- A question that every bowhunter should ask themselves and consider very carefully, is "when to hunt a morning treestand". When the conditions are right, the value of your 1st morning bowhunting sits of the year can be worth more than a dozen low value sits. The first time that you hunt a treestand during the morning hours for the entire season, can offer incredible opportunities. Do you want to create consistent bowhunting success each Fall? Then make sure that you follow the strategies in these video, for making sure that you don't miss out on, the best times to climb into a treestand, all bow season long...
That's good stuff I have adjusted my tactics over the last 36 years of bowhunting.
I harvested a buck on October 14th of this year and it was 74 degrees and I sat up just outside a staging area because i knew he was coming to that area every 3 days and waiting just before dark to come out in the plot but this time, I sat a dripper with my dragging estrus in it the day before. I usually sat it up just before the pre rut but I decided to try it 13 days earlier. Well it worked like a charm, he came in at 5:40 pm and gave me a 23 yard shot. I do believe he came in from being more curious then thinking it was a hot doe. Awesome hunt thou.
I’m located in Monroe county, WI & stepped out this morning and thought 💭 what great hunting conditions, and then had my morning coffee and saw this video clip saying the same. I love your RUclips clips 🔥👌
Ha, that's awesome Kid! Speaking of coffee...I need some, lol. Really appreciate the feedback! There is a great cold front coming after this warm weekend...good luck and I hope that you can get out!
Killed my target buck on the 11th. Had him bedded down in a persimmon patch for 6 hours just 50 yards away for 6 hours. He finally got up at 430 and moved around enough to sling an arrow. 30 mph winds and a 30 degree temp drop in east Oklahoma. All thanks to this channel I made sure I took off work to be in the stand.
Thank you for all of this info!
Chase that is so outstanding to hear and man, I am so happy for you! Great job and a huge CONGRATS 🙂 Really appreciate the feedback. It sounded like the perfect ingredients 👍
I started writing weather wind barometer and snap in overall temperature down, and comparing it to my trail cameras and was mind blown that some farms I would have target bucks moving before the fronts some during and some after, what I realized were food and bedding availability played alot into when they moved on what farm to prepare for the cold snap, I took that information hung lock ons in transition areas and have had a ton of success and it helped me not add unnecessary pressure to certain areas! great videos keep it up!
I only hunt certain weather now and I can't believe the difference in the deer I'm seeing I would have had a really nice 8 point but I screwed It up lol I owe all the really good encounters I've had this season to you and I thank you for all the info and help you have given me over almost 2 years now
Well that's too bad about the 8 Ron, but man...I always appreciate the feedback from you! Good luck...some major cold sweeping across the country next week 👍
@@whitetailhabitatsolutions9751 how much do you believe in a Solunar calendar? A lot of people say to get in the stand an hour before Moon up!
Rob, I'm experiencing just the same as you. Major increase in activity per sit. I've been out twice since our Oct 5th opener and killed a mature doe and nice 8-point! That's two sits and two deer in the freezer. Talk about success! And I attribute it mainly to what I've learned from Jeff this past year.
Enjoyed hearing about your exceptional morning sit! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks boss, your message helps my patience immensely. Three shooters have shown up in the last two weeks. I look at at weather underground everyday just laying in wait. You’ve changed how I approach everything about deer hunting... for the better and I’ve got the results to prove it. Thanks Ksf
Jeff you produce the best whitetail buck strategy content out there. Always enjoy watching it. Can't wait to see the notification saying Diane shot one of those big shooters. Seeing the success of our loved ones is probably the highest amount of enjoyment we can experience.
Grant...man I appreciate those comments so much! Diane does too ☺️ She said to say that she is really nervous! She is also pumped. She works extremely hard on the lands...knows all of the stands by heart, and which winds she needs. Hopefully all of her hard work will be rewarded soon 👍 Thank you so much and good luck yourself
You are the most informative hunter that I have ever followed. Your videos are amazing. Thank you so much.
I have purposefully stayed away from my best stand to sit in it this Saturday morning. Previous years I probably burned it out during early bow season. I really enjoy your videos. Wish me luck!!
I just found your videos at the end of August, but starting after season this year i have already got a huge list of things you have said that i am going to implement to my land. Right now i have a outside in land and thanks to you i finally think i can turn that around. Thank you so much for taking the time to make these videos for hunters like myself.
