Originally I had planned on posting this while I was in Spain for Worlds, but I had it ready to go, so I figured I might as well post it today. Which puzzles are you most interested in seeing me make videos about? As I said at the end of the video, next year I’m planning to take a break from the speed puzzling content and get back to the vintage puzzles, which will also include figuring out some new storage solutions now that the collection has outgrown my apartment. Stay tuned to see what I come up with 😅 And stay tuned until next week, because my next video will be all about our team practice weekend and how we’re preparing for Worlds!
By a break, do you mean no content at all about speed puzzling next year, or just less? Either way is okay, I just hope you continue enjoying making content and solving fun puzzles :)
I was a middle school teacher in the 2000s and I was also zooming in on the bookshelf. The Uglies series and Jerry Spinelli books were staples in my classroom.
One thing you could consider as a special (or even a series) at some point maybe is focusing on people who prefer a digital puzzling experience. Not only do websites exist with different features, but there are also paid games on platforms like Steam (for PC) or google/apple app stores that are all about puzzling. Puzzling video games obviously aren't the hottest thing around so they rarely get attention, but I think it'd be intriguing to get your takes on the strengths and weaknesses of the different digital puzzling experiences. They are a different beast than speed puzzling and physical weird and old puzzles, but it might be a nice change of pace that could even draw in a different demographic to boot.
It took me a few tries to get through this entire video without falling asleep, and I’m not saying that as an insult, but as a compliment. Let me explain… I am a zookeeper who went through a traumatic event getting bit by a 6.5ft snake the other day, and it kind of destroyed my relationship with snakes and has made me very sad. I don’t like being scared of something I do genuinely love, but despite my logical brain saying there’s nothing to be afraid of, that Anne was just hurt and asking for help, my more instinctual side just fills me with terror now when I have to work with any snake. I also haven’t been sleeping well since the bite, because I keep dreaming about being bit. All of this is to say that I find this channel and its videos incredibly comforting. This video made me feel calm enough to actually sleep for a while without having a bad dream, and I did go back to it so that I could watch all of the cool things Karen got. I really love when people really love things, and this channel is a perfect example of it. It’s so very sweet and wholesome in a way that I find uplifting. Keep loving puzzles and sharing that love with all of us, Karen, because it brings me incredible amounts of joy. Edit: forgot to say diamond 🙃
Omg those illusion images where you find the 3D in the picture used to be so easy for me too when I was younger but now I can barely do it too?? That's actually so funny that you can't either... getting older sucks lol
I really struggled as a child with stereograms, and even after I learned to do it, I was only able to do cross-eyed. Now, as an adult, I can see the images much more easily using parallel vision (where you stare through the picture) and struggle more with cross-eyed method.
How amazing that you are featured in Highlights! That magazine was my absolute favorite as a kid... the universal "waiting in the doctor's office" reading material. Diamond!
I was thinking how no matter the mood I am in it makes me so happy when you upload a video, it never fails, I truly mean it. Been dealing with some tough stuff but your videos are always a big treat :D thanks for sharing your joy about puzzles with the world Karen!
If you're a world class champion at what you do, then you shouldn't apologize for you collections that got you to that level. 😊 It's your personal passion and something that you love.
I'm not a diamond painting type, but I often think fondly of the various book nook kits I see out there, and I'm absolutely positive you'd be a great fit with one of those. I'd love to see you give one of them a try. In many ways, they are a kind of 3-d puzzle, and the results are charming.
I love puzzle hauls so much! Just love seeing the huge variety that exists (or used to exist) in the world, and listening to someone so passionate talk about them. My favorite videos!
Hi Karen, I know you touch on this a bit in lots of videos but I'd love to see a video dedicated to what you look for in a puzzle- what makes a puzzle better or worse when you're shopping, what stands out to you and makes you think "that'd be a fun one to solve " (obviously some of this is personal preference for different things) I've bought puzzles only to find that they are easier or harder or more frustrating than I thought they would be based on the image
I'm so grateful that YOU are the one buying all these puzzles. xD I only have a few in my collection and have absolutely no room for all of the ones I'd like to see, so it's great that I can enjoy so many vintage puzzle vicariously through you.
Absolutely adore your videos, and your passion to puzzles. Found your channel during the pandemic, and ordered a bunch of puzzles for my parents, brother, and I to do during lockdown. We laughed, and shared a lot of time together doing something we weren't interested in doing before..puzzling. You inspired a great time for us all. Even if we don't puzzle much now, still appreciate you and your videos, and your continued passion. You helped inspire making a lot of memories, and good times during a tough moment. You keep going, Karen!! You're dedication to your passion is so awesome!
