Multiple events had taken place in my life while only having two rivals in this game within those years to this day. It's akin to a metaphorical reference from the initial Harry Potter book (the sorcerer’s stone) or any literary work as an example , and now the Half-Blood Prince copy had been released (or again any book series at its latest release), and still we find ourselves with only two rivals in Yandere Simulator.
Same, I was in my first year of junior high when the game became popular. I’ve already graduated college and I’ve been working since 2 years ago in my field.
@@KhanMann66 he could've just.... made new games??? even if they didn't go viral like yandere simulator i'm sure he could've built a decent audience edit: not saying he still can, i just think he didn't HAVE to be chained to yandere sim forever. moderate success with other projects is still valuable, but he was too arrogant, short-sighted, and lazy to see that.
@@hinasakukimi not really. Have you seen his main game? if he released it now, it would get shit reviews and there would be empirical evidence how absolutely flawed and unpolished it is. He's leaching because... well, once he publishes that's what everyone will see as "This is what Yandev considers a finished product" and far less people would come for the next game. Plus, it's more work. If he can leech a stable income off one unfinished game, why finish it and make more games? Your question is valid, your logic is right, but that's not his goal to create and publish multiple games. He's just simply not willing to do the work.
Little tip about the long ass wait times after cleaning time: In the library theres a book that lets you skip ahead 30 minutes. How are you supposed to know about this? By reading every single one of alex's blog posts of course!
From what I remember, the original intent was for Info-Chan to be the final antagonist, and to be revealed as the daughter of the journalist from the collectable lore tapes. (The Journalist found evidence against the mother in 80s mode, she had it destroyed, Journalist had his entire reputation ruined for seemingly blaming an innocent young girl at court, and then was threatened with death by her if he ever spoke up again). In fact the reason the Mom is missing during the game is the Journalist was snooping around again right before the game started and Mom's gone overseas to kill him. He would have died near the end and Info-Chan would turn on Ayano and attempt to take the massive sums of incriminating info to the police, you and your mom would work together to stop her. (i think you would have needed to complete 80s mode to get the good ending)
YES. THat's lliterally what it was ToT AAHHAGGG This game was actually SUPPOSED to be like this guy described he wanted (Except still witth the weeks but better) BUT IT'S JUST N O TTTTTT
That would've been so good because that opens up the possibility of multiple endings: 1: If you fail to stop her, Info-chan will expose Ayano and Ryoba for their crimes, so they are arrested and sentenced to death for multiple murders. 2: You can run away and go underground, although Ayano and Ryoba would be exposed, they would live the rest of their lives in another nation with fake identities. So on and so forth. I know this will never happen in the official game, but that's what mods are for.
That actually sounds like a decent villain storyline. I wish somebody would just make a version of yansim that was actually decent, and without the sus shit in there.
fnaf is younger than yandere simulator and theres around 14 completed games with lore and yandere dev is still in the development of his second rival 😭
@@aaaaaaaa-lb9loIt’s more of an emphasis on how much more FNAF was able to accomplish within a similar time frame 😭 I can’t believe they are already coming out with a SECOND movie!
(I respond a little late ik) It's actually because at that time 2 games came out that were yansim remade to work well (And more interesting) and the ex yansim fans were giving them a lot of support. So Alex, being the pathetic manchild he is, simply rushed out an ugly version of the final game with a reskin And threatened to sue the creators of the other two games (although he couldn't because all their assets were from the Unity store) The excuse was that It was important to the plot and he was working on it at the same time as the base game but he didn't wanted to spoil it And coincidentally, just at the announcement of those two games, he was already close to finishing and Announce the 1980's mode
@@DrawingSackSL but those other games never came out, right? I remember there was one that was getting a lot of support and then everything went south because of controversies with the team
So true, he trying to make us fear a rival, but I took her down on Monday, choking her with a tape measure. Then I was bored all week, reading manga, doing part-time jobs, then I found out that the game only has 2 rivals after 10 years, so I uninstalled it.
Sometimes I think that Alex was making a game to transfer himself into the role of Senpai, who is chased by many girls to compensate for his failed relationships. It's like Lord Farquaad and his castle.
its a hitman inspired game by someone who doesnt understand why hitman is so good. keyword: its freedom. you can LITERALLY do anything you want and kill anyone you want however you want with the consequences only being you get a bad score at the end. Oh also there isnt a magical invincible guard next to your target at all time
Watching further into the video, it seems like 1980s mode is much better because its MORE similar to hitman 😭the implied intended murder method that you dont HAVE to follow, the 'heres an obvious way to kill someone but theres people watching, its up to you to distract them however you want' are basically hitman mission stories. the only thing is in hitman you also have the option to do it with everyone watching and then you can just shoot them all with a gun or knock them all out, or run away from a full on shoot out if you really want to. If you cant tell i REALLY like hitman
Yan Sim does allow for a lot of freedom tho. Yes it has more consequences that Hitman but that's also the fun of the game. You actually need to get away with stuff unnoticed, and it takes skill to do it. I'm a seasoned player of this game, and I can tell you once you master its mechanics everything becomes more enjoyable, even in the 202X mode. There are a lot of creative ways to take out even Osana, you just need to learn the mechanics and memorize the palcement of students around the school Raibaru (Osana's body guard) is one of those ideas that works better on paper than it does in practice, but you can play around her and there is also an option to de-power her when you start a game. (Just for carity I don't support the Dev ofc)
@@nuotatorre8741 sorry i shouldve clarified that i was comparing the schemes of yansim versus hitman mission stories: I do think yansim allows a lot of freedom when you completely ignore the schemes, but players can't do that unless they've been following development or they read a manual of the mechanics, but in hitman you can follow the mission stories without feeling totally restricted and for the really good mission stories you feel like you're not even following a tutorial at all. Sorry lol i didn't make it clear at all but i was talking about those mechanics specifically
@@rinchannowrinchannow No worries 😁 but in all honesty if you do the tutorial at the start you don't really need the schemes. I'm not sure why YD keeps them in, he know nobody uses them anyway. Again just engaging with the tutorial at any level makes the schemes basically useless, safe for the non violent methods but those are easier to follow than the violent ones, since they are usually more step to step process anyway.
@@ZukaUnare i mean he still does play it pretty often and stated that one should separate the art from the artist, althiugh the latest video on his playlist is from almost a year ago

@@mersyvortex4129 I don't exactly remember, it's been literal years since I've played or even heard of the second game, but I think it's not as good as the first. The puzzle game aspect is mostly gone, you can just kill people the same way.i think the focus is less on the killing aspect and more on the story which I remember being an ok story. But again, it's been years I don't remember much outside of that so take it with a grain of salt.
1:24 "all characters depicted in this game are 18 years and older" 1. They don't look 18 2. This is an high school game 3. So you're saying is, this is an senior level school in which you are only here for 1 year or held back 2 times and graduate. Or an college, in which case, makes zero sense
the retarded lore of this game states that this is a school for students to come back to for one more year (post-graduate school) yet we have a girl who gets bullied, a bully that used to be bullied that doesn't need to bully others yet she does anyway, and delinquents who don't listen what a stupid excuse and it makes no sense at all!
hey thats how the "everyone needs to be legal age" limitation works when youre trying to have a anime game with some goon capabilities. almost like everyone forgets what its like to be a hormone crazed teenager
1. But how do you know that? Are you solely going off the uniforms? Are the faces too young? A lot of anime girls look young but aren't under age teens. The counselor doesn't look different from the students (by face). 2. Yeah not a great setting for it but you still can have 18 year olds in high school. 3. Your strongest point. Yeah in order for this to be "okay" everyone has to be 18 which means everyone there are seniors and it is more contrived. A college setting would make more sense but alas these coomers only know of Japanese high school.
@@Omega_speed Yes. Even though TinyBuild milked tf out of Hello Neighbor, there still good game developers. And YandereDev fired them cus he sucks at coding
@@rando2517 I mean, there's also the Garten of Banban style of game design where they pushed out a weird DBD clone and... everything else that they did. There's a lot more to that story.
