As goofy as he is, being literally the only one in the clan to quickly and consistantly recognize link through his disguse is kind of cool
Don't call my master goofy.
I mean, let’s not forget that he IS still the leader of the yiga and posses powerful magic, that Link mainly just gets through knowing the right people, who then give it to him.

Kohga is a total goofball, but to his credit:
1. He now keeps the Yiga operating out of arguably the most dangerous portion of Hyrule.
2. His entire clan survived the Calamity under his singular leadership. (RIP Sooga)
3. He's competent enough to have reprogrammed and reconstructed a Zonai mech.
4. He recognizes Link through a full-body Yiga disguise.
full body minus the dead-giveaway hair.
Ehh, blonde, while not particularly common isn’t exactly rare and the Yiga Clan are willing to take applicants of any race so long as they’re skilled and are willing to wear the drip. What is more damning is the fact that you can pull up to the Yiga Clan Hideout with the Master Sword, without any sort of explanation as to why you have it. This mystical, holy blade that is supposed to be destroyed, was last seen with Link, and could very well be the ONLY thing that can hurt their true master above Kohga…and they just let it slide that you have it on your person.
He is also charismatic as all hell for the yiga to follow him so completely and devotedly, too.
@@jeremyrossi2716 To be fair, it likely would not be that hard to have a `replica` of the sword, AKA how breath of the wild had one of those fake ones lying around. Especially with the whole weapon decaying thing going around, in actual `theory`, you could have someone selling phony weapons to profit off such a situation, especially when its implied to have been a rather sizable amount of time has passed since Link and Zelda went to check out a hole only for one to be `missing` and the other just shows up out of the blue much later on.
Certainly makes me wonder though if anyone found the fake master sword again in tears of the kingdom.

He reminds me alot of zant in that way so i think he is one of two characters that can be described that way

It was after his plans were ruined and basically his entire existence was invalidated by Ganon that Zant just sort of lost it. Kogha on the other hand is consistently both goofy and dangerous at the same time
I got the biggest smile on my face after i saw him return. His boss fights are by no means hard but i cant help but jam to his theme
They were also the most fun fights, you got that boppin music, the fact you fight a dude on machines, and that he's just fun
the one with the fan plane is heard if you forgot to bring arrows
Does anyone know where KOHGA will show up after finishing the depths mission? He didn’t just disappear right, I went right back to the Yiga clan hideout to find him but he wasn’t there

this isn’t, it is in the Gerudo mountains, but he has since kept bases under the entire Hyrule and scouts above.

The Yiga Clan is pretty remarkable as they are the only group that actually have some major progress in Zonai researching, it would be awesome if they actually give up being terrorists like in Age of Calamity.
It'd be cool if by botw 3 they realize their insane potential and start being more pacific around other people and tribes, but still decide to attack you under the pretext of
"fuck you link, we still hate you for beating master kohga"
That actually makes sense too considering the origins of the Yiga are from Shieka that were angry about how their technology wasn't accepted by the people of Hyrule.

I think he's actually teleporting something already made to him?
Probably, it took time to build before but now he can just teleport it, if it breaks he needs to spend time making it again
You can see in the hidout that the yiga actually spend lots of time building machines however kohga just teleports them real fast

After i played age of calamity where they fleshed out Kohga's personality more, i was so worried he might not show up in totk
I was so happy to see him again hes grown on me a lot since i first saw him in botw
I was hoping he would talk again. I liked his voice in Age of Calamity.

Cause while Kohga *is* an antagonist, he's leagues less serious than Ganon, so that kind of voice really works for him
I think the Kohga in Botw/Totk are a different Kohga from AoC, given the change in voice actors. It makes sense that Kohga would be a title passed down between leaders.
@@LoinkLoink i'm gonna go on a probably not basis. both Kohgas are similar in many ways, and look 1:1 exactly alike. Not to mention, the sheikah race can live a *very* long time unlike hylians, and we know Kohga is also very resilient of a person considering he survived his trip into the depths via a giant metal ball crushing him down into it...
@@koopliss Well, first off, when Sheikah grow old, they tend to shrink with age, which doesn't happen with Kohga, which heavily points towards him not being the same person as the Kohga in AoC. Secondly, Sheikah are still hylians, as Totk finally confirms through its character glossary. If anything, Sheikah and Yiga are the religions that hylians devote themselves to. Plus, we have seen hylians able to live over a hundred years. Take for example Niko, who starts out as fairly young in Wind Waker and winds up a very old man in Spirit Tracks. It's not often, but it is possible just like with real-world humans.
Kohga may look silly, but he's smart who's under the mask.

