    Honestly, no one cares what watch you wear. You deserve to enjoy that beautiful watch. Do it for you. Anyway, buying an alternative “everyday” watch won’t solve the real issue. Tackle the problem, and wear the watch.

    I prefer to wear my most expensive watch (Speedmaster) daily because I spent so much money on it. The more I wear it, the less it costs per use. If you only wear your best watch on special occasions, how many of those occasions happen through the year, maybe once a month? Is that then worth it for what you paid? No one cares what you wear but you. If they do, then they have a problem being judgmental. I say if you love it, wear it!

    My two cents - you bought the watch for a specific reason and desire, if you then choose not to wear it because you think it’s not ‘Rolex’ enough then you need to rethink why you purchased it in the first place. Don’t care what others think. I can guarantee a random guy in public won’t be thinking wow he’s only wearing an OP 36 not a Daytona.

  • @josephhein9497
    @josephhein9497 7 месяцев назад +7

    "I don't wear it because it doesn't scream 'Rolex'"... And here I am, envying that you got an OP36 in blue, which I'd kill for. You need to re-evaluate the situation, my guy.

    I think we’re similar, I absolutely love the OP range and this is 👌🏽 I would disagree and say this is something you can wear in any occasion, to dinner a and wedding, and then on a beach or on an adventure.. the GMTs are too loud for everyday

  • @lettuce1305
    @lettuce1305 7 месяцев назад +4

    I personally think the OP36 can do it all but if you want something flashy and announces it's a Rolex then get a Datejust with the fluted bezel and jubilee bracelet or a two-tone GMT as even the black ceramic Sub isn't that flashy imo.

    • @spittinvenom9843
      @spittinvenom9843 6 месяцев назад

      The Sub is pure class, proper timepiece while the TT stuff is flex

    • @lettuce1305
      @lettuce1305 6 месяцев назад +2

      @@spittinvenom9843 yes I agree, I'm a huge fan of the Sub, Explorer, and Sea Dweller. Even a SS GMT with its polished center links is loud enough for me. I'm just saying that the owner of the OP thinks it's too understated and wants something that announces as a Rolex, so was suggesting a TT Rolex.

      @@lettuce1305 I find Rolex has two classes, the ones that are for purists and ones for ballers, I lean towards the first group. Honestly, seems like the OP bought a Rolex to flex then quickly learned no one cares what you wear except for watch lovers and thieves

    • @lettuce1305
      @lettuce1305 6 месяцев назад

      @@spittinvenom9843 I agree, Rolex buyers mostly fall into 2 camps, the vast majority who are flexers and just buy a Rolex just because it's a ROLEX or the minority purists/true enthusiasts who buy Rolex because they recognise Rolex makes some of the most reliable and well made tool watches out there. Sometimes you can tell from the watch of their choices.

    I think the 116000 has real understated beauty and looks more impressive in person than on film. I'll add that only a few people will notice your watch when out on the town or at work. In fact I get more compliments on my Summer Blue Omega AT than I do my GMT Master II, which is funny to me sort of lol. But I completely understand all your points made in this video, just remember the watch is for, making you feel that little extra spice in the morning when you strap it on your wrist.

    • @Noidzor

      I agree, the reason this model is “affordable” is because it’s a simple Rolex watch with no complications, not sure why he would then complain about it not being flashy enough…

    I have this watch, I wear it everyday, everywhere, no one has ever noticed what it is, and these days that’s a very good thing, wear it, it’s not fragile, it’s beautiful.

  • @ChristyOFaghan
    @ChristyOFaghan 6 месяцев назад +1

    like many who have commented, i'm not sure i understand the problem - even you yourself say it's an understated piece, so wearing it as an everyday watch to work isn't flaunting wealth or shoving it in colleagues faces and if anything, would simply make you look more professional and put together

      my guess is they don't want the OP to look too similar to the Explorer

    • @JaxWatchesandEDC
      @JaxWatchesandEDC 26 дней назад

      @@lettuce1305 I bought this instead of an Explorer. I love the Explorer dial layout, but I love it so much more in blue😁. This particular OP probably did cannibalize some Explorer sales at the time.