The biggest road block for yandere simulator isn’t the story It’s not Alex It’s not his spaghetti coding It’s the feature creep I say this as someone who watched all the development videos as a kid Alex has a HORRIBLE habit of when a thing is taking ages to code he will “take a break” which will mean adding a new feature that’s just a minigame You didn’t even address it but around 2018? He made a video asking “guys would it be intrusive if you had to do a QuickTime event to fight the delinquents? Like in yakuza” And everyone was like “DONT FUCKING ADD IT; WE DONR NEED IT” and he went “ohhhhh I see you don’t want it but it was quick and easy to code so I did it anyways” The whole game is like this. Below is a list of unrelated stuff you could do
- do a minigame for money, this money is useless as all it does is give you unrelated items that are also time wastes or pay a criminal in 1980s mode to kidnap your rival which…..why are you paying to skip GAME? - all the video games - the extra modes for all video games - stupid Easter eggs if you dare go into the files and fuck with stuff because how dare you touch lord Alex’s precious code - FUCKING CRAFTING- THIS IS NOT NEEDED ITS JUST COMPLICATED BULLSHIT FOR SMOKE BOMBS - Easter egg modes which are copyright violations, Toby fox even told off yandere dev for making bad time mode, he didn’t remove it he just modified it - the consoler (she’s only used for a elimination mode, being caught by her is STUPUD easy to get out of, just apologise and she lets you go) - the sheer size of this school, it’s so big and most of the time it’s just to hide Easter egg items - the whole demon knife easter eggs where you can summon a demon to possess you - every. Club. Activity. - placeholder rivals for main game - dialog/secret cutscenes for npcs that aren’t important to the plot, no joke the basu sisters have a unique cutscene each day - the biking to school game; it’s utterly pointless he says it’s to “add the potential to see your rival doing something bad outside of school”, this has never been used - PLANNING. DLC. CHARACTERS. THIS IS NOT A JOKE - the snooping mechanic (it litterally costs like 15 info points to learn some info on them making this mechanic useless) - don’t ever pay for ribaru to go home, sure info can call her saying her dog got ran over but she’ll decide “nahhhh I won’t go home :)” - the place holder tutorial (the tutorial isn’t suppose to be a huge text wall but omg why would you add it like this? This looks so bad)
- the discord lore where you can talk to an unrelated person to the story purely to get a “haha im not a murder id be crazy if I was talking to one!” Joke, this takes 5 days to see the whole thing through - snapping mode, genuinely why?
@@Strawberry_Cubes, so about whole minigames to earn the money, buying videogames and crafting (especially the smoke bomb part) mechanics. I think, Alex is just took these mechanics from Persona 5 or heck any Persona from 3 to 5. My guesses? He probably just found them cool and just put them in a game for sake of it, not even bothering to understand what's made them good in first place. Though, of course I can be mistaking, maybe these mechanics exist in some other games that I'm not aware of besides it and I live myself to a meme "Is that Persona reference?!", but all 3 of these coincidentally exist in these games or partly in some of them, which is also big coincidence because Alex played Persona 5 on his streams. Add that to fact that pretty much entire game is a big pile of stolen asset, I think it's safe to assume that Alex just stole these mechanics and added it because he can.
I've graduated college, got a job & bought a house before this game is finished. I remember looking forward to each update videos when I was in high school and was even considering donating to YanDev's patreon, luckily I didn't end up spending a dime for him lol
The main problem to me is that YandereDev writes his sandbox game like a visual novel. He writes specific narratives of actions Ayano has to go through, and it's up to the player to pick which one to follow. It's basically the same thing as pressing A at the screen to read the text. As a visual novel, this could be an insane game, actually - with a bunch of different choices that impact the story and set the player down different routes. But as a sandbox game, being handheld the whole way through just isn't enjoyable.
Alex once said YanSim was like a visual novel where one character went crazy and started to kill everyone. He's probably referencing that with what youre saying
@@jonal5126 in his words he actually describes yandere sim as the usual harem anime trope, except the twist is it turning into a horror game when Yanchan barges in and starts killing everyone. This explains why Taro is “bland” (male harem protagonists usually have little to no personality so the guys watching can self-insert) and why 10 girls are into him
@@sc-fx7cy that's really interesting. I find several aspects of the game really funny if I consider them as making fun of anime tropes. Including the weirder or creepier things. I guess I can add senpai's entire personality to that list, lol.
@@sc-fx7cy yeah, Yandev is definitely a pathetic human being, and it wouldn't surprise me if the game still isn't finished after 10 more years from now. But I'll still have fun with it and play numerous other games in the meantime.
Jay’s videos were very fast paced so you don’t see all the waiting or redoing. His videos that were 8-20 minutes probably took over 4 hours to record. Plus his personality made the game seem like a blast.
It's a fictional video game about murdering high schoolers. Not defending Yander Dev as a person but people need to chill with the panty shot stuff. If you don't like seeing nasty stuff then don't interact with a nasty game 🤷♀️
@@Celethio Have some sympathy please??? That trope is already harmful to begin with and you're just like "the game is nasty so deal with it and don't interact lmao". The game frames panty shots as non problematic stuff (like how Ayano didn't get punished for that) and murder as "kewl edgy dangerous girlz uwuwuw" Seriously, for god sake, don't make a comment if you're just going to invalidate someone who literally has been harassed 🤦🏻
The panty shots are a pretty based idea, but i feel like the game pussies out, with the black void beneath the skirts. Like really? Blood and Gore is okay, but panties on screen is too much? That's the west civilization for you. By doing this he ends up not pleasing anyone so it is unfortunately an L
This game is a very good example of something that came out of an idea loved by many, but was executed so terribly, it made everybody who ever thought "oh this sounds pretty cool" fucking resent it. That's why there's so many game devs that tried to create what yansim was supposed to be in spite of the original game and it's creator.
I have an idea called "Killer For Hire Simulator" where you play as an assassin who is completely broke! if one too many things go wrong then you could be assassinated yourself, lose your house or die of health issues since you can't pay for medical items in other words: it's real life but you can do murders because it's a game
sadly the reimagined YanSim games always somehow hit a dead end. We all know what happened to the most popular one made by Dr. Aepis(?), as well as many other games that get dropped due to toxicity, drama or loss of interest. It's like a curse
@ungabunga5789 I think it's party because of how hard it is to make something of worth out of spite. Not only that, but when drama gets a good grasp on something, it becomes a whole controversy magnet (maybe in a self-fulfilling prophecy way). Maybe another reason why it's so difficult for other yansims to thrive is because the idea is so specific, so it's not exactly like creating a competitor for the sims or something like that, and it's not the their own dream. If that last bit made sense 😅
@@Zomby.cMaybe it’s because they’re made out of spite, but imo the reason most of the clones failed is because they were made by inexperienced teenagers. DrApeis was barley out of high school and hired a bunch of volunteer teenagers to work on the game - that’s a recipe for disaster. All other fan games I’ve seen had a similar issue with teenagers and/or barely 21 year olds trying to make a massive open world stealth/strategy game that usually requires a whole professional team for an AAA studio to pull off properly. I think good games can be made out of spite, but relying on inexperienced teenagers to make a good game is never going to end well.
Yandere Sim development is fascinating to study. Alex mentioned in a video that when the fans created mods or specific speedrun challenge to have fun, he "couldn't help" but to add them officially into the game. In his point of view, he did it to "please the fans". In my point of view, he just couldn't let other people create cooler features linked to HIS game and wanted to get all the praise. This pattern continued for years, he let himself get distracted and we ended up with this mess of a game. There was also this story of a speedrunner who found a way to kill Osana in an original way using the game mechanics and Alex just... cancelled this method in an update. My guess is Yandere Dev doesn't like when players find ways to have fun with his game in a way he didn't intended to or wasn't involved with. (Again, everything has to be around HIM) That's why we have Info-chan and her long list of tasks. Those are the ways HE wants YOU to have fun. It's also interesting how you have so many different ways to kill a rival but only ONE DETERMINED path to execute it. If Alex was a DM, he'd be THAT GUY who keeps railroading you and get mad at you if you use creative solutions around a problem. It's an illusion of freedom and an insult or distrust of the player's intelligence. The best counter example of this I can think of is "Outerwild" ; the game pretty much throw you into the wild without telling you anything and yet it was the best gaming experience I had in my entire life.
