Onwards and Upwards, Nick
Incredible! I'm an event director for Jamaica Pond parkrun in the US and every time I see one of these videos I'm blown away not only by your speed, but also my how many people show up to parkrun in the UK!
Great to hear. This parkrun in specific is very competitive. The quick course attracts lot of faster runners. Glad you enjoyed it and hopefully I’ll do your parkrun one day 🇺🇸
Its awesome! In Brighton there are 5 parkruns collectively seeing 1500 runners, from a population of 300,000. That's half a percent of the population doing a 5km race 😳🙌
I must try Jamaica pond park run I live in Weymouth
@@ritaotoole197we'd love to have you!
@@FabianEason it's never a race :)
One of the things I love about running is that it doesn't matter what speed you run at, you experience almost exactly the same thoughts all the way round just in a different race position :)
Very true! As evident in the video 👊🏻 all running the same route, same distance!
Was my pleasure nick 🫡 great running geezer
The beast himself 🫡 let’s line it up again early in the new year 🚀
@@justalilbester of course just let me know when
I’m always game 🤟🏻
They going so fast that I'm happy to just be on an e-bike filming them.
Both lads looked very relaxed despite racing it out
What a great shoot by the camera guy 🙌🏼. Well done, 14:46 is super fast 🔥
Brilliant video, i'm always inspired by fast people like you, did my first parkrun in 2004 when it was called the bushypark tt, most saturdays it was a few dozen people, so pleased it is now a world wide phenomenon and so inclusive, but still so awe inspiring when you fast people glide by. Keep up the great work.
Amazingly done, Nick! Keep smashing it!
I love these videos. So motivating! Thank you 💕✨
That was incredible. Well done. Great video too. Thanks for talking us through what was going on in your head.
I love that Parkrun can be lots of different things to different people and on different types of days. There's a place for all ages and all abilities.
Really enjoyed your commentary... One of the many great things about Parkrun is seeing runners like you amongst everyone else... All pushing outselves and enjoying the challenge ❤
Park run is a wonderful phenomenon…changes people’s lives. Just remember Nick, it’s not a race 🤣🇿🇦🙌
Another great watch 👍🏻
Great run! Incredible camera work from the man in the blades too!
Awesome video, the filming, the commentary and the running of course! 😮
Man watching this gets me hyped up.
Great video , super fast 💨 thanks for sharing with us Nick
Whoa that was an exciting run! Superb effort from the guy on the roller blades too...
Great video thanks for the comments and the epic video skills from the roller-bladder.
I immediately recognized the start. I can vouch for this course being fast, my PB is here in Dulwich ❤
Awesome. I love your Parkruns. Diamond Geezer.
Really enjoyed that a great insight into the balance of mind and body whilst running competitively, good job 👌👍
Park Runs are great 👍.. done my first and preparing for several more this year..
That was class Nick, love to see you push the limits. I'm same as you, can't be half assing it, wanna get faster all the time, beat everyone haha
Wow!!! Absolutely smoked it! I'm very close to your height and weight but I'm 52!! Love ParkRun and especially these videos. My best is 21:19 so the goal is to break 21:00 and see what happens from there. Sub 15:00 is otherworldly.😅
Nice I am 49 my pb is 21:25 trying to go Sub 20 one day 😅
Brilliant I love the parkrun
Absolutely brilliant!!!.... I never watch anyone's replays except yours their soooo good and I was actual shouting at the other runners too get out yr way.. 😂😂Boooooommmsshhaaakkaalllakkka!!!...🏃🏼🏃🏼🏃🏼🏃🏼x
🤣🤣 you took the race (Parkrun) ;) more seriously than I did!! Love it! x
Love the chat about what you were going through Nick 👍
Your original video of this parkrun is inspirational mate, i have watched it dozens of times 🙌.
I cracked my parkrun PB last week (23:00) at Paradise Point on the Gold Coast, Queensland Australia, hope you get over here one day 🏃♂️🤘
Siiiiick??!! Well done champ 💥 Sub 23 next!!
Nick, you’re a legend! Loved the video and almost felt like I was running along with you! 😂. I am a 26min parkrun guy, so 😂…. Love parkrun, it’s always there on a Saturday morning (bar any viral outbreaks 😮) whether you want to race, jog, walk, volunteer etc. Have been involved since 2004 ❤. Keep the content coming and yes, I used to wear a vest in my youth, certainly made me run fast to get it over with! Beast Mode! 😅
Glad you could relate to champ! Keep showing up and go bank that sub 25! You've got this!
