  • Hello! Here are three simple methods for meditation that you can try today. Despite their simplicity, they are not necessarily easy.
Let me know how it goes in the comments!
1.) Walking Meditation - Focusing on your steps
2.) Breathing Meditation - Focusing on your breath.
3.) Visualization Meditation - Focusing on one thing.

Up until now I never truly understood how to meditate, where to start, what to think because everyone always blabs about thinking of nothing but that's not possible and you literally explained that question away in one video I tried meditating before but it never worked maybe because I never truly understood might try again thanks so much for the video

I was told to focus only on how you breathe.

I'm new to meditation, but I think its not about avoiding having thoughts, its about being aware of them & not judging yourself for having them or for being distracted. Everytime you feel your mind is wandering, just notice that, and bring back your focus. It doesn't have to be anything fancy for long periods of time. Start with just 2 to 5 mins daily of just sitting in one place by closing your eyes, thats it. If you're like me and get distracted too much to the point of frustration, you can use 5 min guided meditation videos from youtube as well. Hope this helps! :)

The basics cours on headspace app really helped me in that aspect so maybe you can try that.

Great stuff. On the walking meditation I like to focus on adapting my stride to the surface as closely as possible. I also don't lock out any joints and focus on really feeling the contact with the earth. Walking with this much attention to detail is very mindful and keeps my attention focused in the moment. Watch the way a cat walks for inspiration.

Studies have shown the amazing effects of meditation. Glad you are encouraging people to meditate. I encourage all my patients to do it. That’s why I did a video on the research. Cheers! Great video. Liked and subscribed!

    Have a beautiful day.

Having the timer and doing it before bed has helped, and I'm starting only 5 min. "well I'm going to bed whether I do a good job mediating or not so this time isn't wasted. What's 5 more minutes in bed or 5 more minutes wasted online?"
Just thinking of that and I am free enough to do it.

Hi ! I just started watching your videos. Everything you say resonates with my life - experiences , circumstances, and situation . Finding out who and what I truly am and meant to be is scary !! I just began my "journey" ! As was explained by you, aline motivation was vanity. Physical aspects and personal conflict and external acceptance. I was at the gym today it was empty, so i I was able to attempt a workout alone. I thought of " stimuli" for guidance and instructions. I remembered years ago I watched a few of your videos. I tuned in today to a video about depression - I've watched at least ten of your videos since this afternoon. Summary -it is therapeutic !!

As a person with severe problems with executive function, do you have any tips for me in overcoming this issue?

    • @natb5685
      @natb5685 3 года назад +2

This is for a specific kind of executive function problem, I don’t know if it will help you.
If you’re the kind who gets caught up trying to plan something perfectly before being willing to do it, acknowledge that since you have an executive function challenge, you can allow yourself to do it imperfectly as long as you stumble through it. So make your priority “I gotta get this done, quick as possible, doesn’t matter how badly done” and allow yourself to haphazardly stumble through your tasks so long as you do them. If you don’t think you can do something right, allow yourself to try doing it wrong (obviously unless it’s something that affects safety).

Hampton, mate. Your gait seems a little pigeon-toed. This might have something to do with your knee pain. Have you considered going to a podiatrist and getting insoles to correct the inward torquing of your leg? This can cause a lot of wear and tear on your meniscus and your ligaments and can increase the risk of ACL injury, if not checked out properly.
