I have this one, right now.its frozen!comes to this all the time! Sometimes Im on the road and I want to make a phone call, & guess what, it gets all white or just freeze and it ruins my day!
It was for the repair once, software got updated,came out perfect.. lasted about 2 months.
To add to the misfortune, fell out of my pocket about 20 inch from a marble floor and the screen has broken ... luckily did not come inside ... but at this point it does not matter because it is frozen!

that phone is not good no TV-out feature, no fm transmitter also fixed focus 8mp is like a 2 mp camera. i suggest n8 or 808 pureview
This is a warning to anyone considering this phone. Simply put it . NO. My sister and i both got this phone for the first month to 3 months it was fine but then we both started having issues where the touch screen would press parts on its own, making the phone annoying to use. Then a month after the problem arose the touch screen got so annoying the phone became inoperable. Also it gets extremely hot when calling, poor reception, and very delicate (broke one got replacement which also broke)
Phone is garbage everyone. I mean bravo Nokia, trying to jump on the smartphone bandwagon but with this model it's a horrible start. The lag, the defects, the complete overheating and not to mention the fact that mine has stopped sending texts. There's no apps, and the ones that are there are either dusty ripoffs or inactive. All this phone is good for is music, and even then the player freezes. I'm upgrading tomorrow. It's infuriating how bad this is.
X7 with 4" screen kept nhd resolution resulting in low ppi of 184 coz if they would've kept say a wvga(480*800) resolution on it then there would've been a problem regarding apps n games for x7 since they have almost all apps(for smartphones) in nokia store optimised for nhd resolution.can't find any justification for the use of fixed focus camera though.i luv x7's iconic design n i think nokia should repeat it with windows just like they reintroduced the majestic n9 in the form of lumia 800.

i meant for me. i never used a mob with swipe nor anything like that of galaxy. i love symbian for it's simplicity and get this the only backdrop of x7 is its a bit slow which does not matter. besides i seen people with galaxy and they do the same things they would do with any other. however android is always first due which all companies want its even lava has now come with an android. give others a chance man.
The best things about Nokia:
1. Build quality is second to none - i have dropped my nokia phone so many times and it barely got any dents. It works with no problem.
2. Battery life for nokia phones are among the best.
3. I don't know why you need 200k apps. The ovi apps are sufficient.
All this said, however, nokia needs to innovate to attract customers. Nokia's hardware is the best in the world. Software however needs refining to appeal new customers.
@betterbeavailable Right you are. :) My first Nokia music phone was the 5200. It still works and never failed my music experience. Now I'm using a Nokia X6, Music experience is cool too, but when it comes to refreshing the playlist it sometime fails because of 1 incompatible file in the Mass memory and i need to find and delete it to refresh the list. and sometimes it hangs or too slow, maybe because of its low processor?
Way to go Dicktor. Focusing only the bad points and leaving all the good stuff mentioned. X7 surely beats any average Android crap by a mile. Surely iPhone4 and Galaxy S have faster processors and more resolution but they also cost more. And I seriously doubt those HTC whatever cameras are any better than what's seen here. And why are you running like 10 apps in the background? I can see it from the white dots in the icons. That severely hampers performance!
Victor, It's not a fixed focus camera. Technically it's called an Extended Depth of Field camera or EDoF. Nokia interchanges the term Full Focus with EDoF, not fixed focus. EDoF uses a series of asymetrical lenses and complex algorithms to create a series of images which are combined to give an image that is completely in focus beyond 40 cm from the lens. Not only the subject is in focus, but also the background, etc. The lens technology is highly advanced, as are the algorithms.

I agree. i use opera mini on my galaxy s and it is better then android stock browser. but i like it cause its faster and for me speed and smooth is all that matters in mobile browsing, not flash. Even though you can improve symbian phones and nokia is trying to make the UI more user friendly, these phones are simply underpowered and its hard to understand why. Chinese companies can put 1 Ghz/512mb RAM in their cheap phones but Nokia cant? and nokia phones cost double as much.