Gloves and vest for racing in the cold - love that feeling
Very cool these kind of videos. Although you know Seddon is an Olympic runner, it still must sting a little seeing him running away and knowing there's nothing you can do about it :) That being said, the gap was only 8sec. Well done man!!
Na I knew deep down inside he would pull away at some stage. It bought out the best in me. So I’m happy with the way it went!
Awesome park run wow what a fast time, Nick you are super lucky to have Zak there to chase & push you to your best, gold medal to the guy on the roller skates, I would like to see you run a fast park run out & back, not laps to many people in the way is ridiculous haha excellent video 👍🏼🌲🥳🏃🏽♂️👣😀
Im in Ottawa Canada and last Park run was -2.2C ,ran in 1 long sleave light layer. If its raining and between 0-10C, 2 light layers but must roll up sleaves and zip down neck.
And then you have kiptum doing this even quicker in the 30-35k segment. Just crazy
Yeah I’m working my butt off to try 1 lap of Battersea (2.8kms) at his marathon pace 2:50 per km 🤯🤯🤯 wild!!
yea but kiptum is probably a 12.30 5k runner andy mikhail
@@marty232that’s 10 seconds under the world record. Most definitely not, probably low 13s
RIP😢
Great Video Nick. Inspires me to leave nothing on the course when I next go for a PB. 👍
Fantastic run. Next time you are in Cambridge, why not give Story's field parkrun a go. Corse record is currently 14:34 by a Graham Rush, who also holds the course record at Milton Country park run at 14:48.
Small world, I'm from Ely! :)
The video of this parkrun that you posted earlier this year was absolutely epic! It was the first of your videos I watched and I thought you we're James Hancock for most of the run! Very interesting to hear your thoughts on how the run unfolded. Need some inspiration at the moment as unfortunately my MS has decided to play up. Still hoping to do the parkrun this Saturday, and possibly a bit of filming too, but it's going to be tough!
🤣🤣 thinking about it, I can see why you’d get confused. It’s not very clear.
Hope you smashed it mate!!
Fantastic running . I either run or volunteer at parkrun every week, mind 7 degrees is a warm day up here in Newcastle😂. Well done on a fantastic time 👍🏻
Great video. I love Parkrun, and like you, Adidas Pro 3's are my go to for most distances :)
Love this 🤗 I’m not a runner but my little man at 6 ran 20.37 and at 7 ran 20.23 on a slow course in Taunton, he would love this course 😎 this is super quick 🏃♂️
This is crazy speed for parkrun:)
Can’t believe the camera man can go this fast on roller blades while filming 😮
Skillllz 🔥
Incredibly well done. Great action video and very fast pace.
Should have my 50 t-shirt before the end of the year. Love parkrun. Hopefully get a sub 20 soon too. 🙏
Great run , Nick... Thank you for sharing your thoughts through the race. It is very insightful to hear what goes the the mind of an elite runner.
High cadence is a tough nut to crack. Last marathon I was 197spm, which is obviously not efficient. Trying various drills, stretching, yoga, weights, treadmill CAD focus...but it's a struggle to naturally lengthen the stride so the cadence comes down to a more manageable number. It's so odd, that most people seem to have the opposite problem and fight to try and increase their cadence.
Great run Nick! Nice confidence booster.
Backwards running can help increase stride length before workouts (long form kick-backs). E.g., ruclips.net/video/Tvfw06G3ywA/видео.html
That and leg swings (forward / back, bent-knee and straight-leg variations)
Very inspiring! I’m a 54yo Masters runner, former middle distancer, now training for road races (5k/10k).
Love your videos and inspiring me for a marathon attempt in Seville next February. Love parkrun and volunteer most Saturdays at Chester and squeeze in a bit f tourism when I'm away. Have you hear anything about Battersea parkrun, they had a consultation but I've heard nothing since. Thought you might have an ear to the ground.