    • @lettuce1305
      @lettuce1305 7 дней назад

      @@JaxWatchesandEDCI agree as much as I love the Explorer, given the choice I would take the OP36 369 Blue dial instead as to me it's a rather special watch and I really don't think Rolex would make another OP or Explorer with a blue 369 dial anymore.
      In recent years Rolex has been making more distinction between the models. If you take a look at 90s/00s Datejust/AirKing/OPs many of them look very similar to each other, and also between the Sea Dweller and the Sub, the SD used to look very similar to the Sub except for slightly thicker case and no cyclops. If you compare them with the current line up, the DJ/AK/Exp and Sub/SD look different to each other now.

    Best Rolex period. Domed bezel is the king to me‼️💪🏆 Fluted bezel is gaudy✔️& flat bezel doesn’t work the same magic 🪄 with light!
    Love the 💙👑/369 marker combo. Only watch that compares is the BLACK 116000🖤… New OPs without the 5 minute marker numerals are too plain😴) 20mm lug width✔️ & the thicker lugs compared to Explorers & new OPs gives the case better proportions & wrist presence. Makes the 36mm dial feel more substantial. Just absolute Goldilocks-zone in every way to my eyes 😍
    Only problem for me is which one FIRST💙🤔🖤🥵🤯⁉️

  • @stocksxbondage
    @stocksxbondage 8 месяцев назад

    Personally, I think it’s underwhelming for ($5-10k). I’d say the same about the beloved Explorer 1 and 2. It’s a reason they’re the “cheaper” Rolexes. You don’t buy a Ferrari that looks like a Fiat. It’s a weird medium. Unless you absolutely adore the watch regardless of how flashy or dull it is, and it’s gotta be a Rolex, you might as well get a fluted bezel datejust and above with a jubilee bracelet. That’ll be Rolex enough but you’ll never feel even tempted to bring it to the office. It’d be like wearing a top hat lol. Too nice, too ridiculous.
    I think this is the problem with 1 watch collections or everyday watches. They’ll never be just right for anything specifically. Based on this video, I’d say sell it and get yourself a dress watch for special occasions and a very solid high quality yet subtle everyday watch for… everyday. Seems like you’d be way happier doing that that trying to make the oyster fit in every scenario when it’s just a weird flex to walk the dog or clean the house wearing a Rolex that doesn’t even announce itself as a Rolex 🤷🏽‍♂️ (again unless you just love the oyster. I really like the GMT Master II even though Timex, Seiko, and Tudor make similar looking watches). At every price point, objectively, Rolex is underwhelming in specs and finishing. Proportions and icon design with the Rolex crown is really all you’re getting. But for 1/3 of the price, you could find the same thing with a different logo. You’ve gotta love the Rolex lol

    • @navboi12
      @navboi12 8 месяцев назад +3

      You lost me at explorer 2 being underwhelming. One of the last true utilitarian pieces still in the collection. Heaps of character/history.

    • @stocksxbondage
      @stocksxbondage 8 месяцев назад

      @@navboi12 wouldn’t “utilitarian” also mean the design should be minimal and lackluster? You wouldn’t have a tool watch with the looks of a dress watch.
      I can’t argue character/history, because it’s subjective. Someone could say a $20 Casio and a $750,000 Patek has character and history. It’s loaded, because if you like the character and appreciate the history, you’d like the watch even if it were falling apart. I did say if you adore the watch, get it. But if you didn’t appreciate the character/history, you’re left looking at the watch very objectively then come the thoughts of “when do I even wear this?” like in the video.

    I feel like the Rolex Explore 1 and the Rolex OP line is the Rolex you buy for you! not to flex or others, but still want a nice Rolex you can take on the train or metro (like me) but still like to look down on you wrist and see a Rolex/nice watch
    I had the choice of buying the Rolex Explore 1 or the 2 a few years ago (Used, when there was very little money between the to) I tryed on the 2 and felt like you, im not a "Rolex flex guy", so i went with the Explore 1, and i still love it, and can take the train with no fear of getting mugged or anything, that "fear" you you are talking about, will go away overtime, and you will start to enjoy you great watch, for you
