Actually in the early to mid 90s there was a small tiny foodcourt so to speak. It was where Burlingtons is. Back then there were some smaller stores there instead of one big one and there was a small exit area for the mall there in a hallway. in it we had 2 or 3 choices for food. Not huge but id count it a tiny food court. I remember having New York pizza at some little food shop in that exit hallway that was good. They had some type of wallpaper that was a b/w photos of New York City at night. Was fun.
Thank you for this video. As far as I can tell, one of my earliest memories was in this mall. It seems like I was walking with my parents past what may have been a Burger King inside the mall. And besides that I just have all kinds of memories of stores that have come and gone through here. I am 39 now, and have been to this mall on and off for 30+ years.
Its shocking to see a big mall like that have no food court and that the only places to eat there were Chick fil a before it closed down and Applebees.
I remember going here a lot when I was a young child back in 2006-2010, when all three anchor stores were open. The place was full of life. Now it's just a relic of a bygone era.
This mall is in an interesting situation. Inline tenants seem mostly occupied, although there are a few scars of national retailers. The anchor situation is concerning, and I think that if they don’t fix things fast things could go south.
The Nirthgate Mall in San Rafael, CA fits into your "Northgate curse", there's talk of a Costo in the, every so common, Sears' vacancy. What that would do to/for the mall, time will tell.
Jcpennys and Sears were always anchor stores and most Sears are gone now.I recently heard about some Pennys closing too.Its just crazy how things happen like that.I like Penny's alot too. That is very sad about the lady that crashed into the building and died 😢 RIP
The Sears corridor reminds me of the Richland Mall in Waco Texas. It looks very similar. Northgate Mall in Lafayette Louisiana also suffers from the Northgate name curse. That mall is nearly empty and has no retail anchors left. I am not sure if the interior of that mall is even open anymore.
Last time I was at the mall last year to film, the Chick Fil A was open and busy and I ate at it for lunch while I was there. I didn't know that it has since closed, it was really the only place left to eat in the mall.
That old Hot Topic is beautiful
My parents taught me how to ride my bicycle at Northgate Mall parking lots in the late 70s.

Northgate never had a buger king inside. That would have been Eastgate Mall
@@BN-jq2kc either I was actually in Eastgate or got the restaurant wrong in Northgate then.

The Chick Fil is still open and the applebees is gone.
The mall still looks the same just less stores now. Very sad state.

Used to be great. Swiss Colony store was my favorite. Cheese samples!
Also this northgate has the highest occupancy for any mall named Northgate
I’ve been going to this mall for years and I remember when it used to be super busy and now it’s dead every time I go it’s very very sad 😢
Same here. I still like the vibe in there though, haha
@Cameron W Heyyyy what’s up?! We’re watching the same videos lol
It’s not really dead they just made all the stores have outside access.
I miss the dollar store they had

Somehow still holding out
Great video doomie grunt

I don't think it was that bad of a Mall. I enjoyed the lighting... :)
Another’s great video Doomie!

When did the Chick-Fl-A close? They usually don't hang out in dead malls. Maybe they need to change the name to Northlake? The one here is doing okay

Dennis W my mall is dead and it has a chick fa lay in it
It’s still there I went here about 3 weeks ago.
Can you check out the New Midland Plaza in Maryville?
I'll look into it. We have so many targets & a rapidly shifting economy (even through "it"), so I can't guarantee anything, though.
Go to the Mercer Mall video and then check my comment about JCPenny
Also i think that shopping center had the first ever Proffit’s!
Good video.Thanks.
They should turn the old JCPenney for parking and a mall entrance
Nothing better than a Northgate Mall lmaoo.
the bgm is too loud that I can barely hear what you want to say.
First to watch