Anthony, I think you'll be happily surprised what an inside-out property can do for you! We just had new neighbors move in and clear a big brushy field adjacent to a large garden-plot. Now the deer have shifted to our property to bed. Daylight mature buck activity is through the roof now that the deer are coming "in" to bed rather than leaving the property.
@@kelvin0689 that sounds great, I've got a long ways to go but i hope to make big changes through the next year.
Your videos have helped me so much. I am a football coach and have a 1 year old son so this time of year is really hard to get out to the stand, but because of videos like this I took advantage of one free morning I had and filled the freezer with a nice doe. You have made the entire of process of managing property as well as hunting tactics very easy to understand. Thank you for all that you do.
Days of rain and high winds here in the Bristol hills as well.. I am waiting for the wind to let up and a bit lower temps in morning.. my challenge is state land is highly pressured.. I am leaving the one private land I have access to for that right morning.. thanks for sharing your morning Jeff, loved the shot of the hawk... happy day!!
Dam - I watched a couple of your fantastic videos this morning. I am 72 years old and avid fisherman and hunter and have had some great success. The thing is that you can always learn if you are of a mind to. I learned a couple things today that are actually a potential game changer for me. You never know "what you don't Know" LOL . I learned a few things that are really "key" to consistent success and I will be employing this new found knowledge to realize even greater success. Thanks so much and keep up the good work!
Awesome video once again Jeff!! My son and I are after a 7 year old 10 point we call Pronghorn. We've watched him grow to magnum status since he was 2 years old. We were so disappointed last year as we had zero cam pics and zero sightings, but all of the sudden, he appeared once again this summer!! We've narrowed down where his bedroom is and just waiting for the right wind and weather, and that looks like Saturday. A huge storm with rain and heavy winds will be cleared by Friday, so Saturday morning looks to be awesome!! Unfortunately, I will be out of town, but my son has a great chance to run into old Pronghorn. Patience, patience, patience...eventually will pay off. Hope you get the chance to harvest the big buck you've been after as well! Happy hunting Jeff!!
Thanks so much Rob! Awesome to hear about Pronghorn and I hope that your son runs into him after the storm ☺️ leave a comment on here if you guys get him...pretty exciting to hear about him coming back!
in the middle of the "Bomb Cyclone" hitting Pennsylvania at the moment, using today to check cams and then hunting tomorrow AM, going from an overnight temp of 50 to 32 degrees tomorrow morning, wind is dying down overnight as well. Should be a great sit!
That all sounds perfect Dylan...good luck and great job on bring patient!
I LOVE your vids. I have seen so many more deer this year by just following your advice. Thank you so much for the tips. I have seen some nice 8 pointers and saw 8 bucks on opening day here in Ohio. Oh not to mention the evening of last Saturday I had 4 bucks out in an ag field just hanging out then the big boy come out but was at 70 yds away
Matt that sounds awesome...very good success so far and I appreciate being a small part of all your hard work and planning! Bet you can wait for some of these upcoming cold fronts ☺️Good luck and thank you so much for the feedback!
In the stand now Jeff. Had our strongest cold front this year come through yesterday knocking the temps down about 18 degrees. Nothing yet but the MAJORITY of our movement plus our mature buck pics this year here have been between 8&9.
Good luck Cody!! Sounds like the perfect ingredients...excited for you!
Whitetail Habitat Solutions thanks brother I’m hoping so. Have you ever had a deer show up on camera and have night and day pics of him? I had him last Tuesday morning at 8 and then this last Monday night at 10 lol. I’m a bit confused as to what he’s doing
Just think what we did in the woods before cell phones... Lol
Cold mornings are straight up magical. I live for the morning hunts👍
A lot of good information in your videos. We're supposed to get our first morning of frost this Saturday here in Virginia, I will definitely be in my stand.
Thank you Sean...man, good luck!! Awesome to hear...so many locations are getting great weather over the next week. LOTS of good bucks will fall 👍
We are getting that high wind and rain here in western New York right now. Im definitely planning on sitting tomorrow morning. Had one of the shooter bucks on my list eating in the corn field across from my house in daylight while I was chopping so I'm pretty confident he hasn't been pressured much.