@@GG-lk4xf He's probably not over 100 years old. Master Kohga isn't a person's name - it's a title. So the leader before him was also called Master Kohga. The Kohga in AoC and the Kohga in BotW/TotK were probably different people who both had a very similar personality

The Yiga Clan is one of my favourite evil teams. Their outfits, weapons and behaviour are all so unique and cool. Them looking so intimidating while having such a goofy boss, and the hilarious obsession with bananas makes them so endearing that I actually root for them to win sometimes. I wanna just hang out with Kohga as pals and explore Hyrule work him by my side.

At the end of his quest chain it's implied he died from his ultimate weapon

I feel so bad for Kohga. First, we cast him into a pit for years, then we destroy his clan, then we ruin all of his work, then we ruin more of his work.
We’re kinda just constantly taking everything away from this poor guy. I feel really bad.
Point to him though for having the determination to keep pushing forward.

The lack of banana smell on Link is what gave him away, a true Yiga would have eaten enough bananas to be overflowing with the smell of bananas
Either that, or link smelled TOO strongly of banana’s, as link is known to chow down and was able to access the Yiga supplies
wow... with the Yiga outfit, you can basically trick any Yiga member out there, with them disguised or not... But Kohga can always tell who's under the mask, and thus is not fooled. how the heck?
The stupid hair. Every yiga member has black hair, while link's hair stays the same gold, which a member will comment on in the hideout.
It also helps that Kohga is both a leader caring about his followers and one who carries enough of a grudge to remember his enemy perfectly. Basically his thought process is "Wait a minute, no one of my followers is posing like that. Wait, it is Links posture!"
Dude may behave oafishly, but he’s not only durable enough to survive a plunge into the Depths beneath a giant spikeball, but he’s smart enough to master Zonai technology without the fancy Rauru’s Arm powers, and basically take over the Depths.
@@CodesTheOtaku Taking over is a bit of a stretch. Multiple Yiga manuals mention the importance of location and fortifications cause of the monsters. Co-existing would be a better term in my opinion.
When I fell into the depths and helped out these travelers and then THIS DUDE showed up, I was popping off so hard. Kohga's awesome

To be fair, he also says "you back there, take over for a while" if you're not in the yiga suit. The only chnges to dialogue are the references to "that mask" and "looking like that" - otherwise in all instances he's just as surprised when you're not in the armour, if I'm recalling correctly.
@@niripora Yeah, his initial "you back there, take over for a while" is definitely him just not paying attention in that immediate moment. The second he actually starts paying attention is when he connects the dots, presumably.
Note Kohga said that without looking at who he was talking to.

did you know that when you interact with the yiga clan door without the yiga clan set, you have to fight the yiga clan.
but if you die, the yiga clan BREAKS THE 4TH WALL and somehow finds out you invaded the hideout even though respawning reverses time.

If he weren't bent on destroying Link and Zelda, aside from his general clumsiness, he's the most competent leader in all of Hyrule, and really good with engineering and logistics. He also apparently inspires people to follow him. Were his goals benign instead of malevolent, Hyrule could use him.

I love that i stumbled apon him completely on accident. I was doing the Poe vendor quest on the great plateau and GOD I loved his questline.
That's the same way I found him. I knew the two Researchers were suspicious, slipping up and almost saying Yiga in their dialogue, and then "oh hey, new ability... and the top banana".
He's so much creepier than in BoTW, he was just a goofball then, now he's gone full-on cult leader

I always wonderd, how did he survive? And i don’t mean the fall in the end of his boss fight, but the 100 years? He was there during the calamity. How did he live over 100 years?
Remember that the yiga clan is made up of sheikah who betrayed them, so like monk maz koshia, they live for a while
@@Stormimi it does seem that all races (or most if them at least) in Hyrule can live for quite a while.
@@Stormimi i was a bit torn about that. Cause the monks seemd different from the regular sheika, Purah and Impha is the only one alive still. But one has used technology, the other did age. Kooga was never really explained why tho. I guess he simply has the powers like the monks

Im not sure age of calmity is canon? but even if it is he probably just has that long life like most sheikah, I mean the first sheikah (impa) lived for thousands of years.
