When you make "politician" a studied course....it loses its responsibility and the honour of holding that position becomes irrelevant. Democracy is nonsense yet the UK can't help such the stick of it yet.....complain all the time regardless of what "party" has control....amusing to watch a country destroy itself.....never interrupt your enemy when they are destroying themselves.
Lastly....none are more helplessly enslaved than those who falsely believe they are free.

And you wonder why your passport takes 12 weeks to process is it because the civil service is in efficient or you have a government and people who want the very people that process your passport sacked.
Tell me, in what business where you have more demand is the solution to giving better service firing half the work force?
I'll give you an example from your local coffee shop. They open earlier in the morning because a local office has more people. They start selling more coffee and making more money. So the boss walks in when the queue is out the door and sacks one of the two people working.
He tells the customer I needed to sack that lazy waitress because a lean coffee shop with less inefficient workers is more effective.

I used to have A GREAT DEAL of confidence in Jacob, but actually this is a man who will not WILL NOT!! tell it straight, because he cares too little about the travails and the dignity of the average bloke/ woman in the street. He shows almost as little awareness of what it's like to live without silver spoon-fed privilege as do JUST STOP OIL/ Extinction Rebellion.
It would be no excuse for him to dodge his conscience by saying to himself "ah but when I am P.M. I shall compensate for my cowardice by making the world a better place" because if he can't find the courage to do-and-say the right thing now, he never will. There will always be pressures to find excuses to "justify" cowardice even if he was P.M.

Build roads and have better public transport , they have been saying this for 50 years ,, they had better public transport ,, but it cost too much ? So they introduced privatisation ? @@CHRISDABAHIA I do understand, I was being facetious. Leveling up means leveling up the whole country, not bringing up small hamlets up to the level of their very rich neighbours, whilst leaving vast swathes of the country in poverty. The whole idea is a pipedream, no amount of money will bring the rest of the UK up to London and South East levels. The only way to achieve an equilibrium is to 'level down' for example by moving government offices out of London to the regions, taking advantage of cheaper rent and not having to pay London Weighting Allowances. This idea was muted about pre election but has disappeared off the radar since because the people that hold sway do not want to move from their cosy lifestyles in the capital.

There's something quintessentially old school English and genuine (as much as politicians can be) about Rees-Mogg that is appealing to many.
