In this video I test out and demo the IK Multimedia ARC System 3. This is an IK Multimedia Arc System 3 review. The Arc system 3 helps correct problems in your speakers and room acoustics to help you mix better. The system comes with the MEMS microphone that works with the system to measure your room and speaker acoustics and provide an analysis that helps you mix better. If you don’t have acoustic treatment in your home studio, the Arc System 3 could help you. The Arc System 3 is $249 for the software and microphone.

The best thing about this review is your undeniably beautiful voice. Always good to hear you sing. You are a blessed man, and gifted with a great singing voice. Enjoy it, may the world be blessed with it.
Wow...thanks so much, Okay1! What did you think about the Arc mixes?
Your voice sounds AMAZING! Love the songs you’re singing. You’re so talented SanjayC!
Thank you Jyoti!
First I watched it on my smartphone so I couldn't fully appreciate the before/after mixing. Then I just listened with my monitor speakers and for sure I can hear the big difference. Sweet! I also appreciate your honesty that this tool won't replace mixing skills, these are a most for all of us to develop over time. Cheers!
Glad you could hear the difference. But yes, we all need to keep improving our mixing skills :-)
It really help fix the low end I'm gonna get it just because of this review.
The difference is really there! Good job man, great video and great studio upgrade!
Glad you think so!
So glad I found this page! Waiting on the video of acoustic treatments
Yes...its coming soon!
The ARC system 3 sounds like a great solution to an untreated, home studio. For the people who do want to soundproof their studio, it'd be great to see your tips on doing that!
I agree!
I just listened your video with Bose earbud and you can tell the difference more than any other headphone or else. Yep it's in my bucket list now.
just subscribed to your channel. the difference is huuuuuge on my Neumann KH310 monitors. the low mids were really lacking on your mixes without the eq correction. really interesting plugin! my room is partially treated but will definitely try ARC3 after watching your video. thanks!
Another great video. Love your voice. This was most helpful.
Thank you! :-D
As always great video!!
Having a garden studio built as we speak and can't wait to try out my newly bought Arc 3 system. 😎
Hey Sanjay, I gotta say your voice is so beautiful and therapeutic!!!
Thank you so much 😀
Been using arc2 for a few years and it is extremely reliable, definitely getting the upgrade
Nice! Do you use it on all your mixes? Do you ever mix without it?
@@SanjayC I use it when I'm mixing on my monitors and take it off when I'm mixing through headphones.
Just bought Sonarworks package myself, glad I did as I’ve been taking out more 200-300 hz because of the frequencies in my room.
Nice!
The mix with ARC 3 really enhanced the detail, attack and breadth of the bass instruments. And coming from my bass-player-ears, that's a great sign! 😂 Great video!
Thanks, Patrick!
Andddddddd..
I just love your content..
I love the way you explain things..
You’re the Bestttt♥️
Thanks, Thoshi!
Gullfoss + Arc = More Bedroom Producers Music in the market . Now , that’s a win win for me
Oh yeah...Gullfoss is a true winner. I can't live without that plugin!
Thanks for this info, i will do it manually with my system.
Cool! Do you have a treated room?
Good to see this video 😊😊😊 timestamps is very helpful bro, nice
What did you think about the Arc mixes?
@@SanjayC nice, can you tell about best syth plugins 2020? Bro:)
This was great- loving your video production too dude. I was looking at getting the iLoud Micro Monitors because I was thinking a smaller monitor might result in better mixes in my room but stumbled across ARC3. While I'll still likely get the iLoud's, I'll probably get ARC3 first as it will likely have the most direct result on my mixes. Cheers! 🙌
Wow! didin't know about this, and it's so much cheaper than modifying the room. I'm going to try this in the future.
And yeah! it's interesting the headphones correction, I usually hear my mixes in different headphones, but it would be great to have different perspectives just with a plugin, at least when I'm not at home.
Thanks for the video!
You're very welcome, Juan! Glad you found it useful!
Your version of I Can’t Go For That is soo good. If only you had a full version somewhere so everyone could listen to it.
Thanks, Michael! I should finish recording the full version!
I’m most like going to buy this. I have treatment but I got the window, wall issue. I never knew anything like this existed.
Hi Leah! Let me know if it helps you out
Thank you, very helpful
hi, thanks for your advice and i will buy next week for my production. You're great. Have a nice week.
Thanks, you too!
@@SanjayC welcome
+1000 points for laying down some Hall & Oats ! (Great info also , of course 😎)
Haha...thanks! :-D
It's called technology,Arc system 3 really works, the mix with it was cool and smooth
Glad you think so. Have you ever tried Arc or Sonarworks?