Thank you for giving us a full frame shot of the Magic Eye Illusions Puzzle so we could pause the video and try to see the image for ourselves. It took me awhile, but I finally saw it!! Then I couldn’t unsee it!! 😂❤
I was thrilled to see that the Magic Eye got to you. I hung on to it for quite awhile until I connected the Samina/Yvonne dots and they agreed to mule it. I always keep my "eye" out for any interesting vintage puzzle now.
It's just so lovely to see so many publications featuring you! The editor that made your photo a puzzle deserves a diamond medal! I'd love to see more art history or 'Murder, she wrote' puzzles in the future! I just love the deep dives you do on the history of these special puzzles 🥰
Diamond. Can't wait to see any of the Jane Wooster Scott puzzles. Honestly i love any puzzle content you put out, speed puzzling, haul, regular puzzles or any of the other stuff you put out. Good luck at worlds
Diamond. Thanks to your videos I've begun saving my favorite puzzles starting my own small collection and donating the rest of the puzzles to my library.
Karen, you are going to love the Columbo puzzle. It will be good for you because you love mysteries, intrigue and challenges. As a simple - no obligation - suggestion, watch at least one episode of Columbo on your smart phone or computer at Pluto TV before you do the puzzle. Congrats on your newest haul. Best wishes ALWAYS and forever.
What a joy to watch this video on a lazy Sunday evening. I am particularly interested in the new mini ' Happily' jigsaw puzzles. Great to take on holiday. Thank you, Karen, for uploading this super video.
Please don't end all of the speed puzzling videos!! That is how I found your channel, and why I signed up for my first speed puzzling event next month. I love all of the vintage puzzle videos, but I really, really love all of the speed puzzling videos! Diamond :)
Diamond 😊. I discovered your channel about 2 months ago. You gave me back the interest in puzzling and I bought and did your beautiful meta puzzle in 3 days! I’m interested in the happilly puzzle. I found that they do not only have the 80’s but also the 90’s. I will probably purchase these 2 . Tks and good luck at worlds!
I think you have one of the more diverse vintage collections out there - not just Springboks! And I would love to see you do that Pyramid puzzle for sure. I think I am not of the right mindset for Diamond art, but I was a paint by number person back in the day, so I do see the attraction.
I love diamond painting. When I started speed puzzling, my daughter asked what I was giving up to have time to puzzle. Yep, it is diamond painting. I still do it occasionally.
I used to never be able to see the Magic Eye illusions as a kid but one day I figured it out a trick because we had a framed one - my trick was to look at the reflection because you want your eyes to focus behind the picture. And now I can do them really quickly! The diamond paintings look so fun!
Didn't expect you to open the newspaper on a video! I also noticed that the photos weren't ones they used in other places, so I was excited for you to get it. Still wild to me that you were printed in our local paper! Love all those vintage puzzles, but those little 99 ones from hapily make me most excited, and that diamond art is very gorgeous!
I love your speed puzzling competition videos but am looking forward to more vintage puzzle ones too- I may have to get myself a diamond art club set too!
Loved this video. Wrote down all the puzzle companies that you mentioned. Some I was not familiar with so I’m looking forward to checking them out. Several times you mentioned that you didn’t look at the picture. That’s how I work every puzzle I do. I go just by shape of the piece and the color. Don’t use the box beyond my first look at it. I need to do a 1000 piece puzzle soon. My friend has been coming over to puzzle with me, but she only likes 500 pieces or less.
My dad bought them all at a yard sale like 30 years ago. I only recently learned on Facebook that some people collect the old copies. Which I guess shouldn't be a surprise to someone who collects vintage puzzles. But I had no idea 😂
Diamond painting looks fun, I’m glad you’re doing something other than puzzles so you don’t burn out. Have fun at worlds! I’m excited to see the slow puzzling in future (especially the court garden one, those little lines look like lots of fun)
Congrats on everything! Loved this haul, especially the vintage Ravensburgers, it's like a diamond mine of goodies. I have the "Nasty Nasties" Waldo puzzle, it's one of my favorites!
"The year is 2050. Karen has bought up 98% of America's real estate in a futile attempt to make room for her entire puzzle collection. The Pentagon has been rebuilt in the shape of a puzzle piece. Mount Rushmore has been altered to display the heads of Ravensburger CEOs. The rivers run red with pieces of Heinz Ketchup solid color puzzles. Most find the situation... puzzling."
That Artifact puzzle is gorgeous!! Its crazy how fast puzzle purchases can stack up! I spent months trying to be good then all of a sudden I'm like, huh how did these 10 boxes appear at my doorstep?!
