Red sea (Baby Al Mandan) is important for global shipping because:
    A. Main trade route between east Asia and Europe. They do a lot of trade, 30 percent of it goes thru here
    B. Most oil - Saudi, Iraq, Iran. Sent to the EU. They pass thru here. Ever since , Russian invade. They rely on this trade more. Qatar even uses it for liquified natural gas, - france, Italy Netherlands signed multiple long year decades to replace Russian foothold. If LNG die, so does EU
After Israel invaded Gaza, Houthi then started war in those red sea site, and ruin oil (btw Houthi hate the government and Saudi), after control Sana'A. Their connection with Iran means they're gonna shut on Israel more cause they hate them (i.e firing missiles).
Most of the ships being attacked are French, Norwegian and Chinese ships though. So that's crazy, but multiple shipping companies are not going thru there anymore, they're going thru Africa.
This increases their profits, but this is bad for global economy - Egypt less people going thru Suez Canal. Which means they're losing money.
Why are the Houthis doing this??
    1. They're doing this to improve domestic image - Houthis are in shambles, salaries are not given well. They do this they cast them selves as protector of not just Yemen but Arab people. Yemeni gov reluctant - people don't like
    2. Want to increase escalation. Forcing western navies to get involved, Iran proxies despite being quiet (I.e. not knowing about October 7th attacks). Or maybe they're doing this because now it's the best time to strike
    What happens next?
US is trying to escort ships now!
Even if Houthis don't attack US navythat are escorting them, if the US cannot convince commercial tankers to continue, it may hurt their economy.

You need to consult regional experts or do some more in-depth reading and reach beyond the headlines. Per Ansarullah (the Houthis), they are doing this to force the world to stop the conflict in Gaza, and are exacting a cost on the entire world so long as it continues.
They are not attacking non-Israeli targets by mistake, they are an experienced, capable, and battle-hardened militia that outfought the Saudis/Emiratis and their proxies. They have hit other targets so as to force shipping companies to divert or pay for expensive war insurance, and by keeping the blockade rhetorically limited they are trying to avoid a fuller escalation than an explicit closure of the straits would be.
Iran has nothing directly to do with this, it is a mistake to think that Ansarullah are anything but acting on their own agency. They are solidifying their support domestically within Yemen, because nothing is more popular than standing up to both Israel and the US and winning, and they are shaming the other Arab governments for their inability to do anything to stop the slaughter in Gaza.
Finally, they know that the US has no military solution, they have already defeated the Saudis and Emiratis, and they are an experienced force that can survive years of air strikes. Plus, to patrol the straits the US and western navies have put their own assets at easy reach, so if the US tries to escalate then expect missile swarms on western warships. And if they really want to escalate things, Ansarullah has the ability to knock out both Saudi and Emirati oil/gas production, which obviously would send the global economy into a depression.

SAUDI ARABIA has fought the Houthis for more than 5 years they're now engaged in peace talks with them and Iran since they realised the US won't help. Why on earth would they reignite that feud and make themselves sitting ducks for missiles.
QATARS entire foreign policy rests on being the diplomatic party they'd lose ALL credibility by joining a military coalition against the Houthis actions which haven't killed anyone but yet not joining or forming one to ensure restraint by Israel who's killed tens of thousands.
EGYPT however is a different story outside of applying pressure on Israel and undermining US global naval security guarantees... it is Egypt which is the target of the Houthis. Egypt relies on the suez canal for income any impediment to that is catastrophic for its already fragile economy. They're being put between a rock and a hard place for their muted position on the atrocities in Gaza. They cannot afford to be vocal about Israelis actions let alone be bellicose because of their vulnerability to US economic pressure so now the Houthis have ingeniously learnt from the US and found a way to financially hurt Egypt. Remember the Egyptian public is in full support of Palestine but the military dictator is fully aware what percentage of their military budget comes from the US. What the Houthis have done is ensure that Sisi cannot be idle he'll want business back to usual but staying in power is more important. Deciding to join a military coalition against the Houthis when he won't even cut diplomatic ties with Israel is non starter. That would be to much for the 100 million Egyptians watching what's happening in Gaza to accept.

The Houthis didn't attack the Saudis rather the Saudis attacked them after they took over the most of Yemen from Hadi regime who Saudi then supported while the Saudis had been wanting to define the Yemen-Saudi border after the discovery of oil in the area.

Why was the idea of Houthis intent to damage Israeli economy not examined in this video? Didn’t talk about the current and possible effect on Israel’s economy, and you almost completely dismissed the idea that this could be their intent despite it being their stated intent (they could be lying but examining both thoroughly is important).

America loving war is completely isolated: UN vote for a Hamas-Israel ceasefire on December 12: a total of 153 countries supported the ceasefire, 10 countries (US, Israel, Austria, others) opposed the ceasefire, and 23 countries (including the UK) abstained. The very funny thing is that Ukraine opposed the United States and supported the ceasefire. For another example, the result of the UN vote on November 2 demanding an end to the economic, commercial and financial embargo imposed by the United States on Cuba was 187 in favor, 2 against (US and Israel), and 1 abstention (Ukraine).

@@praetoriancorps It's why somalia was split into French somaliland, British somaliland and Italian Somaliland. It's why the French denied to give it independence in the 60s despite Britain and Italy doing so and the UN telling them. It's why the french assassinated Mahmoud Harbi who was the leader of the FLCS a liberation army that was supported by.... You guessed it the leader of Yemen.
Yemen itself was engaged in a war a against its colonial overlord Britain... That's why they support the Dervishes who were an army of Somalis at war with Britain in British somaliland and against Italy in Italian Somaliland.
So the Port of Aden in Yemen, the ports of berbera and Hargeisa were controlled by the brits. The ports of Aswan and Massawa in Eritrea were controlled by the Italians. The port of Djibouti was controlled by the french.
😂 Conflict is just a smokescreen to usurp and subjugate. The houthi in Yemen and the Eritrean are not playing that game anymore.