Love your voice sir...
Love from India🇮🇳
Thank you so much! Love to India!
Hey, Sanjay! Love the content. Keep the good work😁😊
Thank you so much 😁 What did you think about the Arc mixes?
Really great👌
You should make covers of songs😊
Great and thanks for the mix comparisons vs only talk.
I'm glad it was helpful!
cool video as always!
Thanks! What did you think about the Arc mixes?
@@SanjayC they definitely sounded better. but like you said it wont make your bad mix good though. you should know what you are actually doing with mixing which you are really good at already:)
That's a neat piece of gear!
Yes, its really cool
Wow! Pretty cool!!
Thanks!
you are the best sir.
Thanks so much, Rameez!
I was listening to this through a set of dynamic jbl headphones I definitely heard the difference
Nice!
I definitely heard the difference !
Sweet!
Wow ur back
I emerge every weekend to bring you the latest!
Very good video , as we can see on your set up the left speaker generates way more bass in your room, almost around +12 db around 40 hz being in the corner which is huge, while the right one is a bit more attenuated but still with bass frequence issues. Like you too i had an issue with the highs as well as im not in a treated room when from 2 khz and even more from 5 khz up to 20 it was giving around -3 db less. Arc fixed all this more or less and with the edit option i was able to tweak even more. Now what they are just missing on the edit tab is to give a Q to give even more details. Maybe on version 4 hehe.
Hey Sanjay C Sir,
This video was really helpful because I am just starting to make music and collecting the gear I need.
But I don't have an acoustic treated place to work with.
I guess this might solve my problem!
Thank You for uploading this video!
You're very welcome!
Thank you!
You're welcome!
The second one sounds professional
Nice version of the hall & Oats tune 👏🏾
Thanks os much!
It brings a big difference sir
Yes, I think so too.
I wish I could get it sir right now it is out of my price range sir
ARC 3 is a game changer. If you are thinking about upgrading, do it. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks for sharing your experience!
Oh I got a video idea for you, how about explaining export settings in Ableton but not liked those normal you know this is this, actually I want a detailed explanation on which bitrate and dither options are on different platforms it may be a CD or streaming services like that. In short :- explaining about exporting audio in Ableton Live 10
Edit: I also noticed your channel have increased by 20000 subscribers. That's awesome🌟🌟♥️
Hey Gamer G! That's a nice idea. i'll think about that video
Great video Sanjay 😉 avantone mixcubes are also a great additional tool (studio monitors) to help your mixes translate well!
Yes, I've been wanting to try those!
@@SanjayC You def should, I own a pair, you'll be surprised how flat it sounds. And I'm sure it will look great with the rest of your setup ;-)
Whoa those monitors are crazy
Yeah, the monitors are sooo good
Very cool! Your mix sounds great. & ARC 3 is much cheaper than acoustifying a new house 😂
Yeah, some of that good acoustic treatment is sooo expensive. Do you have your room treated?
nice vocals!
Thank you so much!
version with arc is unnaturally hyped in the low end. hearing them back-to-back, honestly the mix sounds more balanced without.
Sanjay rocking the Prime Basics XLR cables. A man with common sense who likes things within 24 hrs. :) Thought the Arc 3 aided mix sounded much better to my preference.
Good to hear that you liked them better too.
I'd never know a thing like this ever existed if not for you @ Sanjay C, appreciate your work..... Also, could you please review the Hydra Synth, only if possible 😁
Oh man...I would love to try the Hydra Synth. I need to save up some $$$ :-D
@@SanjayC A reply from 'the Man' himself already made my day, I wish I could send one to you only if I could own one first 😁
Thanks, Elmer! If you eventually get one...I'll come knocking on your door to review it!
@@SanjayC Your always welcome to my humble home, it would be such an honor, but I am from India which is pretty far 😁
OK...maybe when I visit India then :-) Thank you!
Waiting for that ultimate Monitor comparison...
Still waiting on a few monitors. COVID is delaying things a lot!
@@SanjayC Well, nature needed a break. No problem.
Cool, means we'll get the video 😎
Just installed System 3 to replace Sonarworks. I like your song. It sounds like Hall & Oates (I can't go for that).
Hey Mr. Sanjay C. I have the IKM ARC 3 for the speakers (Yamaha HS8) and did the room calibration but I have been looking into the SonarWorks and I have say that's an awesome Application based on the trial versions. I did test the headphone but couldn't for the room but based on your review it seem like going with the premium package for SonarWorks is the better way to go. What's your take.
