Great review! The OP is the real bond watch, the watch Ian Fleming wore, and it’s the watch that went up Everest-not the explorer. It’s the genesis. I own the 116000 from 2018 and it was my wedding watch, and it just exudes genuineness and quality because of the white gold, IMO!

Best config., IMO. Scratches on clasp and bracelet are OK. Damage on corners of lug tops is a disaster; and scratches on case sides are bad ...if you expect unpolished and top resale value, or just a proud piece.
I own the same watch, and love it's understated looks. I wish it had the on the fly clasp adjustment though. Mine gains 1 second every three days. You didn't mention the indices are made of 22ct white gold.
Cant decide among this black color and the silver dial
The silver is nice and really good choice but black seems to fetch a bit more on the used market

Yes because I’m not a fan of the Mercedes hands on the Explorer 1

I'm hoping to find the black 36mm OP, or green in a year or two. These waiting lists are never ending! AT this rate, I may have to pay double the amount (one I manage to save that much)... But is it worth it with so many other great watches at this price point?
I kind of feel that it is, just for how perfect this is... But at the same time I am hesitant, with Omega, IWC, Breitling and many other options out there...What do you think? Is this really worth the wait and struggle? Or shall I just get a Breitling Chronomat 40mm, an Omega Aqua Terra, etc etc? I do like the idea of a small time only watch... But is the OP a little too tall at nearly 12mm? Do you find that it wears well? Thank you ! (p.s. I wear a casio F91w and a G shock.... so I would consider most sizes)
Regarding Breitling, IWC and Omega while they are great watches they are readily available and don’t appreciate in value like Rolex. My wrist are around 6.35” and the OP wears perfectly. I tried some used models on before I ordered it to make sure I’d like it.

Love this watch .. the size is also right … I just don’t like the hands and I don’t like hands and I don’t like that it doesn’t have a glide lock
It’s awesome and does have the easy link adjustment which works well for me.
The only rolex i want is this one, but does the lume stay visible whole time?
No it goes away after a few minutes just like any other lume but is bright blue.

The new Explorer sucks. They got the lug width and aggressive taper of the bracelet all wrong. Looks too cartoonishly small.
Prefer the OP36 all day for better fit and symmetry. After all the same movement and cheaper too!
I tried on the explorer and I just don’t like the way it looks on my wrist. The OP and DJ are so well laid out.
Explorer 1 sits perfectly on the NATO strap.
To each his own. Imo the new Explorer is probably the most elegant and comfortable watch theyve made in ages. Not a fan at all of the new Submariner tho.
