Awww…. I can relate. I bought the 36mm OP (12600) by chance from an AD. I let my dad tried it on Father’s Day. His face lit up. So it is now my dad’s. It is very special seeing it on his wrist because I got into watches because of him.
Lug-to-lug is pretty big for a 36mm watch and that's why it does not look super small on the wrist. The simplicity of the dial and color scheme is really nice looking, great watch!
Everything you have said re this OP, I can reiterate. I got rid of my 41mm OP, just too big. I bought this 36mm silver dial & it is absolutely stunning. Very understated, a very classy watch.
Good on you and you wife must be happy. I like the OP36 too. In fact, it’s the only Rolex I’d like to own if I have to choose. Understated, classy and versatile.
My favourite luxury watch. Simple. Clean. Elegant. My Google history says I keep coming back to it. A watch I would happily pass on to my son or daughter. One day . . .
I bought it yesterday. Exactly the same model, size and color. Dated 2014 but still accurate and in great condition. The owner didn’t wear it. He just kept it. Paid USD7,219 (S10,000)
I have the 126000 with silver dial and I could not be happier. Simple, yet absolutely stunning in almost any light and situation. And it’s running at +/- 0 seconds a month. Never been this lucky even with Rolex before.
What a beauty. Thank you so much. I really was considering this last year, but the new 36mm Explorer is definitely the one.....super legible, safety clasp, anti reflective coating, the lume, the 3,6,9... cannot wait... it won't be easy to get one
Thanks for sharing! I have a similar experience. I recently bought the 36mm Woodland Green Traska Commuter and found that I really prefer the smaller size. It now gets the majority of my wrist time. Even has AR on the sapphire!
You've just made me prouder to be a subscriber. I tuned out after the details of your gesture (lol) now I have to watch again. You're a wonderful man and husband Pete!
I had the same experience when my wife saw the watch I had just received, fortunately it was a vintage Raketa Perpetual Calendar watch that cost £50, not a Rolex. It is still her favourite watch and if she's happy so I'm I
I believe since 2020 Rolex provide anti-reflective coatings on the underside of the crystal only and on both sides of the cyclops magnifier on the date models. Anyway, I really like the Tiffany blue, pink and coral dials of the latest iteration of this model 🙂
Being a leather strap man I was expecting some wrist shot in some of your different leather straps. But missed it. Everyone shows any Rolex with Oyster or Jubilee bracelet. But if I ever own a datejust or an explorer I am going to use them with straps and not with bracelets. I would like to have your opinion.
I understand why they don't use anti-reflective coating as it's prone to scratches and can ruin the look of the watch. I think they'll absolutely use it once they've got it figured out properly. They have at least fixed bracelet on latest OP and I appreciate the quick adjustment
Can’t help myself, I think the Oyster Perpetual is the perfect Rolex. Yes the Explorer etc are fantastic, but the OP is Rolex design at its finest and most essential. It’s a Rolex for those who want the Rolex design not just the glamourous brand
Good question..for me these are completely different beasts...ones beautiful to look at and wear (OP) whereas the other (Omega) is more tactile, tool-ish and minimalist in form Cant say I have a preference, but both great in their own unique way for sure 👍
Dear Peter; Many thanks for another great video. I checked the same watch around 20 min and I decided to buy black one. In fact it was very impressive watch however visibility is pretty important for me especially evening time while I drive. That is the only reason why i chose black dial. I tried the white dial however it was around 550eu expensive than the black one. Kind Regards Levent
Rolex do put AR coating on the inside of the crystal, the reason being - AR gets scratched quite easily and I can say from my experience, the 10 months of "no crystal" experience isn't worth seeing hairline scratches all over the crystal for the rest of the ownership of the watch. Nice review, thanks!
Wow ... never seen an hommage that gets so close to the legendary Seiko SNXS79! Just kidding. Stunning watch. And there is no better reason to buy such a wonderful watch than to gift it to someone you love. Well done!

I've just bought the 41 mm , they say it measures at 39.5 mm don't think I would want any smaller myself, saying that my first Rolex was a 36 mm datejust in 1989 and I loved that I must say .

I think a quartz Grand Seiko would be a good gift to someone not bothered about automatic watches. Outstanding finishing and +/- 10s/year.

Funny enough, I actually tried that exact watch on 4 months ago at my AD and it almost ticked the right boxes. I felt a little detached from the flat bezel (smooth version) I actually prefer the slightly rounded smooth bezelled from the previous generation,..a little more of a classical feel.
Also at 41mm, for my wrist it looked a tad on the larger side, I would have loved it to be 39mm
The dial was beautiful though,...
I will keep looking,..
Cheers
Lucky wife 😁 she has good taste.
For once I wish I never watched your video. I checked my Submariner and the X and R do not line up and it's fake. Just kidding mate. I've never noticed that before. Do you think that is deliberate by Rolex because the crown is at the 12?
Yep, that’s a nice detail
I thought you were upset because now you were gonna gift the wife you’re Rolex 😂😂😂😆😆😂