OH MY GOD YES i heard of that someone found a way to kill osana and get around Raibaru and YanDev straight up patched it Incase your wondering how the dude put a bucket of gasoline on top of two doors and Osana walked through it and got Gas on her and by flicking a lighter you could Eliminate her early and YanDev patched this by making Raibaru able to smell Gasoline Like someone found a way to use the game's already difficult mechanics in a smart way and instead of being rewarded you get shafted??? The first rival is SUPPOSED to be the easiest
Your DM part reminds me of a terrible DND DM that would force us to progress in one way. He basically played our characters for us. If we tried something he didn’t want he would just tell us it doesn’t work or punish our characters only to then do it his intended way. I hated that guy!
For the "yandev wants people to have fun in his way" part, I don't think that's entirely true, bcs he did that video talking abt the Amai challenge and how players were getting creative with how they eliminate Amai and he realised that's what he always wanted his game to be. I also think info-chan's tutorials have to be bought for those who don't know what they're doing. If it was free like ryoba's, ppl wouldn't explore as much. And I've seen a lot of creative elimination methods
@@mimiisbored8622I can't entirely agree. For example, with the alphabet challenge, it started in the fandom as just the list of students to eliminate on the first day, that's it. Then he added it, unnecessarily cracking up the difficulty(making characters have different routines, everyone almost always surrounded by another character YOU CANT KILL) for no reason. It would've been fun for him to just make the list easily accessible in the game, not change it up

@@TemmiePlays The standard for tutorials in ANY good game isn't to throw a wall of text at the user, it's game, not a visual novel. Even the 1980's mode does it better, and that's shown in the video! @@Berilia So after looking at the official website, yes, Senpai's younger sister is the second to last rival, but she's described as overprotective and clingy, believing that if Senpai gets a girlfriend, he won't hang out with her as much. Nothing specifying her age, or how much younger she is than Senpai, or even which school she transferred from. Given how much further along in the game she is, I imagine some of these questions won't get answered anytime soon.....
@@joshuacapron8358It started as an incestuous thing. People ripped yansim to shreds and he changed it. The thing is YandereDev already tried to use Lucius as a framework for Yandere Simulator, I remember him bringing up this game in one of his youtube videos
Yeah, something about "one map, many unlocked areas." Alex's idea was that Lucius' house is under reconstruction and the house will unlock new areas. Alex mentioned something about new scaffolding and areas would be unlocked during the in-game's 10 weeks
7:20 Actually, there's a mechanic where you can go to the library and skip 30 minutes every time you choose the option to study when it's 3:00pm or later. It is good to pass time faster but it's just so annoying to be running from one point to the other just to skip time.
I think one of the biggest problems with Yandere Simulator is how actively the game is working AGANIST you. Besides like, literally just info-chan, it seems like every student is an active "tool," a security camera if you will. Take for example the Student Council. GOD are these guys annoying as all hell, they each take seperate "paths" with akane taking the role of checking the club rooms, shiromi looking outside, kuroko checking in the "spare" rooms, etc. The thing is... THAT IS NOT WHAT STUDENT COUNCILS DO. Now, I wouldn't mind this if it was only in the morning or something of the sort, but the problem is that it isn't. The ONLY time they ever stop monitoring is during class time and after school. That's IT. If you don't get rid of them in the morning, they can, and WILL ruin your run. They're pretty much there just to "keep an eye" on you, saying "hmm?" when you just walk by, PUSHING you when you accidentally bump into you, sometimes even being rude, (aoi for an example,) and just being an overall pain in the ass when it comes to gameplay, they're supposed to be likeable and charismatic, but its kind of hard to like them when they are an active foil to the player. "So just kill them!" Yeah, that's the thing. Like I previously mentioned, they push you, BUT there is a way to kill them by dropping an object on the floor, in the way of their path, having them pick it up, and only then can you finally kill them. Oh, but ACTUALLY if you kill even one, Megami automatically installs security and the school atmosphere drops to 0%. What the f**k. Also yes, getting sent to the councilers office for doing literally any thing is annoying, i got pissed just watching that clip. Another thing I wanted to mention was how the students work. The reputation system is absolute shit. Like, if you drop an item on the floor, someone will pick it up, (unless its a brought from home item, wait how do they know it's- oh nevermind,) and will take it to its original place and nobody will stare at them and they won't lose reputation points, however, if you, the player do that, (have an item in your hand without it being hidden,) you can not only get reputation loss, but also be sent to the council or even have a heartbroken ending if Senpai sees you. God. One final thing, it dosen't matter if they characters are over 18 or whatever, TAKING P*NTIES OF PEOPLE WITHOUT THEIR CONSENT IS THE PROBLEM. ESPECIALLY SINCE IT'S *HEAVILY* IMPLIED THEY'RE MINORS.
@ShellDrakeYT Another reason to hate the game (and Alex)… Senpai’s LITTLE sister is a rival, and she SOMEHOW is smart enough to get moved to his school. They’re apparently and somehow only 3 months apart from each other. Which is ultimate bs. She was supposed to be an inc*st rival. Removed, ofc. Now her “new” and improved story is that she doesn’t want her brother to get a girlfriend. That’s honestly (to me) stupid. He’s over 18, so he can just tell her no. And Hanako (his sister) CLEARLY ISN’T A LITTLE KID. But she ACTS like one and is infantilized. They’re literally in a Japanese high school with some of the batshit strictest rules I have ever seen. That’s coming from a middle schooler. Why can’t she be his twin and ALREADY in the school? And why can’t her reason for being a rival be that Taro is too attached to her because she left when they were kids (as in parent moved out with her), then he wouldn’t care about a girlfriend because he’s too focused on spending time with her? Or that HE’S overprotective. Everything has to be about the rivals, Taro has no personality. So that takes away a big chunk of opportunities. Also, why is every rival a club leader except for Hanako or Osana?
You're absolutely right. I've been in student council before, and I got to say, that we do not do that, and the teachers do not treat you like authority figures. They treat you like assistants or even event planners for student activities. You get to help set up prom and set up events. You also run concessions. You aren't signing up to be a bodyguard.
It's like the student council here don't actually do any of that. All they do is look around for trouble. That's literally what the teachers should be doing, or at least 2 to 3 of them. That's not supposed to be a student's job. I've had an actual security guard at my school before, it exists, and the teachers are trained for that in this game.
The only time I've actually been given authority to 'look around for suspicious activity' is at events. But usually, they would not let us, that is still endangering students, even if we are carrying pepper spray to defend ourselves with. It is not student counsil responsibility and it is not supposed to be.
1:36 Fun fact, this game used to actually be set in a high school. In earlier builds if a teacher were to call the cops after finding a body she would say "There's been a death at Akademi High School". Now whenever a teacher calls the cops the "high school" is cut out of the voice clip so it just says Akademi
If I were to make a Yandere Sim, here is what I would do: 1) Move it to a university instead of a highschool, because creeping on and murdering school kids is gross af 2) Make plenty of *non-violent* paths to choose to deal with rivals. Maybe set them up with someone else, get them a new job that is distracting, etc 3) Make murder hard but effective if done correctly, but have serious punishments if it is all you do. 4) Give the player a fixed amount of time to explore, learn, and level up stats before the first rival even happens. Give them time to get their bearings before charging forward. 5) Remove creepy mechanics like panty shots. It's disgusting and there is no excuse for it. The only *maybe* exception is some sort of blackmail system, but I'd be very hesitant to build something like that into the game. 6) Borrowing your idea, make it so an info broker can give you hints or updates on what rivals are doing or liking. They won't hold your hand, but they may give you clues to follow on later. Instead we got his trashy murder fic.
