right besides the camp in rotten vale, instead of jumping down climb down the first ledge and there are maybe 8 to 10 them right behind you

I found those downy birds in the wild spire waste by the herbivore eggs. Pretty sure it was a glitch though since they were literally all spawned and trapped in the same spot. Like I got 4 or so with a single capture net throw lol

Oh the pink floopy eared one? Heh well I kind of hate to say it but it was really super easy for me to capture that little guy early on in the game. Just go to the Wildspare Waste. Equip the Ghilie Mantle and capture net after completing The Wildwaste Spare Rampage Main Quest line and either still doing the other two or one main quest-lines at HR 4-6 and it's yours! The little cutie can be captured at any given time during the mainquest for taking on the Anjanah after defeating Tobi-Kadaci hope that helps for those who gotten into the game a little later.
Giggle I enjoyed watching this video. You can also find that fish in camp 8 in Elder's Recess. When fishing you don't need bait for the fish to latch on and you can find the fish in high rank too. The Crake can also be found in Elder's Recess. Where Deviljho usually hangs area 5 out on top of the gastodons or in area 11 too.
not sure if you know or not, I actually just found this messing around but if you rod is in the water u can push the left joystick down (flick it down like you want to walk backwards) this will make the lure flick and the can lure in fish. dont do it to many times or you will scare the fish
Downy Crakes can also be found riding the slowly-hovering, firefly-like insects with many wings in the Coral map (those that you can't carve after you kill). You have to knock the insect down with a stone and quickly catch the crakes before they run away, preferably while wearing the ghillie suit.

I caught the Bristly Crake on accident, actually. I saw some weird black blob twitching in the corner right next to me so I threw my net at it and got a cheevo.
I had the greatest luck with the Downy Crake, I was just making my way round in the wasteland, when in a slight overhang of a cliff, I heard all this incessant chirping, I honestly thought it was in real life, cause I couldn't find the source, eventually in the overhang I found this wierd chirping grey blur. I didn't know what to do so I threw my net at it, it caught something; so I kept throwing till it stopped, turned out to be 8 Downy Crakes caught on the same section of wall blending their bodies (and irritating chirping) together. XD
I found the hecudrone completely by accident on my first or second expedition into the forest. Just looking around, and just happened to come across it at just the right time.
Wiggle your analog stick when fishing to attract the fish with your bobber, then circle to reel in. .. Changing bait is also super basic haha change it like you would ammo

When you see ants that are going to a mushroom colony next to a tree, the prism hercudrome can spawn there Edit: sorry it is actually a Basic hercudrome on the tree
you can also find the bristly crake outside of camp 1 in rotten vale just stick to the left and crawl under the first rock pass. there is a mosswine in there as well. Happy Hunting!!
I caught a ton of these downy birds because a whole pack was running into a crevice in a rock and could not get away, they were just sitting there twitching, I did not realize what they were so I netted them, caught a whole pack in a few throws of the net.
The petricanthus fish also spawns in the pool at camp 8 in elders recess left side of the pool actually got the joy of watching it spawn in front of me after watching the pool for a few minutes.
You can get the fish in Rotten Vale HR. Immediately after watching this video I jumped over to the expedition and, with the winds of luck kissing my bottom, found it first time. If you eat for "feyline fisher" it will skip the fishing minigame.
I also found another location for the prism herculdon, when you head down to Jyratudos area on Wildfire on the left hand stone mesa/platforms it is on a tree by one of the wedge beetle swings. I noticed it while swinging and I was like WTF is that what I think it is? And it was so I caught my second one XD. So you can fast travel between the ancient Forest to progress time to make sure you get a sunset timeframe to catch it in. Think it was the platform that had the Mining Outcrop under it.
You don't have to leave the whole expedition. Just leave the area (for instance area 15 for the fish) and then go back and everything resets. Saved me a lot of time!
So the spot you fished at at 7:40, I've caught out of there using the bug net instead of the fishing pole. It takes a few tries but there is a spot that lets you throw thorough the rock formation.
There is also a rare gecko that spawns near bright Moss. I actually found mine in the rotten Vale near Camp 11 just below it to the right. I don't know if that's the only place you can find it but flavor text says it eats bright mass to glow (neat huh?)
I don't know why I love hunting for pets, mostly because Monster Hunter is built around the whole "20 minute bossfight that usually doesn't give you much." Item, Granted that is A LOT of fun sometimes, It can be tiring and repetitive, so a break from that is really refreshing for me to be honest. Oh and, when your getting that fish. If you see a bigger fish that isnt the one your after, Catch it. It will drop Golden Scale+ thats worth 10000 zenny (money) each.
Have you found the Giant Honey Wasp ? If not, you can find him in the Ancient Forest under or in a big tree... The tree where the big Dino sleep ( do not remember the name ) ... Believe me : it is HUGE ... With the Honey, it is as big as us ... I love this thing in my room ... Sometimes it pop ( or it is a bug to see him without honey)
Used this video to try and capture some rare pets. Spawned into Rotten Vale Camp 11 and found a beautiful gecko called a moon light gecko or something like that it was just as you jump to the first ledge not even all the way down in the group of other geckos. It's extremely hard to miss it is bright purple and a blueish black color as well. It wasn't in either video so just wanted to know if it was actually rare or not
Kj Bradley I’ve caught both the one that sprints around and the one that stands still. The running one will sprint in circles in your room if you put it in there as a pet
just got mine in the spot showed in the video on high rank so low or high rank doesnt mather took me a few attempt of finding it tho but he was there, now time to look for that puffy bird on the pig
Just so you know, I went out looking for the two Crakes just this morning and found them BOTH immediately, I think 🤔 it's because I was using the Butterfly α set with Geology charm, although I think 🤔 it's mostly because of the Foragers Luck 🍀 skill on that set, it's actually a good set for gathering especially if you use the Geology charm fully upgraded 😊 Also, some people say that you should leave your Palico behind, whether that's true or not I can't say, looking at your video it looks untrue, but I didn't take my Palico, not exactly sure if that helped or not 😂
You don't need to use fishing rod to catch fish. Capture net works too. If aimed right, can catch multiple fish with one shot. However, it does scare the rest of the fish away. Its how I got the loving fossil fish. Lol.
Here a tip to catch those types of fish keep pressing cycle even if you don't see u have to but remember to pull when it tell u and for the fish it doesn't matter high or low rank
I was helping my brother farm Odogaron and Great Girros in high rank...since we kinda pushed him through it low rank all the way to high rank. So his armor wasn't the best. Went over to that pond, the fish was actually in it, so I caught it. It feels good not to be looking for something then finding it xD. Just like those one Downy Crakes.
You guys know you can also just throw the capture net in the water and catch it that way? Much easier and no need to play the catching minigame. Hope that helps.

