"If Communism is a failed system, then let it fail." That is a perfect point. If Biden and co. actually believed what they say about capitalism/communism, they'd do just that. Their actions speak louder than their words.
Yeah america really shouldn’t have enforced the embargo’s that hard they should’ve just let Cuba break down or just let cuba adopt capitalism with just communism in name whilst stripping property rights when the gov wants to (like China)

Hi. I am a Cuban, living in my country. I Thank you so much for this because I usually feel so impotent and outraged when I have to deal with the huge amount of misinformation about Cuba out there. My opinion is, all that serves the purpose of justifying and perpetuating this crazy aggression on us. The cost of the blockade has been way more than economical, but also social, moral, philosophical, political; this has really damaged a society that has decided to make social justice, human integral development and dignity and equality of opportunities a central goal; which we haven't achieved yet. I would never claim my society is perfect in any way. We do have issues to solve and things to change and improve. But this is the path we've chosen and we have the right to. I think the whole world would benefit from a good old fashion Revolution.
US sanctioned you for your own good. I don’t actually get their point.
If you‘re honestly Cuba, tu deberías saber que gracias por Fidel y Raúl todavía tenemos bastante racismo en nuestra comunidad, como cuando Raul dijo en la mesa redonda que los “negros” ya se están poniendo en posiciones de “governar” y que están aprendiendo lentamente…..

As an American I've always been suspicious of everything I've been told about Cuba. It never seemed to make any sense. Every sovereign nation must be allowed to determine their own path without outside intervention. Full stop.
It's a kidnapped country
All the millions of Cubans that have left the country for the US and the world. The thousands who have escaped by rafts.. Who knows of those how many men , women and children have drowned in their quest for freedom......Doesn't that make you suspicious that things are not well there ?
@@alfredosenalle9284 And who's at fault? Couldn't it be the US deliberately screwing over Cuba?
@@nwcr_ Nope... How about a small group of now millionaires that is the communist party ? A group that staunchily holds on to power so they don't lose their good life and benefits and at the same time couldn't care less about the well being and life of the more than 11 million Cubans on the island.
This group of greedy rich people should step aside and give way to freedom and democracy so the majority of 11 million could prosper and put an end to their miserable life. The greed of a few is destroying the majority.
@@alfredosenalle9284 Most of the Cubans who left, left for 2 reasons. 1) they were capitalists who supported the USA even before Fidel so left of their own volition. 2) The blockade is crippling Cuba so badly that people are forced to look elsewhere for food, even then it's very few that leave for that reason.
Even if all these things you claim (without a source lol) were true, what right does it give the USA to interfere? The USA is the land of the free, no? So it should reflect that in its international politics by leaving other nations alone. Just like the video said, if communism in Cuba is so bad, let it fail on its own without US interference. If they think it'll fail, the cuban people will rise up like they did before and cast out their government. It is not our business on how a sovereign state conducts its own business.

@Carlos Cepeda Carles Western Europe has never been Communist
As a cuban its realy anoying seeing politicians saying they "stand with my people" so that they get a few extra votes next time theyre up for election
As i understand it, many Cuban Americans that left Cuba during the revolution are the main drive for continuing this fruitless embargo and suppression.
They lost a LOT of privately held business, infrastructure, and land, some of which are incredibly bitter about it and live in the hopes that if America ever does 'free' Cuba, that the US government will force the return of their family 'held' property.

i only have one semi close relative in USA so i dont have much personlan experience. but yea there are anti government sentiment among many cubans who either let because of the New regime or theyre kids and grand kids. Some do belive that a New government could redistribute land back to Them but often its also a result of cubans trying to integrate and become a sort of hispanic model minority, aswell as just holding a grudge
Cubans in USAs views on the government is often based on why they moved, if they or theyre parents moved because of political reasons they care alot more and are way more critical then those that move for economic reasons