I think you mistunderstand what a yandere is. I don't think there should be a ton of non-violent paths... Yanderes are supposed to be murderous and clingy... They're very ill and would rather eliminate a person entirely instead of keeping them around. They're so insane that they think there's still a chance of someone getting with their partner if they're alive... You need to watch a yandere anime, so you can truly understand how fucked up their heads are. and on the contrary, Yandev has made killing way too complicated as is. Someone is always around your target, the target always has different schedules and hobbies, and some just don't go to certain places at all, not to mention there's invincible guards... The blackmail system might be interesting... If you want your game to be good, you can't be too scared to put in violence and touchy subjects. I do think the panty shots should be gotten rid of though. A yandere game should be very dark. That's what someone would come to it for. If you wanna tone down the subject, make it about a different "dere" instead. Making it in a university would also make it much better. I don't really see any issue about anything else you've said. A reputation system might be interesting... I imagine that if the yandere has a ton of friends and is good at keeping up appearances, maybe no one could believe she'd kill anyone. And thus, would make her seem less suspicious, even if a few terrible luck things happen around her... on the other hand, having friends would mean they're really nosy and wanting to know what you're doing so they can hang out with you, so.... that might not work out.
@@Knux5577 A yandere is not just a murder machine. Yes that is often how it is *presented* in modern iterations, but yanderes are just love sick individuals who go to obsessive and creepy lengths. That is why there would always be darker options to get rid of people. Blackmail, getting them potentially fired, getting them hired away from the area, etc would all be obsessively weird. You are still stalking your love interest to a point where you are changing the lives of any and all potential rivals. Nothing about the trope actually requires violence or murder, that is just often how it is portrayed. And I would leave it as an option, but there would be consequences if you do it too many times.
Yandere simulator became like that because Alex realized that people were having more fun doing random stuff and killing people than playing the actual game, so he didn't care about making the actual game fun
@@INFP-Turd I wouldn't go as far to say that. People have been shitting on the panty shot system since day one and it's still in the game. I've also seen people criticize how long it takes to do literally anything in the game for a hot minute and nothing has changed. Plus people are almost constantly pointing out how long its taking for the game to be finished and how ass it is because it's not finished. The dude clearly only cares about people pleasing if it takes less effort and doesn't require him to remove his fan service.
And we still have only 2 rivals with one not voiced nor have fully implemented cutscenes. *IT'S BEEN 10 YEARS, also he uploaded a video about the meaning of the characters LEGGINGS* (Thanks for 1k likes)
fr during the drama he did one of them in 2 months ??? he did 80's mode in 2 FUCKINGS YR like it wouldve been fine if he was working on the plot instead of tasks,or he has no team he had a group of ppl whom wanted to help , he had ten yrs , he wouldve had a 3 rd game by now OR EVEN HIS 4TH he is lying dude , he should js sell it let them fix it up
I would imagine it's harder now that he got himself into a bit of a pickle Meaning nobody probably wants to do work for him anymore Meaning I wouldn't be surprised if other rivals would take years more to voice
"The panty shots are okay because the characters are all definitely 18" Even if they were, that's just saying sexual crimes are acceptable against adults.
Seriously. This is a disgusting feature I cannot wrap my head around someone implementing. Games and media can have dark and mature content… … This isn’t dark, this is just perverse, weird, and gross to either be “””edgy””” and different, or more likely, Dev is just a creep. There is seriously never a time in which a game should be PUSHING AND MAKING A MAINSTAY FEATURE creeping on someone and taking photos of people’s genitalia. It’s just…blegh.
@@myuutWell, one is unnecessary to the game entirely and another is what the entire game is based on. Nobody said killing was fine but panty shots are not. We all know both are not morally just, but it's about the reason why these features are into the game.
Yansim and FNAF came out in the same year, 2014. Both games received massive acclaim early on. They were given love and support from fans. Fans who wanted to work on their games. In the time it took Alex to finish a single rival, let's look at what Scott Cawthon has done. 10 games (16 if you count the spin-offs), not to mention the other 2 games on the way. 26 books (19 of which have 3 stories each) And a feature-length film that broke records (with a sequel that's currently being worked on).
19:34 About the 1980's shopkeepers actually... Their original designer actually made a video about her experience working with Alex and while I don't remember much, I do remember that he asked her to design them in a retro/old anime style (unpaid btw) and then later on had his main artist redraw them in the game's usual style, declaring the old designs as "placeholders", which is really disrespectful to all the UNPAID work that went into those designs
I remember when YanSim was at the height of its popularity, and as a young 13 to something year old with no clue about how not all computers can run all games, I played it on my grandma's computer. Holy fuck I wasn't able to play the game like at all I wasn't able to leave the loading screen of it. This game is not at all friendly for player with low-end devices
Yes literally, when I was younger I tried downloading it and my computer wasn't very good at the time, it completely lagged and i just immediately deleted it
I remember in 2014 I played like 5-10 minutes of it on my low end 2012 laptop. Lagged a big but I got in early enough to play a build that didn't destroy my device.
Fr, the game has a cool concept, I just wish that the creator 1. cared about the game 2. wasn't so horny for children.. nevermind this game should have been created by a different person. Great video, anyway.
imagine if in fnaf animatronics could only visit you once per night and then come back on a stage so you don't have to do anything for the rest of the night. this is how playing yandere simulator feels like
New viewer here: absolutely love how you can be incredibly wholesome (Making Fanart for Small Streamers series) yet hold an incredible amount of rage (this video so far, might watch more). Immediately subscribed!!
It’s interesting that the gameplay you prefer featured in the 1980s mode is exactly how the normal game used to be. I wonder why in the world it was changed
Ya know what's real funny? The first rival used to be easy to kill if you knew the tricks which lead to speedruns but Alex didn't like that people could get creative and find fast ways so he implemented safeguards (like the first rivals bodyguard) so people couldn't speedrun it.
iirc that's also why you get caught for like. carrying basically anything around (like the bucket in this video), not just weapons. or teachers omnisciently knowing the moment you have some something instead of you killing in front of one or being visibly bloody after hiding everything.
i remember a speedrunner found a quick and easy elimination using gasoline in a bucket on a door and a nearby candle. alex went and specifically patched THAT speedrun elimination out because "getting away with murder shouldn't be easy!!!!!"
@@sillymari01 ah yes, in a game which takes placein 2026, where every man, woman, and child is carrying a portable camera and telecommunications device in their pocket, where forensics are better than they've ever been, and every western country has tons of security cameras and a veritable police force watching many aspects of everyone's day-to-day lives. Obviously the _gasoline can_ is the problem. Not like killing someone with a knife and casually showering afterwards makes murder any easier, yandev...
I feel like the phrase “getting away with murder” means no one knew a murder even happened. There are plenty of ways to commit murder in this game without cleaning up the body: just throw away the weapon, clean your clothes, laugh off the sanity drain.
Ok, so basically: Step 1: Start making a game Step 2: Go on a bunch of wild sidequests that don't correlate to the main game at all Step 3: Make an actually good game as a second mode on the side Step 4: Continue the main game... With more sidequests ofc Step5: Profit???
For the time passing part, you can actually go to the library after class to skip 30 minutes per use (you can use it up to 4 times per day, i think) and gain 1 extra study point.