October 15th was the best day ive ever had in the woods!!! and so far this my best season ever!! i killed my Biggest buck to date and im hunting way bigger deer than ever too!! saw 12 different bucks and was in Deer pretty much all day! they would browse and shift their Bedding. from my stand you can see mostly the whole bedding area. I learned a ton from seeing all this movement!! also they`re chasing a lot already, which surprised me!
Great job Vincent... CONGRATS!! That is pretty dang cool to hear. Really happy for you...sounds like and incredible hunt 👍
Jeff I also want to take this time to thank you so much! your videos are incredible and I Watch every single one! I’ve learned so much this year from yourself Dan Infalt and the Hunting Public I can’t even begin to tell you and again I just want to thank you so much for everything you do!
I've learned a lot having watched several of your videos Jeff. Tried a few of your suggestions on the property I hunt this season and I'm seeing results. Its been a fun and exciting season so far, thank you!
I've been following your advice on scoring days to hunt. Only had 3 days during bow season that were decent. I'm off this Saturday, with a predicted 13 degree temperature drop. Hoping it yields results as good as it has in the past.
Excellent...man, it should be a great sit! Good luck!
90% of the bucks I've taken were within 2 hours of the morning over the years. Took a nice 6 pt with my lil boy the morning of our first frost. Didn't even have to wait an hour. You hit the nail on the head from my experiences.
Love the videoJeff. This one is just packed with valuable information.
I love getting information from all sorts of the legends like you, dan infalt, and john eberhart. I know Infalt hunts 90% of the time evenings, but I myself have had more big buck encounters by far in the morning.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge. It sure helps👍
You are very welcome and man, that is great to hear!
First time out last weekend got set up at 5 a.m. on the ground an 8 point runs past me twice within 10 yards at around 8 just after daylight here in michigan can't wait for this weekend to get out again.
That's awesome Joseph? Good luck when you get out and make sure to check out next week's forecast
..major temp drops coming after this weekend of hot weather 🙂
Thank you for the videos. I hunt in NY and I feel like your videos relate a lot to where I hunt! Great info
Did you get a new sponsorship from Sitka? I hope so! You produce great content! Keep up the good work!
Very informative video, and for you that don’t know, you have to pickup one or two of Jeff’s books, you will be glad you did
We had our first hard frost in NW Ohio on the Oct 15. At 815 a 143 inch 10 point went down. Perfect morning
I'm living proof of this strategy. 830am October 4th 15 degree drop in temp. 62 degrees day before 45 the next morning perfect wind out of the west first sit. Hes not a 4 year old 2.5 3.5 max I'm no expert but hes a good buck I watched all summer.
That stands hasnt been sat since. Next sit for that stand is planed for the last weekend in October. Hope to see one of the bruisers I know are around. Skipping this weekend bc it's nearly 70 and rainy lol
Iv hunted way less this season and have had way more success so far (area helps) You know what they say sometimes less is more!
Justin...man, do happy for you AND your dad!! Really appreciate the pics and sympathy too. I love hearing about your success and means a lot to share with everyone. Thank YOU! And for sure...less is more when it comes to consistently shooting the oldest bucks in the neighborhood. Great bucks 👍
@@justinstrong2811 so true Justin!
@@whitetailhabitatsolutions9751 hey jeff no problem. I owe a lot of it to you!
I said it in my last comment but you should go to bowfest at the end of July it's in WI. I plan to be there.
I've been moving toward waiting until the first cold snap the week of Halloween or later to take my vacation. After watching all you're episodes I feel even more confident in this choice. If I didn't have to get the kids up and to school and the sitters I'd probably take tomorrow off to hunt. The deer movement has been low on my cell trail cameras even at night. Have a feeling as this bomb cyclone moves out the deer movement is going to explode.
Sounds like a great plan...man, I hope you can get a couple of sits before Halloween...I've killed roughly 1/2 of my best bucks before 11/1. I bet the movement will explode after the cyclone...good luck!