@vivaldireal1741 Because talking freely on the internet in places like RUclips and others are not allowed for the Cuban people. Only those in the communist party are allowed, and even they are being watched over by others to make sure they don't write anything negative against the communist party
I saw the protest in the news, smelling fishy since the beginning.
I only heard DW covered this and it was so vague I couldn't tell the scale of the protest or the clear explanation behind it. Now the German are less biased than the American news but nobody can be truly neutral.
What are the protests about? Is it cubans protesting against the USA having trade sanctions on Cuba? Or is it cubans protesting against their government? I'm Not sure what's going on
@@raymondqiu8202 it’s a mix of Cubans protesting against the lack of syringes for vaccines as well as other shortages, Cubans supporting their government’s resilience against the US embargo and I’m assuming some US agitators
@@raymondqiu8202 It's Cuban people protesting against the goverment. They're tired of the represive goberment. For those who claim the EMBARGO is the seed of all evils, sure the embargo makes life hard, but for those in power it doesn't seem to matter. They live with all the luxuries, while the people is left to suffer. And if people protest, then they make sure to shut them up.
I saw a sign that was supposed to be in Florida shown as "Cuban"
As someone from the Caribbean, Cuba is the recommended place to go learn medicine
Not really. You can find better schools in Mexico or Colombia.
@@briannab4037 true but it is one of the primarily recommended locations
@@briannab4037 Probably not with the free education people get in Cuba.
@@RebeccaOre Most definitely yes. LOL.

I'm trying so hard to not rage :(.... Thank you for the effort. Patreon incoming
Thanks so much for your support!
All of the figures he gives in the video are wrong, of course you want to rage if what he said was true.
Check the facts, ST is just doing agitprop
This is something I didn't know about at all, not because I didn't wanna learn but because of all the brainwash that is around us and the super low amount of knowledge among my people and starting to actually see this and realising what things I don't know is just blowing my mind. Thanks for making these videos.
Just imagine, a nation that has been in a chokehold for ages yet still managed to survive, where people had to adapt and make the most out of nothing. Extremely hardened, inventive folks. Without those sanctions Cuba would probably take off like a friggin rocket. The US has been pulling back on that spring and now there's a metric fuckton of tension.
Cuba was never going to take off, with or without their sanctions, just loo how Venezuela crashed before any US intervention
@@jodashi200 I noticed too that apples are indeed not oranges.
Thank god, coverage of this that isn't imperialist propaganda.
nah, this time it's just lies and BS by a tanky.
Because whatever justification he finds for shitting on the US is worth grasping at, even when it's not related
@@namenloss730 Nice try CIA
@@AndrewManook Yeah. When someone disagrees with you, I guess they are CIA. Guess I'm CIA too then. *spooky CIA puppet noises*
@Lampy Lamp I’m pretty sure they were joking pea-brain.
Hey Second Thought listeners and friends, I can second the Blowback podcast series. I turned it on after ST recommended and it's pretty incredible, informative, and engaging. It's a deeper investigation on US state foreign misbehaviour, how domestic problems often affected international military policy, and many of the individuals that were involved to create the perception of nations like Iraq, Iran and Cuba.
16:30 Oh my God!!! I remember that story. Oh the shame of a society where a little girl has to sell lemonade to fund her surgery. It takes a special kind of masochistic Stockholm syndrome to perpetuate the US status quo.
If there's one thing I hate about this video, it's the fact that it needs to exist.
We seriously need to abandon imperialism...
Imperialists love it enough to fight tooth an nail for it. We need to be willing to fight just as hard if we want to stop them.
That moment when you realize you were allied with bad guys all along

Well. If you play the game of society, then yes. There is the good side and the bad side. Both are relative to whoever is playing the main character of the narrative. But in the long run. None of it matters. Civilization will press on into the future
Wow. Dude. I was just questioning how legit your channel was earlier! I fell for the main streams new bullshit and was thinking " so second thought is total bullshit he rides Cuba all the time but this is what's happening now"
Then you come out with this video and really opened my eyes
Great to see. Keep on learning!
I can't recommend season 2 of the Blowback podcast highly enough if your interested in a broader historical view of our centuries long meddling in cuba.
@Aslam Parvez kind of unrelated to the original comment, but you're not wrong. I really hope I can visit China myself soon.
American actions in Cuba are disgusting. It's gotten so bad, that Russia, a Capitalist nation, is sending them aid.