Remembered when i downloaded this in like 2017 or 2018 when i was younger and my dad said "this says its 18 + dont play it child" and I'm glad we listened to him lol, i stuck to just watching cube scouts i mean kubzscouts playing it instead
I'm autistic and for some reason one of my special interests is yandere simulator. Great video but I have some corrections about the game 1. You CAN win without following the schemes exactly. There are ways to naturally discover methods of eliminating a rival, its just that it takes a lot of waiting and observing your rival to do so. You can also just outright kill them with your own plan. You can find a place in their daily schedule where they're more vulnerable and kill them while you distract other rivals, you can find places where they stand for a while and leave water there while you throw a car battery, you can place buckets of water or gasoline on top of doors to make a trap so they run to the showers alone to change, etc. It's not exclusive to the methods in the plan, it's just that without a tutorial it is extremely difficult to discover a lot of the interesting and convoluted ones yourself. I highly recommend to anyone who wants to play this game to PLAY 1980S MODE FIRST. It gives you an actual tutorial and naturally teaches a lot of the things you need to know for the original game. You might not even need the schemes in the original game on your first playthrough 2. To get info points, you don't HAVE to take panty shots. You can go to different rooms and locations in the game and find places to plant bugs for info chan, but its just the easiest to take panty shots. 3. There's more useful things in the menu then just the task button. The talk button allows you to increase friendship points (although more slowly) and to increase your reputation, and the gossip button works to lower other students reputation. You can research people by stalking their socials on your computer at home, which reveals all their interests and opinions. 4. There is a way to time skip after 3:30, you have to go in the library and study to pass the time. It also gives you extra study points to use in class to upgrade your stats. 5. You can join clubs to earn different stats easier or by default. They also give you access to special club items that you can use in your elimination plan. For example, you can join the martial arts club to automatically increase your strength, the gaming club to increase any stat by a whole bar once a day, the drama club to gain access to gloves and masks to conceal your identity/hide fingerprints on weapons, the art club to make it non suspicious to be bloody, cooking club to increase your reputation faster by handing out food, etc.
Every student is so dramatic, they have the same reaction to me holding a mop and holding a knife. Like Ayano could have been cleaning juice or something? And why is everyone so suspicious it was understandable that the teachers would be suspicious because of the Ryoba incidents but the students? It doesn't make sense Edit: When Ayano gets into a fight with a delinquent, people (especially Senpai) blame her first? If a shady guy carrying a weapon starts swinging at a "normal schoolgirl" like Ayano they shouldn't assume she's the threat. Since Ayano's whole thing is faking being a sweet schoolgirl then her classmates shouldn't jump to conclusions. I suggest that the students only blame her if her reputation is low or if she's visibly insane
@@jonal5126 Also I don't know why Senpai goes "Who.... Who is this girl! 😭" Whenever she gets a LITTLE bit close to him. It's like he has five sticks lodged up his keister
They're all suspicious because yandev wanted to make "hitman in a high school" but all he got was "if you do suspicious shit people get suspicious" but didn't notice the things people get suspicious at in hitman are stuff like carrying a gun openly as a civilian or dragging a corpse around or something like that, not carrying a wrench or a mop.
I'm pretty sure I heard something about Japanese students often cleaning schools (idk if it's only a half truth or something) but that kinda made me think back, why TF would a game set in Japan (known for being clean as hell) have the students get so suspicious about people carrying trash bags, mops and water?? Like yeah I can understand if the bag was shaped like a human body, but like, dude cmon
A Majority of People knew that Jay from The Kubz Scouts literally carried this game on his back for years! Doing vids on challenges, modes, updates, and being amazing. But once all the stuff came out. Jay peaced the scene. We saw what lil hope this game had die out faster than the light bulb.
And one thing I noticed was CoryxKenshin playing the game once or 3 times. as much as it annoyed me that he didn’t continue playing it. Im glad. I love Jay for doing the mods, challenges and hacks but cory knew deep down inside that it was so tedious and didn’t fall into the constant cycle of waiting on a useless update or mod
@@Kaixjss I hear that. After a certain point, Jay did the same. Only playing it like once a year or when an update came out. I remember one time when I saw a video I was like ‘oh crap that exists still?’
5:55 tbh that doesn't make it okay. But you're also not playing as a character who does "okay" things. You're playing a girl who is ready to murder because of her obsession.
Agreed, but, I did hear from Michaela Laws (Ayano's VA) that if the game got enough money donated, that there may be an option to change Senpai & potentially Yan Chan's gender.
This sucks as one of those kids who was really fixated on this game growing up. Sometimes I still find myself drawn to the game as it has unfortunately become one of those games I have a soft spot for. The reason for that was just because of RUclipsrs like Kubzscouts, Markiplier, Jacksepticeye, etc. making the game actually look interesting. So glad I did not join his Discord server when I was a child.
same, i guess it was really just my fave youtubers that made it look compelling 😭 i was so interested in it at like age 9 or 10 bc of them that i would earnestly watch all of the yandev update vids. eventually my interest waned luckily before shit hit the fan but man. sad
As an avid player of this shit-tastic game, you can skip time by 30 minutes after 3. go to the library and go to this alarm thingy then you can skip. also if you want more info points you can also place bugs. its fucking stupid tbh 💀💀AND UR RIGHT. 1980s is 1000 percent better
can someone just make a better YanSim with better designs and better character writing where we can keep the characters as highschoolers without it being creepy? please, I'll help you!
@@yuliannaartybasheva331 because a teenager with no psychical training could totally fight a whole gang with weapons. 8:42 HOLY BASED Drake for using Ghost Trick's ost. I thought only like 10 people on this planet know about this game. You just gave me a flood of nostalgia.
The worst thing is, I actually think that an over the top murdery goofy comedy game set in a Japanese high school poking fun at the genre conventions of shoujo and fanservice anime would be really funny and enjoyable if it wasn’t a) entirely unaware of the fact that the characters aren’t supposed to be good or protagonists, b) drake’s wet dream, and c) objectively terrible, as a game
Yes, what you like isnt made by Alex Mahan (or smth dont know how to spell his name), it's made by young unpayed volunteers. Illustrations, 3D models and furnitures, music, voice acting, he didnt do it. Just the code, which he isnt even good at
Honestly, as someone who started playing the game this year, I find it incredible how everyone sees it as "complicated" when for me it has always been easy (and for the vast majority of its fandom), I guess in terms of gameplay it is not for everyone or I am just the weird one here, one detail is that the rivals in the main mode also have specific methods, they are just not as obvious as those in the 1980 mode. Well I think that's the problem, the game only works if you're a fan, the game is way too aggressive towards new players, like, why would it be wrong for you to carry a bucket? I think things like that are the reason why ABSOLUTELY NO ONE who's playing it for the first time manages (or wants to) to get past week 1.
My biggest problem with the game is how weird every student is. Pedodev could have easily added another way of punishing the player for letting students see them carry things that are used for murder or to get away from one, but his lazy ass thought that a girl carrying a bucket should award the same reaction as a girl carrying a knive in a very suspicious way And when he was confronted about this, he made shit up like "oh that's just how Ayano perceives her classmates!!"
that's the thing every single character is unbelievably dramatic, including sanpai which is the reason why a lot of people genuinely do not like him, not to mention I'm just gonna go out and say this the rivals are insufferable, they were meant to be likable so it's harder for you to dispose of them by killing them, so you try to move around it and either befriend them match make them, but no every fucking rival even the ones that has not been introduced yet and I honestly don't see a future where they're gonna be introduced before I might just go into retirement, but that's besides the point, not one of them has an actual redeeming quality where you sit there and say maybe they are likable, no, the first rival is a straight fucking bully, with a (no hate to va) annoying voice, and for some reason a bodyguard, who of course happens to be so unbelievably vigilant that she can fucking smell gasoline from a mile away, and detect electricity what the fuck is she a dog? The second arrival is not that bad to be honest there's nothing about her she's like white bread, she's just a goody two shoes that's pretty much all there is about her, the third rival is a delusional overconfident actress with nothing else, there's no vulnerability, at least from what I'm seeing right now obviously this is still surface level judgment, but is there in the first two who have no deeper meaning to them, nothing that makes an actual character, I don't have any hopes for the third one, I don't remember the fourth or anyone after that beside the 3 who are unbelievably problematic, the fucking teacher, which is disgusting on so many fucking levels I cannot put into words, then just to make it even worse is his sister....really? No one else is available? His fucking sister? And why not continue on the very pedophilic feel because apparently Alex is not enough the teacher is not enough, no let's add a fucking nurse, yeah that's the stuff right there, so it's Timmy seems like Alex is actively trying to make these characters unlikable, not because they're trying to steal senpai who we are supposed to be very in love with which whatever the fuck that is he's literally the equivalent of watching paint dry, no they're unlikable because there's nothing to invest in them, for the ones that makes sense and then there is three that are absolutely disgusting to even think about let alone actually make into an actual rival, 2 pedophiles, and a case of incest? Like what the fuck? and the game itself is really clunky, because of the overdramatic reaction to quite literally everything, it feels way too restrictive
@ghost._.127 I FULLY AGREE! Especially with his sister! Hanako (sister’s name) COULD have been good if she actually had a reason to be a rival. If she was a year older or his older twin sister and she was overprotective of him, sure. If she came back to the school because of her mom/dad remarrying and her being sent to live with Taro’s mom/dad, sure. If it was divorce, it would probably be Taro being too focused on seeing his sister again and be too focused to have a girlfriend, rejecting or telling some girl to leave in a cutscene while he’s talking to her and giving a hint for Ayano. Maybe his sister is his twin and not 3 MONTHS APART WHICH IS IMPOSSIBLE! What if his sister is older and works as one of the teachers IF Ayano manages to kill one off? Optional rival! What if she gets a job at the school and works as idfk? Missed opportunities. Instead, we have an infantilized teenage girl who’s only reason for being a rival is that “she doesn’t want her BIG BROTHER to get a girlfriend~” and she called Taro “big brother” WAYYYY too often.