I have a few big Diamond paintings from a different company. They are relaxing. My first joy is jigsaw puzzles though! Great hauls! Love your enthusiasm!
Ah, Karen. You are an inspiration for me. I see you have fun with the thing you love and live off of it. I hope I'll be like you one day. Currently I'm getting my masters in Linguistics, but ive been struggling with finding a job. I got good news that my team and I have been accepted for a congress, but I can barely enjoy it thinking about how I will work, study and investigate at the same time. I feel like I can't. There are some other things going on that make everything feel like a lot. I hope I can find peace soon, and find a good job with flexible hours on the topic I love. I hope I can find friends and colleagues in my field. I hope I can travel. I hope I can reach my academic goals. I hope I hope I hope. I know Im just stressed and that things will get better if I take them one at the time. Watching you, Karen, living your best life, feels like a nice horizon to follow. You are truly a diamond.
I loved this video! It's so fun to see the mix of art and styles between brands and decades! I think the diamond of this haul was the George Went Swimming in the Lake... or maybe the Monastery wooden puzzle... or the round Chinese art one! Honestly too many exciting puzzles. Thank you for sharing Karen! I'm hoping to try one of the Happily puzzles -Kitty Stardust - in particular. Sending you good vibes!
Congrats on your vintage puzzle haul and all your write ups in the newspapers & magazine! I would love to see you make videos on the Jane Wooster Scott/Ceaco puzzles! I absolutely love the Americana style images. Looking forward to seeing your Diamond Art as well! Thank you for sharing! Always a pleasure 🙂
This is awesome. I'd love to find a cork puzzle. It's something now I'm hoping to find one in a yard sale or thrift store some day. Itd be like finding a diamond in the rough
Diamond. I actually went “wow!” When you opened George Went Swimming…, so that’s the one I’d do first. The Japanese block print looking one would be 2nd. So cool!
I would love to see a video of you doing Ten Hundred's puzzle. He worked so hard and did so much research to try and make a fun and high quality puzzle. The illustration is beautiful, and there's a whole huge mystery in the illustration. I think you'd have fun and I'd love to see your opinion on it
The one at 2:48 I have that one, I love it it s nursery rhymes. And you can play with the figures as they are one piece. I was so excited to see you pull it out of box two.
I can't wait for all the vintage Springboks. I just found a diamond painting at a thrift store the other day that I'm about to get started on. Love the haul!🧩
I have the first Where's Waldo puzzle (deep sea divers) but in a different box. I'm not sure if it applies to your box as well, but the fun trick is that you cannot find Waldo on the puzzle box - he's not printed on the box but only on the pieces. You can only find him when you've solved the puzzle yourself.
@@KarenPuzzles mine was printed in 2007 by USAopoly, CA. On a completely different note, I live in Connecticut and I've been thinking of driving to one of those old puzzle factory sites you've covered earlier. I'll keep you posted if I find anything fun. :)
Great haul! I've had the Benedict Blue DAC kit in my wishlist for a while, butI need to work through my to pile of diamond paintings first! I like to do a couple practice speed puzzles and then diamond paint afterward, though injuries have meant I can't do that lately!
Glad to hear you will be posting more stuff like other than speed puzzling-it’s not my favorite to watch, but I wish you well at worlds! Can’t wait to see you complete those vintage puzzles!
Karen, you are so awesome! I love your videos. My wife and I do 4-5 puzzles per year and we are horribly slow compared to you, but I love doing them and find it oddly therapeutic. So you are both my vicarious guilty pleasure as well as my vicarious therapist. THANKS for being so delightful.
Out of the ones you presented I think I like "A Court Reception" the most, I find the patterns of hand-drawn parallel lines very satisfying. Will be interesting to see what that looks like on puzzle pieces, might be an easy start for sorting? Sidenote from a previous haul video, have you done one of the talking jigsaw puzzles yet? I've done two of them so far and was excited when they appeared in one of your videos. Anyway Diamond 😆.
I feel like perhaps it might be time to rent a separate office space just for filming regular content. Your collection of historical puzzles is growing & no one is surprised. It’s in your DNA. If there was a separate filming space, then the whole puzzle room could be used to house puzzle treasures. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed watching your channel grow, you grow, and your puzzle collection grow over the last several years. I feel like it won’t be long before you have a puzzle gallery open that has features on puzzle history, the artwork of puzzles, etc. I also think it’s only a matter of time before you write a book. Ya know, if it weren’t for you, I wouldn’t have rediscovered my childhood love of puzzles. A love I’m now sharing with my nieces. I really want to see the Happyness puzzles done, including all the little ones, done up as a collage of minis. It would be SO CUTE! I also think the pyramid puzzle needs to be tackled sooner rather than later. That thing is cool and trippy. Speaking of trippy, the mindmelters are also a favorite of mine. They intimidate me but I love watching you do them.
