He was technically half right. Lucasarts was developing their own Battlefront 3 in house that was canned due to the Disney acquisition. But he was talking about the Free Radical version, so it's still wrong.
I would have put the "Battle of Yavin" and "Battle of Endor" games on the list. Created by Bruno R. Marcos, they're space flight action games similar to the Rogue Squadron series. Unlike many of the entries in this video, they are complete, playable experiences from start to finish. They also spawned some mods, including a Star Trek themed conversion set during the Dominion War. The one major problem is that the creator's website went down years ago, meaning you have to sift through potentially sketchy links to obtain it.
The good news, we can still download it from the web.archive.org, his website was www.bruneras.com, it is mentioned here www.rockpapershotgun.com/2010/11/23/its-a-wrap-battle-for-endor/ . On the webarchive, the last snapshot from i was able to download the games is the 2012.04.18. After that his website changed and the games was not archived anymore. In the last working snapshot (2018.01.01) he mentioned an upgraded versions of his games. The upgraded versions are also not archived, but the they are still up on the net, just delete everything from the link before the mediafire.com. Yes, mediafire.com is kinda sketchy but it is a link from the archived page of the original creator and as far i see the downloaded file just redefine the 3D models.

For me, I'd have to argue that my current favourite genre is that of the "oldschool" shooter. Both the classics like the Build Engine "Holy Trinity" (Duke3D, OG Shadow Warrior, Monolith's Blood), and "newschool oldschool" titles like what New Blood has been offering (DUSK, Amid Evil, etc). You're doing a lot of exploration and secret-hunting, gathering resources in order to survive encounters, fighting a wild variety of enemies with a wild variety of weapons, etc.
Players on Galaxy of Turmoil: Holy shit this is fun. EA: Fun? No microtransactions? No loot boxes? No DLC? Not on our watch! *Pulls the plug of Galaxy in Turmoil.
My favorite Genre is probably, by a tiny margin, RPGs, although I tend to have to finish those in multiple different groups of sessions, rather than playing every day until it's finished. I also really love shooters (play a decent amount of Battlefront 2, and just got into Apex Legends), and I love strategy games (the game I have the most hours in, not counting stuff I played before steam and other platforms existed that measure your playtime, is Total War Warhammer 2, with about 1400 hours, originally mainly in campaign, but more recently in multiplayer), but I feel like a lot of strategy games that aren't multiplayer really struggle to have real feeling difficulty, they get harder due to your enemies cheating more, not due to the AI actually being better. Total War really has this as a problem, and even on the hardest difficulties it's easy to cheese the AI, which is why I mainly play multiplayer now.
I just want an open world GTA x Skyrim style Star Wars game more than anything else. Starting as a poor dude, getting quests like stealing stuff from Javas to get money for your first shitty space ship. Being able to craft and buy new ships, weapons, bases/houses, going to other planets, joining a faction in the war. Exploring planets, caves, fighting monsters and the imperium, stealing other ships, upgrading your ship and so on. Basically GTA online in space with a super big space map
What would be really sweet for a fan made game would be Star Wars Musou, or Dynasty Warriors Star Wars'version of it. The president of Koei/Tecmo games expressed interest in making a title, but sadly disney and ea own Star Wars
Yeah... respect to the creators - I wouldn't have idea one how to do any of that -, but I ain't blown away by any of them. I'll be sticking with mods improving upon the foundations laid down by large professional teams with major budgets. As for the question: role-playing games are #1, particularly à la Infinity Engine, but really all variations and hybrids other than roguelikes and soulslikes. Platformers and metroidvanias (in both cases 2D is preferred over 3D) are also up there alongside space sims (Wing Commander and X-Wing more so than Privateer and Elite), story-based shooters (e.g. Jedi Knight and Half-life), action adventures (Legacy of Kain, Prince of Persia, classic Tomb Raider games, Batman Arkham series other than Arkham Knight,...), strategy games and tactics games (just about everything that isn't a MOBA), adventure games (old-school point'n'click ones above all others), fighting games (albeit only BlazBlue, The King of Fighters, Naruto, and Mortal Kombat; I don't care much for the other big names - mostly due to overall visual character design philosophies), and pinball sims of all things (despite not really being any good on this last genre), but RPGs are just... everything when mechanics and stories are sufficiently ambitious - graphics optional.
I am not more of a 'genre' gamer as I am a 'story driven' (or rather single player campaign guy). As long there is an interesting storyline, I am definitely going to buy or play it. That said, that fighting game and Redemption both look sweet (and fun) to play...
Rule of thumb: If someone releases a playable demo of a work in progress, that's the kiss of death for that game. Don't ask me why, but the more media an author releases about something they're working on, the LESS likely it is to ever be finished, and when they release a playable demo, that virtually guarantees that it will never be finished. As for fan-made Star Wars games, here's a tip for all the authors out there: DON'T TALK ABOUT IT!!! If you're going to post about a Star Wars game that you're working on, you might as well contact Disney directly and ask them to shut you down. Actually this applies to pretty much any media franchise, be it movies, TV or an existing game series. Want to make a new Mario game? DON'T TALK ABOUT IT!!! Want to make a new Star Trek game? DON'T TALK ABOUT IT!!! Just keep your mouth shut until it's finished, you've tested the hell out of it, and posted it on the net. At that point, you will almost certainly get a legal notice telling you to take it down, but at least people will have had a chance to download it, so it will be out there forever. On the other hand, if you WANT your project shut down, go ahead and post all about it, so that the copyright holders can stomp it into the ground with legal threats.
My favourite Genre of Games? Third Person Open World Action / Adventure / RPG, fully packed with exploration and loot. Story driven, character driven and fully packed with choices and consequences.
