I remember TCM before it was remodeled back in 1990. I was an older motif, but was very relaxing and earthy and made you feel at home. Some of the older stores that were there: Dino's, Bankhardt's mens store (my dad bought his dress clothes for the office there), Wilson Paints, Recordtown, Pogues and then L.S Ayres, Oak Tree (near what was Shillitoes), Brendamore's sports, Sporting Foot and Things, Spencer Gifts, GAP (was an awesome place in its time), there was a steak house in front of Sears but can't remember it's name, then a Gordon's Jewelers and then next to it was Lane Bryan that my loved to go to as she is very tall (I remember getting lost in the racks of clothes there), than a Merry Go Around that sold the teenager mod-type clothes, then a cigar store where the food court was, there was a pet store and then a Savings and Loan and then a Burkhart's store, Nine West, and then Kroger was there and occupied what was Dillard's before the remodel, a furniture store that had two levels and was next to the McDonald's in the corridor closer to Shillitoe's, Waldenbooks (loved that store), American Eagle Outfitters, Bachrach's where I bought all my suits and had good sales, S.S. Kresge which had a great cafeteria with great hamburgers at the time, there was a salon right in front of what became Lazarus, Things Remembered, and then a Hickory Farms. There was also a men's store between the GAP and Spencer's but can't remember its name and then a KayBee toy store. I believe the women's store in front of Pogue's was a Limited, but not sure. There was a pub that while my mother spent my dad's money he would stop in and have a beer. They had at the time a modern big-screen TV that I was cool.
They had recessed resting area's throughout the mall where many of a man would sit and have a smoke also. Plants all around them to help absorb the smoke smell. ;-)
Sears every Christmas would have around six or so train displays and that was the best part of going there as a kid. 🙂
Then across from the mall was Casinelli Square that had a Service Merchandise and also had an audio store next to it. Then a Zayre's store which was really nice and a Lensscrafters and some discount store, TJ Maxx or Marshall's maybe?
When they remodeled this mall, it reminds me of walking into the Death Star with all that white. I thought any time I was going to have to pull out my light sabre when Vader showed up in one of the stores and have a good duel. LOL.
The last time I was there, many years ago, there were kiosks of foreigners selling junky jewelry and then I realized what was happening to the USA. It was quite a shock coming in from Europe after living there for a good while and then arriving back to Cincinnati and seeing the downward spiral of this area. It's terrible and a shock to see, but I have good memories of my childhood at least.

What a beautiful design.makes me realize that we are simply overmalled however.there is just too much of what was once a good thing.I thank those who became a part of my childhood.I won’t forget them.I don’t feel that the mall itself will make a comeback.time to “ Tri “ something new.

I used to go to this mall a ton when I was growing up. It's really sad to see it dying off

I think this is a beautiful mall. Love the open airiness of it and all the windows and light. Really sad it's dead.

Sad to see it in this shape. I used to go there every Sat with my Dad and we’d walk around up until a few years ago. I always thought was killed this place was that stupid ass youth escort policy they had in place. I’d often see Paul Blart like goofs stop and annoy customers. It was ridiculous. They had so many check points that it felt like visiting a prison than going to the mall and people just got fed up and took their money to Kenwood.

Kenwood Mall was always a better mall anyway.