Thanks for sharing your videos Jeff, theres very informational and apply to every hunter. 👍💯
Agree 100% with the morning sits and cold fronts. Here in PA they are calling for low of 33 Friday night essentially Saturday morning. We got a to of rain all day Wednesday well into wed night now on Thursday we have a steady high wind up to 30 mph gusts. I’m thinking Saturday morning is gonna be good. One of my favorite stands from which many buck fell over the past 20 or so years is just almost impossible to get into without creating a snort festival. Understand that this is in a heavy agricultural area with medium cover around the stand. I have stopped trying to get in there in the morning from the opener until around Halloween after that I go to this stand for morning sits and hope the buck I’m after is far enough away. Just checked a camera in the rain on Wednesday and have 2 target bucks showing up regularly 730 to 830 am. I am really tempted to get in there Saturday morning providing we get the predicted south west wind or should I stay out?? I should mention that can get into this stand without issue any evening with the right wind but seldom do the target bucks show in shooting light. Any advice??
Hey brother I heard bucks are chasing here. I’ve not been back since I got that big spike opening morning but LORD willing I’m goin in the morning Amen.
Great stuff as always Jeff.I saw a 120s 8 on Tuesday .He was 105yards away. I put up a stand yesterday 25 yards from their.Hope he or another shooter comes through. Been raining for 2 days. I'm thinking next week an all day sit??It's a transition between 2 bedding areas.I know their are a couple big 9pts also.Too big to pass. Can't wait to see what you SEE in Wisconsin...Good luck with the rest of your season. Thanks again.
Hi D! To me still to early for an all days sit next well...but man, should be some great morning hunting! Sounds like you will have some great opportunity 🙂 can't wait to hear about it from you 👍
Thank you for sharing your wealth of knowledge with the Public! I have been following all of your "weather related" videos and a big question is the day of and after a cold front moves through. I know you said to be in the tree the day after with a significant temp drop and rise in pressure. But this next one coming on Thursday, will be windy and overcast the first day. Friday will still have high pressure, but lower winds around 5-6 mph and clear skies. If you only have one day to hunt out of the 2, what would you recommend? Thanks Again!
Going down to near freezing for the first time Saturday morning in south east Pa. Should be good
I love the videos Jeff. I started hunting deer just this year and your videos have been my go to source for information. I am looking into buying one of your books; do you have a recommendation for the best one for new hunters on public land? (I MAY be getting access to 60 acres private unhunted land next year, but for now I dont need one geared for land management - though i may be in the market for one next year!)
Thanks a lot Jeff and keep putting out these great videos!
I love the light frost in around 28 30 degrees and clear sky calm thats like my recipe for a perfect day high around 50 👊
Definitely no October lull here in central Michigan this year. I've already seen more deer and bigger bucks than I did all of last season hunting. Our tribal season starts in September and ends in February. If anything the deer around here go into a lull later in the season. Trying to get a big six point I've seen in person twice now. He was looking at me both times from 10 yards away so I couldn't get a shot with my compound. Hopefully he slips up going into the rut.
Really keeping a eye on next week it could turn out to be a special one
Hey Jeff we would love a video on posting your property and how to keep people out during rifle season. Sure you have a lot of experience with wandering hunters!
Lot's of good movement here in MN on Oct 14th morning as well, had bucks on camera until about 9:30am.
I seen 10 does Tuesday!
I'd like to see you do some videos from the SOUTHERN part. It's nice that you have tons of deer in Wisconsin, Indiana, Michigan, Iowa, Pennsylvania, etc. All these have large deer populations. How about some videos from Florida, Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina? It's a different perspective here......
All of the concepts still apply anywhere. Whitetails are whitetails, no matter where they live. I have worked in 26 states since 2005...so that's where all of the experience comes from. Roughly 900 parcels across the country. I've worked on lands where hunters haven't seen an antlered buck during the daylight for years. Some that see a dozen deer a year. Others that are dozens per day...mostly does. Wilderness, big woods, ag...all of the above. The habitat changes...the balance of movement...but that's about it.
Again, all the same concepts still apply.
@@whitetailhabitatsolutions9751 ok..... interesting perspective! Thanks for the insight!!!
Just found this channel and will be watching a LOT of these videos. QUESTION: I hunt Western Whitetail in Idaho and Montana. Since the advice you are giving is coming from more of an Eastern Whitetail perspective will most of it still apply? I am hunting Whitetail in huge tracts of public land whereas you are hunting them on 20 acre parcels. Would the behavior of the deer very different or much the same?
Can I ask you what brand gloves you're using, ive been looking for a pair like that forever. I don't care how cold it is, I prefer to have my thumb and trigger finger exposed, I feel like I have better control that way.
