- Just under 15 minutes of giving it ALL I had!
It was an honor and a privilege watching Zak disappear into the distance.
Fast start, fast finish! It's always that 3-4km in a 5k that I find the toughest.
Thanks so much to Thomas for capturing some great footage whilst rollerblading next to us. Some serious skills you've got there!
Massive thanks to the parkrun volunteers at Dulwich this week and all over the UK. You guys rock!

Onwards and Upwards, Nick:
This is some ParkRun - the first 100 were under 20 min 🤯
Dulwich parkrun is one of the quickest courses its basically completely flat, shielded from wind on all sides by trees and the corners are wide so you dont have to slow down at all. You couldnt really produce a better course for fast times only issue is for longer than 5km it would be extrememly boring and its hard to get to.
Dulwich is flat and fast. Everyone in Surrey heads there to get a quick time, so there’s usually a large contingent of club runners.
There are quite a few flatter courses, DP has about a fair bit of elevation at the 4th KM. Dulwich is home to three huge running groups; Herne Hill Harriers, Dulwich Park Runners and Dulwich Runners, which makes this a competitive course, with some very fit individuals participating
you should see high school races.
Yep all just competitive
As an American, one of the things I envy about the UK is the massive running scene. It’s just not the same over here
I’ve been looking at moving from London to Florida to study MBA and one of the first things I looked for was Park Runs in Florida. I was surprised to see they don’t have that many considering Park Runs was actually started by Americans years ago! They are everywhere in London.
Hopefully time you'll have more parkruns in the US! If not, come join us in the UK ;-)
Not sure where in America you live but it's bigger over there than in the UK...Parkrun only started up in the UK not too long ago...something I personally have never once run..you'd need to educate yourself and join a running club
parkrun was started in the UK over 17 years ago at Bushypark in South West London by Paul Sinton-Hewitt. It is now in over 21 countries
@@jacquiekirk6070 some of us don't need parkrun to run the local park
Ive never felt so slow in my life then watching these chads run a sub 15 park run.
We all have different abilities! Keep working champ!! 👊🏻
Yep, that was depressing! Sorry Nick, great work, you keep going, don't mind us!
Big shout out to the guy who came third and got a PB. Great running too. 👌
Agreed 🙌🏻 James Hancock smashed it!
Geez! I couldn't believe that Thomas was on rollerblades! That's awesome! Great run!!!!!
That week (4 Feb) had 7 PBs in the top 10 and 2 first timers. Nick was the only one who didn't and he equalled it. There's also a 91% age grade female in 12th with 16:15. That's an insane field.
Speedy week! Glad I managed to at least match my PB 😅
wow, amazing. Only the slalom you had to do would drive me crazy. massive well done!
My god I had assumed with a 14:46 you'd have won!! 3 under 15min on a parkrun is hilarious
You would see those finishing times on an olympic women's final. Crazy.
@@tomascanevaro4292 it was a speedy week. I'd much rather finish 2nd and be pushed to my limits. Zak is a beast!
103 runners ran sub 20 that day. Thats an insane parkrun!
Nice fast parkrun route 🏆
@@tomascanevaro4292 It would be amazing if a world class woman were to be invited and accepted to run in such a field, just to watch the reaction of the top local guys being left behind! I have one in mind that if I'm lucky I may meet on a trip coming soon.
Superhuman stuff. Incredible.
I love how you lapped all my family because it is so nice to see them running when I can't make it to parkrun regularly
Glad you managed to spot them 🙂 It was a great day out!
Brilliant Nick! You made that look easy!! Great video! 🙌🏻 3 x 14 min Patk runners! Loved it!! 💪🏼
Speedy week hey! Enjoyed being in a pack for a lot of it 🙌🏻
Thats amazing and inspiring. Park run is absolutely brilliant.
Congrats!! Well done!!!
Strong finish 💪 Great Run Nick
Awesome to watch.
