The organ has a large setter system, which has capabilities beyond the functions of a standard Setter, any coupling (eg Quint and Octave couplers) and register extracts (eg, Terz Bass 6 4/5 ', Septime 4 4/7' etc.) are also programmable to expand the possibilities of registration
I never tire of listening to this wonderful piece of music.
Esta música es de una gran delicadeza!! Interpretada con mucho tacto y sentimiento!! Thanks!!💖
Completely overwhelming performance. Jonathan plays Bach with such feeling and respect.
Jonathan is such a musical player and his numerous transcriptions are always a joy to listen to. I always appreciate the high quality of Tom's videos and Jonathan's playing on them.
Maravilhosa peça do mestre dos mestres JSBach na interpretação excelente de Jonathan Scott.
Thank you both for another wonderful performance, on this sumptuously-sounding organ. And that glass! Wow!
My word! What a beautiful space, a beautiful piece, and a wonderful performance! Thank you for taking us along - wonderful!
What a wonderful sound, the music was heavenly and the ambience superb. Thank you for a great performance.
On a business trip in Berlin some years ago I had a spare afternoon and wandered into this memorial church - its hard to explain the impact inside when surrounded by these immense walls of a blue light shot through with flecks of green, red and gold -breathtaking.
An organist was playing/practicing and the music just filled the room. I sat for over an hour as did many others. Never forgotten that afternoon.
I left Berlin today from a field trip and just called the local organist if i can play and he just said its okay so i played an hour this morning on such an great organ
@@vongross3720 Your are a lucky man! I'm sure you enjoyed it.
@@epincion exactly what i did

Wow, gorgious yet again!!!
You made me cry. Much feeling.
Thank you!!
Wow, what a reflective piece of music!! It was so heart-stopping I almost had to stop listening. Thank you for such beautiful music.
Very moving. Thank you, Jonathan and Tom. 👍 💖
Beautifully played and filmed. A splendid instrument in a perfect setting.
Wunderschönes Video, gut gespielt, wie immer. Herzlichen Dank
A beautiful piece for reflection. I heard melancholy to start, then an inner struggle find to strength, finally resolving to contentment. Inspiring as always. 🎹🎶
What a treat and the organ appears suspended in mid-air!
멋진연주 아름다운 소리 감사합니다,,,from KOREA
Some Stokowski nostalgy behind that transcription? Very well, and my favourite church in Berlin with all that stained glass and a particular acoustic. Thank you very well.
Magnifique prestation très bien joué sur un orgue merveilleux félicitations amitiés Gérard 🎼👍🥂🎹🎶👍
Superb. Who says you shouldn’t use a swell box with Bach anyway!
Rigid unmusical people who play by the book rather than by letting the music speak to them :-)
It depends on the rendition! If you were to play it by the standards of the 1703 Wender organ in Arnstadt where Bach was Thomas cantor, the "swell box" is non-existent, therefore playing with swellings is sacrilegious. Also, the playing with the stops - or should I say toying - is not original. On the few occasions where Bach made stop suggestions, he did not do them as direct or proliferated as the french romantic organ composers.
If Bach would have known these modern things, he defnetly would have used them!
Is this the mezzanine level on one's journey to Heaven? Just STUNNING!
Wonderful, beautiful sound.
Wunderbar! Sehr gut gespielt! Vielen Dank!
What a magnificent cathedral! I love the light coming through the blue glass. The facade of pipes is thrilling. Come to Naples FL . I can pick you up at the airport!
Sehr schön die Aufnahmen gefallen mir sehr gut. Vielen Dank. Ingrid Schleich
Beautifully done.
Many thanks.
What an array of pipes!
Brilliant and well done after so many years dec 2020
Virgil Fox was sitting with you, smiling that angelic smile of his when he was transported by Bach.
Wonderful
LOVELY!
Believe it or not I have never bee in the Gedaechtnis Kirche. I must do it next time I go. A beautiful recording and video from Tom of Jon's rendition of this beautiful stately piece. I enjoyed your chamber concert at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden and am looking forward to Rochdale on 18th December for your Christmas concert.
Thank you for posting this performance. My wife and I are both church organists in the UK, and visited this church a few years, but weren’t able to play this organ at that time. Maybe we will on our next visit, if we can be invited!
Just call the local organist and i am pretty sure it will work because thats the way i took and it worked. This morning i played on it and it wqs great.
Блестящий!
My friend in high school that had few words, called Mozart "happy Bach", because Mozart didn't really like minor keys very much. I guess you could interpret it as usually being quite anxious, I heard Bach liked his laudanum. Lol. I really love the Liberty Bell March. Wurlitzer's can be a whole lot of fun. You can add a bit of comedy and expression, and lyrical, fantastic, touches. I was a horn and woodwind player, so I can identify with the humourous antics of music. They are for a specific purpose.
💕🍀
It appears to me, that the pedal voices were insufficient since they have added so many digital stops.
Its rare for an organ to have more than one vox Humana stop.
Ja zeig den mal wie Orgel spielen geht
How is this church still allowed to stand, given its "problematic" name? Surely we Germans should be "reinterpreting" it to make it more palatable and "less problematic" to the British?! You know: following the examples set by museum trustees, BLM, and the National Trusts of England and Scotland.