Great comments on am hunts. How many degrees drop in temp are you looking for to be a significant change and a good opportunity?
Look forward to talking to you.
Bob
Hi Bob...thank you so much! I look at at least 8-10 degree drops. If you add high winds dropping or weather conditions letting up...they can make a small drop a BIG opportunity!
Talk to you soon ☺️
The deer should be on their feet in the morning. There’s plenty of white oak acorns at my stand. They should be hitting them hard now. I’m excited bout goin in the morning. I’ll let u know what happens brother. Be safe and GOD BLESS. Good luck to you and your wife
Jeff could you explain what pieces of sitka gear you wear and for what temperatures throughout the season. I'm having difficulty choosing the right combinations for the right times of the year.
Awesome video makes a lot of sense thank you
I understand the theory of hunting the cold fronts. My question is once the weather cools down in to the low 30's to low 50's and it's fairly steady what do you do Then... Do we then wait for a 20゚ day to get that shift in temperature
My neighbor let's me hunt his 193 acre property and God it'd beautiful but I have yet to see a buck since I missed one in October the place I'm set up at is perfect it's in a swamp good lanes bunch if rubs and scrapes but have had no luck what can I do to help next season
Not too sure if the bucks are rutting here yet there are so many does so its hard to tell if they are even seeking where i am because there are too many does
I've seen a lot of videos and you talk about mock scrapes, water holes, and food plots most and other attractants. I want to know your thought on salt licks especially ones you've added to in the same spot year after year till it's just established in the soil.
What do you recommend for hunting this weekend with highs climbing back up to the 60s? Is it a doe taking type of weekend? Unfortunate for me as it is the only time I will be able to get into the woods for the foreseeable future. Love the content thank you for all of the great advice!
Thank you very much! Have you checked out this hot weather hunting video?

There is always a way ☺️ Shady food sources, waterholes, apple trees. BUT, I would definitely wait to use a favorite rut stand until the weekend of the 26th...
@@whitetailhabitatsolutions9751 Thank you I cant believe that I forgot about this one.
The other day it was frosty and in the 30's and clear conditions and i saw 20-25 deer all does tho i ended up taking my first bow kill which was a doe with the barnett recruit crossbow using rage broadheads at 30 yards ended up hitting a little far back hit the liver and got single lung she only ran about 15 yards
Congrats, Cody!
Love this channel. 👊
hey jeff love your work!! you talk about stand pressure, if you hunt multiple days in a row on same stand but NEVER spook deer.. does that still count as a pressured stand or is it still considered unpressured?
Great videos i Love morning hunting , missed a doe about an Hour ago ...ugh it happens i guess 🤔
U never mention the state ky. Does ky not have good deer hunting habitat? I’m In the Appalachia’s.
In PA btw

@@BlackCobra331 I'm relatively new, I don't know what this means?
This man is amazing.
Suzie & I are letting oct go by without hunting lots of upgrades done to the land supervised by the one & only Jeff hoping to let the deer woods calm down a bit from all the human activity that has taken place up to now so anyway that’s the strategy hopefully it doesn’t bite me in the ass lots of daytime does on my food plot & night recently a nice 8 point has been showing up to the food plot but it’s been early morning like 4:30 / 5:00 not pics during daylight yet hope that changes at the present still haven’t had many deer visiting my waterholes seems odd to me thought there would be more activity also not to much action at my two mock scrapes yet that we hope is going to change soon getting to the video what can a person it’s like Tony the Tiger would GREAT
Paul I love hearing about all of the activity on the land...and everything that has been accomplished! Until those bears quit bathing in the Waterhole, I suspect the deer will stay away from drinking in it ☺️
How many Buck tags do you get in a Wisconsin whitetail season?
No bear for about a week or so one can only hope they moved on hears a loaded question when do you think the deer will Stewart paying attention to my mock scrapes
Do you sit quietly in the morning on morning sits in mid October? Or do you let out a few doe bleats, small grunts, etc...?
No bucks yet but the doe daytime movement is off the charts compared to the past.
Outstanding to hear Rick...really great temps drops next week for the pre rut...should be some outstanding mornings in there to hunt 🙂 hope you can make it out and start seeing some bucks!
@@whitetailhabitatsolutions9751 I'm excited!

The leaves are still greenish here. It’s off this year. The weather has been odd.