Watched this before my sunday long run, had that song in my head for 2 hours!! 😅😂
🤣🤣 the only way you can get it out your head is by playing another song on repeat!
Just epic boom boom baby 💪👍well done nick and to everyone
Amazing footage, fantastic parkrunning, love Dulwich
Next time I'll try do it with a head cam too.
Great energy in that run, Nick. Although we've been to over 260 parkrun venues Dulwich is one that has always been on our bucket list but we've never got to yet.
It’s one of the best! You’ll love it! Massive congrats on the 260 venues!
Nice one - Dulwich is always stacked!
Isn't Parkrun just brilliant!! Amazing time, well done
Such a great concept! Best way to start a Sat morning 🙌🏻 thanks mate!
Awesome discipline and push through ❤.
Wow wow wow. Well done boet. So strong. Happy for you
Thanks boetie, looking forward to giving it another crack sometime!
I think this is the best running video I've seen what a run, also the camera work 👏 👌
Glad you enjoyed it and I'm actually looking to run Dulwich HARD again sometime soon!
That was really nice to watch; great job with the video. Was interesting to see how the pack broke up and your race tactics.
Glad you enjoyed it! I’ll do any there one at Dulwich at some point 🙌🏻 yeah packs very rarely stay together right until the end.
If ParkRun was a video game, Nick is like the computer on Level 10 difficulty.
Parkrun Pac-Man 🤣🤣 imagine. Most parkruns here in the UK are lapped courses. This Dulwich course is a 3 lap course.
Yes that's true bud. I've gone up to Battersea and did alot of weaving in the 10k/5k. Be great if they kept to right or left, but hey, I'm going to get lapped in a few years time 😁
@@AL.Don.Reviews.TrueCrime So true that'll be us soon, so can't complain 🙂 I didn't actually find it too bad at all. it is parkrun after all.
Almost Kipchoge pace on that last mile. Incredible running :).
Put it into perspective how fast that guy is!! Just ridiculous!! 🤯
IAmazing - well done. I was at Dulwich parkrun on Saturday and just for a fleeting moment I saw you run past me!
Hope you had a good run too Sarah.
Great running. Dulwich is where I set my PB many years ago. Will have to get over there for a parkrun soon.
It’s always a winner! Great course to have your PB on 🙌🏻
Amazing job- great kick in that last Km to clinch 2nd
We definitely pushed each other too our limits. 1 second in it in the end!
First 7 under 16 mins is a pretty impressive field
Wow, speedy parkrun 🙂 Great running Nick, looking good for Seville
Thank you! I was thinking about Seville mostly during this parkrun as that’s the main goal 🤞🏻
Your a machine ✌️💪💪
nice one nick!
Epic 🤯!
Interesting watching you run against two other class athletes….your recovery pick up is a lot lower than theirs meaning you’re carrying a bigger leaver through for the stride. Makes your times even more incredible….chapeau
Yup I’m a lot bigger than a lot of the other runners I compete against. That’s why I’m always nice to tuck in behind 😉
Freakin’ awesome!
Glad you enjoyed! 👊🏻 Let’s goooo!
Great looking group!👊
Always easier in a pack 👊🏻
Insane pace for average humans!!! 😢😢😮
Arguably the most cracked park run ever
Omg this looks like soo much fun, I would’ve been great running there too since I’m now a decent runner. I wish there was a park like that where I live! 😭
You’ll have to come visit sometime 🎉 it’s always a good one to do!
Oh it definitely looks great and soo much fun. Where was it at?
What a machine! Man, that's an irritating song though haha
Thanks 🙌🏻 haha let me look for a different one next time 🤣
Great tune 😎
I liked the tune 🤣🤣
What's the name and artist of that song ?
@@simonmetais3846 It's titled 'Pyramid' within the Filmora editing app
I don't know what's worse, my bones creaking or my lungs burning from watching this 😂
Thanks for the motivation; I can really feel the power of those brilliant runners! Got my first sub20 times this fall, PB now at 19m36! 1 year ago I didn't manage to get under 21 minutes.