I found both the bird and fish in the same session on high rank in an hour. I had the Beatle already. I randomly found the red rabbit. Still can't find the birds in the forrest.

The ancient fish never spawned for me in rotten vale. Its way better to catch it in elders recess camp (8), it basically spawns in the pool in the camp

Monster hunter has more of a grind but honestly the game is fairly easy imo it's just farming simulator

First monster hunter I’ve played and there’s so much to learn and it’s pretty complicated but that doesn’t stop me learning step by step.
i just caught the great goldenfish in that pond in rotten vale while looking for the other fish with them spots.
when the fish aren't biting, you can use the capture net.

There is a running cactus on the second map you unlock. It is really hard to catch. Took me quite a while to catch it.
That cactus have a great damage for killing diablos 😂

Used this video to try and capture some rare pets. Spawned into Rotten Vale Camp 11 and found a beautiful gecko called a moon light gecko or something like that it was just as you jump to the first ledge not even all the way down in the group of other geckos. It's extremely hard to miss it is bright purple and a blueish black color as well. It wasn't in either video so just wanted to know if it was actually rare or not

just got mine in the spot showed in the video on high rank so low or high rank doesnt mather took me a few attempt of finding it tho but he was there, now time to look for that puffy bird on the pig
I got the beetle in Coral Highlands, and caught the fish on HR Rotten Vale.
Just so you know, I went out looking for the two Crakes just this morning and found them BOTH immediately, I think 🤔 it's because I was using the Butterfly α set with Geology charm, although I think 🤔 it's mostly because of the Foragers Luck 🍀 skill on that set, it's actually a good set for gathering especially if you use the Geology charm fully upgraded 😊
Also, some people say that you should leave your Palico behind, whether that's true or not I can't say, looking at your video it looks untrue, but I didn't take my Palico, not exactly sure if that helped or not 😂
The fish will spawn in Rotten Vale during high rank expedition. I caught it last night unknowingly. Thought it was a Platinum Fish haha
You don't need to use fishing rod to catch fish. Capture net works too. If aimed right, can catch multiple fish with one shot. However, it does scare the rest of the fish away. Its how I got the loving fossil fish. Lol.
Here a tip to catch those types of fish keep pressing cycle even if you don't see u have to but remember to pull when it tell u and for the fish it doesn't matter high or low rank
I was helping my brother farm Odogaron and Great Girros in high rank...since we kinda pushed him through it low rank all the way to high rank. So his armor wasn't the best. Went over to that pond, the fish was actually in it, so I caught it. It feels good not to be looking for something then finding it xD. Just like those one Downy Crakes.

Reconfirming that the spotted fish spawned on my first trip into Rotten Vale on low rank and never appear in any HR expeditions.
You guys know you can also just throw the capture net in the water and catch it that way? Much easier and no need to play the catching minigame. Hope that helps.

i caught a great pink ( which looks kinda black actually) a swordfish size version of the little pink one,it actually broke the line once but i got it
I just caught the Petricanth and I did on low rank, apparently you may have to put it on Low Rank in order to catch certain rare pets.
I've seen the red hare so many times but was never ready for it and it always got away
The red bunny you said was hard to find I think was the first creature I caught.
My question is. Is there a way in-game to get hints (hunter's guide, npc researcher or anything) on where and when to find these? Or is it just random luck to be there at the right place at the right moment? Really appreciate it I can't find anything on this except spoiler guides.
The speckled fish does appear in high rank. The first time I got it, i was doing high rank quests

oh i had no clue about rare pets, but i caught the prism hercudrome in the coral area.
It doesnt matter if your in high or low rank for the petricanth and it will only ever spawn in the pool you caught it in

I found both the bird and fish in the same session on high rank in an hour. I had the Beatle already. I randomly found the red rabbit. Still can't find the birds in the forrest.
I’m happy I’m not crazy I just got MHW for PC and I saw the pink hare and I didn’t catch it but I was like was that one a different color and it never spawned again so I figured it was a rare spawn glad to know how to get them bow
The ancient fish never spawned for me in rotten vale. Its way better to catch it in elders recess camp (8), it basically spawns in the pool in the camp
I caught the fish in HR.. Just been teleporting between rotten vale and ancient forest
Don't forget to get you a Gloom Gecko in the rotten vale! they hide by Brightmoss

So i was in ancient forest, and i was crawling into the northwest camp and im pretty sure i saw one of those cute hares, but it was coverd in spikes or some shit? Havent seen it since, but i havent tried to repeat similar situation. Can anyone confirm what i saw? Am i trippin?

I got the "living fossil" 3 times on HR... i dont know about spawn chance, but HR/LR as far as actually spawning, it spawns in HR