Code Word: Diamond. I like all of the Jane Wooster Scott puzzles. I love all those little houses in those puzzles. They kind of remind of some of the Charles Wysocki puzzles that I've seen. I would love to see the Sweet Corn and Summer Dreams one put together. Loved watching the haul.
Karen, the illusion puzzle is beautiful. I entered full screen and saw the picture. I want one of these puzzles!! It will go on my personal 'must have' list.
I just started following you so maybe this has been convered. I love the vintage puzzles! I would really enjoy a video of how you find the vintage puzzles incluidng who has the best inventory and which sellers are reliable. P.S. I went to college in Providence and now live in LA also. Diamond
A few weeks ago I found the vintage ravensburger graphic II in the thriftstore for €1,50 and it was such a wonderful puzzle to do, I am on the lookout for the other ones too. Vintage puzzles with pictures are not my cup of tea, but these graphic vintage puzzles are amazing!
Yayyy!!! I no joke found the JWS Holiday Traditions puzzle at a GA thrift store and they have it to me for 50¢ bc I was buying like 8 other Wysocki puzzles and they thought it was cute that I love that Americana/Old America style. Enjoy making that puzzle!!
Awesome haul! Congratulations on the media coverage! I never knew would this diamond craft was about - thanks for showing what it is up close. I really enjoy all the speed puzzling material, but it's nice to take a break from it - I will look forward to what you show us next year.
you're making me want to start my own puzzle collection.. normally i just buy whatever cheap one i find that looks fun and when i finish it I just pass it on to a friend but seeing all these cool vintage ones makes me want to have some to shelve too

Most find the situation... puzzling."
😂😂😂
I so want that Columbo one! I rewatched all episodes several times, go watch it, perfect while doing puzzles.
Can't wait for the Jane Wooster Scott puzzles, especially the 1500. The pyramid is cool too. This was a fun video, I love seeing "all the things"!
I am excited for more mystery puzzles, and just more interesting puzzles in general on this channel
I love the Highlights Mag feature!!! Congrats, Karen!
I think you'd have fun and I'd love to see your opinion on it
Yes, I have it and it's been on my list for a while. I just want to make sure I have the time to do it justice!
The one at 2:48 I have that one, I love it it s nursery rhymes. And you can play with the figures as they are one piece. I was so excited to see you pull it out of box two.
You are expanding so rapidly! Time to think about a puzzle gallery/studio.
I know, next year once we're past Worlds and some other commitments I have, I think it's time to figure out a new storage solution.
Ahh! Highlights magazines were my childhood. Congrats on the feature!!
I actually suspected that might be the case. Clever!
@@KarenPuzzles mine was printed in 2007 by USAopoly, CA.
On a completely different note, I live in Connecticut and I've been thinking of driving to one of those old puzzle factory sites you've covered earlier. I'll keep you posted if I find anything fun. :)
DIAMOND
Any of the cork puzzles. The JWS images are charming and the silhouettes 🤩 Wowza!
Me watching this from my childhood bedroom with my overflowing puzzle closet and yellow binded Nancy Drew collection 😮
Not yet, but they're definitely on my list for next year!
@@KarenPuzzles Ah, the backlog problem ☺. Thanks for letting me know 👍
I feel like perhaps it might be time to rent a separate office space just for filming regular content.
Diamond! I absolutely love the cake-shaped puzzle! 😍😍
Excited to see when you make the pyramid one. It looks so unique and interesting!
DIAMOND! 💎
The Soon Ness puzzles are so cute and I might need to get one (or two, hehe) for myself! I love the art style!
Aww, I have a 1000-piece puzzle which is a different view of the exact town featured on your puzzlestix one! I love it, it's so sweet and fun.
Oh wow you reminded me that my family used to do those Where's Waldo puzzles when I was a kid!!
As long as you can see ceiling, it’s fine! 😂
Diamond
Diamond: I am very jealous of the Marx Brothers puzzle. They were so funny :D I would love to do or see that one :)
Diamond!
Great additions to your collection!
So many cool videos will be made in future!
Looking forward to seeing you solve another Murder, She Wrote puzzle with Katie.
you're making me want to start my own puzzle collection.. normally i just buy whatever cheap one i find that looks fun and when i finish it I just pass it on to a friend but seeing all these cool vintage ones makes me want to have some to shelve too