What's the song name?
I count myself impressed. My only disappointment is Nicks' failure to collapse with exhaustion crossing the line.
However: class! Well done.
Haha perhaps I didn't push hard enough. Subconsciously I know Seville is coming. Not sure how much more I could have given to be honest.
Also very interesting to see how the faster runners cope with lapping other runners. Especially when you have to overtake a lot of them like in this race. Some people are better in running through than others.
Yup it's always going to be the case on a lapped course. Although parkrun isn't a race, so no one can really complain :-)
Nice job humans!!!!! Strengthening the DNA for generations to come!!!!
Kudos to the camera man, running alongside and filming at the same time ! 🤣
Flying Nick! Interesting to see the different running forms between yourself and the two guys in t shirts
Yeah I'm like a giant right! I guess very few people are happy with their form, I most certainty am not. But it's something I work on all the time and nice to know there's room for improvement.
@@justalilbester absolutely Nick and great to see your improvement. I find it fascinating seeing the different form between sprinters, middle distance and long distance runners even at Olympian level....so different.
Agree the others 'looked' faster by having a seemingly longer gait... But you moved the quickest!
@@petewatson7031 indeed. So many can look good 🙂
Very impressive,
Your posture is so good that when your on full gas you look like your out for a zone two run ,
Well done 💪👍
Thank you. I’ve never had the best form since I started running but it’s something I’ve worked hard on and still continue to do so 👊🏻
@@justalilbester Fairplay anyway ,
Best of luck,
Happy running.
Does anyone knows the song that is playing the whole time? Cant seem to find it
Man, if I ran it 5 minutes slower than your time, I would be very happy to run under 20 minutes. Fast running here!
Keep grinding champ!!
💯
Inspiring - sometimes running a tad faster feels better on the legs and builds them. Tougher on the heart and breathing.
Zac is a British 3000m runner. Couldn’t believe you came 2nd with that time
Yup I could tell when he pulled away in those last 2 kms haha, beast! So smooth too!
@@justalilbester Used to run with Zak's father, Jeff, another very fine athlete.
Ain’t no way wow
8:45 Eaaagllleeessss!
What’s the song called can’t find it
No blue flags at Parkrun, you just gotta slalom the slower runners... but well done, a Parkrun at World Class marathon pace, very few can do that!
Watch out for the 10x10 city challenge a road racing event like no other. The future starts now!
I know Parkrun is for everyone, but there should be some etiquette reiterated at the start....KEEP LEFT .. if not only for the faster runners lapping you, but also for other park users.
Yeah, to be fair I'm not sure I'm fully behind parkruns taking over the paths at so many parks every single Saturday. Personally I think they should be held once a month. (Probably a very unpopular opinion!).
How many parkruns do you know with this depth of quality? Dulwich is like this quite a few weeks!
What is this tune? I can’t understand a word they’re saying, so I can’t look it up!!
This has to be one of the fastest parkruns with the most depth!
The soundtrack is called Pyramid. It’s within the Filmora editing app.
Incredible run and all that but he didn't once shout "Thank You Marshall!!"
This parkrun is the parkrun heroes worst nightmare. So many dudes at 3 min a kilo
I win my local park run pretty much every week here in America by running around 20-21 min 5k 😭
Cant believe i cant find it anywhere in the comments, but what is this song? its awesome!
It's called 'Pyramid', within the Filmora editing app
Qual o nome da música?
Why don’t you and Zac try Lloyd, a couple of miles south of Dulwich? Difference being that it’s a cut down version of one of the Surrey XC Championship courses; this week only 2 men finished sub-20 minutes and only 6 women finished sub-30 minutes - so don’t forget your spikes or studs!