As far as i'm concerned, heavy web page browsing should be done on a device called computer, something most people these days have. What good is a flash on a mobile phone if it makes the whole browsing experience frustrating and almost unbearably slow and laggy (see above video) . I cant stand anything that has to do with Apple (been a nokia user for many years and now android), but this argument that flash on a phone is some big deal is just ridiculous.
You forgot to go deeper into how little functions the social app has. So little that you'd need to pay for a better 3rd party social app. You also forgot to show that the split screen qwerty keyboard isn't standard for all apps. For example the OVI store search you're still forced into full screen.
Overall throughout the review, dispite having the same specs as the N8, my N8 still runs smoother then that damn thing.
First of all, the Menu and Settings barely count as a running application. They are always kept in system memory unless they have their PROCESSES terminated MANUALLY. The other 2 you can see are the simple widgets that pull RSS info from NatGeo and Paramount Pictures obviously. If those enough to bend the knees of the phone... wow. Connect a bluetooth headset to it and play some music. It's gonna handle like crap because of the weak CPU.
Nokia seems to be making the worst decisions. I mean, how insolent do you have to be to try and make a weak hardware platform pass in front of your audience at the price of much more sophisticated devices. Like, Android does't run well on a 600MHz processor either, so the problem Nokia never solved was to build a better hardware platform at an acceptable price. And now they are going to make this colorful diarrhea of a phone series that's going to be WinMo7... geez, wtf scandinavia!
This phone sucks. Bought it Jan 2nd (new year, new phone) and I've had nothing but trouble with this phone, it freezes all the time, taken it in for repair twice because "unsupported usb"
it doesn't like the cold, trying to use it when your fingers are cold will prevent you from pressing any of the touch-screen icons/numbers/letters.
the processor and ram memory can be enough for symbian apps, it's not fain to compare this features between phones with different OS. android phones may need to improve this again and again becouse they need to. my iPhone 3G moves faster than this X7 at some points with 400 Mhz and 128 ram, exactly becouse the iOS
This phone is SHIT! It's slow, it's laggy even with just the menu open, it freezes, it does things I never clicked and when I do want something it doesn't do it, it randomly locks/ turns off and to top it all off, the keyboard sucks. First and last time I buy a Nokia
@TheTrueEconomist Thanks for your honest opinion. I only buy nokia phones and I've bought alot, believe me, currently using the E72 and N79 great phones. I'm now between buying either the E7 or X7. Liked your honesty and I;m going to check it out this afternoon .

every thing is fine but its upset me. there is no A / V output. then i switch to N9. also upset me there is no FM RADIO. really break my heart i am nokia fan seen nokia 3210 to N95 8gb. in n95 8gb all the features are fitted. but now...
The only prob is the 680Mhz. If Symbian upgrades to a Dual-core 1 GHz or faster. This phone can beat other android phones. The phones features badass. But you won't get to enjoy it because of the slow performance from time to time.
if they put a dual core in the X7 it may have actually been tempting but this way they just blew it again. they are putting out a fine built and designed high end phone that is simply underpowered to smoothly handle common smartphone tasks. shame.
@MrSuurijohtaja Symbian is not very attractive on the first look. But, I have been using nokia for a year now and have grown to like symbian. The battery life for one is really good compared to android or apple devices.
when i had the n97 & n97 mini it drove me crazy,i HATE symbian...restarting my phone (sometimes a couple times) daily was a normal thing also....never buying another nokia till they get over the shitty symbian platform
too bad this phone has really nice features and really bad features: 8mp camera & 720p video and flash but no auto focus, amoled screen but low resolution, full featured browser but weak processor.
@stefavr6. Symbian Belle is coming also at some time. Maby even kinda soon. It is a better version of Anna. It is faster and better than symbian anna. It should be in their upcoming 1Ghz symbian phones.
@vin07mz nokia classic 2730 has a front facing camera is that a high end smartphone ? Exactly how many times would have you used your front facing or even main camera on your phone ?
@jthree2001 Nah, Nokia and Microsoft have already made the device. Microsoft is producing Windows Phone 7.5 to load exclusively to the Nokias so they get a jump in the market.
well, I have E7, and the Symbian OS is the worst OS I've ever use (lag, not responsive, bad icons, etc) .. and now come X7? with the same OS? there's no way I'm going back to Nokia, ever.
This phone is a total crap in terms of technical spec and user experience.
It's unbelievable that 'hi-end' phone released in 2011 is so laggy in screen switching and browsing... Horrible!
can anyone help me? RUclips mobile is buffering REALLY slowly on my nokia x7, when i had my ipod touch it buffered the HD video NO PROBLEM, my x7 can BARELY buffer 240p video, any help?
they say galaxy s2 is way way better. but i would like say that the price if x7 was available for rs.30000, i am damn sure the they would have made it has good has s2.
03:56 that is not some "most recent task viewing". it's multitasking and all those apps are running. it's same what you do with your pc when you press and hold ALT+TAB
I have that phone it got ran over my a riding lawn mower and the touch screen is fucked and so is the actual screen how much do u think it will cost to replace
Symbian isn't the real problem here, its the fact that there processor's aren't fast enough to deliver the lightning quick performance that other phones provide.
Why oh why nokia...crappy phone crappy performance.too bad.the phone giant has to rely from now on to wp7.symbian is officially dead.nice review by the way!!!
Fucking right. Mines done the Unsupported USB thing about three times. The touch screen NEVER worked, and when it did, the phone had a mine of its own.
i am still waiting for the duel core 1gb ram nokia. Why would this be the last with symbian? They just launched Anna so they should give "her" a chance
@07liberian for Android thats running 2.2 or older has this android market virus in it that can ruin your phone. thats why i use a windows phone :l
nokia should atleast put a single core 1ghz processor and touch to focus camera and a good resolution screen . Or they should sell this moblie for 120$

haha asphalt 5 lags on this phone, its so old game... Maps is unusable because it lags.. No auto focus, symbian that sucks... It sucks..
If Nokia can be the market leader for so long with a platform like Symbian; imagine what it'll do with WP7!! Looking forward to it! $.$
I didn't see any lag..... and u had maps, browser, app store, music player, video player etc. open while doing the review....