@ghost._.127 Also, for a better and improved story for the game, watch OctoInks redesigns for Yan Sim! They’re REALLY good and they actually improve the story a bit (“they” as in OctoInks, I don’t know their gender)!
@@ThatGalFromDominoes there are so many possibilities for this, he could have gone the route a very emotionally charged house, with an emotional abusive parents, so the brother and sister grew incredibly close, and they view themselves to be the only family each other's have, so both of them are incredibly protective of each other, and especially after being separated because of a divorce between the parents and each parent took one of the children, before they were united again, so they both care about the other's opinion, and make sure to make time for each other especially now that they're in school together, so sanpai is always around her, just reminiscing over the years they have been away from each other, and that way it restrict you into really only one way of eliminating her, which is befriending her and giving out a very good impression on her, that she becomes one of your cheerleaders, and that could actually affect the rest of the rivals mechanics, like i just googled it apparently one of the rival is a delinquent, which was supposedly one of the most difficult one, but because you have the sister as an ally, you don't have to worry too much about her, and it's gonna be like necessary for you to not dispose of the sister by killing her because it's just gonna be an immediate game over, because obviously sanpai is gonna be unbelievably distraught, he's just gonna drop out of school, but nooo! why make it logical why make it actually fun? nahhh borderline incest is the way to go, yeahh, which I'm not surprised about in the slightest, because again there are not one but two adults who are considered fucking rivals, the teacher and the nurse, as if one is not enough, it's so fucking slimy and disgusting, I honestly dropped my interest in the game since all the rivals were introduced, and that little clip video before I knew a person with an actual functional relationship with romance would not even suggest this
He also admitted he plans on Ayano having nothing but terrible endings anyway... That she'll be rejected no manner what she does. What's the point in playing a game you can't possibly win and the prize Taro is supposed to cheat on Ayano in the future anyway. :/
It’s definitely because he is self inserting. He likes the idea of a girl blindly chasing him and doing everything for him, being madly in love with him. But he doesn’t like the idea of just settling for one woman. He wants multiple to love him and worship him basically (hence why she gets rejected). Because he thinks with the “ball and chain” mentality. Once ayano confesses, it’s no longer a chase, and it’s no longer interesting. I’ve seen plenty of shitty men online think this exact same way
@@cyancat8633 A whole damn lot. The overlap in the venn diagram of the 3... yeah, it's a lot. At least between weebs and incels, harem anime should be popular because of the nonsensical sexualisation and fantasy it hands to them on a silver platter.

I downloaded the game recently, and honestly it was easy although tedious. The thing I hate the most is the controls, because I hate having to stretch my fingers to go here and there. Literally I find it so unnecessary to have this many keys. I have to agree on the saving system, and I still literally don’t know how to save properly at certain points. Luckily I didn’t make any mistakes during my gameplay. 1980s mode is what the game should’ve been honestly, without heavily relying on Info Chan and working on your own. I hadn’t gone around playing it, but it’s likely more fun and challenging. Especially with the alternate endings of being a true Yandere getting away with murder or pacifist. I do like some characters and some backstories, and it has a lot of potential. Although, with how the developer handles criticism and the pace of development, as well being a huge disgusting creep, the game is barely going anywhere. The game is quite fun in certain aspects, but extremely unfulfilling. I have been thinking of character redesigns in my free time in my head about redoing the rivals, main character, and Senpai’s design. That’s just me as an artist who absolutely hates the designs, and how goddamn bland as well uncreative they are. Great video insight about this!
As far as I know the game has been made for controllers first. When I use to play I always used the controller and never had any problems with awkawrd controls. But I agree overall. As a seasoned player of this game, I can say that for me it's always fun if you know what you're doing, but the learning curve is way too steep for new players.
I don't like YanDev at all, but there's tons of stuff you flat out ignored in this game. 1. This game has a lot of content and text at the beginning, which is all skippable. The entire tutorial can be simplified, you don't have to go through all the options. 2. You don't have to follow infochans rules. That's part of the fun- you can literally eliminate the rival in any way you want. 3. You had a low rep at 9:11, and you weren't in the Sports Club. If someone had a horrible reputation at your school for being a creep/bloody/whatever, I think it's not entirely out of the question it's a bit suspicious. 4. When sent to the principles office you have multiple chances to leave and continue the day for free, only the second or third time (depending on the thing you did) will she send you home. 5. Each route you take DOES make it harder. If you choose the reputation ruin to su***de route, students become more perceptive and won't bully the other rivals to death again... and the other routes have something similar (although not all of them.) 6. Each route has it's own cutscenes, custom content, ect. It's a sandbox game. 7. Osana's "bodyguard" makes it harder, so WORK AROUND IT. You know you have to eliminate her first, so think of ways to separate them... (like put a note in their locker or something...) They aren't there to be annoying they're there for gameplay! 8. The town serves more then just filler. There's things you can buy that actually make sense. You can get jobs, meet people, make deals, test video games, ect. There's gameplay there, you just didn't try it. I just played this game for my first time with almost no context, and I promise you it's not as convoluted as this guy makes it seem. I mean, sure, it's ass for 10 years of development, but this guy is clearly just trying to shit on the game for views without giving it a "genuine review."
This game is very unintuitive if you don't follow the exact plan that it sets out for you. I think there's a very high chance that the things you listed here weren't "ignored" by him but just not found...
@@anri_szyrykowski yeaaaah but I still appreciate all the volunteers that contributed to the game, barely any of the work is rlly the dev’s; exept the already existing shitty code.
As someone with too much knowledge about Yansims development (kid on the internet with unregulated autism L), all the things you listed that you like are things his volunteers did. Most chatacter designs are done by someone else, Alex doesn't do 2D art he gets volunteers to do it and then gets mad when they aren't to his standards, the music is all composed by someone else, and the voice acting is also entirely volunteer done and once was even better than it is now before he lost the biggest names attached to his project by being a fucking creep.
I remember when this game first blew up back in 2014, and MAN its crazy to see how different everyone and everything was about it. The thing is that you are 100% right, the premise, although potentially controversial, has so much potential to be made into an open world story oriented puzzle game, but it just fell into the wrong hands. Shame that this is the idea’s fate. Any real dev that tries to redeem it gets slammed and shut down by mr lolcow himself.
The time movement is funny to me as someone who plays sims because a fast forward button is something that could easily solve the slowness and waiting times.
Kubz Scouts made this game look so fun when I was younger, can't imagine how much time/effort that took because I look at it now and think "This looks like personal hell"
I’ve never actually thought about the word vomiting. As a previously obsessed player who didn’t get a PC till long after I had digested loads of information, all the mechanics of the game had already been seared into my mind. But you bring up a good point, that people who aren’t absolutely obsessed with ya deer simulator videos will NOT want to do allat.