I just love to be out there high value or not. I’m there on the high value as well but not my best stands
I know you said the rut is the same year to year. When do you estimate the peak of the rut is in Upstate, NY?
That's a good question...I would say right around the 10th-14th of November. Probably some outstanding ore rut activity starting during the last week of October!
Whitetail Habitat Solutions I’m in Allegany County, Upstate NY. I definitely agree with Jeff’s prediction. 10th-14th has been traditionally what i would call the peak. Love this channel!
Where was it that light out at 7:15pm in October?
Great content, please add closed captioning
Do you advise ground hunting during these conditions as well. ?
Hi Joe I sure do, Diane was sitting in one last night and will be definately doing so next week during the morning, during the cold front.
Something that may help is to not let the conditions let you know if you sit in a treestand or blind, but the location.
Have you ever felt like you've missed out on something? I get that feeling only worse. I mean you have to be sitting in the right spot though ?
Hey Jeff, I'm 14 and shot a button buck, which makes deer number 8 for me, with my Remington 870 20 gauge, using Winchester super x, last weekend on Saturday for the Illinois youth Season here in Monroe county. I was only in the stand for an hour and a half. I'm going bow hunting this weekend in the same stand I shot the one out of. Can you give me some advice on what calls I may be able to use to try and get this young 8 pointer in range, being it's not the rut yet? I've tried soft sparring and grunting but I got nothing.
And not to mention that stand is on a bean field and there is a good size pond about 200 yards directly in front of my stand. If there's any advice you could give, that'd be much appreciated!
Okay sat morn it’s on.
Good luck Michael...man if those ingredients are there, it sure will be - good luck 👍
Thank you, I’m praying for a temperature drop. I got little pressure on this WMA I found. Thanks again!!
Jeff. Hi im Jeff. Had great deer traffic generated from a artificial waterhole i installed. But i recently (directed by my father) put a mosquito dunk in the supply. That was a week ago. Not one deer has utilized this water since. Any ideas? Feed store said it was safe for animals. Im left with no idea.
Hi Jeff...man, I hate to break it to you but a very bad idea. For one you want the stagnant, mosquito infested water ..it's natural deer prefer. BUT, I've found any additive including sodium, nutrients, flavoring...turns deer off. Nasty stagnant is best. Do you have rain coming or can you flush it a bit? I would also add soil to it a bit and stir it up to give it a more natural smell and taste. Probably not what you wanted to hear but you can correct it if you can flush it, add some soil, add rain water, etc.

Are there people i can get into contact with to help me read the property I hunt?
If you only have stands on edges of field, would you hunt it in the morning if it’s near bedding
Yes... don't go in dark. Let them feed off field first, then early to midmorning bucks will come and travel parallel to field edge to scent check the does that used trails to go back into cover. You want your scent blowing into field.... there will be a trail parallel to field edge. This is a "rut" cruising trail... to scent check the field
Meant to say it’s like Tony the Tiger would say it’s great lol
Ha, I hear you Paul ☺️
What height do you typically set your stands?
I set my stand on a neighbors 30 acre farm yesterday afternoon during the pouring rain over looking a X cross trail. Bucks county, Pa. High winds today 50+ gusts. 25+ gusts tom with a temp drop down to 33 at night. I am hoping sat am sit is a good one.

Man where I hunt your lucky to. See A deer much, less a.bunch. deer. You may hunt all year and never see a deer. The sighn is faint. And its on mountians sides. Tree stands don't do you any good cause looking down a draw they'll see a tree stand easy not like hunting the flats where they dont look,up. I hunt on,the ground. Its tough but rewarding. But for me killing a deer is just icing on the cake. I enjoy walking up a mountian side. Looking off across the valley. Seeing a fox cross my path or a raccoon. Or maybe even and old back bear. Off in the distance. Seeing the coulor in the fall foialage. Watching the sun come up or go down. And if your vigilant with some skill and some luck that old ghost buck suddenly appears out of nowhere. And your heart begins to race you calm your self. And wait till you can raise your bow. Steady yourself patience patience. When he turns broadside and he's in close. You release your arrow. And then the fun is all over draging a big buck back down a mountian side where there are no roads and it gets steep in places is rough work but all the more enjoyable to remember when its all said and done. God bless happy hunting ,,,