I'm disappointed with my self for not being first.Great video btw loved it
Next time! How are you doing?
#norificationsquad Is here. Hey sanjay!! happy Sunday !! You gotta share the secret of arranging curtains when you visit india.Great insight on room treatments. Have a good day bro. 😍
🤣
LOLOL! Get your curtains ready bro...I'm bringing mad skillz!!
@@SanjayC yes sir.
Your preference sonarworks vs arc 3... choose one
Bro you killed the cover song🔥🔥🔥🔥
First thing I thought of as you were talking about this was how some higher end home audio systems have mics that can do similar tests. I'll have to look into the mic I should have access to and see if it's compatible! Because my room is so not treated XD
Yes, definitely check if you have a compatible mic first. :-D
And of course Sonarworks also has room correction software. As for the difference, I preferred the bass response of the after Arc 3 mix and the treble response of the before Arc 3 mix. I am also surprised that you don't see the point in having headphone correction software. Just like a room, headphones can also hype the treble and suppress the bass or vice versa. Headphone correction give you a flatter response, which is good for mixing on headphones. I have Sonarworks and Slate VSX and really do prefer Slate VSX by a long way.
Wow you're a good singer
Thank you so much
You can also download a sine wave sweep "Low to High Freq" and listen for dips or spikes in volume. If there is a dip add a bump on an EQ on your master fader in that same place. Do the opposite if you hear a louder spike and pull down the EQ at that freq. Repeat until the Sine Wave sweep has a consistent perceived volume across the entire range of the Sine wave sweep. If you have the money to get something like this it would be better and easier. Where Sanjay said he didn't know why you would want to correct a pair of headphones is not an accurate statement and makes me believe he doesn't understand what the software is doing. It's EQ'ing so you hear a flat response and just like speakers headphones can be inaccurate.
Yeah but the issue is bigger than that. Even if you can tell certain areas where there are nulls, you can't EQ yourself out of it. This requires time delaying one of the speakers to make sure phasing/SBIR ca. Nodes/peaks, yeah sure, you can 100% correct for that via EQ.
I tried Sonarworks reference 4 it worked fine for me.
Do you use it every time you mix? Do you ever mix without it?
@@SanjayC I only had a trial version so I'm back to normal now.
1.is it normal that the trim knob floats to the red side?Because The Sound is Very Low.
2.Do I Need To Switch off the software when im Using My Headphones ?
Thank You Sincerly
Hey Sanjay, I use the Sonarworks with my Beyerdynamic dt 770 pro headphones. I use it because I dont mix on speakers - not that I dont want to - it's just that I live in such circumstances where I can't set-up studio monitors yet (hopefully it will change soon). Sonarworks has a saved profile for the DT 770s and once you put it on your master bus, it flattens the curve just like ARC did for your monitors. The plug-in does help in making mixes that translate better on other speakers/headphones
So do you think that after you mix on your DT770s + Sonarworks, that the mix sounds better everywhere else?
@@SanjayC In my opinion, yes it does
Is there a way to direct the audio out of my Mac through arc in orders to listen to RUclips and Spotify as well, sonically corrected?
Just saw this video, thank you. A quick question though, you only turned OFF the inside ON button (the one on top of the trim dial), but it is still enable in the mixing panel (where you insert plugins), OR, you totally disable the entire ARC? Like you removed it from the mixing panel before bouncing? Thank you.
How's it going? I'm currently in a partial treated control room and record only vocals in an isolation booth or portable chamber. Would you recommend this over it's competitors? And will it make a difference even though my room is partially treated? I also have my home studio in the basement with concrete walls which is nice because sound can't escape.
how does this compare with sonarworks? which one is better?
This video was amazing
(every one of your videos) LOL
Thanks so much Gab! What did you think about the Arc mixes?
I used headphones 🎧 when I saw the video and it was surprisingly good. I had never thought that the results would be that good ;-)
Wow...even good on your headphones! Awesome!
Wow!!! This is awesome☺️☺️☺️☺️😄😄
How did the mixes sound on your speakers?
sanjay! how about the TRIM knob? in my sistem when the plugin is ON i have a drop in the audio signal
What's better fot purchasing on your opinion, arc 3 system or the iloud mtm speakers?, I mean l, can I get the same results just using only the arc 3 system with my presonus Eris 3.5 speakers?
You can of course also use such a software for already treated rooms, because you'll never get a room completely flat.
I use Sonarworks Studio Edition and see a huge difference also in my treated room.
The headphone calibration there is also nice, and if you don't wanna use it just disable Sonarworks.
Very true. What headphones do you use with Sonarworks?