The thing is that Yandere Simulator as an idea isn't inherently a bad one. A Hitman-style 'find and kill the target then get away with it' game where you play as an obsessive stalker trying to get rid of the romantic competition for your crush before they can make their move all the while have to balance that out with maintaining a facade of normalcy by going to school classes and even forming relationships with others sounds pretty good. Especially with the coupled with the gimmick that each new 'target' will have their own distinct personality, quirks, and schedules for you to learn and since all of these takes place at a confined school environment that adapts to how you accomplished your goals the week before, IE: if you kill one target by dropping something heavy on them from the roof or pushing them off the edge then a tall chainlink fence will be there next week to prevent that, is a pretty neat idea. And all this coupled with a cutesy, tongue-in-cheek anime aesthetic with some funny jabs at classic tropes of the genre to off-set the inherent dark nature of it all had the makings of a fun game, sure not game of the year or the next big indie darling or whatever but at the least an fun title worth messing about with. Especially if more of the focus that went into stupid easter eggs or developing an entirely new FUCKING game mode went into developing the school environment itself and the characters that occupy it. TLDR: The idea of Yandere simulator deserved a developer that was actually worth a damn that didn't bog it down with needless bloat that made the spaghetti code commit rope-neck. And that's not even going into all the shit that just makes Alex just generally a terrible person. Being a terrible programmer is forgivable, being a terrible person much less so.
He never had a plan. His "plan" or "vision" for the game is about as permanent as clothing in a closet. He'll throw it away for something that looks "better".
16:08 actually in one of his old videos on Yansim updates and plans he mentioned Lucius as something he’s trying to take inspiration from, you can totally compare it

Multiple events had taken place in my life while only having two rivals in this game within those years to this day.

That would've been so good because that opens up the possibility of multiple endings:
1: If you fail to stop her, Info-chan will expose Ayano and Ryoba for their crimes, so they are arrested and sentenced to death for multiple murders.
2: You can run away and go underground, although Ayano and Ryoba would be exposed, they would live the rest of their lives in another nation with fake identities.
So on and so forth.
I know this will never happen in the official game, but that's what mods are for.

its a hitman inspired game by someone who doesnt understand why hitman is so good. keyword: its freedom. you can LITERALLY do anything you want and kill anyone you want however you want with the consequences only being you get a bad score at the end.
There are a lot of creative ways to take out even Osana, you just need to learn the mechanics and memorize the palcement of students around the school
Raibaru (Osana's body guard) is one of those ideas that works better on paper than it does in practice, but you can play around her and there is also an option to de-power her when you start a game.
The biggest road block for yandere simulator isn’t the story
It’s not Alex
It’s not his spaghetti coding
It’s the feature creep
I say this as someone who watched all the development videos as a kid Alex has a HORRIBLE habit of when a thing is taking ages to code he will “take a break” which will mean adding a new feature that’s just a minigame
You didn’t even address it but around 2018? He made a video asking “guys would it be intrusive if you had to do a QuickTime event to fight the delinquents? Like in yakuza” And everyone was like “DONT FUCKING ADD IT; WE DONR NEED IT” and he went “ohhhhh I see you don’t want it but it was quick and easy to code so I did it anyways”
The whole game is like this. Below is a list of unrelated stuff you could do
- do a minigame for money, this money is useless as all it does is give you unrelated items that are also time wastes or pay a criminal in 1980s mode to kidnap your rival which…..why are you paying to skip GAME?
- all the video games
- the extra modes for all video games
- stupid Easter eggs if you dare go into the files and fuck with stuff because how dare you touch lord Alex’s precious code
- FUCKING CRAFTING- THIS IS NOT NEEDED ITS JUST COMPLICATED BULLSHIT FOR SMOKE BOMBS
- Easter egg modes which are copyright violations, Toby fox even told off yandere dev for making bad time mode, he didn’t remove it he just modified it
- the consoler (she’s only used for a elimination mode, being caught by her is STUPUD easy to get out of, just apologise and she lets you go)
- the sheer size of this school, it’s so big and most of the time it’s just to hide Easter egg items
- the whole demon knife easter eggs where you can summon a demon to possess you
- every. Club. Activity.
- placeholder rivals for main game
- dialog/secret cutscenes for npcs that aren’t important to the plot, no joke the basu sisters have a unique cutscene each day
- the biking to school game; it’s utterly pointless he says it’s to “add the potential to see your rival doing something bad outside of school”, this has never been used
- PLANNING. DLC. CHARACTERS. THIS IS NOT A JOKE
- the snooping mechanic (it litterally costs like 15 info points to learn some info on them making this mechanic useless)
- don’t ever pay for ribaru to go home, sure info can call her saying her dog got ran over but she’ll decide “nahhhh I won’t go home :)”
- the place holder tutorial (the tutorial isn’t suppose to be a huge text wall but omg why would you add it like this? This looks so bad)
- the discord lore where you can talk to an unrelated person to the story purely to get a “haha im not a murder id be crazy if I was talking to one!” Joke, this takes 5 days to see the whole thing through
- snapping mode, genuinely why?
i mean it technically IS Alex with his terible choices with the game, like when the 1980 mode came out before the base game was even finished lol
@@Strawberry_Cubes, so about whole minigames to earn the money, buying videogames and crafting (especially the smoke bomb part) mechanics. I think, Alex is just took these mechanics from Persona 5 or heck any Persona from 3 to 5. My guesses? Though, of course I can be mistaking, maybe these mechanics exist in some other games that I'm not aware of besides it and I live myself to a meme "Is that Persona reference?!", but all 3 of these coincidentally exist in these games or partly in some of them, which is also big coincidence because Alex played Persona 5 on his streams. Add that to fact that pretty much entire game is a big pile of stolen asset, I think it's safe to assume that Alex just stole these mechanics and added it because he can.

Bro, I literally rediscovered this game. I remember watching youtubers play it back when I was 10 years old. I am 20 now!
This game is a very good example of something that came out of an idea loved by many, but was executed so terribly, it made everybody who ever thought "oh this sounds pretty cool" fucking resent it.
That's why there's so many game devs that tried to create what yansim was supposed to be in spite of the original game and it's creator.
I have an idea called "Killer For Hire Simulator" where you play as an assassin who is completely broke!
if one too many things go wrong then you could be assassinated yourself, lose your house or die of health issues since you can't pay for medical items
in other words: it's real life but you can do murders because it's a game
sadly the reimagined YanSim games always somehow hit a dead end.
@@ungabunga5789Apeis was his name, although I wish an unfinished build of his fangame was leaked online
OH MY GOD YES i heard of that someone found a way to kill osana and get around Raibaru and YanDev straight up patched it
Incase your wondering how the dude put a bucket of gasoline on top of two doors and Osana walked through it and got Gas on her and by flicking a lighter you could Eliminate her early and YanDev patched this by making Raibaru able to smell Gasoline
Like someone found a way to use the game's already difficult mechanics in a smart way and instead of being rewarded you get shafted???
The first rival is SUPPOSED to be the easiest
Your DM part reminds me of a terrible DND DM that would force us to progress in one way. He basically played our characters for us. If we tried something he didn’t want he would just tell us it doesn’t work or punish our characters only to then do it his intended way.
I hated that guy!
Bro LITERALLY punished players for understanding the game mechanics

That's IT. If you don't get rid of them in the morning,
they can, and WILL ruin your run.
I never considered thinking of the other students as “tools,” good analysis!
@ShellDrakeYT Another reason to hate the game (and Alex)…
Senpai’s LITTLE sister is a rival, and she SOMEHOW is smart enough to get moved to his school.
Oooh, yep I remember that. I used to watch Markiplier play this
I mean, aren't 18 year olds and some 19 year olds still in hs?
@@alexf225 Yes but only in the last grade of it, so a majority of the students are underage
HE CHANGED THAT??? God, I'm not even suprised. I haven't followed this game in years though, to be fair. Eugh.
