I have it and it's been updated to Symbian Belle in 2012 (on the video it is on Symbian^3) and it's slow (not that it really ever was fast). You can't install apps from the Nokia Store anymore, you get redirected towards the Opera Store (where not many apps are compatible). The build quality and the AMOLED screen are still amazing though ! I love to type with the physical keyboard, it really is something you don't get anymore. I intended to have it as a secondary phone, but due to its software it just can't. Guess my E71 will have to do ;)

Avik Dey if you plan on using it I wouldn't recommend it (I keep mine for nostalgia). If you're nostalgic of Nokia and are looking for a greatly built, *smooth running* smartphone I would recommend looking at the 9series Nokia Lumia like the 925 and 930. They're cheap and still run great. Although keep in mind they are 5 years old now.

@zouryteck iPhone 4 if you want loads of apps and games. Or Android for a bit of that + tweakability.
My reason for wanting the E7 would be the form factor, the nice 4inch screen with great colour depth, 8mp camera, USB-on-the-go and the supposedly-good keyboard (I'd love to be able to play nethack or some emulators on this thing with ease).
yeh it is a great phone and i love using it... i dun knw why ppl were always found complaining abt it all the time...i did'nt got any prob in it a bit .
Notice the Nokia CBD (Clear Black Display), Nokia's brand new technology to get vibrant colors and deeper black.
I bet you can download all kinds of emulators and games for that baby.

People, now, many people don't believe in Nokia anymore... But, there is a huge upgrade coming up on all Symbian 3 devices, which will focus on UI the most. It will be completely different. So, if you are planning on buying new Symbian 3 devices, just know that Nokia is working on them 24/7. And they are doing everything to fix all the bugs and problems that the owners complain.

2019. Nowa days Android phones are just boring big screen. Nothing much. I want some keyboard.
My sister had it for like one day and thankfully with contracts you get a trial period and then you can either keep the phone or return it! Its really slow when it comes to the internet and social networking everything else seemed fine but u dont wanna have to wait like five minutes for a page to load! Dont get it! If you buy it keep the receipt because your gonna wanna give it back!
i hate how all music is only arranged as artist and albums as if you care much about that these days as an album may only have 1 or 2 good songs from it and teh rest is crap to sell the album so really this preset sorting from nokia only helps the crappy artists out there but ruins the flexibility for the consumer who cant even separate voices comedies etc from music except by creating playlists to sort out the non ordered non foldered music. Also the voice recorder is terrible on every e7.
Reviews like this are annoying. He is just flicking with menus and playing with the phone like a toy without reading anything that happens on the screen, becomes totally confused after 06:00.
This is like a person just walking forwards on a street & bumping into people because he is not looking where he is going. Please get a reviewer who is not technically illiterate and who doesn't poke at the screen like a chimpanzee without knowing what he's doing
@rg0r ur ridiculous... symbian is highly optimized so it hardly uses any processor power hence why you dont need dual core 1.2ghz chips. Androids OS demands a great deal of CPU (it hogs the cpu) hence why they need to throw in heavy duty chips in there. This is why the Symbian devices are far cheaper than say an IP4 unlocked.
When MeeGo is released it will need more cpu power hence why its expected we'll see 1.2ghz chips on the Nokia N9

@luckymad100 android i hope not keep symbian n justn update the os simply android is crampy if symbian is crappy u take android n used a slower processor like the g1 or hero or samsung moment n see the lag n u still see the lag with a 1ghz on android all nokia need to do is up the rom n ram like they did with this sexy e7 n there is no lag wat so ever nokia ftw
great review brother, i am waiting on my old school new in box in 2022 Jan. I cannot wait to step back to Nokias solid well built phone, and stop playing with my 6 in plus smart phones with slippery gripping, shattered glass, price and high cost services. I will hook this old school beauty to Lucky mobile for 26 dollars a month and use it mainly for its actual purpose lol.. calls to mu kids and grandkids and not need overtime to pay for the next gen phone 6 months later lol thanks for the review, 10 years ago lol..take care
@xJustPloug. Well Finnish pronounce 99% same stuff what they write so it's just Nokia :/ but English speaking people just can't read anything without saying something what doesn't read there. Americans etc. say Noukhia when they should say Nokia without U and H :/ old English language used to be like that they just wrote and said same things but modern English is far from that.
WTF.. i think this proto si actually older than Nokia World, because it has the engraved "E series" on the back, and the front sensors are not covered. This is just like the one jon4lakers from TechnoBuffalo had, when it was leaked. For what i'm seeing, someone gave that phone quite a beating, that aluminium casing is not that easy to scratch.
Nokia ia actually going to release both windows and android based phones in the next year or two, apparently they are releasing meego and then offering phones with either os, nokia will be shaping up soon you will all notice a difference by the end of the year, sounds kool
@rg0r well who the fuck tells you to pay for it? buy yet another android clone device. with that whopping 300mhz more that doesn't matter a bit when talking about different OS's.

I don't know why but it seems that every preview/review of S^3 handset the UI is very snappy but those video that shot by real S^3 user with some apps install in their handset the UI is laggy and jerky. Any S^3 user answer?
You've just unpacked the phone and you've already scratched this beauty on the corner! You should be withdrawn from these phone reviews! And Nokia is accented on the "o", not the "i"!
It has 3 home screens! Even the older and hated Symbian s60 5ft edition had 3 home screens in Samsung phones (Nokia didn't make Symbian s60 they just bought it few years ago)
@armandornd Noah left PhoneDog. Have you seen any videos that is narrarated by him? Look up TechnoBuffalo. Its 10 times better than PhoneDog. It reviews all sorts of stuff.
@felipwild the 5800 can hardly run Music Player and anything else smoothly.. I have one but I think the E7 (like the N8 and C7) do better in that regard..
Symbian? Seriously? I have a 5800. I know how this system has made me cry. It looks good until you change the theme and open Opera and Music Player.

High End Laggy phone..Really Disappointed with Nokia...I've been fan of Nokia for like until Android emerge..

Actually, predictive text with the traditional keyboard is very effective, more accurate and faster than using querty on touch screen and for me personally faster than physical querty keyboards. Its easy to get used to and most people just dont want to invest the energy.