@@SanjayC I use Sennheiser HD 650 and Beyerdynamics DT 770 Pro.
Without letting your headphones calibrate by Sonarworks it's of course only an average calibration profile you then use.
Can you use this plugin while mixing with a pair of headphones? or it is just for acoustic room treatment.
Thank you for this! What about other measurement mics without calibration file? Can we trust them? After calibration with Omnitronic MM-1C my system has killing high end! It's hard to work more than 10 min! But it sound very transparent, I cant go back ;)
What if I break the mic and why would I need 3 measuring mics?
Head of notification squad
Sup Hassan! Squad leader in the house!
Sanjay C but what makes one head or leader of the squad, eh? Mmmmmmm 🤔
hey Sanjay, do you mix with the trim pot turned up?
I thought both mixes were really good, but preferred the ARC 3 mix . It seemed to enhance the low mid / high bass region. Lots of rooms are "boomy". conversely, cars have such odd angles and no really pronounced reflective surfaces, except the windshield, so I can see where this would help. I wonder if the mic is good enough for just using normally.
Flexin the no shoes or socks speakers....Yea after the correction it seemed to open up the mid highs and low end punch came through
This the gear I've never seen sir
Yeah, its pretty cool, right?
The grave became more full and the treble more soft
Is hard to tell if is good or bad
The way you have done the teste ; the sound in your car e more flat than you home system ?
I use Sonarworks for a while now. The best thing is that you can calibrate your headphones and when switching between monitors and headphones in the process you don’t have that drastic difference in sound because of headphones coloring vs neutral monitor flat curve. As well they have systemwide solution so you can fix any sound coming from your computer not just from the DAW
Yes, I noticed that. Do you use it when casually listening to music?
Sanjay C Yes, it just gives more consistency. However I wish there would be a hardware solution like some kind of monitor controller that would take the processing away from the computer and it could probably give even less latency and more streamlined user experience. Thank you for your video 🙏 - I wasn’t aware even there are alternatives for Sonarworks solution
Big fan from bangladesh
Hey Rj Gaming! How are you?
Fine. sir and you?
Does the ARC3 add any latency when playing live some VST (besides sound interface latency)? Thanks
may i use a sm57 as mic for the arc?
hi, what desk are you usuing?
Is Arc 3 systemwide ?
2:45 SATISFYING EXPRESSION 😁
LOLOL!! How's it going my friend? How are the NI plugins?
@@SanjayC they soo good and I love em, thank you
I know that arc 3 must be on the master channel as last plugin but do i have to desable it before mixdown?
Yes
Hi Sanjay, I've been wanting to build my own home studio for a long time but dont really have the budget to start out. Are there any free DAWs and plugins or anything i can use to start off?
Yes! Watch this ruclips.net/video/k1-sS5P0SCo/видео.html
Hi, can it use for listening spotify, etc? Thanks
Sanjay what is your mastering chain for your songs ? a future video about mastering would be nice
Two things - Izotope Ozone and Gullfoss. Done. I've made videos on both!
That’s you in the beginning ? Love it, you got albums for sale?
hey Jbird, yes that's me - I always just share my own music and vocals :-) I have one original song on Spotify open.spotify.com/artist/3haWCZpRUHxXfTCyKdguc2
Sanjay C I will check it out.
Nice. I use TB Morphit for headphone mixing on iOS. I’m usually mixing with Apple Earbuds. 🤷🏾♂️🤣
💯
I almost bought a DriveRack PA2 which does similar things in a live PA. My mixes sound the same to me regardless of the sound source. However, I can easily see what the ARC system can do. Your tracks were great already; then you flipped the switch, and the mix suddenly sounded more balanced. The bottom end was clearer, and your vocals nestled into the track like a head on a pillow. It could be the missing piece for home creators to sound more professional.
That's such a great way to describe the difference!!! :-D Yeah, I feel the same way. I think if I hadn't spent so much time mixing the original version and just heard the ARC version - it would've been an immediate choice for me.
Well, it is hard to produce a flat response hphone and those that are closest are expensive, why in ear tends to be favoured for accuracy at a more reasonable price point. Correcting hphones doesn't work to well though unless their near-ish flat to begin with , as the filters can't match shapes without affecting other frequency's around the main correction points. Why correction systems works best in treated rooms that need smaller corrections. Having said that, if your rooms off and your going to be making bad mixes as a result. You will get you nearer with correction if not solve your problem of trying to attain the perfect listening environment.
This is a weird question but do I use while I'm mixing or after the mix?
Use it while mixing. otherwise you'll be going back and fixing things you thought were already fixed.