I know some of the central London parks have a capacity limit for organised runs, which parkrun is unable to abide by, and as such they can't host a parkrun
Nick, I am short AND have a short stride... I always look like a one-speed dachshund haha very well done! I mean my 5k PB is more than twice that time 🤣😭
Have you seen how fast a dachshund can run??!! 😳 🔥 just saying!! 🤣
Love this. Your passion really comes across in your race commentary.
Otima corrida 🤛👏🏃♂️
Incredible comedy - this is exactly what all runners go through , regardless of pace when we are on max effort the demons arrive 😊
Don’t forget Nick, it’s a run not a race!
Imagine getting chased by an Olympian in a parkrun😂😂
Haha that’s it 😉 never a race!
Great run but not the most competitive Parkrun “ever”. That will go to Sandgate Parkrun speed week held in June every year. 12 people under 15:00, 78 under 17:00 and 233 under 20 minutes.
Worth noting that the winner here, Zak Seddon, is a sub 4 minute miler. The standard at Dulwich is high!
Hi Nick how do you plan to increase your stride length ?
Drills drills drills! And strength work 💪🏻🙌🏻
Started park running this year and my aim is to break 30 minutes my fastest is 30.45 any tips on getting to my goal?
That purple guy running form is good
I'm 6.1 too, but my legs are not as long 😔
I’m curious why you would want to decrease your cadence to get faster. I would think that you would want to maintain that cadence while lengthening your stride at the same time.
Yeah very true but there is a sweet spot for then it comes to cadence
You're 186cm at 77kg, Nick, that's cool. I'm similar height but a little heavier. Anyway, my question is: do you think you'd be much faster if you were much lighter. Say 70kg? Or would it take from your performance. Thanks man! Great content as always😊
Na I’m not sure! Always loved by the theory, live hard, fuel hard, run hard! It’s a big part of how I’ve been able to remain injury free.
Wow as fast as you were still you came second
This is insane. My best 5k was 24 min 😂
To think this isn't even marathon world record pace
Puts it into perspective hey! Just shows you how the world’s best are ‘worlds’ apart!
@@justalilbester sadly quite literally in Kiptum's case 😕 All that aside though, that's a cracking 5k you've got in you - I've had a look at a few of your videos and it's quite refreshing to see someone else's live struggles the way I experience my own, keep at it 👍
I love athletics and park runs but I think if you want to race like this, do it at the club meetings. Park runs are for normal people with personal goals. This could put people off going. They would have done the same time on the same route on Sunday!!
Imagine running 16.12 and not even making the top 10...
The hardest part must have been weaving your way in between the lapped participants who no doubt were not running in a straight line. Very difficult to maintain your speed while you did this.
By running on the inside and off the tarmac any competitor is 'cutting corners'
As per the parkrun page -
"The course is 5000m (5k) long. This has been accurately measured by us with a professional measuring wheel. The course is in Dulwich Park and run entirely on tarmac."
The organisers should reiterate over and over and over again at the run briefing for the runners to keep left!!.... not only out of respect and courtesy for the other runners (especially as it's a lap course) but for other park users...... they were kerb to kerb it's just dangerous (especially with the number of fast runners) and disrespectful.
Brilliant race, how on earth did you dodge all those people 😮
7 Celsius is definitely not something I would consider cold. 5” inseam shorts and my parkrun sleeveless shirt is all I would have for that temp. 5-10 degrees is perfect! That said, our winter Parkruns here are often colder than -20…. So there’s that!
When was this parkrun?
Oh the 14:46
Feb this year!
Do you plan do go here this Saturday?
@@Gentlysixnot this Saturday, but sometime soon!
Bliksem
Fantastic! John 3:16
living in thailand for 4 years of my life made me realize how cold weather we took for granted everyday i run i pray for cold weather. always inhaling smoke, cigarette wastes and humidity and heat. dont take it for granted 🚬🚬🥵🥵🥵🚗🚗🚓
Lekker boet
I love parkruns. I know some people get very upset if it is treated as a race, but when you're towards the front around others you know are of a similar ability you'd have to have a heart of stone not to feel like it is. As long as you leave some space and don't take risks when lapping other parkrunners it's all good.
1st view
Boom Shakalaka! Speedy!!
pArK rUn Is NoT a RaCe
Park run is not a race
Beautiful effort! But go the All Blacks ;)
Zak's stride is just mesmerizing to watch. I love the cold, vest and arm sleeves all year round for me
