I really love your videos
I live in Anderson, SC and some of my memories of going to this mall is going to KB Toys as well as Sam Goody/FYE to buy the latest CDs or DVDs. This mall also used to have a theater and an arcade next to the food court but now all of the things that made this mall fun to go to and gave it some character are gone and the mall is just a boring shell of its old self. At this point, I don't even know if this mall is the cool place where all the teenagers hang out on the weekends.
The best mall that is closest to us would be the Haywood Mall in Greenville, SC which is about 30-45 minutes away.
Thanks for sharing!
Yeah Haywood mall is where it’s at
Good video.Thanks.
Such a shame how a mall gets ruined by crime. Great video.
Apparently that JCPenney store in the Anderson Mall came close to being closed for good. But the decision to close the store was ultimately reversed in June 2020, and to my knowledge it’s still there.
As for the rest of the mall, I remember there used to an arcade right in the food court when I was younger, and there was even a cinema attached to the side of the building that has been closed for as long as I can remember.
Washington Prime negotiated A reduced rent extension for JCPenney that would allow them to stay there for another five years, with the reduced rent, along with their still remaining of Prior term 3 years. They will then have to renegotiate it again but it will probably be underneath new ownership because Washington Prime went bankrupt and the mall is now being managed by Woodmont Property Group out of Fort Worth Texas. However, good news is that it is at 85% occupancy according to Woodmont.
When I was a kid in the late 70s visiting family in Anderson SC we always had to go to the mall. I think there used to be a hobby shop on the left side as you exited JC Penney to go into the mall. I used to get all kinds of model cars and stuff to make there. When I got older I made the 452 mile trip in 1988 by myself to visit my relatives. I went to Anderson Mall and that's where I bought my girlfriend back at home a promise ring from a jewelry store in there. We married in 1989 and we're still together. I haven't been back to Anderson in maybe 25 years. I really loved that whole area. I miss it and my family.
I had many good times there as a kid. There used to be an Arcade in the food court before it closed in the late 90`s . Also their JC Penny store was recently closed. Its unfortunately a matter of time before it completely closes I feel
One of the big problems with the anchors at Northgate is if you go to buy something very frequently you get a "we'll have to order this from our Hamilton Place store it will be here tomorrow". Hamilton Place is only about 20 minutes away so a lot of people just started going there.

I ended up in the Anderson mall last month and it was depressing, only 5 people were there, the food court is pretty much gone, and a lot of the stores are gone, leaving it 99% empty, I guess COVID-19 raped it to emptiness.
I remember it when it opened. There was a “Victorian gaslight” themed wing with a lot of plants that was very impressive. I always begged my parents to take us to the Piccadilly Cafe.
Years later I saw the premier of Animal House there. Lots of good memories, but all things come to an end. C’est la vie.
There is a north gate mall closing in nc coincidentally

Northgate is another mall I started going to as a kid and ended up with my wife with me tere. We quit going in the late 90s. It started dying thanks to the trashy thieves that started going there.
Both of em just look so... plain. I suppose not much harm done in making this a double feature.
Carpet in malls! Enraging!!! Ha!