Wow last parkrun at Dulwich had 689 participants 🤯
Wow that was epic! Great video. What was the track playing? Really energising but Shazam doesnt recognise it.
Glad you enjoyed it. The song if called Pyramid and I think you can only get it within the Filmora editing app
Hey nick, I am racing a half on sunday. What would you think about doing the rest of the week? done a speed sesh on monday 1 mile 10 x 400
So I would do one more smaller tempo session on Thursday just to keep the race day flow. Nothing too hard or long. Perhaps 20 minutes worth of volume. The rest of the week either east or rest. Good luck 👊🏻
@@justalilbester thanks nick. Alsp in middle of a mara block lol You will get them 9 seconds!!
With the amount of weaving required that was actually quite a stressful watch.
Haha tell me about it. You really have to concentrate whilst weaving. People hear you coming and sometimes go a different way to what you think they would. All good fun and vibes in the end though.
I had a lady complain as I lapped her that I didn’t announce I was coming through. Kind of get it but impossible to do that with every person you pass when running at full tilt!
@@heeby123 Yeah I think it's all about mutual understanding. At the end of the day, you might bump into people by accident but it's everyone's roads and most runners are just trying their best.
@@justalilbester thanks for your responses Nick! I didn’t even bump the lady I took a very wide berth! Some people are just funny about these things I guess. I’ll sub and find you on Strava and follow your journey/progress. All the best!
Great video but had to mute the music. Looking very smooth Nick.
Yeah I realised after editing it. Next time I may just completely take out the soundtrack. Glad you enjoyed it though 👊🏻
Thoughts on the Takumi vs the Pro 3 for 5k?
Oooof tough choice. Probably Pro 3 for me. When I put them on it means BUSINESS TIME!
Imagine if you started in front and didn’t have to avoid all the other runners. Great run!
Thanks 🙂That'll come in an official 5k race sat some point.
Hey love the vid Bro, do you have a weekly schedule for training for a fast 5k?
This blog post I wrote a whole back could help you. If you’d like coaching, get in touch and I’ll send you further details 👊🏻 all the best.
www.justalilbester.com/post/bester-s-top-tips-to-improve-your-5k-and-10k-time
I run about 17 flat for parkrun, and I wouldn't even be in the top 10 🤯🤯🤯
The thing about running you think you are fast until some one puts you in your place
5k in adios pro 3?! I thought they are only for half marathon to full marathon! (crazy fast 5k!)
Such a good shoe that 🔥🔥🔥
I wish i was this fast, i can't even hit 2:50 min/km pace all out sprinting for 100m lol.
Current 5k pb is 24:46 and aiming for 22:30 (4:30 min/km pace)
Keep grinding!! You never know 💪🏻

How long have you been running for Nick? Great video
Cheers! 👊🏻 9 and a half years now. Grinding away every day.
I hate running but love doing it because it hate it 😂
14:30fitness under crowd road
The music really sucked but I gritted my teeth and hung in there
can I have the name of this song please? So catchy! Perfectly fit and motivating for a time trial 5K run. I've tried shazam but no result haha.
So it's called 'Pyramid' within the Filmora editing app
Great run with all the traffic too! (But yeah, terrible music)
Must be hard rollerblading while filming, while dodging people
That’s what I thought too. Thomas has got some serious skills!!
casually overtake the entire field lol.
Gotta pick your gap and go for it!!
@@justalilbester class mate
Good going. Why do runners in London Parks, being lapped, spread right across the pathway.
I think a lot of them get a bit of a fright, then try move out the way last minute. Can’t blame them though, just trying to help. It’s all about anticipation 😉
I live in the nz. My parkrun pb is 18:58
Next time, drop the music please! Good race tho!
In my weekly vlog I'm posting later, I have this video in the second half of it. Without music, so you can hear the raw running footage and how hard we're breathing towards the end.
Imagine running sub 15m 5km park run and coming 3rd 😂
Imagine running a park run in 16:12 and not making the top 10!!