Surprised that was changed when that's so common in America media nowadays.
If I were to make a Yandere Sim, here is what I would do:
1) Move it to a university instead of a highschool, because creeping on and murdering school kids is gross af
2) Make plenty of *non-violent* paths to choose to deal with rivals. Maybe set them up with someone else, get them a new job that is distracting, etc
3) Make murder hard but effective if done correctly, but have serious punishments if it is all you do.

He’s a people pleaser
He also likes mooching off his patreon supporters. Easy money with no job.

Seriously. This is a disgusting feature I cannot wrap my head around someone implementing.
Games and media can have dark and mature content…
…
This isn’t dark, this is just perverse, weird, and gross to either be “””edgy””” and different, or more likely, Dev is just a creep. There is seriously never a time in which a game should be PUSHING AND MAKING A MAINSTAY FEATURE creeping on someone and taking photos of people’s genitalia. It’s just…blegh.
Eh, its whatever, not an issue
So it's killing people tbh.

Holy fuck I wasn't able to play the game like at all I wasn't able to leave the loading screen of it. This game is not at all friendly for player with low-end devices
Yeah it's really poorly optimized because of YanDev's incompetence as a Dev
LOOOL SAME installed it and i could barley get past the loading screen and had to delete it right after
Yes literally, when I was younger I tried downloading it and my computer wasn't very good at the time, it completely lagged and i just immediately deleted it
i powered through it with solid 5fps as i was younger 😢
I remember in 2014 I played like 5-10 minutes of it on my low end 2012 laptop. Lagged a big but I got in early enough to play a build that didn't destroy my device.

THAT'S SHAT I'M WONDERRRING ToT
Ya know what's real funny? The first rival used to be easy to kill if you knew the tricks which lead to speedruns but Alex didn't like that people could get creative and find fast ways so he implemented safeguards (like the first rivals bodyguard) so people couldn't speedrun it.
iirc that's also why you get caught for like. carrying basically anything around (like the bucket in this video), not just weapons. or teachers omnisciently knowing the moment you have some something instead of you killing in front of one or being visibly bloody after hiding everything.
Which is wild, because the first target being easy to clear and receptive to experimentation seems like good game design!
i remember a speedrunner found a quick and easy elimination using gasoline in a bucket on a door and a nearby candle.
alex went and specifically patched THAT speedrun elimination out because "getting away with murder shouldn't be easy!!!!!"
Ok, so basically:
Step 1: Start making a game
Step 2: Go on a bunch of wild sidequests that don't correlate to the main game at all
Step 3: Make an actually good game as a second mode on the side
Step 4: Continue the main game... With more sidequests ofc
Step5: Profit???

I'm autistic and for some reason one of my special interests is yandere simulator. Great video but I have some corrections about the game
1. You might not even need the schemes in the original game on your first playthrough
It doesn't make sense
Edit: When Ayano gets into a fight with a delinquent, people (especially Senpai) blame her first? If a shady guy carrying a weapon starts swinging at a "normal schoolgirl" like Ayano they shouldn't assume she's the threat. Since Ayano's whole thing is faking being a sweet schoolgirl then her classmates shouldn't jump to conclusions. I suggest that the students only blame her if her reputation is low or if she's visibly insane
They don't react if someone else takes a weapon, but if Ayano does it everyone loses their minds, is annoying
@@youtube-kit9450 I agree. It's so funny when they go "Oh no how dare she hold a bucket! 😠" Yandev really doesn't interact with people.

Pedodev could have easily added another way of punishing the player for letting students see them carry things that are used for murder or to get away from one, but his lazy ass thought that a girl carrying a bucket should award the same reaction as a girl carrying a knive in a very suspicious way
And when he was confronted about this, he made shit up like "oh that's just how Ayano perceives her classmates!!"
that's the thing every single character is unbelievably dramatic, including sanpai which is the reason why a lot of people genuinely do not like him, not to mention I'm just gonna go out and say this the rivals are insufferable, they were meant to be likable so it's harder for you to dispose of them by killing them, so you try to move around it and either befriend them match make them, but no every fucking rival even the ones that has not been introduced yet and I honestly don't see a future where they're gonna be introduced before I might just go into retirement, but that's besides the point, not one of them has an actual redeeming quality where you sit there and say maybe they are likable, no, the first rival is a straight fucking bully, with a (no hate to va) annoying voice, and for some reason a bodyguard, who of course happens to be so unbelievably vigilant that she can fucking smell gasoline from a mile away, and detect electricity what the fuck is she a dog?
@@ThatGalFromDominoes there are so many possibilities for this, he could have gone the route a very emotionally charged house, with an emotional abusive parents, so the brother and sister grew incredibly close, and they view themselves to be the only family each other's have, so both of them are incredibly protective of each other, and especially after being separated because of a divorce between the parents and each parent took one of the children, before they were united again, so they both care about the other's opinion, and make sure to make time for each other especially now that they're in school together, so sanpai is always around her, just reminiscing over the years they have been away from each other, and that way it restrict you into really only one way of eliminating her, which is befriending her and giving out a very good impression on her, that she becomes one of your cheerleaders, and that could actually affect the rest of the rivals mechanics, like i just googled it apparently one of the rival is a delinquent, which was supposedly one of the most difficult one, but because you have the sister as an ally, you don't have to worry too much about her, and it's gonna be like necessary for you to not dispose of the sister by killing her because it's just gonna be an immediate game over, because obviously sanpai is gonna be unbelievably distraught, he's just gonna drop out of school, but nooo! why make it logical why make it actually fun? nahhh borderline incest is the way to go, yeahh, which I'm not surprised about in the slightest, because again there are not one but two adults who are considered fucking rivals, the teacher and the nurse, as if one is not enough, it's so fucking slimy and disgusting, I honestly dropped my interest in the game since all the rivals were introduced, and that little clip video before I knew a person with an actual functional relationship with romance would not even suggest this
“Looks like a VRChat world” is crazy 😭🙏🏻 but true asf
I’ve seen plenty of shitty men online think this exact same way
@quinnzoee Damm, you have been in the game longer than me. Tell me, sensei, what's the overlap between anime, weebs, and incels?
@@cyancat8633 A whole damn lot. The overlap in the venn diagram of the 3... yeah, it's a lot. At least between weebs and incels, harem anime should be popular because of the nonsensical sexualisation and fantasy it hands to them on a silver platter.
@@auronirahman2837 funnilyenough this all dates back to the manosphere and when they scream out what about men like that and when that happens or when a mangacreates a situation like male sexual assault or worse their one of the first people to down play it or say that characters got lucky or should have been them
It’s astounding how pathetic people can become
@@nuotatorre8741 fr i had to search so much shit up in the beginning its stupidly tedious.
If you choose the reputation ruin to su***de route, students become more perceptive and won't bully the other rivals to death again... and the other routes have something similar (although not all of them.)
I’m Actually working on a mod with a new rival each day 🙈 glad I’m not the only one that saw the potential
I WAS ABOUT TO SAY I SAW A MODDER DO THAT LMFAI
Don't fret, fella. There is no need in thy mod. I would snuff out the dev and thee for the good.
*Sister Freide OST plays*
Dont do a mod, honestly just completely start anew in unreal engine or something. Its beyond saving.
@@Plushtoniumno experience in coding anything else but yansim & posemod I’m afraid 😔
My pc literally got the blue screen of death when trying to load up this game.
1980’s mode actually could have been a good experience if the game didn’t destroy my computer 😭
LUCIUS ?! Was NOT expecting that name to drop! First one was such fun, watched a play through yesrs ago as a kid!
16:42 This was the plan years ago. Yan Dev made a video saying this was his intention. I wonder what happened
He never had a plan. His "plan" or "vision" for the game is about as permanent as clothing in a closet. He'll throw it away for something that looks "better".
We'll get TES6 and GTA6 before we get a completed version.
16:08 actually in one of his old videos on Yansim updates and plans he mentioned Lucius as something he’s trying to take inspiration from, you can totally compare it
